*witty subject*
i swear i update here for reasons other than complaining about school. but, its what keeps me from updating much, so there you have it. two tests and a paper friday, another paper monday. oy. ok, enough of that.

happy belated halloween, and happy all saints day (if you celebrate either). not many people that i saw actually dressed up yesterday. which is sad. last year a bunch of people did. i did, and it was fun. was an assassin. wore all black, had a cape and borrowed lianas sais. hehe, people with fake weapons kept challenging me to duels, and quickly retreated when they actually took the time to notice that my weapons werent plastic. hehehehe....plus wearing a cape is just fun. heh, though one group of my friends decided to coordinate on a theme, and it was funny. so i had a black mage, white mage and red mage accost me at dinner. the red mage was also in band. the trombone just made it funnier. i saw a really cheesy jedi, and it made me sad. apparently most people dressed up at the party last friday, so they didnt want to dress up again yesterday.

never thought id say it but, i dont want to go to my art class. (which is in about 20 minutes) ill spare you the detailed complaint and be on my way.

once again (for i have no new quotes) i leave you with lyrics:

"I see the world
And I'm looking from a high place
Way above it all
Standing on higher ground

I breathe the air
While they're running in a rat race
Way above it all
Standing on higher ground"

from the alan parsons project song "standing on higher ground". i dont plan for this to become lyric of the day, im just short on new quotes at the moment.

hey i lied, heres an older one:
"There is no psychiatrist like a puppy licking your face." -Ben Williams

you know its true

brain dead
had a test in chinese this morning. thats nothing unusual. however, this one was completely in characters. we havent been working on characters for more than a week or so. we had to be able to recognize characters, and translate sentences into characters. it was hard. so now my brain hurts.

man, i nearly gave myself a heart attack. i was sitting at breakfast chatting with some friends, when suddenly: "OH MY GOD I HAVE A ZOO LAB PRACTICAL!! #@%$^&*!!!!" so i bolted what was left of my breakfast and dashed back to my room in an utter panic. i grabbed my binder and snatched the syllabus, and lo and behold the practical is friday nov 3. not friday oct 27. so i proceeded to melt into a little gooey puddle of relief. that seriously would have ruined my day. these practicals are bad. really bad. if id forgotten about one...can we say academic suicide? the material for one of these (specimines, slides, etc) takes up half of the lab. literally. lianas seen this, she can add detail. *relief*

in preparation for mine and lianas book cover, im working on realistic drawing. with humanoids, thats hard for me. but i discovered a cheap way to do it that worked brilliantly. (im such a loser artist, taking short-cuts) i sketched inu in my normal anime-ish style. all thats really still anime about my style (i think) is the face shape, eyes and hair. so, once i was happy with how that looked, i went back and refined the features to make her look real. it worked, and im so pleased. tho drawing inus messy hair correctly was a bit of an experience. tried out a new pose too, and im pleased with the outcome. this is so much better than my last attempt to draw inu realistically. then again, i was trying to make that one look like me. i plan to work some more on it during work, hopefully have it up sometime tonight. yes im coming home again. have to take care of my little brother (aka the dog) while mom and dad are out of town.

once again, i shall leave you with lyrics instead of quotes:

"Well I won't back down, no I won't back down.
You can stand me up at the gates of hell,
But I won't back down.

Gonna stand my ground, won't be turned around.
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down,
Gonna stand my ground and I won't back down."

from tom petty's "i won't back down". good song.

curse the rain
its cold. and wet. and nasty. i made my online persona a fire demon for a reason. i like dry and hot. and i have to trek all the way across campus in a bit.

ok, enough of that.

i dunno, this is just one of those weeks. been ill, its cold, and its that week for me too, which isnt helped by the cold. ick. but i have tkd tonight, which is always good. and my roommate wasnt up at an indecent hour, so i managed to actually get some sleep. wanted to stay in bed what with the rain, but enh.

ill be home once again this weekend, and i plan to spend a lot of time drawing. since i get little enough time to do so here outside of art class, but that doesnt count since he wont let us draw our own stuff once were done with his assignments. i swear, this is the only art class ive been in that discourages creativity. we draw from life. only. no exceptions. wheres the fun there? urgh, we start with models today. im not the most conservative person out there, but id rather not spend 2 hours drawing a nude model.

rather than a quote, i leave you with some lyrics.
"O Fortuna
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem."

no real purpose to that, i just like the song. if you dont happen to speak latin, try googling "carmina burana"

oy...
man, i hate it when i mix up assignments for classes. to my credit, the teacher was really vague about due dates. this is chinese. she told us friday we had a partner dialogue, a massive worksheet, and our workbook due this week. she changed the dates a couple times in class, but i was pretty sure i got it down. so, i get back here late afternoon yesterday, and spend a couple hours slaving away at this worksheet. as a result, i write 750 characters (not different ones, just repetition). then, here at 10:30, i check my email to get the band rehearsal schedule, and i find an email from my partner asking when we can work on the dialogue and an email from my teacher reminding us the dialogue is due monday. my thoughts went thus: "oh sh*t!!! all that time and i did the wrong thing?!?! crap!! *frantically emails partner* please let him be on...please please let him get this..." and so, im still waiting to hear back from him. *checks email again* erk... this isnt going to end well...

(edit: to make it even better, i woke up ill this morning. urgh.)

um, in an unrelated note, id like to make a comment about my recent wolf picture. yes, i said it was a come-back against all those unnaturally colored/patterned wolves out there. and it was. do i have something against these wolves and their creators? no. at least not for being unnatural. hell, look at my character. a demonic dog/dragon hybrid who defies the laws of physics to fly? sure, thats real normal. see? original and unusual characters are good. however, just as people get tired of seeing way too much naruto/fma/etc fanart, i get tired of seeing too many funky wolves. people have done pictures blatently complaining about the amount of fanart, so why cant i? ive already been criticized for it (tho one of those was from a child who lacked the ability to spell, which just amused me no end) so, if you have one of these wolves, i didnt mean blunt insults, i just prefer real, non-genetically altered wolves. (werewolves and anthro wolves are pretty much fair game, as they dont exist and cant really have rules for them) but, a pink spotted wolf would starve to death as its prey ran away laughing after they spotted it from miles away. im a biology major, i think these things. and wolves are my old passion. seeing them green and pink and blue and polka-dotted makes me cringe. and thats my little rant on that. make of it what you will. if this really really offends you...grow up and get a sense of humor. flame me if you wish, i could use some free entertainment.

quote of the day:
“To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day.” -Sir Winston Churchill

listen up, human race. (my, im cynical tonight)

back we go
and fall break ends. such sadness. 4 days makes a difference. so, back at college. being hit immediatedly with a quiz, a test, and a lab report. -__-' not on the same day, fortunately. compared to last year, this year is so much easier. i only have one class that threatens to kill me, as opposed to three. a huge improvement. kinda annoying, i had high school students tell me it wasnt that bad, and that their class-load was worse. children, this is a smart school. we do hard work here. we work hard to even get in here. ok? ok. (sorry, that just bugged me last year)

im working on a picture (as opposed to the one im supposed to be doing. sorry liana) this was one of those where i was sitting at my desk and suddenly BAM. inspiration smacked me right between the eyes. so i had a quick sketch down before i realized id picked up my pencil. and my brain kept screaming at me to finish it. so i am. my muse is very tempermental when i dont listen.

quote of the day:
“The very existence of the flame-thrower is proof that somewhere, sometime, someone said ‘I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m not close enough to get the job done.’” –George Carlin

you cant tell me you havent thought that.

erk
i reeeeally wish teachers didnt all attack you with tests/papers right before a break. my fall break is early this year, and starts thursday. had a lab practical in zoo last friday, had a test in music yesterday, have a test in chinese this morning, and have a paper due tomorrow. dang, i even had a big art assignment due late last week. @_@ eeegh, tis all hitting at once.

ok, no more really unfounded self-pity. honestly, all that stuff isnt that bad. the practical was the worst thing (so i say now before taking the chinese test) ive had much worse work loads; i just like to complain. and i know that if i complain here, people dont have to listen, so i can get away with it. (so dont call me a whiny b*tch, or ill draw not-nice pictures of you)

in other news, i do have some new art up. there was just a tiny blurb the other day, so now i shall clarify. i uploaded 5, but only one is here. the rest are on dA.

just to add a snippet to that, one of the pics i put up there is fanart in the best way. i stumbled across amazing art and stories of an alien race online, so i drew one (with full permission from the artist, i might add) since shes awesome, im trying to spread the word around.
so, heres the site:
Cheldzan Jokku

and heres my little version (because i like it and wanna show it off. and i know most of you wont go to dA to see it):
Jokkad eperu

now go, be amazed by awesome-ness.

quote of the day:
“Education: that which reveals to the wise, and conceals from the stupid, the vast limits of their knowledge.” -Mark Twain

man, leave it to a writer to say the pure truth

zhong jio qie kuai le!
(dont ask me how to pronounce all that; i cant write it phonetically)

happy moon day to one and all. and happy friday, as it were. moon day is essentially chinese thanksgiving. spend time with family and all that. we didnt do much in chinese this morning, class wise. we just celebrated and learned some of the history. and we had moon cakes. id say those are definately an aquired taste. especially the ones with lotus seed filling.

i have a zoo lab practical at 1. shoot me, please. by the way, its pronounced "zo-ology" not "zoo-ology". sorry, pet peeve. nearly everyone gets it wrong. including people in my class. that was funny. geh, anyway, ive been staring at jellyfish and sponges for days now, and im starting to lose my mind.

coming home this afternoon. im going pretty much straight to lianas once ig et back in town, so art will be tomorrow. i dont have that much stuff, and most of it will be on dA. but there it is.

this is so random, but theres a point. you know that god-awful computer speech? acronyms, abbreviations, numbers in place of letters, all that crap? its annoying enough trying to read it, but trying to decipher it when people say it aloud is ridiculous. i have heard far too many people say "haha lawl" "brb" and "zomg!" in normal conversation. why? somebody tell me why people speak like this. random, yes, but its annoying. speak a real language people!

quote of the day:
