Woodstock - Joni Mitchell

The same is going on today that went on Thursday and Friday. My editor will succeed in giving me a nervous break down any moment now. I'm on the edge, I tell you.

I bought some new yaoi manga Wednesday too. I hope to get it on Monday, but it's coming from the west coast, so who knows?

I also traced down the meaning of "soubi." I think it means "sublime, magnificent beauty." Of course, I don't know the kanji, or what have you.

Everyone should stop by marz's site and tell her how great her Furuba theme is. I really think it's adorable! Also, check out Living Dolls AMV of the week. I died laughing.

EDIT: My manga just arrived! Yahoo! I got lots of great BL titles, too. Plus some Japanese candy: I have no clue what some of it actually is--looks like candied trail mix and taffy, maybe?

Psychokiller - Talking Heads

Not much to say...My editor in chief is driving me up the wall, so I haven't posted here lately. I've also been downloading the last episodes of Trinity Blood (Shinsen Subs) and the latest episodes of Cluster Edge (AniKraze). Cluster Edge is slow, but kinda interesting. I've only watched two of the four episodes so far, so I hope I'll know whether or not I really want to invest in the series after I watch 3 & 4 tonight. Also, Soul Society has scanlated chapters 100 and 101 of Furuba (Go Shigure; get some).

As you can see, I decided on a Loveless theme for November. This is Soubi. If you haven't checked out the anime or manga. You really ought to. Those of you who know Japanese: what does "soubi" mean? Anyway, i'll attempt to get at least 4 Loveless wallpapers up this month (already got this one and 2 others of Soubi made).

Well, i'll sign off now. I'll be coming around before midnight to visit the updaters for today (I'll take some time to squeeze the visiting in after watching Cluster Edge).

Buck-Tick's Dress

OK. I've been trying to upload the 700MB Hiro Sub version of FF7 Advent Children to Yousendit for the last four days for some folks on a forum I visit. The connection kept slowing to a crawl. Plus, you can't ever tell how much of the file you've uploaded using YSI (I have a wireless network connection, so I can't even clock my upload amount). Finally got all 700MBs uploaded (I wonder how long the link will last? Seven days from the day the file was finished uploading or from the time I started the upload?)! Anyway, it's a real pain having my upload amount throttled for 4 days. Four days!! I also had to scale back on BT, and I haven't been able to watch the new Trinity Blood fansub because of it (dang it all). I think the connections are slow because of hurricane damage, maybe? Anyway, I send out my emotional/spiritual support to everyone dealing with the aftermath. Feel free to unburden yourselves here, since I bitched about the connection time. You deserve it!

I can't believe Halloween is coming up so fast. It'll be our first holiday in the new house. Though we have 4 pumpkins on the front stairs, we haven't carved them (yet?). It also appears that our neighborhood really thinks highly of this holiday. Those who live behind us have even strung up green lights (why?!). I have more work to do in the next few days, so I probably won't be able to put up a festive theme here or anything. I might use one of my old Witch Hunter Robin themes, though.

Anyway, I thought I'd update. Not really much else going on here. Wasted all day yesterday watching "I love the 80s." Why? Why do I do this?...I guess cause I couldn't do much online? Or, maybe it's just that I love the 80s!

EDIT:
Check out this item description on eBay (read the Q&As). It's hilarious. Leather Pants

...the hell?

I have nothing to say, really, but I thought I'd be lynched if I went AWOL so soon. Ummm...

OK. Trinity Blood--it's NOT yaoi. Do not fear. Some were confused by my last post.

BTW, if you see a GrayUnderpants, gray_underpants, or GrayUndies out there, that really is probably me. Say "hi" if you want! I did write the Stigma summary for Obsession (though they justified the margins, and it looks like the spaces are all out of whack. *shrugs* Beware the yaoi pr0n if you go there--we bite). Stigma's a really cool manga, and it's only light BL, so you might want to dig up the scanlation for it. It's full color--soooo pretty. Still, I probably like Wild Adapter better; You can get Wild Adapter and Bus Gamer from Emerald Eyes scan group. So ends the Kazuya Minekura places to go on the Web. :D

So...how many of you watch Lost? Am I the only geek out there? I've been a fan of Harold Perrineau forever ( of Mercutio in Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet fame).

EDIT:
Shinkiro makes some notes about the scans from Emerald Eyes in her comment. Please, read it!

It's been a long time since I Rock & Roll...

Hey, minna!

It's been a while...again. Gomen... Seriously, if you all comment on this post, I'll be terribly surprised. I've been busy with my general life stuff, scanlation group, and whatnot for a while now. Don't hate me! :D

Anyway. I've been also really bogged down in the yaoi lately. I figure most of you don't want to hear more bout that...? It's basically been my entire last couple of months. Sex Pistols and yaoi forums are consuming my life. At last, the fan scan of Haru chapter 40 is out. I'm already wishing for the next chapter.

On the anime front, I've been watching the fansubs of Kyou Kara Maou and Trinity Blood lately. I'm really enjoying TB so far (of course I love KKM), and it's not yaoi at all, so I think everyone would enjoy it. I hope more gets fansubbed soon, 'cause I'm going through withdrawal. Also, after burning the fansub of Loveless to DVD, I can't stop watching it. It spins non-stop in my DVD player. It's constantly on in the background. I figure I'll eventually pick up Japanese this way (*Ha! I wish!* @.@).

Non-Otaku stuff:
Hmmmm...one of the books I need for my dissertaion has been recalled by the library. I'm having to send it in to my university, now that I'm off-campus. *sigh*

EDIT:
I made this wallpaper from a wonderful piece of art made by Heise. Check out her deviantart account by clicking her name. She's great!

[whatever]

Not much has been happening for the last couple of days. I just learned that Toast will actually convert your AV files into VCD or DVD format for you. Duh. Why didn't I know this? I can get so many anime off my hard drive now. Only, it takes a shitload of memory and is extremely slow while performing the encoding process. That's one of the things I'm getting bogged down with. Also, I need to do some work on the scanlation today because I can't really keep photoshop moving at a smooth pace with all the other applications I've had open at the same time.

Last night, I had Mexican food--not that the local cantina makes me too enthusiastic. Still, the chimichanga was fairly good (just sloppily wrapped). Chimichangas are my favorite, but then, it is fried, so you probably guessed that, ne? My cousin (the one who just got back from India, NOT the redneck) and I talked about Rockstar:INXS over our chips and salsa. We both feel that MiG will be in the final 3 because the Australians will power-vote him there. It's not fair, because he really doesn't perform quite as well as Marty or JD (even though I don't like JD, he's an amazing performer from time to time). Anyway, we're tuning in tonight to see whether MiG has to finally sing INXS. I hope he will. I really want to know he can handle it.

Nausica0--
Unfortunately, I don't get those new releases before anyone else; there really aren't too many perks to joining a group. But I like to be a part of it. Plus, Obsession is so much nicer than the other group I thought about offering help to, I kinda decided to join Obsession just because I thought they'd appreciate my contribution better. :D

Misfits--Angelfuck

Sunday, I got up late, and my sister and I had practically no time to meet my family at my cousin's birthday party on time. Somehow, we made it there, though, without killing ourselves. My grandparents were looking particularly feeble. It's hard to watch them, and even harder to talk to them. They both go wit-wandering sometimes, and they talk about people I don't know. I hate to think how little of a connection I really have with two people whom I love so much.

My cousin was her usual pampered self. I guess it is her day, after all, but every conversation that didn't revolve around her was somehow turned into a conversation that only she participated in by either her or her mother. Suddenly, my sister's recent health issue was all about my cousin's recent health issue. The pictures my other cousin took on her trip to India suddenly turned into a discussion of the b-day girl's wedding pictures. It's just like that whenever she's around. We accept and move on, I suppose.

Recent manga and anime:
I've watched Sukisyo, a short yaoi/BL anime this past week or so. It's pretty good, and i would urge BL fans to check it out. I've also downloaded the Spiral, Kyo Kara Maou, and Trinity Blood episodes that I haven't seen yet. I would recommend them as well. There might be the shades of light BL, but certainly nothing that would raise too many eyebrows.

As far as manga is concerned, I'm suffering because my latest shipment is on backorder--and the place I ordered it from keeps pushing back my ship date! I've been catching up on the scans of Furuba, though. It's getting really good. I've also been reading yaoi scans that I hadn't accessed before: Sex Pistols, Kamisama no Ude no Naka de, and Kawaii Gate Kudasai. Another hard (twisted) yaoi title I've been strangely enthusiastic about recently is Shiiku Gakari Rika. It's just so twisted. :D

On the Shoujo front, I've been reading scans for Love Celeb, You're So Cool (can't get my hands on vol3, ch5 because it won't decompress on my mac. If anyone wants to send me the chapter, please let me know!), Flower, and Stroke Material. I'm trying to amass all of the scans of Hot Gimmick that have been released, too.

Marty Casey--Trees

Hi, again! My mom is on her way over, and I've got to get ready for the day soon, even though its Saturday and I expected to sleep late. Seriously, since my sister has been having health issues, my mom has stopped by almost every day. I'm glad she's so dedicated, but while she's here, I can't get on the computer much. I guess because I never had a computer until I went off to college (way the hell back in 1993 *couch, wheez, my arthritis*), my family think it's incredibly rude to eschew human interaction when it's readily available. :D

I think I've gotten around to everyone who posted in the last 15 days or so. Some of you are just the same as always, while others of you seem to be going through some tough times. I'm surprised that there are so many college Freshmen on my friends list. I wish you all the luck in the world on meeting your educational and career goals. Don't choose English Lit to major in. You will not have a job for you when it's all over (they said that to me, too, but I didn't listen--now I feel it).

In other events, for some reason, I couldn't sleep last night. So, I was up 'til all hours (3:30) downloading music. Today, my sister and I have to make a run to the store and buy something for my cousin's birthday tomorrow. You may remember the dearly-loved bumpkin? That's her. Her mom teats her like she's still an 8 year old, but at least I get pizza and lots of sugary food, right?

I'll let you all know how that went tomorrow, and I'll try to actually say something about anime/manga too. :D

Somebody Told Me--The Killers

Whew! I've been away for such a long time! I hope you'll all forgive me. I've had an interesting month. I actually thought my part-time copyediting job would raise my hours for a while there, but unfortunately not. I did get a pay raise, though! But, now I'm back down to about 10 hours of work per week. It's pretty boring, actually. We sit around and quibble over appropriate Chicago-style documentation for online and translated resources. Zzzzz...

In other news, my sister had a kidney stone! She couldn't pass it by Labor Day, so she was wheeled into surgery early this week. They couldn't perform the lithotripsy because it was lodged too close to her ovaries. They had to go in and blast it apart with a lazer. Her recovery was slow, and she's still nauseated by the anesthetic. The nurses at her doctor's office and at the hospital were complete idiots. If you become a nurse, don't presume to think you know more about a patient's sufferings than your patient does (my sis had to call for a prescription for nausea today, even though she explained she was nauseous before being released from the hospital). Also, don't presume you know more about drugs than someone who is a doctor of pharmacy--they know when you're BSing them, or faulty in your own knowledge (whichever these conditions afflicted those nurses--I'm not sure which).

Also, I opted to edit scans for a scanslation group. We'll see how well that goes. My test was deemed "OK," so who knows what these people really think of my skills? Still, I'm excited. And, somehow, I'm supposed to be working on my dissertation through all of this. Yeah...that's gonna happen. Seriously, it seems like the least fun thing I can imagine doing right now.

Rockstar: INXS--Obsession follows--
Well, Jordis is gone. She was really declining in energy and confidence this week, and I never enjoyed her performances as much as some of the others (she should have been axed after botching Layla and Dream On). But, I do think she has amazing talent, and I hope to see more of her in the future. I can't believe JD is doing so well. He's just so sleazy; he makes all of his songs sleazy, even when they aren't supposed to be. He's like dirty Elvis. Marty's original song, "Trees," was amazing. I couldn't believe he didn't win that encore this week, nor that MiG wasn't in the bottom three (his generic song made me want to do something drastic to one of us).
