Sorry for the disappearing act. I have good excuses though.^^ The main one being the stressing over the breast cancer contest drawing. Things kept popping up that deprived me of working on the drawing. I still got it done though so, if you could just click the thumbnail below and comment and vote on it, I’d be very pleased:

Oh yeah, and today is my birthday so it would make my b-day that much more special if people did go comment and vote on it.^_^
Oh yeah, and I mention it on the drawing but that was my first time ever drawing characters from a birds eye view…let alone TEN characters and it was really really really tough so please be nice if a couple characters may not be 100% perspectively perfect.

To start, saw the Eragon movie…BOO! It stunk, don’t bother seeing it. Only 2 things really kept my attention: 1)The nice CG work on the dragon, 2)Eragon was hot. But they didn’t follow the book well at all, the sets were really cheesy, the fight scenes weren’t climatic, and there was virtually no character development. I saw it with my pals and 2 of us had read the book and 2 had not and we were all sorely disappointed.

The biggest thing that happened…and what ultimately took away from the majority of my drawing time, was that my very best friend from childhood came up for a surprise visit! I was so happy to see her! She and I were 2 peas in a pod and we were neighbors and classmates so we were always together but then graduation happened and she went off to college in Florida and I went to upstate New York so we just drifted apart….one of the sad truths of life but she came up to visit her family and spent 2 days with me and it was dandy. She hasn’t changed, I haven’t really changed so it was like old times again. I was sad to see her go though.

Anywho, I must be off for I have my birthday party to prepare for!

For those who asked, with the snippet of my drawing for the contest in the last post, that took me about 45 minutes to complete from the actual start sketch to the shading. So yeah, not too long. I actually have all 10 of the black and white characters done and now I just have to draw them again at a different angle and in color. I’m not worried though because my schedule next week works out just perfect that I have enough days off to finish it before the 20th.^_^

I’m updating in the morning which is a rarity. I was trying to stay up to update till midnight but I was so flippin’ tired and I had to get up early this morning for work so…yeah, got my beauty sleep in instead. I’m seeing Eragon tonight though!!! AHHHHH!!! I’m so excited. I’m not one that tends to heavily compare books to the movies because I know, realistically, they can’t fit everything in from the books into the flicks so I just enjoy it for what it is. I can’t wait! Especially since I’m meeting up with my best pals, Tyler, Phil, and Gavin so it’ll be dandy.^_^

And speaking of best pals, I had sent my soul mate, Angel(Suyari a Christmas present and it was this awesome Kenshin bag that as soon as I saw it, I bought it because I knew it was something she’d like. She called me yesterday, telling me she got the present and that she couldn’t believe it, but she had seen this same bag awhile ago and was going to get it for me but couldn’t find it anywhere and every place was sold out of them and she had been looking online and everything trying to get one for me! I couldn’t believe it because of all the anime things we could have gotten one another, we were both eye-balling the EXACT same thing to get each other. It’s kinda eerie really. I can’t wait to see what the present is she sent to me though.^^

AH! The Eragon movie comes out this Friday!! *hops around like a 6 year old on coffee* I have been dying for this movie to come out since I saw a subway poster for it over a year ago when living in NYC. The books are amazing so this movie better be amazing too or else…*shakes fist* I’m dragging my friends to the theaters whether they like it or not! Well, I know they’ll like it since they like fantasy genre as well…and I told them it has a hot elf chick in it so yeah, they’re willing to come.^_~

I’m still working on the breast cancer awareness drawing. I probably wont have it done till right before the due date next week.XD Many asked for a preview…which made me feel special that people actually care to see my work^^…so here’s a snippet of my drawing:

I drew that one today at work and keep in mind that this is just ONE of the TEN characters I’m drawing. Plus, I’m drawing each character in black and white and then again in color but at a totally different angle. I wont say exactly what I’m doing because I don’t want people swiping my idea…not that you guys would do it but I’ve had people who don’t comment on my site, steal things off it. Like a ways back when I showed a work-in-progress drawing and someone stole it and posted it in their fan art gallery claiming they drew it. What a turd. Hence why everything has my name on it to prevent those little thieves from taking my work. Feh!

Glad you guys like the new theme! Aye, Black Cat is a very good anime/manga. I recommend it. The manga and anime are a little different…mostly in the order in which they do things. For instance, and this doesn’t spoil anything so don’t worry, the anime starts when the main character Train, is still working as an assassin and then he progresses to being a good guy, while the manga starts when he’s already a good guy and then shows flashbacks of his assassin days to show the reader what Train used to be and where his tattoo, gun, nickname and everything came from. Meh, I enjoy it regardless of the order.^^

I finished my Christmas shopping today. While I was out in the stores I went up to the salesclerks and just asked them real quick if they had any Nintendo Wii’s and they pretty much all laughed. I knew they wouldn’t have any but it doesn’t hurt to try. The Wii is the only thing I asked for for my Christmas/Birthday present but the stupid thing is impossible to find so I’ll have to wait till January or whenever the hay they actually have them in stock. Or…it would be even more grand to win the breast cancer awareness contest and get it then…but I never keep my hopes up for these types of things because I don’t like the feeling of extreme disappointment.
And speaking of the contest, I came home to start working on it and as I was swiveling my desk lamp for better lighting, the lamp broke! Argh! So, I had to hop in my car and go to the nearest art store and have them order me a new one. Bah, I still worked on the drawing but used a crummy bummy old lamp in the meantime.

Theme change! I’ll miss my Ouran High School Host Club theme but I had that one since about June so I thought a rotation was in order. So yeah, Black Cat is my new theme, an anime and manga I highly recommend reading and/or watching. The theme mostly focuses on Train Heartnet…he’s groovy.

I started the breast cancer awareness drawing. I started it at work too. Hee! In order to complete it on time, I’ll probably be working on this drawing at work and at home…well, while at work, when there is downtime…which is very veeeeeeery often. Plus, I found out I have Christmas Eve and Christmas day off! YAY! I’m shocked because I really thought I’d be working those days.
I talked to my friend, Phil last night over the phone. I had just given him an email saying that I needed to see him and my other pals because I haven’t been doing well emotionally lately and he instantly called me to talk and asked what was wrong. AW! What a dear, I feel so lucky having the friends I have because they are all so wonderful because they make me laugh but if I’m ever upset they’re there to listen. And who ever said all guys were jerks? Not me! My friends are living proof against that statement.

Quote of the Day comes from my boss while at work and he was quite in the sour mood:
Me: *A Christmas song starts playing on the radio* “Tom, I’ve noticed that every time you come into this room, a Christmas song starts up.”
Tom: “Well, it must be because I’m so f*cking jolly.”

Wow, I realized I have over 22,000 hits! Thanks guys!^_^

Have you fellow fan artist’s heard about the new anime breast awareness contest? Holy smokes are those prizes amazing!! The 1st and 2nd place winners get Playstation 3’s and the people who come in 3rd-8th get Nintendo Wiis!!! Yeah, I’m SO entering that contest. I already know what I want to do but am worried I wont have the time because my idea is pretty complex and it involves me drawing about 10 characters…twice! But I’m going to try my darndest to complete it before the 20th…which is the day before my birthday…how about that? Speaking of birthdays, how old do you people think I am?! I mean, seriously, some of you talk like I’m 40 or something! Sheesh, I’m only 23 give me a break! I guess I’m just so mature…pfft…HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, that cracked me up too.
Anywho, today I started my no-more-alcohol nights and rather then taking a shot or 2 of one of my fave drinks, I watched Mystery Science Theater 3000. So yes, I’m going to exclude the alcohol and get in some nightly laughs instead.

Thanks to those who looked at my mermaid drawing. To clarify, I did NOT finish that drawing in one day. It took me about 2 week to complete since, although I did it at work, I do actually…still have to work, lol! So, when a person needs money or I need to do something for the bank then I will drop the drawing and do what needs to be done and then pick the drawing back up again. Anyway, in case you missed it, here’s the link again:

I’ve been in really funky moods lately. I think it’s the season and the fact the days are shorter plus, I’ve been working so much flippin’ overtime that I have no life. I’ve been trying to keep in good spirits though since I don’t like falling in the downhill funks. I started drinking every night though. I’m trying to stop doing that before it becomes a habit since I don’t want to become one of those stereotypical artists who can’t make it in life so they drink themselves into a stupid slumber to take away from the reality that they aren’t going anywhere in life.
Oh, quick story: The other day while driving to work, some a-hole was tailgating me on the highway and one of my pet peeves are tailgaters and we happened to pass a cop…I saw the cop, the tailgater obviously did not…well, by the time he did see the cop, it was too late because the cop darted out and the jerk got pulled over. Heh…yes, I live for moments such as those.

Ahoy, Mate’s!
I finished another drawing that I did while at work. This one isn’t a chibi drawing and it’s pretty hard-core for something I do at work but…I just have lots of down time. Lol! This took me a couple weeks to do since I worked on it on and off so if you would take a look and comment, I’d be very appreciative:

I went Christmas shopping Monday morning since I had that day off. It was more crowded then I expected for a Monday morning but seeing as how it is rounding the holiday shopping time, it’s not that much of a shocker. Approximately $300 later I have most of my shopping done. I got my pals all really nice gifts that I think they’ll like and I’m sure I’ll enjoy whatever they get me since they know better then anyone what my tastes are.
I bought myself one thing which was a box set of Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. Some of you may remember how much I adore this show and had bought myself a set before but…so far there’s 10 sets and I have 2 so I’m slowly working on my collection.^_^ I was so excited to see Circuit City had this set because it has one of my fave episodes in which the crew watch a movie called, The Incredibly Strange Creature That Stop Living and Become Mixed-Up Zombies. Yes…that is the title of the movie…how much did that director smoke to think that was a good title for a movie?

Stick a fork in me, for I am done with my tutorials for the Art of Otaku!! YAY! Ah, I can relax a little bit now. I did end up doing a male and female profile tutorial with the extra days given to us so that was good because I wanted to do one but didn’t have the time before Adam pushed the due date back.

To celebrate my completion of the tutorials I rented a few movies so that was dandy. One of them was Clerks II and it was really funny. The part were they were fighting over which was better, Lord of the Rings or Star Wars was great. I never really liked Star Wars but am obviously a big LOTR fanatic but when the Star Wars guy was poking fun of how gay Frodo and Sam were, I just laughed because…I have to admit…they did sorta act it…not that there’s anything wrong with that!! But it’s true. And is it just me, for those who have seen Jay and Silent Bob…isn’t Jay kinda hot? Lol! He reminds me of a drugged out Legolas, with that long blonde hair…HA! And Silent Bob could be Gimli…oh man, a drawing is brewing in my head over this realization…
I’m going to call all my guyfriends because I’ve been hiding in my tutorial world for awhile and wish to hang out with them. I miss my boys!XD

Quote of the Day comes from Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey:
“Whenever someone asks me to define love, I usually think for a minute, then I spin around and pin the guy’s arm behind his back. NOW who’s asking the questions?!”

Thanks to everyone who commented and voted on my latest drawing.^_^ I had sent out the coloring tutorial that follows that drawing to Adam the other night and he loved it so that made me happy.^^ Anywho, if you haven’t seen it, I would be ever-so pleased if you would and you can just click the thumby to take you to the full-sizer:

I finished the hand and figure tutorials today and originally, these tutorials were due by today but Adam extended the due date to Sunday so I may do a profile tutorial as well. We’ll see how motivated I’m feeling.XP
I was watching Whose Line is it Anyways and I came to the conclusion that if I’m ever rich and famous, these guys are going to be invited to all my birthday parties.
I watched some more of the anime, His and Her Circumstance and I still love it. The way they do this anime is so…shall I say, artistic? The way they draw characters and show shots of certain things really helps express moods. I think they went a little overboard in trying to be artsy fartsy though when the 2 main lovers have sex for the first time. I mean, I wasn’t expecting them to show it or anything but during the time when I’m assuming they were in “action” they had a shot of a hat blowing in the wind and then we see the girl when she was a child and then we see the boy when he was a child catching the hat and then smiling at each other. Eh…it was just a little weird to me.

Quote of the Day comes from a conversation I had at work:
Me: “Hey do any of you guys know if we get our birthdays off?”
*All 3 start laughing*
Tonya: “Ha! We don’t even get Christmas off.”
Jyl: “Yeah, if we don’t get Jesus’ birthday off, what makes you think you’ll get your birthday off?”
Me: “Pfft, you’re right. What was I thinking?”
