   Alive!

Sorry for the whole week of not posting ^_^; I’ve been really busy. And tired. And depressed about my homework The list just goes on ^_^

I’ve discovered that buying books and manga is another form of therapy for me. All my busyness and anxiety just kind of built up on me Sunday morning, and when I saw how bright and sunny it was outside, I just went out the door and didn’t come back for about 3 and a half hours. Originally I was just going to the bank and gas station, then I decided to go out and look for the Fruits Basket card game since I decided it was time to buy myself something. I want those damn character cards! So, off I went to a semi-nearby comic shop to look and see if they had it (since Borders doesn’t carry it O_o). They didn’t, but they did have Trigun Maximum #8, so I bought that, and decided to run down to Gamer’s Paradise and see if they had it. They didn’t T_T They’d never even heard of it. So, I went to Waldenbooks and placated my sore feelings by buying 4 books (one of which was The Once and Future King, on sale for $7.99. Score!). Upon leaving the mall complex, I spied a Borders I had never been to before (I think), so I did a U-turn and decided to go for one last hopeless attempt at the game. I still failed to find it. But I did happen to spy the manga Juvenile Orion. Upon reading the first two chapters and scanning the back summaries, I got that shiver-y feeling that said “Buy all five volumes, it will save you gas money later…”. Of course I listened to this voice (one of the more trustworthy ones in my head), and hauled all five volumes with me to the register (and actually, they only had #5 as part of a package thingy that came with a box for the other 4 volumes, plus two little Tsukasa and Tomonori key chains, so I had to shell out 10 extra bucks for that). As I left the store, I realized two things. First, my purchase of the Juvenile Orion mangas had completely made up for not finding the card game. And second that I had left my bottle of water on the register counter of Waldenbooks back at the mall O.O After deciding to leave my water to it’s fate, I vowed to one day find those damn cards, and to finally go home and do my massive drawing project.
Well, things didn’t quite work out that way. Unable to leave unread new manga in order for homework, I quickly realized that the only way to get anything done was to just read the damn books now. So I did. In two hours. Damn does my brain hurt. Needless to say, they were good. And funny. And I wanted to cry when I discovered that the series is one of the first I’ve ever come across to NOT have an anime version somewhere. *sobs* Why! I mean, I know it’s kind of short, but that’s what 13 episode series’ are for! It would be so pretty! *has short mental break-down* Ok, I’m done whining now ^_^ *sigh* Now I’m going to have to reread the series later at a slower pace, when I have more time. I can always look forward to that! I love the humor in it. Especially the relationship between Tomonori-sensei and Tsukasa. Overall, the story seems to support that they have a very much Father-Son relationship, but the author loves to put them in situations that can be easily misunderstood *Muwahaha!* It is the inevitable fate of bishonen. Much like cross-dressing. *more evil laughter* Anyway, I must go now to actually work on this project, so I will bid you all farewell. Bye!

-Quotes of the Day-
Itsuki: “Don’t cry. This was all my fault.”
Kirihara: “No. Don’t blame yourself. You didn’t do anything.”
Itsuki: “Hello!? I tried to kill you. That’s why Kaname transformed.”
Kirihara: “Oh yeah… are you still going to kill me now?”
Itsuki: *falls face-down* “Nah, the moment’s passed.”
Kirihara: “Thank goodness.”
Itsuki: *still face-down* “I don’t believe this girl.”

Tsukasa: “Tomonori-san.” *hugs* “I wish you were my real father.”
*Kirihara runs by*
Kirihara: “Good morning!” *notices the hug* “Oh! I’m sorry. You were having a private moment.” *runs away really fast*
Tomonori: “Kirihara!! Wait a minute. Don’t misunderstand!!"
Kirihara: *as she runs away not listening* “Sorry!!”
Tomonori: “Kirihara!!”
Tsukasa: *laughs*
Tomonori: “Tsukasa.”
Tsukasa: “I do like you, Tomonori-san. Even if you aren’t my real father.”
Tomonori: *slumps* “Stop. We don’t need any more misunderstandings.”
Tsukasa: “Hahaha!”
-Juvenile Orion- (those poor, poor bishonen... ^_^)

   Noooo!!!

You know those moments when you realize one of your favorite series is over for good? Well, I had one of those recently. I finished The Bartimaeus Trilogy yesterday. And now I want to cry, both because of the ending (why is it that those British authors can always make me want to cry? I never cry!), and the fact that there'll never be another one. I highly recommend those books to any and everyone. Bartimaeus is hilarious and downright fabulous. And his casual cowardice (some would call it "sensible") reminds me a bit of Captain Jack ^_^ Just a little. But the best parts, by and far, are the footnotes; full of snide remarks, historical commentary, and general random funniness (is that even a word?). Anyway, yeah, it's good, go read.

In other news, I got the Corpse Bride soundtrack recently. I don't really care for many of the lyrical songs (except "Remains of the Day", since Danny Elfman is a good singer) but I like the music itself. So yay! And the movie is out now too (I think today, right?) Anyway, I'm going to go get it *does happy dance* So all is good. I'll be going now, so I'll see ya all later.

-Quotes of the Day- (sorry if it's a bit confusing. The footnotes are best read as they come up, and they're under each individual quote, not the quotes section as a whole)

"Let's just say that when your archenemy's trapped you in a place of certain death, and you've survived heroically against all the odds, the last thing you want to see, when you escape at last, is that same archenemy glaring down at you with an expression of annoyed distaste.(1) Not only that - you're weak, look like a jellyfish, and smell of clam chowder. In such circumstances the wind kind of goes out of your sense of triumph.

(1) Even a different archenemy would have been marginally better."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Perhaps I can't vouch for Kitty so much, but in my vast experience, strong characters of their sort tend to gravitate together. Pride has a part to play in it, and other emotions too. Neither wishes to fail; each redoubles their efforts to impress. Things get done - but not always the right things, or not always the things expected.(2) And there's not much you can do to stop it.
(2) That's how it was with Nefertiti and Akhenaton, of course. One moment it was lingering looks and assignations by the crocodile enclosure; next it was tearing up the state religion and moving Egypt's capital 60 miles into the desert. One thing just led to another."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"No human knew where I'd loitered during the barbarian invasion, and precious few spirits either. (2)

(2) The foliots Frisp and Pollux had been present when I was discovered; they'd amused themselves afterward recounting the tale to imps of their acquaintance. Sadly, both foliots and imps were all soon killed in a variety of ways during the course of a single night: a bizarre coincidence, which quite wore me out."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What is it with you and kitchens, anyway? You're always hanging about in them. (6)
(6) This was true. Ever since the royal kitchens at Ninevah, circa 700 B.C. I'd been sent there by Babylonian magicians on a diplomatic mission, e.g. to slip arsenic into Sennacherib's food during a banquet. Unfortunately, Farqual was employeed by the Assyrian king to seek assassins: he took exception to my tasty calves'-fat trifle and chased me about the hall. After the mother of all food fights I felled him with a well-aimed ham bone and made good my escape. Our relationship had generally deteriorated from there."
-Ptolomy's Gate, book 3 of The Bartimaeus Trilogy- (that series could last me a year full of daily quotes...)
   The Joys Of Wasting Time...
Yes, people, I am once again putting off doing my homework. I'm not quite sure why, since it is neither hard nor unenjoyable. It's probably because this is supposed to be my freakin weekend and I don't want to spend it doing anything but sleeping ^_^
Anywho, I think I'm basically almost done redoing the site. I'm trying to decide between songs to put in the background, but that can wait for a while ^_^
Today I went on a massive errand run and ended up buying about four books from Borders. One of which is a complete collection of the works of Edgar Allen Poe, which I got for only $8 *Muwahahaha* I love cheap good books. But I kind of made up for my thriftiness by buying the third Bartimaeus Trilogy book. Bartimaeus kicks booty, and I dare anyone to defy me! Dark humor and wit shall rule the day! And Nataniel-bashing. Gotta love those smart-ass remarks at the expense of pompous dorks (hmm, I don't think I'm making sense anymore...) Anyway, I've got to go now and get back to all the stuff I've been ignoring, so I'll see ya all later ^_^
-Quote of the Day-
"'I mean, can you believe there's a whole organization of people who've just been waiting around for King Arthur to rise again?'
'No,' I said, 'Although there are worse things than being worshipped as a demigod by a bunch of people who are apparently perfectly willing to pay your college tuition.'"
-Avalon High by Meg Cabot- (Meg Cabot is a witty and humorous writer, dammit! I want to #$%$#@ing decapitate various Disney employee's for what they did to The Princess Diaries! They turned it into a makeover movie! And there is no way in HELL that Julie Andrews should have played Grandmere. I'm sorry, but psycho, chain-smoking, French-speaking, dowager princess does NOT equal freakin Mary Poppins! Of course, none of this even comes close to the travesty that is Miramax's hack-job of Ella Enchanted *hits head against wall* Since when does linguist = cheesy martial arts master! Argggg! Why can't these people just leave the books alone! People love them for a REASON! *does calming breathing exercises* Ok, rant over. Bad and/or extremely inacurate movie translations of books are one of my serious pet-peeves ^_^)
   Voila! Sort of...
As you might have noticed, I've decided to redo my site and actually give it a theme for once. So my theme is Train from Black Cat. Why? Because he likes milk, and milk makes strong bones O.o Just kidding. It's because he kicks booty (and also because I sometimes wonder if he isn't a little insane ^_^). But yeah, I'm still fine-tuning some things here and there. I still need to get a good backround song and perhaps throw in a video or something. Plus, I'm investigating a better text color. So it's my work in progress.
In other news, I think I've run into more anime fans in the last few weeks than I have in my entire life O.o Ah, the joys of the new school year. One of them is a chick from my ceramics class who is unfortunately stuck on dial-up, so I made her a little present that included (1) the first 4 episodes of Bleach, (2) 107 chapter scanlations of Fruits Basket, (3) copies of the 5 Escaflowne soundtracks (4 TV and 1 movie), and (4) the first 5 episodes of Black Cat, since I was already burning them to CD. I'm a good new friend to have ^_^ Plus, I don't have many friends who are into anime, so any new ones are always greatly celebrated *Muwahahaha!*
Also, I have a very vauge question for those of you Fruits Basket fans who have read up to chapter 97. How many of you think that the little revelation therein was an afterthought on Natsuki Takaya's part? Because I've heard some complainers mention it as such. I personally don't think so. That possiblity had crossed my mind way back when, but I dismissed it originally for the same reasons that most other people would have. I think that that was in the writer's mind from the beginning. Everything else in the manga just seems too well planned out in my view. I don't think that Takaya-sensei just woke-up one day and went, "Hmmm, why don't I just @#%$ with the entire Fruits Basket universe today." So give me your views, if you have them. And if you have no clue what I'm talking about, then either you need to keep reading, or I was a bit too good at being vauge ^_^ Or you just don't read FB, so you can just ignore this part if you want ^_^ Well, I'm off people. Need sleep so I can work and whatnot, so I'll see ya later.
   Tada!
Ok, it's Black Cat summary time. Now that I've watched the first 13 episodes, I think I have somewhat of a handle on what's going on. That show changes tone all over the place. But I like it. Random humor and whatnot. But anyway, basically, the show is about an assassin named Train Hartnet who works for an organization called Chronos whose sole purpose seems to be to efficiently take out anyone it deems to be a threat to the peace, justice, blah de blah, the usual self-righteous speal (*cough* government tools *cough*). The assassins are called Chronos Numbers and all have a tattoo of a roman numeral. Train is number 13, also called Black Cat, due to his cat-like behaviors/traits, and probably also because it'd be pretty damn unlucky to cross paths with him ^_^ He's never failed to take out his target and is known as a ruthless, cold-hearted, killer (which makes it all the funnier many an episode later when he randomly starts singing a song about milk O.o He sure does like his milk) Anywho, it turns out, that Train really does seem to have a problem with the killing (you know, deep down, past the tramatic childhood and whatnot). Then one day, he meets this random girl who's singing on the rooftop, and over time, she slowly starts to bring Train's doubts to the surface. This starts a chain reaction that leads to hesitation, soul searching, run-in's with Train's psycho partner (co-worker, associate, fellow Chronos lackey... it's never really clarified) named Creed, and generally becoming entangled with the affairs of a semi-clairvoyant Sweeper (think "bounty hunter") named Sven. But that's really all I can say, since the show takes a real drastic shift between the 6th and 7th episodes. But yeah, good show. And Creed's second outfit later on just screams cool, even though he's an evil bastard ^_^ So watch. I really can't explain any better. Here's a link to a bittorent site if anyone's interested. Oyasumi does a pretty nice job fan subbing it.
So yeah, I'm done pimping the show now ^_^ And it's off to bed for me, cause I'm sniffley and sneezy and I have to get up for work, so I'll see ya later!
P.S. Oh, I changed my avatar. Kitties! ^_^
   Dude... Disney's Trying To Revive The Musical!
Wow, I think I might have bad taste. I saw the new Disney Channel original movie "High School Musical" and... I liked it. I thought it was cute. But now I have pop-influenced songs stuck in my head *ahhhhh!* Damn Disney Channel! Playing to my love of musicals! I mean, it's no Fame or Les Miserables, but there's singing and dancing. *cries* I love singing and dancing (when it's not me doing either ^_^) I saw every one of my high school's spring musicals (with the exception of Jesus Christ Superstar for some reason I don't remember) I kept going over in my head how the movie would have looked as a real musical on stage. I think it would translate pretty well. Although, that's kind of the point. God, I'm such a geek ^_^ Oh, and a word to Disney: twin siblings playing the lead roles in a play together = incestuous, to some people. I found it intruiging that they went that way. Disney's getting a little bold ^_^ Yeah, well that's really all I have to say so later everyone.
Troy: "What's up?"
Chad: "What's up? Oh, let's see, um, you missed free-period work-out yesterday to audition for some heinous musical, and now suddenly people are... confessing! Yeah, and Zeke... *grabs Zeke walking by* Zeke is baking! Creme brulee!"
Troy: "Oh, what's that?"
Zeke: "Oh, it's a creamy custard-like filling with a caramelized surface. It's really satisfying."
Chad: "Shut up, Zeke!"
   @#&*%$#!!!
Well, I was GOING to go around and check sites, but apparently my computer has decided that it doesn't feel like cooperating with myotaku today. Oh well. But I promise to go around once my computer stops being weird.
In other news, I am now on Facebook. Keebs talked me into joining, so there it is. Go on and have a look. I'm Andrea Goodyear.
Well, so off I go, into the night, swearing and yelling at my computer, as usual ^_^
*Edit* You know, I'll just put this little link thing here to take you straight to my facebook profile ^_^ Facebook me!
   *Mummble Grummble Rummble...*
Hey everyone ^_^ Sorry I haven’t been around as much. A lot of stuff happened all at once this week. First week of classes is always really busy at the bookstore, plus I had my own classes to go to. Also, my great-grandfather passed away Tuesday night. So my Mom is getting ready last minute to leave for California with my grandmother. They’re going on Thursday morning, and they won’t be back until Sunday. Then my step-dad is leaving for Canada on the following Tuesday, so that’s all added into the mix too. Basically, everything is all crazy ^_^ So yeah, I don’t have time to say much more now, and I won’t be able to visit sites, because I have to go read all that stuff for class Thursday that I couldn’t read due to work Wednesday. And then get up at 6am to get ready for school. Class is definitely back in session.
P.S. What I’ve managed to see of Black Cat so far has certainly been very good. I’ll leave a more detailed plot outline when I have more time and have seen more episodes…
   *Meow*
I just saw the first episode of Black Cat *squeal* Funny, pretty, action-y (although that's not a word), and intriguing. All things a first episode needs. Plus there are kitties! Yay! I love cats (and cat-like characters, such as Ed from Bebop, Yoruichi from Bleach and Kyo from Fruits Basket). So yeah, I am definately going to be watching as much of that show as I can. Muwahahaha!
In other news, I have to start classes again tomorrow *cries* Oh well, at least they're all easy and/or fun ones. But I'll still have to get up in the morning, which sucks ^_^ Eh, life goes on. Well, have a good day people, and if you get Monday off, then have a nice break.
   *Yawn*
Sorry for the late post. I just got back from going out with some friends from work. We saw Casanova. It was funny. Rather absurd in some parts, as well as being a typical romance movie, but still good.
Well, I finished the rearranging of my room. All is now good and my room looks bigger ^_^ Plus, I managed to fit in a small shelf thingy that now holds all my anime, school books, and books on Japanese. So much more organized *squeals*
Anyway, it's off to bed for me. Later! ^_^
