You know, I am so scatter-brained sometimes, it's not even funny. I haven't even mentioned my recent semi-crisis yet. What happened was this: Over the weekend, I received a letter from NIU (the college I'm transfering to) informing me that the major I have chosen, Art Education, is impossible to complete in two years coming from a community college. In other words, it will take me at least 3-4 years to get a Bachelors Degree. When I told my mom, she basically said, "Fuck it. Find a new major." So now, with my orientation set up for the 19th, I have 18 days to pick a new course of study. My brain hurts. Thankfully, I'm not at a total loss. What with my never ending quest for knowledge that I have no desire to do anything with, I'm looking at eventually getting a Masters in Library Science. However, there's no particular Bachelors degree that I'd need to get in order to go into Library Science. So I was thinking about getting a degree in International Politics, with a focus on East Asia. Then I'd get some kind of government job in a library somewhere. Which doesn't sound all that bad to me. You know what they say, when one door closes, you have to find a crowbar and sneak in through a window (or something like that ^_^)

In other news, after hearing from ElvesAteMyRamen that Moon Child was a good movie, I decided to test my robotic tear ducts and see what it was all about. So I hopped on down to Blockbuster and rented it. And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Apparently, in Japan, popular singers can actually act. Mind boggling. Also, it was a really good movie. I spent the rest of the day after I watched it on Wednesday cycling between breaking out in giggles and falling into depression. However, I did not cry, which is something I am perversely proud of.

Anyway, here's a Black Cat video I found on AMV.org. This should lighten up the over-all mood of my post for today ^_^ It's a tribute to Kyoko's fan-girl obsession with Train (as well as some random moment when Train apparently ate something hot O_o), to the song "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boy. I find it hilarious. Enjoy.

   So Hot Out!

People, it is hot! And humid. So, what's a good activity for such days as these? Why, an 11 mile bicycle ride of course. Yes, my friends, I am crazy. My friend Keebs and I decided to hang out on Sunday, and she suggested a bike ride. Now, for some insane reason, I agreed. Of course, I didn't know that the bike trail was about 3 miles away *cries* Then we rode for 2.6 miles on the trail itself. After that, we turned around and went all the way back. I now hate hills. They should all be bulldozed and made flat. Anyway, so she wants to do this every Sunday now. I think I may have to "accidentally" push her bike off of a cliff. But, that may have the adverse effect of ruining our friendship. Hmmm... hills, or the only friend who watches anime with me... Damn. Looks like I'm gonna be really fit by the end of summer.

On Monday, I just relaxed and tried to move my legs as little as possible. The things I do for anime *shakes head*

   So Tired!

Ok, apparently walking two miles one night, then swimming for half an hour the next morning, follwed by going straight to work is a really bad combo. I was so tired today. Must sleep. Plus it's so humid. Gah! I don't care about heat, but humidity can kill, I swear.

I've discovered something recently. I really hate shopping with skinny people. Well, let me rephrase that. I hate shopping with skinny people who don't realise that all the places they shop at are made specifically to cater to the little people. You know, those places where what should be a woman's medium is labeled as a 2XL O_o See, I went shopping with one of my friends, and it went something like this. I saw a shirt that said "Rock and Roll Saved My Soul" and went, "Oh, that's neat." My friend went "Well, why don't you try one on." Folowed by me going, "Dude, everything in this store is made to fit tiny people." She looked around and went, "No, I see all kinds of regular sizes. Oh, I forgot, you have big boobs." I then proceeded to mentally smack my forehead, because, of course, the fact that I also have about a 9 digit higher pant size has absolutely nothing to do with the matter. God, please save me from my size zero friends. Some more sarcasm would help.

But anyway, before I go collapse into my nice comfy bed, here's the second part of the first Jing OVA episode, in case anyone saw the first part and wants to watch more. This is where things start to get really trippy.

   Tra La La...

I completely forgot to mention anything about the latest chapter of the Naruto manga! It's getting really bad-ass! *hops up and down in excitement* Naruto's gonna fight Sasuke! Naruto's gonna fight Sauke! Please God, let Naruto fight Sasuke! It'll be just my luck if it doesn't happen, though. Some random jack-ass will try to get in the way, and then something else will happen, and then it will be like "Ooop, sorry, we all have to skedaddle for now, but we'll be back some day", and then I'll have to wait another 25 chapters (if I'm lucky) to even see the possibilty of this potentialy bad-ass fight. I shall cry. It will be sad. I feel like crying just thinking about it. Gah! Why was I cursed with this horrid affection for fight scenes! Why!!!!
Ok, drama over. Now, as I mentioned earlier, my attentions as of late have been focused on King of Bandits Jing. I just watched the Seventh Heaven OVA yesterday, and that has got to be the trippyest (is that even a word?) story line of them all. In fact, I'm going to post the first half of the first episode of the OVA for you all to see. Please watch, if you can. It's not very long, and I like it when people know what I'm talking about ^_^

   Alive!

No, I haven't died. Just been really sleepy these past couple of days. Damn illnesses! *shakes fist at colds everywhere* But anyway, I got to lay around and watch a new (well, new to me) anime in the meantime. What did I watch, you ask? Well, it was none other than King of Bandit Jing. And I must say, I liked it very much. I mean, how can you not like a story that is completely random and logic defying at times, with all the characters named after an alcoholic drink and all the towns/cities named after cocktails? That's right, you can't.
Anyway, for anyone who's never heard of/read the show/manga, it basically follows the adventures of Jing, a thief known as the Bandit King, and his leacherous bird (yes, I said bird) partner who go around stealing famous treasures, apparently just for kicks. And that's really all there is to say about it. The show follows a rather episodic format, with the exception of a few episodes. With all that said, I have to make a note that the last three episodes were my favorite. They were the only three-part group of episodes, so it had an actual plot ^_^ Of course, now I'm going to have to go and read all of the manga. I can feel my wallet staring to cry already. Anyway, on to the style of the show. It's kind of like Nightmare Before Chritmas meets Alice in Wonderland. I love it. Here are some examples...

Tripy, huh? And don't even get me started on the music. It's fabulous. And you know, when I saw the picture with Jing's mask (from the last three episodes, hehe) I was instantly reminded of Kingdom Hearts, even though I've never played the game. Weird.

   I Will Survive!

I'm sick T_T I got to go home early from work today. The assistant manager asked me if I wanted to leave since they probably weren't going to be that busy anyway, plus she didn't want to catch my cold ^_^

So, on to other stuff. I found the opening to xxxHOLiC on YouTube for you guys (mostly Myui since he already knows what it's about ^_^). Also, I really like the opening song ("19sai" by Suga Shikao). I went and got the full version after I heard it, and I'm keeping my eyes open for the xxxHOLiC movie soundtrack since that opening song was done by the same artist. Anyway, so here's the opening (you get to see Doumeki with his bow. Go archers!). I posted the one without subs because the picture quality was better. If you really want to know what he's saying, YouTube has a sub version. Enjoy!

And also, I realized something else today. Almost any anime/manga I watch/read has some element that reminds me of Fruits Basket. It's so weird. It came to me when I thought that if, in some bizarro alternate dimension, Yuki and Kyo were ever to be friends, they would have a friendship a lot like the one Watanuki and Doumeki have. I mean, seriously, Watanuki is loud, extremely expressive, always annoyed with either Yuuko or Doumeki (sometime both at the same time), and he can cook. Doumeki is calm, popular with the girls at his school (and rather oblivious to the fact), somewhat of a smart-ass, and he's constantly calling Watanuki an idiot. When I broke down the characters this way, it became a lot more obvious. Then, after that, I also realized that this pattern could be extended to Naruto and Sasuke (although I have no idea whether Naruto can cook... probably not... he does eat a lot of ramen...). So yeah. Wow. You could knock me over with a spoon (please don't) because I just realized the existance of an archetype that I really should have noticed before. I'm so slow sometimes ^_^

-Quote of the Day-
Mom: "I though you had to work until 7 today?"
Me: "I did, but they sent me home sick."
Mom: "Why?"
Me: "Because I'm sick."

Otherwise, you pop some asprin and get over it. That's parental love for ya. Now I'm one tough, disease distaining cookie. A sane person would have called in sick in the first place ^_^)

   Wooh For Cool Stuffs!

So, how many of you guys have been able to watch the xxxHOLiC (pronounced "holic") anime? I have! And while I must say that CLAMP's unique elongated character designs look fabulous on paper, I really think that the animators shouldn't have stressed it so much. I think the characters are actually more stretched in the anime. Tsk tsk. They should have followed along the Tsubasa style. Somehow, Kurogane, Fai and Shaoran can kick ass in a fluid manner, but all Watanuki has to do is walk and he looks like a rejected prototype of Jack from "The Nightmare Before Christmas". It's just not fair. I love the xxxHolic story (just what is going on with Himawari! I KNOW something is up! Tell me! Damn you CLAMP!) and Doumeki is becoming one of my favorite anime/manga characters. He's like a male version of Hana from Fruits Basket (in the quiet, food obsessed, appearing out of nowhere, random personality way). Plus there's the archery. I alway like characters who can shoot a bow. Doumeki will probably be my next theme when I feel like changing it. But, since it's summer now, I can spend more time to learn how to make my wallpaper and stuff super, uber fabulous. I will not fail!

Anywho, now that my drawing class is finally over, my brain can go back to thinking about drawing stuff that I want to draw. I was thinking about doing a portrait of one of my sisters. Hmmm... Oh, and now that I have all my drawings back, I can post pictures of my least shameful ones for you guys to see ^_^ Wow, I've got so much to work on. Must go to sleep now so that I'm not a total zombie for work tomorrow. Later all!

-Quote of the Day-

Watanuki: "It doesn't matter what I make for lunch... but why do I always have to make lunch for you?!!"
Doumeki: "I have to stay here for practice. Because I got injured, I can't practice. By the way! Did you put beans and sushi in there?"
Watanuki: "I did! It's triangular! Your requests are really getting out of hand!"
Doumeki: "Beans and sushi plus it's triangular, makes it very good. Because fox ears are triangular."
Watanuki: "Why do you always think about such weird stories that are not related to you!"

   Woooh!

Well, how's everyone doing? I'm finally starting to adjust to my summer freedom (my finals were on Tuesday so I'm all done ^_^) Now I've just got to wait for all my friends to flock home for the summer like an evil, slightly fatter, summer job seeking swarm of killer bees. Ah, I can hear them now, dutifuly studying, biding their time. I'm on to you people! Fear by vigilance! ...I really have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm just riding the happy vibes from my new-found freedom. And the prospective return of a social life. Of course, once summer ends, all of them will scatter to the winds like the falling leaves and leave me in a deep hole of depression at the prospect of yet another 9 months of isolation and school work. Yes, summer has recharged my craziness batteries. Hail.

   Con Craziness!

Well people, I had lots of fun at ACen. I really didn't want to leave. The group vibe is just so hard to describe. It was so... comfortable. I mean, a whole freakin huge hotel and convention center filled to the brim with cosplayers and anime geeks running around. Now, I have to say that I'm one of those rather jumpy and crowd-shy people when it comes to being in a place I don't know, but I had no problem leaving my group and wandering around by myself. I went off to go sit in on the Megotokyo panel. I swear, I now have a new respect for people who allow themselves to be placed up in front of a large crowd of fans and then let those fans ask them questions. I felt like smacking my forehead every ten minutes. Plus I ended up sitting in front of a loud woman with an uber-obnoxious laugh. I was grating my teeth quite a bit, too ^_^
But yeah, altogether my day consisted off... waiting around for the convetion room to open, then spending about five hours wandering the dealer room (and about an hour of that was waiting in line with my friends so that they could get the autograph of the guy who did Axel's voice in Kingdom Hearts 2 and Reno's voice in the english dub of Advent Children). After that I went to the Megatokyo panel, then I met up again with my friends and we just sort of hung out with some other people that my friend Jen knows (and three of them were dressed up as Reno, Rude, And Rufus *hahaha* They even had a wheelchair, although I think that might have officially been Brad's, because he's still injured from that car accident *hmmm*) Oh, and speaking of that, it is very much a small world. Apparently Jen's friend Brad is one of the guys that I work with O_O Freaky. It was so funny to just walk over and be like, "Holy shit!" in my head.
Some of you may have noticed that I did not once mention eating. That is because I didn't. My friends ate while I went to the panel because I wasn't hungry. My grandpa's genes must have surfaced in me because from about the time just before the con openned until we were driving home that night, the only things I had were some Pocky sticks and two drinks of water. That's about 13 hours without food. Go freakish, elvin-type digestive system! Wooh!
Anyway, I have a few pictures from the con, but they're still on my camera, so I'll have to post them once I email them to myself. Mostly it's just a couple shots of the huge crowds, but I did get a picture of someone dressed up as 8-bit Link from Zelda, and there was also someone dressed up as a tetris block ^_^ Gotta love the classics.
So, to sum things up, lots of fun, stupid fans, elvin digestion and hilarious surprises. I am definately staying all weekend next year.

Yuki: "But you look insanely happy."

   *Snore*

Sorry for not going to visit everyone's sites. I'm actually going to crash as soon as I post this. I'm freakin tired from a long day of work, babysitting, and talking to my friend. Plus, i have to get up early tomorrow to go to ACen (Anime Central) with some friends. Wooh for conventions! I'll give a nice post about it when I get back, and I'll visit sites, I promise. So, till then, see ya later *stumbles and falls flat asleep*
