homeward bound
what? i ran out of creative subject titles years ago.

anyway, as is bluntly stated, im coming home this afternoon. not homesick or anything, but its just nice to be able to go back and crash in my own house. going to the lake for one last hurrah of the summer. wefinally got our jetski back and in the water, so liana and i are going to drive it into the ground. hey, we have to make up for having not had it all summer. my parents are going over today and liana, the dog and i are heading over tomorrow morning. yay lake.

and i shall have art tonight. i have 6 pics now (colored but mostly sans backgrounds) i had no classes (or homework) today, so spent some of my free time redoing my sketches of two of the races liana and i created for our story. those being the draevin and the rithalen. i wasnt really happy with the first draevin sketch in the first place, so it had to be redone. and my second rithalen is even more painful to look at (it is possible).

so thats where it stands. stop back by later to see what i have to offer.

quote of the day:
“I've always considered statesmen to be more expendable than soldiers.”

i dont know who said that, but theyre awesome.

well then
liana fussed at me for having nothing to say on here for awhile, so i humor her.

classes are still going reasonably well. chinese is starting to get a bit more complicated. its amazing how picky it can be. romance language speakers, you likely vary your tone up and down all over the place when you speak, right? well, in chinese you cant do that. saying "ma" in a flat tone versus saying "ma" with your voice going down then back up is the difference in saying "mother" or "horse" (there are two other tones as well and they have to be precise as they can sound a lot alike) so of course us american kids are having some difficulties with that. started basic writting yesterday (very very basic, we dont get further into that until next semester).

did a generic line drawing from a still-life in art. i hate still lifes (lives?). theyre boring. have you noticed how all still lifes have to contain: fruit, flowers, a pitcher, and a skull? every single one ive ever done, had at least 2, usually all 4. its weird. hed asked us to bring him stuff to show where we are, so i did. i was most annoyed, he more or less insulted auron and that is just unacceptable. he said the glow was "artistically incorrect", despite my saying that the glow was supposed to be there for the character. no, it ruined the whole pic. i was most highly displeased. hn.

further in art, i have 4 finished pics as of now: my old bicorn character, kita; sage the pterotaur (winged centaur); a random snow leopardtaur because i can; and a random gift pic which i wont go into detail on. have an unfinshed comic i might post. dunno. was a bit sketchy and rushed.

anyway, ill be home this weekend as its labor day for us americans and that means long weekend. *yeeeees*

my comp has been giving me a ridiculous amount of trouble and the quote says it all

friiiiiiday
man...8:10 class 4 days a week is taking some adjusting. fortunately, on tuesday and friday, my next class isnt until 1. so i can come back to my room and go back to bed ^^ im allowed to be lazy when theres nothing better to do. maybe i shouldnt have coco puffs for breakfast when im going back to bed. really weird dreams. but hey, chocolate is the breakfast of champions ^__^ man i love coco puffs.

i have art, but sadly i lack a scanner. im thinking art is going to be roughly every 2 weeks. but that means ill have a ton of it when i get home. for now, i have 2 finished drawings, and a little comic thingy. see, ym dorm is having a contest to design the tshirts. the theme is "oh the places youll go." so far ive got 3 cartoony dogs in a car (with one naturally hanging out the window). anyway i wanted to sketch them out a little better to make them look decent, and decided i liked them. so i think ill make comics with them. whoo for random stuff.

hehehe, i have to keep a sketchbook for my art class. when my various creatures start filling it up, id love to see the teachers expression. speaking of, on monday he asked us to bring in some stuff to show where we are right now. heheheh...auron, oreo and at least one colored one shall be shown off. ill likely just take my whole folder, but pull out those in particular. likely one of the two ive been working on.

wow, this post is getting long. in my music appreciation class (survey of western classical music) after discussing that piano means soft and forte means loud, the teacher finally asked how many of us have musical experience. over half the class. then he asked us to bring in an instrument today. all i have with me are my trumpet and penny whistle. not near good enough with trumpet to want to show that off, so im bringing my penny whistle to annoy everyone. ^^ i love my little penny whistle. so very fun.

it begins
first day of classes yesterday. only one (no lab) and that one, of course, was at 8:10. also, that one was chinese. thats going to be an interesting class. mainly, because staring today there will be little to no english. thats going to be fun until we all start to catch on. today i have the rest of my classes:
chinese: 8:10-9:00
drawing: 10:10-12:00
zoology: 1:10-2:00
music appreciation: 2:10-3:00
so a full day. and i have the first band meeting tomorrow too. i enjoy band, i just wish it wasnt outside of class time. id like to have my afternoons available.

what else...ive been drawing a lot for some reason, but as you may remember, you people wont see it until im next home and can get my scanner. draw another old character of mine: a black, red and gold bicorn named kita. i recall now why i liked her so much. she looks awesome. heh, it occured to me, all of the characters ive used to represent myself have been black, red and gold (except erialc), have been loners by nature, and have been more or less rejected by society. well, guess i do know my real personality, right? heh, just found that amusing how similar they all were in attitude, yet so different in appearance. ill draw them all in on pic eventually. man, but i just thought of another one. only used her for a little while, but she was a gold dragon named aneascailin. whoo, i was an imaginative little child. heh, no more oc's for inu. think my muse/spirit has finally settled. ok, im rambling and going into therianthropy. thats enough from me.

quote of the day:
"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'" -Robin Williams

terrible, but pretty accurate. only the comedians can tell the truth and not be criticized for it, because people can choose not to see deeper meaning. looking forward to expatriotism.

the time is nigh
well, im moved back in at college. as of now, i dont have a roommate, but im told someone wil be moving in soon. theyre having to push upperclassmen out of the dorms because theres a record number of freshmen moving in. my roommate was one of the ones whoe moved out, and theyre not allowing single rooms. theres a room of 4 downstairs, and one of them will be coming up here at some point. so for now im alone. meaning, i got to arrange my half how i wished, and my roommate can adjust around it ^^ we had a few problems, but otherwise i have everything as id wanted it. heh, one fun thing i did, see, i raised my bed up on cinder blocks so i can put my desk and such under it to save floor space. i have a little stereo thing consisting of 2 tiny speakers and a subwoofer. i took the speakers and hung them from the underside of my bed, so i rigged the poor mans surround sound under here. oh its cool ^___^ im kinda crammed in because i had to put an extra piece of furniture under here too (the dressers didnt fit in the closet like theyre supposed to) so i have my little cockpit here. its tight, but i can get to everything, so im happy. theres plenty of floor space on my side, so it just remains to be seen what my roommate will do. and now im off to find places for the last few things. whoo.

friday
the day of reckoning draws ever closer. moving back to college in 2 days. im more or less ready, but its school, so i dont wanna. man, dont we all long for the nice days of kindergarten every once in awhile? (those of us in high school and college. if youre under 15, you cant say anything because your school isnt hard yet no matter what you think)

went to dinner with liana and her brother and sister last night. we went to get sushi, and it was good. see, my parents arent fans of oriental food, so i dont get it much if ever. and then, maybe my dad and i will end up at a chinese buffet. so i havent had sushi in years. literally. it was good. i ate too much, because we ordered a ton, but it was good.

i promised art yesterday, and amazingly i actually delivered. however, i didnt get it up here until i got back from dinner, so i doubt anyone noticed. so heres that again. see the description for full details and such.

soon
thursday already. and i go back to school sunday. classes start up tuesday. whoo. however, tuesday is my lab day, and since theres no class monday, there can be no lab tuesday, so i should have an extra free day. whee. i had been informed who my roommate was going to be and have talked to her a few times. now i find out that because of the mass of incoming freshmen, upperclassmen are being moved out of dorms, and shes going to be living at home. so i have no clue who im going to be living with. thats going to be fun. and no, i dont hope that no one moves in, because then id have to pay a ridiculous amount to have the room to myself. so thats unfortunate.

i can promise art later today, tho it will not be posted here as its not anime or video game or the like. its another "realism" thing (in quotes because im still not up to calling it that officially) not going to say what it is yet, as its a surprise for a friend and i dont want any chance of word getting back. (no liana, im not talking about you) just need to stick a bg on it, and ill be good. simple bg to avoid drawing attention away. yay artistic liscence. it will be later in the afternoon, but itll be up and linked here. so check back later, if you please.

oreo is much better. his eye still looks terrible, but much better than it was. were still having to give him eye drops 3 times a day, which he is not too happy about, but hes resigned to it and doesnt fight as much.

tested for my 4th belt in tkd last night and passed. were still trying to figure out who messed with the colors and why, but for the next couple months, lara and i are stuck wearing a camo belt. yes, full-out military forest camo. explain that to us. enh, normal colors after this one.

i love my art quotes

it comes nearer...
school fast approacheth. i have exactly a week until classes start. poor liana starts back today. so ill be spending a good bit of the week gather up my crap and seeing what inexplicably vanished over the summer. when not doing that, i hope to be reading or perhaps drawing.

for those who may be curious, oreo is nicely recovered from his surgery. nothing better than a weekend at the lake, eh? his eye looks terribly, but better. and he hasnt been bleeding again. so hes going to be fine, just his eye is going to be permanently scarred. they say it wont mess with his vision, and currently hes not hampered at all. so we have high hopes for him.

in related news, the 'terminator dog' joke was just too funny, so i drew it. (i had it on here yesterday too) i know most of you wont scroll down to find it in my last post, so here it is: terminator dog.

quote of the day:
“Slow and steady wins the race, then wastes no time grinding salt-caked glass in
your open wounds.” -Randy K. Milholland, Something Positive Comic, 11-06-05

ya know, i have the suspicion that people tend to copy these quotes. no, that doesnt bother me. but id love it if you leave one for me as well. liana and i collect these things, if you recall, and are always looking to add to our hoard.

good weekend
had a good time at the lake (last weekened of summer ><) stayed in the water most of the time, seeing as it was over 100 degrees again. sadly, it was cloudy and raied off and on for a few days. but we managed to take the houseboat out and stay out over night last night. that was so nice.

oh man, we got to see our meteor shower. there were actually about 4 going on at once, so there were meteors all over the sky. we saw a few huge ones, and it was so awesome. we went out on our party barge on saturday night, and jsut as we decided to come in, a huge gold moon broke over the horizon, so we had to stay and watch that. and we saw some more last night while we were out. it was so awesome. the stars alone were amazing. its so clear out on the lake. you just dont get a sky like that in the city. the milky way was perfectly clear and there were no dark patches in the sky at all. it was great.

in other news, i said that we had started calling my dog 'terminator dog' after his eye surgery, and that i was so amused i had to draw it. i did, but its not here seeing as its not anime. so heres that: terminator dog. i actually almost took my time, so its pretty decent. (oreo never looks that evil)
