nooooooo
man, breaks over. and i was enjoying that too. ah well, only a week of classes left.

didnt really get anything productive done over the break. not as if thats a surprise. we had nice weather here for a few days, so spenta lot of time outside. took the dog for a couple long walks at various parks with my parents, which was nice. poor dog ran into some burrs at one park. had to spend about five minutes picking them out of his paws.

whoa, i just realized that my 3-year annivesary on here was friday o_O dang, ive been hanging around here for a long time. er, happy anniversary to me? *totally didnt notice* 3 years. man, i really dont have much of a life.

not that i put up any new art, but go see if you havent already. some good stuff.

quote of the day:
“A person who is ‘of sound mind’ is one who keeps the inner madman under lock and key.”

ganenjie keaile
or happy thanksgiving to those who celebrate it. we learn to say all these holidays in chinese, and its good practice for me. hehe, we had fun asking our teacher how to say various thanksgiving related things. the favorite was huoji, which is turkey. however, it translates directly to 'fire chicken'. man did we have fun with that one.

right-o, so lots of family coming over. well, not really lots. counting parents and i, well have 12. theyre not coming until around 1, so i get to sleep in this year.

its so nice to be home for a break. granted, i spent the first day of my break doing laundry, but at least i could just flop on the couch while waiting for my laundry to be done. played chess with my dad last night, and managed to win both games. not that im any good, but were both equally bad. was lots of fun though.

and i got a good bit of art up. only about half of it is on here. but, my dA gallery is linked in my profile if you want to see all of it. some decent stuff this time. and some pointless and inane comics. fun stuff.

quote of the day:
“I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.” -Mark Twain

this is why we have a large selection of twain quotes.

2 days and counting
2 days of classes, then im gone for thanksgiving. turns out i do have wednsday off, which is wonderful. so, normal classes tomorrow, chinese, work and lab tuesday. fortunately, the lab is only a dissection, so i may be able to escape around 2-2:30. but, its the rat lab, which will obviously take more time than say the worm lab. but! so very soon, and then i get a break. and after that, im fairly sure i only have one more week of classes before exams start. see, here we have exams across two weeks. well, i have no exams at all the first week, so im going home since i can study better there. then, i can come back monday in time for my afternoon test, then hang around for the next two exams, and im home-free. granted, thats three exams in three days but theyre all afternoon ones. so ill get to try to sleep in. fortunately, my roommate seems to understand now that normal people actually sleep when they dont hav class, so she usually leaves when she gets up ridiculously early. (8 am on a saturday, whyyyyy???) so, thats the rest of inus semester. also, turns out ill know if im going to study abroad sometime in january *dancy* man i really really hope that works out.

i will also have art when i come home. a generous amount of it. 6 complete things so far, and a few sketches that i must finish. such as the final for my art class. which is due soon. ^^' hm...if i may ask the opinions of artists or art appreciaters out there: this picture has my dog, and i want to finish him in graphite. however, the border has nautical signal flags, which are meaningless in black and white. how nasty would it look if i mixed graphite and colored pencil??

maaaaan, there are going to be some annoyed teachers this week. campus emptied last night as people went to go raid game stores for a WII. i dont think theres been anything productive all day.

quote of the day:
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, prepare to die." - Klingon Proverb, Star Trek

yes. im a nerd. i like star trek. i have music from it and recorded episodes. live long and prosper.

rain rain go away...
shut up, its been raining and nasty. and cold. really cold. inu doesnt like cold and rain. i want my 100+ degree summer back, dang it.

well, id be fine with it raining again tomorrow morning (this morning when most of you see it) because i get to sleep in, and rain makes it so much better to know you dont have to get up and go anywhere. well, actually i have to be up and out by 11, but that doesnt really count.

thanksgiving break is coming up, all rejoice! classes here end tuesday, so ill get at least one free day before the relatives descend on our house. dont have to rake the leaves this year ^___^ which makes me so very happy. (its so pointless, theyll just be back the next day. but mom insists, therefore it shall be done)

going to talk with my advisor this afternoon so i can get my study abroad application done. i talked to my chinese teacher about it, and she said that was far as she knows the competition isnt that bad. so theres a reasonable chance inu might go to china ^^

quote of the day:
“If there’s a door to heaven, where's my key? On second thought, where's my lockpick.”

who needs a religion to find eternal happiness?

pointless posting
finally the weekend. not that i actually plan to do anything, but hey. hoping to sleep in tomorrow (or today when you see this). im not sure, i havent been here on a weekend for quite awhile, but im hoping my roommate doesnt get up at 7 again and turn on lights.

ive got a nice bit of art already for when im next home (granted some of it int close to finished, but hey). i finished my dragon from a few posts back, and it looks awesome. also got a contest entry for dA. dunno if thatll come here. did another videogame character for liana, this time reno from FFVII. and finally im working on an info thing for our story, attempting to show size relations between our characters/creatures.

also, check out yesterdays post.

quote(s) of the day:
2 today, a deep meaningful one, and a funny one

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." –Unknown

art thief alert
heads up myo, we got another one. venom-wolf has blatently ripped off shadow-wolf from dA as well as claiming abyss-dog of dAs characters. i know abyss and shadow have reported him, and ive called him on it too. hopefully he'll be kicked off soon. so, you real artists out there, go let this jerk know that the art community watches out for each other.ive never actually spoken to abyss or shadow before today, but i wont watch anyone suffer having their hard work stolen by one of these idiots.

atomicstoney on dA said it best with this: How to Draw... get a clue. do your own work.

i suppose this is one of the perks of being a lesser-known amateur artist. so far as i know, no ones ripped off my stuff yet.

free day ^___^
yay for having thursdays off. and yay for it being almost friday. lots of yays in there. im finished then.

this week has been much less stressful than last. only one test, and im not terribly concerned (tis chinese, i can do that) ive found some time to draw (of course its not what im supposed to be doing) ive got this ridiculous little comic of stupidity that one of my friends suggested, which ended up amusing my entire music class. aaaand i drew a dragon (oh big surprise) but this is a special dragon. see, i saw someone do a really cool patterned dragon, and i wanted to try. you know when youre underwater and you see the pattern of light and dark? that pattern on a dragon. its cooool. needs a background though. whats a good background for a flying dragon thats not extremelly blue?

um...i suppose thats about it. not coming home this weekend (*gasp*), so no art until thanksgiving (literally, i have classes through the day before) but by then there should be a lot.

quote of the day:
“When they discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed to discover they are not it.” -Bernard Bailey

on a related note, liana and i have finally gotten back to updating our quotes site. its in my profile, so go check it out. weve got tons: 70+pgs in word.

of pointless ramblings
well, not a whole lot going on in the world of inu. which is a good thing. have a little over a month of school left, counting exam weeks. thats nice. going to be an intense month though. im expecting to be attacked with tests and whatnot before thanksgiving at least, to say nothing of exam weeks proper.

liana and i are progressing in our story. were onto the second revision and weve roped in a proof-reader. i discovered a teacher on campus who has published fiction before, and wrote her asing for advice. hope she answers.

im going to apply to study abroad next year. trying to get in touch with the teacher in charge of that, since i havent the slightest clue how to go about it. unfortunately, i dont know how to spell his name, and i cant seem to find him on the website. its annoying. anyway, inu hopes to go to china for a semester.

i was reminded of this poem (that was actually written for me), and thought id share. you artists out there will appreciate this.

Artistic Passion

"Through the pencil,my mind flows
onto the paper, my emotion goes

Shade away the darkest times
Erase mistakes and painful crimes

Color in the eyes of a friend in pain
bring about clouds, tempests and rain

The world at my penciltip, I own teh sun and sky
Is this what power feels like, what it is like to fly?

To soar above the highest peaks, all by graphite?
should I build my world in love, or crash it all in spite?

Few can truly hold this right, to use it without self.
Those with luck who get it, best leave it on the shelf

For such power can corrupt, even souls so pure
To hold a universe in your hand, is such sweet allure!

Even if that universe, so little in our own
can never be seen, if none are ever shown

Art is a gift, to people who can just enjoy
not just those well-to-do, just a common girl or boy.

So look around and appreciate, what many fight to make
those who struggle to catch an eye, or give a breath to take

Michelangelo took the risk, painted cielings and more
if he stood aside, hed have painted the Sistine floor.

an artist takes a chance, to corporealize their heart
read paintings like a book, a multifaceted art.

Layers to a drawing, both shaded dark and plain
without a source of outlet, an artist goes insane.

So look with heart and eyes, learn to feel the grace
Forget about the comments, look art deep in the face

For in each heart there is, a skill for interpretation
Art is to be enjoyed, meanings for consideration

So give the world a chance, give art some time
with a steady hand and inspiration, all can be sublime"

written by sage. hes good, as you can see.

that was your quote for the day too.

warning: rampant venting within
youve been warned, inus a wee bit stressed and chooses to rant in writing.

ok, so, its friday. should be easy, or at least normal so far as classes go, right? or not. not only do i have a paper, a quiz and two tests, but the paper and a test are for the same class. why did he do that to us? i have no idea. the quiz came out of nowhere, along with a massive homework assignment that we didnt get until yesterday. ok, taking this one at a time.

zoology: lab practical of absolute and instant DEATH. this is the single hardest practical of that class. i have to know the classification for and be able to identify on sight: 4 phyla, 4 subphyla, 13 classes, 11 subclasses, 2 superorders, and 27 orders. holy freaking crap. so i have to be able to remember terms like "subclass xiphosuridae" (horseshoe crabs) and "order hymenoptera" (bees, wasps, ants) and correctly put the name to the animal. also, (yes, theres more) i have to be able to look at a dissected specimen and identify the internal anatomy. and i have to be able to identify the disconnected appendages of a crustacean (crayfish). anything im forgetting? no, think thats about it. see why im a little freaked out?

music: test over the romantic period and paper. have to know distinguishing things for 14 composers, as well as be able to listen to a segment of a piece and name the title and composer. sure, some of its easy such as smetena's "the mouldau" or a segment from "carmen". but when you have something like "symphony no. 8, op 42", you dont have much to go on there. there will also be some definitions of terms and such. the paper was quick enough, but its just the fact that we have a paper on a test day.

chinese: quiz and homework. quiz over the new lesson in characters. not only do we have 43 new words to learn, but we have to know the characters for them too. its easy enough to see a character and know what it means, but to have a blank page and be told to produce them, thats hard. for the homework, we had to copy 50+ characters 10 times each. that was time-consuming. and we have to write a paragraph introducing our family. in characters.

end rant

ok, its safe now. just needed to get that out there. coming home (yes, again) for homecoming. going to go to the game pretty much for the sole purpose of visiting with liana. oh yeah, ill be playing with the band too. hope to hunt down some of my old teachers and say hi. in other news, i finally got a little time to update mine and lianas quote site. got us all caught up now. so check it out.

quote of the day:
"Any problem in life can be solved with the proper use of explosives." –Digger

yay digger. 'digger' is a web comic by ursula vernon about a wombat who ends up far from home in a seriously weird place. go here to check it out.
