SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Well, I'm taking the plunge into the world of HTML. It's kind of crazy-- but step by step, I want to come into the 21st century. I'm still part of the horse and buggy crowd. Thank you Panda for your advice! I feel like my knees knock as I try to decipher all these new terms, web host, bandwidth--I'm going to try and put together a little web site, Mamma's Kitchen, It is going to take some time, but I think it will be fun. And yes, ,I hope to post some recipes there. (if I can't I might put one here-- my legendary biscotti! The Italian dunking cookie.
The most remarkable thing about today is I can sit up without falling over! This one virus really ruined my weekend-- well there's always next weekend.

Thanks a million Panda for the support through HTML ! It is truly a strange world when you did not grow up with this stuff!

Good morning Milkycat--a guestion for you is how does someone spam you-- (Yes, I am that naive) wishing you cool breezes, Ozy J-- so much ambition and creativity! I wish you doves in the morning (we actually have a nest under the Eaves), Panda-- you are wise and patient!I wish you roses from the garden, and yuccas from the canyon. Balinese, I am glad you are discovering Nature,, I wish you a field of wildflowers, an awesome sight! And I wish peace in our day to all my friends.

***blush***
Ooo, that stomachvirus came back, only this time I got dizzy and wobbly, and severely upset stomach. I had to bring the car in for maintenance, and so rented a car to be able to get to work.. Once in the rental, after driving 3 blocks, I had to pull over and run-- my stomach was so sick. **blush** a bit embarassing! Then I came back home, and slept for 6 h. Whoever invented ginger ale and root beer should get the Nobel prize for medicine!
Memorial Day I will be taking Dad to Las Vegas. I'll pick him up at the airport, and we'll go to a hotel. He's excited, , has never been there. One good thing about getting older is an opportunity to give back to your parents. My mother had always wondered what a first class airplane ride would be like-- I had the opportunity to take her to San Francisco, and Fisherman's Wharf with a suite at a bed and breakfast, and had her fly first class. It was well wworth all the saving, and it helps when I miss her to look at the pictures of her, Dad and me. H

Hello to all my friends, and thanks for being so patient!

Ozy J-- many smiles, Balinese-- fun adventures, Milkycat--a fun weekent, Panda-- happiness, KamiyaUsagi-- happy music, Wolfy-- beautiful flowers-- and love and peace to all.

Good morning to everyone! I appreciate the comments that people leave for me, they really do help brighten the day. Well, track shoes on and running. What, I can't believe I left the Donut Fiend in the dust ! Amazing what happens "when the whistle blows" to start the day. Still trying to decipher more HTML--- how does anyone get original photos in their posts. Oh , well. It's too early in the day to be creativie-- my brain is still trying to figure how to walk and chew gum (left foot forward....) Hope to get back again later with longer post, but at least wish California sunshine to my friends, because you are so nice.

   Go Speed Racer....
GAHHHHH! The California freeway traffic is usually bad, but on Nascar race day , forget it! Backed up for miles-- I can see where they get those funny movies about traffic jams. Once, stuck in a legendary "sig alert" (Californese for You Ain' Moving for at Least an Hour !) I sat stuck in the car, parched, wondering what the foul up was this time--- turning the radio on, on that hot July day , to discover that an onion truck had lost its load.. cars smashed the onions, went skidding off the road creating delays. Finally, after at least an hour, the traffic slowly inched forward, making groaning sounds like a wounded dragon. Then, SCREECH! It came to a halt. Being about a mile back, no reason could be seen. Again , Mamma turns the radio on to find out another vegetable truck, a pepper truck, skidded on all the onions and lost its load on the hot pavement. All that would have been needed was a beef truck and tortilla truck, and we would have seen the world's biggest fajita!

Well, until next time, Mamma will motor on in the little red car that goes bump-bump-bump (all the knitting needles, cans for recycling-- I really am an Earth mother you know!)

A question for my friends-- what should Mamma name the car-- a red Cavalier sedan, perpetually dusty, about 4 years old, very non-descript (oh, except for the Mr. Wienerschnitzel antenna-topper)?

For terrific background on myths and anime, on line dictionary for translation of Japanese, italian or anything, check out the links that Ozymandiusjones has on her site! Awesome!

Ozy J-- I wish you golden lit evenings to relax and reflect in, Milkcat, I wish you ocean breezes to dream with, Panda,I wish you clear starshine to laugh with , KamiyaUsagi, I send you sparkling brooks to dance with ,Wolfy I wish you birdsong to dance with, and Balinese I send you the beach where a neko can curl and drink up the sunshine. Good night to all my friends, I'll catch you on the starshine side of life.

You Put The Lime In the Coconut...
Anyone every have music "playingin your head", ,a tune thats a blast from the past you remember so well you can just about hear it? well... this one is playing on Mamma's Radiohead--I am wondering-- whoever wrote this, was he writing about his hangover rememdy or what? I have discovered Torani syrups and Italian sodas...these are the flavoured syrups you put in coffees (I found suparless ones, yay!) If you put the syrup in club soda or sparkling mineral water , its Italian soda. (you can get these on the Internet) They are really good when it gets hot-- and today the temp is going back into the 90's which means when I go into work today (for blah-- PAPERWORK--maybe my name should be merylstryfe. LOL LOL (giggle) had a thot for a sketch-- Vash stuck with paperwork! I'll bet he could wreck an office in nothing flat (actually, my office looks like a hurricane hit it with projects) .
Sorry for the ride on Mamma's crazy stream of consciousness.
Vash says: OMG-- get some seaat belts-- THIS BOAT IS GOING TO SINK--Mamma's stream of consciousness is more like the rapids of Niagra Falls! GAHHH...

Anyway, to return to culinary issues (mmm..), my favorite Italian soda is "Mounds".. 1 oz Toranni Coconut syrup and 1 oz of chocolate syrup in a 12 oz glass (the sugarless kind work great, and beat the usual sugarless drinks cold)

Well, off I go to work to play "insurance Girl" to use Trigun yet again (no, I don't work for an insurance company, but its about the best phrase for slave to paperwork),

Milkycat, I am so glad all the nekos are home safe, and that there are new nekos! Ozy J--You have such a poetic soul-- I send you wildflowers from the canyon, Panda, goodmorning! Your compassion and passion for animals warms my heart! I send you wide canyon trails to wander and ride, Balinese--welcome back my neko friend! I send you open stretches of beach. Kamiya Usagi--glad you are dancing--I send you large open meadows you can call your own! And hugs for all my friends, ,and hope of peace in the world.

   And the Parrot Barked !
Creak, groan, bump, bump, down comes Mamma, finally from hibernation. I think the stomach virus has settled down. I could truly hug whoever invented !. Chicken Soup, the Original Penicillin, ,and 2. Cola drinks-- when I was a kid, I remember my mother giving us syrup of Coca Cola to settle our stomachs. I remember lots of legendary family cures, but the funny thing is they seemed to work.. well , oral history is usually pretty interesting.
Our parrots are now 14 and 15 yrs old. (One is going to celebrate a hatch day soon-- we actually do celebrate, and get a cupcake for the bird, sing, and everyone eats a little of the "cake", and the bird gets a new toy-- usually wood, or a bell. My birds are so spoiled, we let them ride on their "humans" as much as possible. And if you wonder, yes-- they are potty trained! (to use newspaper or anything newsprint). Dr. Who, the conure, and Ramana (it should be spelled Romana, like Dr. Who's assistant) is a double yellow headed Amazon. She is a wuss bird! She gets startled and a bit frightened, and was easily shy when we first brought her home. But she is very very gentle, and we love to pet her, she sometimes cooes. She is the talented bird when it comes to noises-- she barks like nmy neighbors Chow, and learned how to do cop sirens and microwave oven beeps. When we first moved to the canyon 9 years ago, there was a new microwave. Ramana learned when it chirped, someone would run into the kitchen, and then a wonderful smell would fill the air. And then Ramana would get a treat-- vegetables, and peeerhaps a good treat like a little pasta ! Eventually, she started to chirp and beep-- I would go running into the kitchen, and nothing was cooking. Oh , ,of course the bird looked up as if to say "Mamma, how about a treat".. and I would give her a piece of fruit, and go back to my tasks. My husband said one day "Why do you run like that, because that was 6 beeps, ,and the microwave only beeps 5 times!" Well, I guess I'm the birdbrain of the family. We have moved so many times, I am glad we have been here in the canyon long. It is a beautiful place. At night, the sky is deep turquoise and indigo and clear to see the stars. I think I'm going to try and take a picture of the night sky during this week.
I added a pic to my art-- taking a cue from Ozymandiusjones and mixing up wardrobe among anime characters, I got a giggle thinking what if Kuronekoosama got Vash' coat and glasses, ,say in a poker game.. well if anyone sees it, please leave a comment (first try at computer colouring-- its not as easy as I thought!)

Milkycat, I hope the sadness drifts away-- sending you sweet scented jasmine for your dreams, Kamiya Usagi-- are you dancing, I send you cool jazz, Ozy J, are there cool breezes where you are, I send you a starshine picnic with moonbeams for dessert, Panda-- I hope you and your wonderful pets are having a day of smiles, I send you the canyon mix of desert and forest- yuccas and evergreens, Wolfy--still thanking you for chai (now iced), I send you Cardamom and cinnamon , the spices of life, TAG-- goodday and confetti and everything fun, I send you deep laughter for a good day, and Balinese-- warm neko cuddles in return, and a basket of biscotti. If you happen to stop by, hello to ScirosDarkblade, the owner of a very wit!

O.O.. the parrot barked, so I guess there is someone on the path. Goodday to all friends. I thank everyone who stopped by with warm thoughts that really helped during the crest of the bug.

Did anybody see that truck...
Somebody get the license plate, cuz I feel like a truck hit me. One of those stomach viruses-- when I stood up this morning, it was as if I was on a roller coaster at Magic Mountain. Walking downstair to the computer was the biggest task I could take on today. As I type, it feels a little bit like sitting in a boat that is sloshing a little.

Not much to add today as I'm going to keep a date with my pillows!

Pacific sunsets, with magnificent thundering waves to all my friends today.

   oh-wa-ta-gu-siam
Feeling a bit silly this morning. Looking out the window I noticed that I can see palm trees with mountains in the distance that sometimes have a snow peak. It struck me today as a little funny, almost like what it would be like to drive through Roger Rabbit's Toon Town. A question for anyone passing by: what's something silly you have literally seen in the past week or so?
Have to get motoring to try and beat the morning California traffic jams. (OK.. the Peanut Gallery is shuffling their feet, and yes, I believe the Donut Fiend has something to say:
Vash TS-- "Hey Mamma, why do you drive in all the traffic-- all you have to do is get the broom out of the closet...."

thanks a lot, VTS! Oh, if I could fly an ultralite into work, that would be so sweet.

Anyone passing by, if you know how to put pictures in a post with the current set up, if you could kindly leave a comment I would love it! Well, it looks like the tutorial, OB, are good starts, I''m just lazy this morning-- still in the nightshirt with some chai ..MMMMM.. don't want to move or get up and out. No fun to be working on nice days! Sunshine and moonbeams for all.

Milkycat--NYA!!! Are the nekos all safe and snug? I send you cool breezes for the day. Ozy J-- I send you smiles, and ponds full of baby ducklings! Balinese, I send you wonderful adventures and new places to be! Panda, your pets sound so wonderful-- my parrot barks hello to you!. Wolfy-- I send you hugs and warm spring days. And heyo TAG!
