Club Updates
Some official type business here. But first, two things. 1.) Welcome to THAT Braindeadguitar and BurningD! 2.) If you haven’t voted on events yet, then scroll to the post right below this one and vote! ^_^
Okay, and to jump right to it… we are going to start a THAT relay system if we can. This is going to need a LOT of volunteers. Now this may not work out depending on if people don’t hold up to their responsibilities or we don’t get enough volunteers. But we are going to give this a trail run. Please read over this all before volunteering.
How this will work: When an event or contest is chosen to happen an official newsletter will be written. That newsletter will then get passed on to squad leaders. Those squad leaders will then PM that letter to the members they are responsible for.
What a squad leader does: A squad leader will be assigned a certain number of people from the members list. When a newsletter comes out, it is their responsibility to PM that letter to their people. A squad leader’s group will never change, unless a member leaves the otaku, so they will always pass along the newsletters to the same group of people. The number of people assigned to a squad leader will depend on how many volunteers we get for this. Remember, THAT has a lot of members, so this will take a lot of people for it to work. The more squad leaders we have, the less PM’s everyone has to send.
How to become a squad leader: To volunteer for this job simply PM this site or you may PM my personal site for this one. Please label your PM’s "squad leader" or something of the sorts. Any member of THAT can be a squad leader. Remember, a squad leader will need to pass along the newsletter to their people every time it comes out. And you will be sending out multiple PM’s. Do not volunteer for this job if you think you will not want or be able to fulfill this obligation every time. We are looking for responsible people with the time to do this. The more dedicated people we find to do this, the less work it becomes for everyone. Staff, you may volunteer as well, although I realize maintaining the site takes time as well, so it’s not required.
If you’ve read over all the info here and think this is something you’d like to help with then by all means, volunteer! ^_^ We shall see if we can kick this into gear!

Mmmkay. So in like.. the order of business or something? Let's get started.
Welcome to THAT, Rrinthary, whitecat, kitty cat girl, peibu, Hishyama Shark, Haruko lone fox, kamenki, purplepenguins24, cosmo2389, NekojinBoyKotaru, and Sakura Ryuu!
Mmm. Okay. Moving on. So we're all like wanting to be active and stuff, yesh? And some of you guys had some really good ideas!
So we're gonna have a vote on which to do (keep in mine we'll probably get to all of them eventually anyway ^__^)!
(And thank you SG for the most ideas contributed by one person XP)
1. Have members contribute random words, pick some, write up random stories using these words, and then judging who came up with the best one. Or not. Whatevs.
2. A scavenger hunt. Could be this site (ie: Looking for a fanart with something specific in it.) or around the net (looking for a site with a very specific item on it.)
3. Weekly questions
4. Squads. It's complicated. It's late. We're not gonna get into detail. Think of it as a faster way to get THAT information.
5. Making the best background (wallpaper I assume) themed around any anime of your choice, or perhaps one specific anime.
6. Banner contest. Members have a chance to get their banner to be official and stuff. W00tzors for them.
7. Intro making contest, similar to the avi contest.
8. Guild wars. Bahaha..
Anyway. Vote kiddies, we won't get anything done without you ^__^

THAT has a new-featured member! Sephy was our one hundredth member way back when, and since the featured member thing didn’t exist then, I thought it only fair to go back and catch her up. So, lets read ahead as we learn a little about our 1ooth member!
So what’s Sephy’s real name?
Josie, but i prefer to be called Sephy when online =P
How did you first find the otaku?
Through my brother (ryudostarwind), he had a site before me and i use to watch him go about it all etc etc. I got interested, and next you know, Sephy has a site of her own XD
How did you first hear of THAT?
Through my babe Shanny of course ^.^
We hear you write poetry, what do you use for inspiration in your writing?
Mines more of an angsty type thing, so i used the bottled up pain, and just the world disasters as inspiration. And by world disasters i don't mean stuff like 9/11 (no offense intended there) but i mean things like child beating, rape etc. Usually i have to be in the mood or the poem won't turn out the way i want it too.
Have you ever had, or ever thought about getting something published?
I think everyone that writes has thought about it. But then i think of the people who will read it, and i decide against it. I don't think my friends could handle the amount of depression that goes into the poems. Luckily my family understands so whenever i complete a new piece i can show them.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
I would be in my baby's arms, Mai (also known as AnimeblueGirl). I do miss her terribly, we worked out a few days ago that we've been going out for at least 5 months. We're so sappy when we get together X3

ANNOUNCEMENT 1: THAT has two new helpers. Everyone welcome Evil and ob53zt_tang3rtin3 to our staff list! Red, Beck, and I are still your local PPT’s and the banner-goddess aurus the club’s admin, but from now on Evil and ob53zt_tang3rtin3 are going to be helping the four of us out. Be nice to them and be respectful. I won’t be happy if I hear otherwise. THAT is going to be restructured a little bit to disperse some of the workload around and to get things rolling faster. But it hasn’t happened yet, so please be patient. Which brings me to my next message.
ANNOUNCEMENT 2: There are a lot of people requesting to join THAT. I know none of you have been answered yet. That does not mean you aren’t going to be accepted. It just means Shan-chan hasn’t gotten off her lazy ass to get everyone situated yet. And it won’t be until after this weekend, so please be patient. I will get back to everyone personally. If I get one more person sending multiple PM’s to this site requesting to join I’m going to pull my hair out. And we don’t want that, right?

Write songs and play my guitar
We hear you are in a band, what inspired you to start one?
What inspired me to start a band is that I listened to the band called Simple Plan and me and my friend thought we could forget about our problems by starting a band like them.
What kind of music does your band play?
Our band plays mostly punk and rock music.
Why?
We write our own songs in a punk sounding because most of our songs deal with being ignored because of being a punk.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
I would go to Hawaii. Hawaii is just a calm and peaceful sunny place where you can just lay down and relax.

THAT has two featured members right now, snow fox and cool chick. As we all know snow fox was our avatar winner and cool chick was our 200th member. In this post we’ll feature snow fox, since her time of honor is past due. Never fear cool chick, you’re next!

So, what’s snow fox’s real name?
Well, that's probably not something that anyone will learn of over the internet. I have a secret identity I must protect, you know.
How did you first hear of THAT?
I probably first heard of THAT through red tigress. It was a small group of friends then... and I just asked to join ^_^'
Was there anything that first made you interested in art?
Well, I've been drawing since I can't remember. I imagine that Disney movies first caught my attention in terms of animated art, and I remember constantly drawing Disney characters. In my mind, however, I separate my art from my fanart. I started drawing anime-like art after, well, Pokemon and Dragonball Z caught my attention. It was those shows, really, that turned me toward anime, manga, and drawing fanart ^_^'.
What are your tools or programs of choice for your art?
My favorite type of pen to use for my fanart pieces is the sakura micron brand ^_^'. For color... I'd use prismacolor pencils or any watercolors. I actually prefer watercolors to colored pencils. I don't usually use a graphics program to color pieces, but I really wish I knew how ^_^' For banners and buttons, I usually use a Paintshop Pro program. The avatar I made for the contest, however, was handrawn and touched-up in a graphics program.
What is your favorite anime? And why?
Just one? I'd have to go with Miyazaki's Spirited Away. It's so full of life... so sweet and beautifully done. And I could watch it whenever. Close runners-up are Cowboy Bebop for its funky-cool style, Evangelion for its deep psychological conflicts, and Azumanga Daioh for its randomness and cuteness ^_^.
What does snow fox like to do in her spare time?
Well, quite obviously, I spend a lot of time drawing fanart... and working on my various other art projects. I always have multiple art projects going on at once. Um, I also spend a lot of time watching anime and reading manga... but that's to be expected from an otaku, right? Other than that... I'd spend my time watching old Law & Order reruns and Joan of Arcadia.
Anything to say to your fans?
Ah, well, I'd just like to say thanks for all the support ^_^'. Theotaku has a great community... and I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to look at my fanart or visit my site. I'd especially like to thank those who comment on my fanart... the comments remind me of why I'm doing this in the first place. Feedback is always appreciated ^_^.
Anything to say about being the contest winner?
Ah, well, I'm glad people seemed to like the design I made for the avatar. All the entries were fabulous, it was a wonderful contest.
