Spyware/Malware Pop Up Ad
I'm FURIOUS about this rogue spyware/malware pop up ad that's been plaguing theOtaku of late.

We have a HARD policy against allowing pop ups of any kind, LET ALONE pop ups for malicious ads.

It kills our reputation among everyone--members, industry folks, partners, and advertisers--for nothing. We make no money from these ads, they're done by bottom-feeding companies that usually hide code in ads for unrelated topics.

I put a freeze on all advertising delivered to us by one of our ad partners. I'm hoping that puts a stop to the rogue ad, but I'm not sure since these things are incredibly hard to nail down

If you EVER get a pop up from theOtaku please tell me immediately. If you can also send me the source code of the page you see the pop up on AND take a screen shot, it would help too.

Whew.

Anyway, the Groundhog's Day post on theO was amazing.

Avatar Sizing
We have two options with avatars:
(1) We can leave them as-be but they'll look kind of ugly in Version Vibrant's comment box layout

(2) We can start from scratch and enforce a 100 x 100 or so pixel max size. This will make the comment box layout look 20 times nicer.

SomeGuy made an important, mysterious phone call recently. He hasn't made mention of what it was about, so I'd like to invite you all to speculate via fan fiction.

My theory is that it involves a girl, the Canadian Mounted Royal Police, the mafia, and Hayao Miyazaki.

Valentine's Day or Groundhog's Day?
Which do you prefer, Valentine's Day or Groundhog's Day?

When I'm single on VDay I'm not thrilled at seeing couples everywhere. When I'm in a relationship I'm not thrilled at the romantic expectations (and also feel guilty being a couple outside). Then again, Valentine's Day is usually one of our best days of the entire year for traffic (because of all the eCards floating around).

HOWEVER, Groundhog's Day doesn't discriminate, has no expectations, and there's an AMAZING movie based on it. The downside is that it's a pointless holiday and the groundhog is only right 39% of the time (worse odds than flipping a coin)

Weekly Town Hall Meetings
Gail, SomeGuy, myself, and the podcasters had a fun web-meeting with audio and chat. Wouldn't it be cool to have a live, weekly theOtaku town-hall meeting. One person from the team can be there and members can ask questions/bring up ideas they have/vent their frustrations/give compliments/etc.

Only the person from our team would have voice talking/moderation privileges to keep things from getting out of control.

What do you think??
