Resolutions Completed
Well, mostly. I'm sure I'll throw a few more into the mix. I have 20 resolutions so far.

Something I've always wanted to do: Sublet my apartment for a month and live in another city. I have a short list of interesting cities but Vancouver might be at the top, for a variety of reasons (SomeGuy is also based there so I'll know at least one person, and Gail/John as well as another friend are in Washington, which isn't that far).

Some of my resolutions are way out there, but will be fun to see what happens next year. Look forward to 2008--

Email Notifications?
What are your thoughts on email notification, for example getting an email from theOtaku when someone comments on your work/blog/etc. or sends you a PM?

YouTube sends me lots of emails by default when I get new comments on the VV video and I find them useful.

We'd of course have an option to disable

What do you think?

Books of 2007
I keep a running list of all the books I read, just to keep track.

For 2007 I'm excited to see I went through 35 books. Not bad at all! That's a book every 1.5 weeks. I mainly read what I find interesting.

So what do I find interesting...?

Here's the breakdown, by category:

Books By Category:
Business -- 10
Psychology -- 10
Fiction -- 10
Graphic Novels -- 4
Technical -- 1
Self Improvement -- 5

Brazilian Otaku
I joked to Gail and John at AX 2007 that someone should spend a month or so just visiting anime conventions around the world and then write a book about it (or film a documentary).

East Coast cons are different than West Coast cons. Just imagine what cons are like in Brazil and Moscow.

Cool Quote
"Anyone can start something, but it takes a genius to finish"

I'm starting to get burned out, I need a vacation soon, probably before launch because after it I know I'll be swamped again

Speaking Of...
One of my highest priorities in the coming day is to create a list of specific things I want to accomplish in 2008. Some items on the list will be a bit outlandish and some will be more easily accomplished. It's good to mix it up.

Speaking of goals/priorities, I'm very happy with 2007--an exciting year is much more interesting to me than a slow and steady and boring year--and I think SomeGuy did a great job of summarizing the network's year. I hope that 2008 is just as exciting for us, it'll be hard to beat 2007 :-)

Speaking of end of year, since the year is almost over I have to start thinking of what I want to buy for this network ASAP so I can deduct it this April vs. having to wait until the following April.

Speaking of buying things, they're selling WiFi picture frames these days that can stream images from an RSS feed. Imagine when they become dirt cheap and higher quality. You can put constantly updating theOtaku wallpapers/fan art on your wall/desk/etc.

Speaking of theOtaku wallpapers, since my parents' internet connection isn't great, it's taking forever to process them.

Manic/power-hungry me has been replaced by ultra-cute/chibi/fragile me:

Cute :-)

I'm not religious but I do celebrate Christmas. Hope you enjoy yours.

James has the cutest Siberian Husky.

My dog, also a Husky, died almost exactly a year ago (time flies)

I'm home for the holidays. I'm also processing wallpapers now (only 80,000...)

I've been following Katana's 12 days of myOtaku fan manga and am happy to see I've made a cameo on the second page...

Behold: Calm, rational, hard-working, and humble me (I'm tempted to make this my new icon):

Also, I couldn't resist: Evil Eye Baby:

Jitters
Version Vibrant is winding to a close. I'd say it's 90% done

I'm firing our existing host to try another company. This was a hard decision because we've been with them for so many years and performance has been good of late, but I honestly cannot forgive the Otakulypse. We lost 10% of our hard-earned audience because of that mess and, even if it never happens again, it was just too traumatic to overlook.

I'm going to try to put together a video demo a bit closer to launch walking you through Version Vibrant. I want everyone to know what it is before it launches, so that when it does launch, you're ready to go (it'll also let me get the inevitable death threats out of the way)

I don't think most people can understand the amount of pressure on me. Imagine if you spent 6 months working on a work of fan art with like 10 other people helping you out and with a lot of experimental ideas and a small fortune invested, with tons of hype and people paying attention, then you finally put it online.
