Man!, that weekend went by way too fast. o_O

Well, it's official. Our house, that we are renting, is on the market. We have one of those realtor signs out in our front yard. I'm just so excited about having complete strangers coming into my house and looking around. (Note the sarcasm in my voice.)

We have been looking a little. But nothing concrete as of yet. There's one that we are interested in that is right across the street from my sons' school. Talk about convenient.

My weekend started off on a bad note actually. There is a house just four houses down from ours that has been empty for awhile now. And we wanted to see if we could rent it. The only problem is that someone started moving into it on Saturday. I was really bummed. I'm sure we'll find something.

Ok, I'll get on with the Otakubowl. Here's Monday's matches.

Anime Series Old

Record of Lodoss War vs Yu Yu Hakusho

Anime Series New

Inuyasha vs Last Exile

Movie

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust vs Naruto the Movie

Manga

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind vs Gantz

Video Game

Super Mario Bros. vs The Legend of Zelda

And there you have 'em.

I'm gonna head out now. I hope everyone had a great weekend. And may your Monday not be a typical Monday. ^_^

I think I got to everyone. If I missed visiting your site, then just give me a nudge in a comment and say, "hey!... you forgot me!" ^_^

Well, this wraps up the first week of the Otakubowl. I'd say it's going pretty good so far. The ties get to be a bit frustrating. But it's all good.

I'd like to give a huge thanks to those who have helped promote this thing. I wish there were something I could give in return. So, if there is something I can help you with. Or if you can think of anyway that I can repay you, let me know.
There won't be any matches over the weekend. So, I will only post the results of Friday's matches. Then the next matches will be on Monday.

Also, I want to stress on that if there is a tie match and you did not vote on that match, please cast your vote. I really don't like having the tie matches drag out for so long. (Thank you bunches WoD for breaking that one for me. Hugs)

Tie match again for Friday's matches. So, everyone will have all weekend to break this one. Here's the results from Friday's matches.

Tie match
The Vision of Escaflowne(5) vs Gundam Wing(5)

Genshiken(2) vs Wolf's Rain(9)

Blood: The Last Vampire(2) vs Ghost in the Shell(9)

DNAngel(8) vs Nana(2)

Dragon Quest 8(3) vs DDR(5)

And that's it until Monday's matches.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm not sure if I'll be around or not. If not, see ya around on Monday. Take care.

Catcha later...

[Edit] I just wanted to mention that the tie between The Vision of Escaflowne vs Gundam Wing has ended with a vote for Gundam Wing. Actually, I ended up with two more votes for Gundam Wing. But I only take the first tie breaking vote. Something similar happened with the tie match between Gungrave vs Bleach. I received a vote for Gungrave. Then shortly after that received a vote for Bleach. If I continued to take more than one vote, the tie would continue on. So, it's the first tie breaking vote I receive.
Also, remember to check the line-up at the top of my site here to see how it stands so far.
Thanks for voting everyone! [Edit]

Please, someone break this tie:

Fushigi Yugi vs Card Captor Sakura

That match is from Wednesday, and I can't update the line-ups at the top until I get one more tie breaking vote. So if you know of anyone who likes either of those two anime, send 'em on over and I will pay them a visit and thank them for voting. Also, the tie between The Legend of Dragoon and Kingdom Hearts ended with one vote for Kingdom Hearts. So, The Legend of Dragoon is done. T_T

And now to Thursday's matches. It seems there is another tie here as well. So, anyone who did not vote Thursday is eligible to break the tie. Here's the results.

Outlaw Star(10) vs Orphen(2)

Tie Match
Gungrave(6) vs Bleach(6)

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind(10) vs Patlabor 3: WXIII(1)

666 Satan(4) vs Fruits Basket(6)

Devil May Cry(6) vs Tekken 5(4)

And now on to Friday's matches.

Anime Series Old

The Vision of Escaflowne vs Gundam Wing

Anime Series New

Genshiken vs Wolf's Rain

Movie

Blood: The Last Vampire vs Ghost in the Shell

Manga

DNAngel vs Nana

Video Game

Dragon Quest 8 vs DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)

Well, there you have it.

And that's all I'm gonna post for today. Take care.

Well, it has happened. We have a couple of ties in the Otakubowl. So, I haven't updated the line-ups yet. I'm going to post the results here, and since the results of the tied matches don't have second round matches until next week, I will accept one more vote on those. (I specified how I would handle ties in the rules above.) However, it has to be someone who hasn't voted yet. So, once I get that one tie breaking vote for each category that is stuck in a tie, I will update the line-ups.

Here's the results from Wednesday.

Tie match
Fushigi Yugi(5) vs Card Captor Sakura(5)

Samurai Champloo(7) vs DNAngel(5)

Saiyuki: Requiem(3) vs Spirited Away(9)

Sokora Refugees(3) vs Godchild(4)

Tie match
The Legend of Dragoon(6) vs Kingdom Hearts(6)

So, the next tie breaking vote will finish it. *crosses fingers that next person like Legend of Dragoon* ^_^

And here's Thursday's matches.

Anime Series Old

Outlaw Star vs Orphen

Anime Series New

Gungrave vs Bleach

Movie

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind vs Patlabor 3: WXIII

Manga

666 Satan vs Fruits Basket

Video Game

Devil May Cry vs Tekken 5

I finally got to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire today. It's a good movie. There's one thing that I noticed though. As good as all of the Harry Potter movies are, to me none of them quite capture that initial awe I had when I saw the first one. I'm not saying that the others aren't good. I like them a lot. I think it's just when you see something new that is awe inspiring, it's hard to get that in later ones. Or maybe it's just me. o_O

Well, that's all for now. Take care.

Well it went just fine with the realtors. They don't know yet if the owners are going to put it on the market or not. They are thinking about it. Which means that most likely they will, and to answer your questions, yes I will have to move. But I plan on staying in the same area. And hopefully near the same neighborhood if possible.

Since I've been so busy working on my home. And especially if I am going to be moving in the next couple of months. My time is going to be severely limited. So, I decided I'm only going to visit those who visit me. I have on many occasions visited others who didn't necessarily visit me simply because it happens. People post, but they don't have the time to visit people. And I understand that others are crunched for time as well. But when you have 5 or more people updating but not visiting. That takes too much time. Just so you know. Also, with having the Otakubowl, I would like everyone to know that if others who are not on my friends list would like to come and participate they can with no strings attached. What I mean by that is that I'm not expecting anyone to come and sign my guestbook and add me as a friend just so they can participate in it. They can just stop by and vote. And in return I will visit them and thank them for voting. Seems only fair.

Ok, enough rambling. Let's get on with the show. ^_^

Here's the results from Tuesday's matches.

Evangelion(10) vs Vampire Princess Miyu(4)

Hellsing (7) vs Naruto (8)

Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door(7) vs Vampire Hunter D(6)

Samurai Deeper Kyo(4) vs Black Cat(7)

Dragonball Z: Sagas(1) vs Final Fantasy VII(seven)(11)

Some of those were really close. My votes pretty much went the same. Except I went with Hellsing instead of Naruto. So, once again, the winners advance and the losers are done. Check the line-ups at the top of my page to get an idea of where this is heading so far.

Also, I had to make one adjustment to the line-up in the Video Games category. I had Kingdom Hearts 2 set to go Wednesday. But considering it won't be released here until the 28th, I moved it to compete on the 29th. So, rush out and buy it on the 28th so you'll have one day to decide if you like it or not. ^_^

Ok, here's Wednesday's matches.

Anime Series Old

Fushigi Yugi vs Card Captor Sakura

Anime Series New

Samurai Champloo vs DNAngel

Movie

Saiyuki: Requiem vs Spirited Away

Manga

Sokora Refugees vs Godchild

Video Game

The Legend of Dragoon vs Kingdom Hearts

The Video Game category match has me a bit worried. The Legend of Dragoon is my all-time favorite video game, yet I know how popular KH is. So, I'm just crossing my fingers here. ^_^

Well, that's all for now. Take care.

Here's the results from Monday's matches.

Cowboy Bebop(9) vs Big O(1)

Get Backers(2) vs Fullmetal Alchemist(6)

Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala(0) vs Princess Mononoke(8)

Naruto(8) vs Full Moon wo Sagashite(0)

HALO(9) vs Inuyasha(0)

The winners will move on to the next round. And the losers are done. I was a bit surprised on some of those. Though, I went with the majority as well except the manga category. I can't vote in that category since I've never read a manga yet. Don't give me that look. ^_^

Here's the matches for Tuesday.

Anime Series Old

Evangelion vs Vampire Princess Miyu

Anime Series New

Hellsing vs Naruto

Movie

Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door vs Vampire Hunter D

Manga

Samurai Deeper Kyo vs Black Cat

Video Game

Dragonball Z: Sagas vs Final Fantasy VII(seven)

And there you have it. Please remember, I did not choose these matches. They were randomly drawn. I know some of them can be a bit difficult to choose.
Also, remember you can check out the line-up grid at the top of my page in the section with the Otakubowl banner. Just scroll down a bit.

I don't have time to post much more. I found out that the owners of the house I'm renting are wanting to sell it. And some realtors are coming over Tuesday. So, I have a lot to do. I will visit sites though. If I don't get to yours Monday night, then I will most definitely get to it on Tuesday. And thanks to everyone for participating in the Otakubowl.

Take care everyone.

The time has come. It is finally here. It is now time for the Otakubowl to begin. *loud introduction music here* ^_^

Today's match ups are:

Anime Series Old

Cowboy Bebop vs Big O

Anime Series New

Get Backers vs Fullmetal Alchemist

Movie

Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala vs Princess Mononoke

Manga

Naruto vs Full Moon wo Sagashite

Video Game

HALO vs Inuyasha

Now vote on as many categories as possible. However, if you choose not to vote in any categories, you don't have to. I'd like to get as many votes as possible for all of the categories.

And thanks for participating!

That's all I'm going to post for today. I need to catch up on visiting sites. That's right, I did not say I wouldn't be visiting sites. I said I wouldn't be able to until later. And now it's later. ^_^

Take care.

Hey everyone!

I see there is a shiny new feature here. The Portfolio. (I added a link to mine at the top.) I think it's a good idea. I can only hope that perhaps it can get more people to check out other's submitted works.

One idea I think would be nice is to have a number of times viewed on our submitted works instead of relying on votes or comments. I'm not really interested in ratings. And if someone really doesn't like something, or thinks something needs improvement, they can leave a comment. But if there was a way of just giving a statistic of how many times a particular work has been viewed, then it may reflect a more accurate number of how much something is being recognized. I don't know how easily something like that could be implemented. But I think it would be great. Anyone else share my opinion?

I apologize, but I won't be able to visit sites until later this evening. Currently it's 5:30 pm my time. So, I will get to everyone later on. Also, I'm going to be posting the first match ups for the Otakubowl tomorrow. Yes, it finally begins. I'm really excited to see how things go. And as I mentioned in my previous post, I had no part in deciding the match ups. I drew the titles at random. Some of the match ups are going to be really tough to choose. May the best titles win. ^_^

Oh, I have now seen 5 Miyazaki movies. I recently saw Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Porco Rosso. I really enjoyed both. I hope all of you who had not seen Spirited Away before got a chance to catch it on Saturday.

Well, that's all for now. Take care.

Well, I finally have all of the nominations for the Otakubowl. I'm going to start the competition on March 20. I changed my profile section above so that the Otakubowl info appears instead of my usual info. I have added some new stuff to it, including a list of all of the contenders. When the competition begins I will put the match up grids at the top.

I already have the match ups lined up. However, I'm not going to post them because I don't want votes on match ups until they take place. And there will only be one match up per category each day. So no one will know what the match ups will be until I post them for each day. Also, the easiest way for me to put the match ups together was to just draw them randomly. So, I had no part in deciding them. That would have been very hard for me to do. And as it is, with the random drawing, there are some match ups that are tough ones.

I think that about covers what's going on with the Otakubowl.

There has been, and will be, some exciting stuff going on in anime. Or atleast in my opinion. Many of you may or may not know about Cartoon Network airing some Hayao Miyazaki movies later this month. What's really cool is that the airing dates correspond with the Otakubowl. ^_^
There was an article written on otaku.com about the Miyazaki movies on Cartoon Network on February 25. Some of you may have read it. If not, and you hadn't heard the news. Spirited Away will air March 18, followed by Princess Mononoke on March 25. Castle in the Sky will air April 1, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind will air April 8. All four films will air at 7:30 p.m.

I had seen Spirited Away last month when it was on Cartoon Network. But I had not seen any other of his films. So, recently I decided to check some out. I have now seen Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and my favorite, Howl's Moving Castle. Next I will be watching Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind today or tomorrow. I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with these movies. I'm anxious to see more of them. I highly recommend seeing them to anyone who has not.

Also, Turner Classic Movies has aired his movies off and on as well. I know that on March 25 they will be airing Spirited Away at 2:00 pm Eastern. So, I guess if one misses it on Cartoon Network on the 18th, they can catch it the next weekend. Then they will be airing Castle In The Sky and Porco Rosso on May 5. Though, they will be on in the middle of the night.

Now even more spectacular news. Cartoon Network has started showing Trigun again. I know, they have showed it many times. But Trigun is my favorite anime and I can never get tired of watching it. ^_^

Well, I think that's all for now. I'll be off to visit sites now. Take care.

Ok, I have a question. It occurred to me that many of you are busy right now with school. However, spring break is coming up in just around a month. So, my question is should I hold off on the Otakubowl until then? I think the turn out might be better if I do. I know some of you are anxious for it to get started, and I am too. But I'd like to get as many people involved in this as possible.

And thank you to everyone for giving me plenty of extra nominations.

And now onto the news. Hmmm, there doesn't seem to be any headlines. The weather has been cold here. It's supposed to get a little bit warmer, though. *thumbs up*

I've been watching the Winter Olympics quite a bit. I'm what you'd call an Olympics junkie. I enjoy watching most of the events. Though, for Winter Olympics I think I enjoy watching the different Snowboarding events, and Men's Speedskating. I love to watch Apolo Anton Ohno and Chad Hedrick. Those two are awesome.

Oh, and for anyone who has been following it at all. Snowboarder Hannah Teter was asked what she had been listening to and she mentioned a band called Strive Roots. It turns out that her boyfriend is the guitarist for the band. Well, I went to their site and checked 'em out. They are a pretty good band. Not exactly what I listen to most of the time. But I could see myself listening to that kind of music on occasion.

Well, that's about all I can think of to talk about right now. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care.
