Stuck To My Katamari: Responsibilities

Current Mood: Surprisingly Calm

Ah, I finally have some time to do a proper update on my blog. So, the new year is off to not a running start, but a sprinting one for me. It's a bit of a snowball effect from the end of last year. After the news of John's grandmother passing away right before Christmas, I noticed a tumor growing in my dog Brynner's mouth. All the signs point to very bad things. So needless to say he promptly went into the vet. But since it was the Saturday before Christmas we couldn't schedule surgery until after the holiday.

The day of his surgery came and while I was in the office visiting I was asked to do some bookkeeping for the clinic since they were short handed in the office. The major difficulty they were having was that they needed someone who was familiar with veterinary terminology and bookkeeping, which is very difficult to find in this town. So I've gone back to work at the clinic. The best part of all of this is that I can go back to the job I loved and I get to set my own hours! It does make me a little sad since I am not doing my old job, which is physically impossible for me to do with my poor health, but I do get to pick up some odds and ends of tech work. ^_^

While back at work on my birthday we ended up getting Brynner's results back from the lab, it's osteosarcoma. That means he has bone cancer. I spied the test results before my boss could tell me the bad news. I guess this is the peril of knowing medical terminology. I know he didn't want to give me bad news on my birthday so I didn't push him about the test results. The next day we made plans for another surgical procedure on Wednesday to hopefully extend his life another couple of years.

Unfortunately for me John left for an important business trip to South Carolina at 2am this morning and will be gone for the entire week. On top of that I have to have to go to the doctor since my RA has pretty much been out of control all winter. And, of course, since John is gone, it snows like crazy! So outside I go to shove the walkway, which flares my RA. Meh! In between shoveling snow and taking care of medicating Brynner and medicating myself, I also managed to get some transcription done for an anime company. Busy, busy, BUSY!

So that brings me to this very moment. I am quite surprised that I am holding things together so well. I did have a bit of a poor me/pity party moment today when I tried to open a drink bottle and couldn't get the top off since the safety ring was stronger than my hands could handle. It just left me doing that pathetic laughing-so-I-don't-cry chuckle. *sigh* It's very humbling when you can't open your own beverage.

Boy, 2008 has already been a wild ride. Let's hope things begin calming down as the year progresses. lol

Stuck To My Katamari: Memories

Current Mood: Drained.

It's that time of year again when we start to think back to the year that has past. You really can't escape it. Year in Review and Best of 2007 shows seem to be the only things on TV right now. Well, I shouldn't say the only thing, there are the plethora of perfume and jewelry ads. :P

On the personal front this year has been a wild roller coaster for me. Health wise, family and friend wise... lots of happy times and a few sad ones. One of those sad events just happened yesterday. John's grandmother passed away. She had been struggling for a while and it was her time to go. We will miss her very much. On a happier note, one of my cousins just had her first baby and another one is pregnant. Lots of new babies in my extended family. And no, I am not going to be adding to the family. I'm just to sickly.

Site wise things have been pretty interesting too. Starting off with that con that was a con and the server issues to meeting up with fellow theOtaku.com members at cons and looking forward to the release of V.V. There has been lots of growth and many changes. It's going to be a fun ride to see what adventures the site has in store for us in the coming year.

Well, I suppose that is about it for this update. Hopefully I'll have some spare time to update before the end of the year. We'll see. If not, happy holidays everyone. I hope everyone has a very happy and safe holiday season. Much love to you all. *hugs*

CS: Peppermint Mochas are simply devine. My favorite one right now is the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks. It's bad. I go through the drive through with exactly $4.10 in my hand since I know that is what a Grande PWCM costs. I think I need to go get one...

SG: It sounds like you need to get some socks! Perhaps as a socking stuffer! Guitar Hero 3 is fun. I haven't been able to play it much since my RA is kicking my butt, but John seems to really enjoy it. I want Rock Band. If only I were made of money!!

Japan86: I so totally agree with you. My laptop is getting bad. The space bar sticks, it does weird things with programs (like it only will start up Photoshop if you restart) and it's just too old. I got it Sept 2001. Hey, are you going to go to Sakura-con this year?

Faroe: *hugs* People can be so mean. I think spending time with your boyfriend would be nice. Surround yourself with people who love you and just forget about those meanies. They aren't even worth spending your time thinking about.

KT: LOL I love those gift cards you can buy almost anywhere now. It makes it so much easier to pick up a gift without having to drive from store to store. I'm leaning towards picking up a Best Buy card for my bro. I'm having a tough time deciding what to get him...

Mercury Dragon: Ooooh! A trip to London! That would definitely be a great gift from Santa. I wouldn't mind getting a trip from Santa. I'm not sure where I would go but to get away from my boring hometown would be a great trip!

InfiniteRain141: I wouldn't mind some DS games from Santa too. I doubt I'll get any but it's a nice thought. *hugs*

Mamma Vash: Time off from work would be a very nice gift from Santa! You need a break from the looney bin! We definitely have to figure out some time to chat. It's been far too long.

Kev: Well, mostly healthy. LOL Hope all is going well for you and your cohorts at HG. *hugs*

Baptistgirl: Is there a particular kind of hero you want Santa to bring you? Perhaps a sandwich? Super? or maybe just a Guitar Hero! *strums game controller* I so totally rock that game... when I can play it that is. lol

   Stuck To My Katamari: Snow!

Current Mood: Chillin'

The Thanksgiving holiday was pretty taxing on me. I've been taking it easy since then doing my best to recover from all the stresses of late. I am just now feeling back to normal just in time to take care of last minute Christmas rush! I've got a Peppermint Mocha in my hand so I'm good to go. ^_^

Everyone: Since my last post didn't really give you much to talk about. So I'll leave you guys with a question: What are you hoping Santa brings you this year?

Stuck To My Katamari: Anime Screeners

Current Mood: Lazy

I'm glad you guys got a kick out of my katamari costume. You won't believe this but I have not finished the antenna yet. LOL I'll get it done after the holidays. Things are beginning to pick up around here with a ton of screeners that need to be reviewed (the latest batch is on the front page of the site right now) and my brother-in-law's upcoming wedding has us doing pre-wedding stuff. Not to mention Thanksgiving and my 12th wedding anniversary on the 25th! Busy, busy busy and I am feeling really overwhelmed. I just keep plugging away and I know things will be fine. It's all good.

Mariskah *glomps* Thanks! I hope this cooler weather is treating you kindly. I know for me standing in front of the open front door all night handing out candy was a bit taxing. I think I am still trying to get over Halloween! I completely ran out of candy and had to turn some kids away. Bummer.

enin: I think Ichigo is pretty darn cute too. Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate everyones support with my bizarre otaku hobby.

Yensid: Thanks, Ichigo is from the game Katamari Damacy and you are not too old or too fat to cosplay!!! As for the weather up here in Washington. It is getting really cold. It's making my RA flare up. It's the only thing I hate about the cold weather. :P

KT: Thanks, I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Next cousin on the list is Daisy. She's so cute! And cowprint... adorable! lol

Solo: Thanks! I would love to see you in a TTC costume! I really want to make that hat with antlers too. It's just too tempting... I better not think about it too much or I'll start another project before getting that antenna on my Ichigo costume!

SomeGuy: I have plans for a Katamari bag to go with it. I love props that can do double duty. I will definitely be rolling you up in my katamari at SC! ~_^

Mimmi: LOL There is no way I could have a web show. You see how long it takes me to update my blog! It would be so long between installments people would forget about it! *glomps back*

Stuck To My Katamari: Costumes and Candy

Current Mood: Happy

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you all have your costumes and are ready for a night of tricks and/or treats. I was hoping to have my Katamari costume done but I didn't quite make it. All I have left is to put the antenna on and it's being troublesome so it is not complete. But since it's Halloween I'll give you guys a look at what is done. It will debut at Sakura-con this coming spring. I swear, this costume has taken me the longest time to finish. Without further ado, me in my Ichigo costume.

I have a plastic pumpkin sitting on the table next to the front door filled with goodies for the kids who will be invading my neighborhood. Oh and it looks like the kids are already heading into the neighborhood. I guess I have to cut this one short. Have a very happy and safe Halloween everyone!

Everyone *gives candy* Sorry no responses yet again. I've got to get back to preparing for the ghouls and gobbins that will be coming by for goodies. Happy Halloween!

Stuck To My Katamari: Coffee

Current Mood: Relaxin'

So I've finally made it around to updating my site. No family members in the hospital so things are pretty good. Except for the fact I have to go to the dentist in a couple of weeks to have some work done on a chipped tooth. I already went in for the initial exam and now I've got to go back to have the work done. It's going to be a big pain in the... mouth. lol

Since I really don't have much to post about I thought I would leave you with this completely random thought:

"I'm Captain Basch fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca!"

Stuck To My Katamari: Warm Blankets

Current Mood: Tired

Thank you all for the well wishes for my mom. She is doing so much better now and she is out of the hospital. *hugs everyone* Now that I don't have to spend my days driving back and forth across the state and have the weight of all that stress lifted of me made me realize just how worn out I am. Since things are getting back to normal I can put my focus back on taking care of things around the site. ^_^

With that said I need to get back to work. Hope everyone is happy and healthy and I'll be seeing all of you around the site.
