need a usb keyboard...
This post is coming from a meticulous use of a SixAxis controller. Methinks I'll not do this too often...

I had ribs for dinner; our waitress got our last slice of cake 'cause she was awesome.

That is all. I must play game now. So yeah, birthday was good.

   I know Kung-Fu . . . . .
I also know how to post podcasts now.

Booyah.

Anyways, so far it looks like I'll be going with avatar #6 as voted by 5.25 votes. Second is #5 with 3.25 votes. #8 has 2.25 votes, #4 has 1.25 votes, #2 has 1 vote and #3 has 0.25 votes.

If anyone still wants to throw in which avatar they think I should use from the selection here, tell me quick, we've only a day or so left before the great shift!

Ramping up for Anime Evolution . . .
A whole slew, possibly about two dozen of us, are cosplaying as Shinsengumi. One of us has a homemade Saizo plushie (Peacemaker Kurogane).

I have modified an R/C car that is now capable of ferrying said-plushie around on an epic scale . . .

Here, have the test run with Kon as the pilot:

This is a link to a picture of the completed Mecha-Saizo chassis.

We're excited.

. . . and tell me which avatar you like in the post prior to this one if you haven't already . . .

. . . . . and yes, Siu Jie, I'll try not to let ya down.

   Iiiii hung out with Aleeeeexaaaaa!!!
I posted a new poll on the front page. I gotta get back into the rhythm of those things . . .

In other news, I hung out with Alexa last night for a bit.

She was passing through Vancouver. I met her at the airport once she got off her delayed(!!!) flight.

Apparently she's a horrible flyer, no good on airplanes. It'd be funny if it wasn't so tragic. I gave her her "Memoirs of a Geisha" back along with a manga as interest. Then we just chatted for about half an hour before she had to go catch her next flight.

Half an hour's drive out and $5.50 in parking just to chill with someone for half an hour. Funny, huh?

Yeah, but I'd do it. 'Cause I'm me.

So now I'm up to 5 myOer meetings this summer. So far so good . . .

   Looking to the future . . .
I'm still unemployed, still haven't really started looking for a new job yet . . . and yet I see many things coming up in the next little while all over the place. August is gonna be a busy month . . .

Gia Manry from animeOnline is starting up news work at theO. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of cool stuff comes from that.

Further, for whatever reason I decided to volunteer for more work as a News Team member so I'll have to step it up. Should be fun.

There's some other site related stuff that's supposed to be happening soon. We'll see what happens. I hear some should actually be pretty cool for us. We'll see, we'll see . . .

Then some other thing happens in early August . . . I'll hafta change my avi because of that . . .

Then mid-August there's Anime Evolution. I'm very excited about that, gotta get some pictures taken with other theO people who shall be there. I doubt we'll really be able to call it a theO meet-up per se, being that there doesn't seem to be NEARLY as many otakuite-types around my neck of the woods. I need to search 'em out, maybe . . .

End of the month, I'm gonna drive to Alberta with the brother (maybe brothers) and visit family. Grandma always bugs me to come visit, I guess it's about time we did something about it.

Along with that, I'm now watching Claymore and Lucky Star. Oh, and The Kill Point on Spike which isn't even really that good but I can't stop watching. Damn . . . busy-ness (as opposed to business, which you would probably pronunce differently). I guess that's all for now.

   Time of Post: 6:30am PDT
Y'know what's awesome when your brother goes to Vancouver Island to camp for a couple days?

When he doesn't remember to shut off his alarm clock before leaving town and it's Saturday the next day.

Ass.

Things I learned about myself while overseas:
To summarize my seven weeks of travelling:

  • I'm extremely capable of doing the "protective SG" thing in person.
  • I could barely drink 2 liters of beer.
  • I fucking hate Travelocity.
  • I don't get homesick if I have good company. And internet.
  • I'm a hopeless romantic, through and through.
  • I love baguettes.
  • I'll eat pretty much anything and say it's "okay" even if it sucks.
  • I've taken good Chinese and Japanese food for granted.
  • I hate drawing images I have in my mind, and I have tons of them.
  • I'm willing to leave a LOT of things to chance.
  • People are amused when I pick up bits of their native languages.
  • I'm missing out in life for not getting more massages in my youth . . .
  • People are quick to trust me . . . go fig' . . . . .
  • I enjoy long-distance peek-a-boo with babies while in transit.
  • I truly am a frighteningly optimistic guy ('cause no one else wants to be).
  • I adapt to foreign keyboards quickly. Even AZERTY ones.
  • Europe loves Canadians.
  • I love being Canadian.

Two days of coming home . . .
Here's where one wonderful night ends and a whole headache more or less begins. But first:

  • Re: Sunset: Take a gander, cutie.
  • Re: When I woke up: 'bout 1:30 the next afternoon. What can I say, reading that damn thing takes a lot outta ya. At least it's done now, and I can get on with my life now.
  • Re: Chatting with Vicky: Yes, I did. She can vouch.

So now's the part where I come home for two days. I already mentioned a lot of this around when it happened, but I think it'll be fun to show the shorthand note version of the incident . . .

Ponta Delgada -> Lisbon -> Paris Toronto (June 27):

  • Fuck you, fucking Travelocity!!! Fucked me over . . . $thousands . . .
  • Cat's stressing out, their mom's having a shit day . . . bad, bad, bad day . . .
  • I got to be the cool, collected head . . . that was neat . . .
  • Hope Josh gets my message & can help . . . . .
  • Fucking loss of money . . . sheesh . . . . .
  • CUSTOMS WORKSHEET!

    • Tour: Shirt (25), gloves (70), books (30), teddy bear (10) [135]
    • France: trinkets (45), hat (20), books (30), candy (10) [105]
    • Holland: scarves (30), glass (5) . . .
    • Sweden: glass (5) -------------------- [40]
    • Açores: cow/lion (15), glass (5), watch (20), stone things (30), frog (10), wine (20) [100]

  • Newfoundland to Toronto is a huge stretch of land . . . . .
  • Crashed a birthday party!
  • Josh & his siblings still do sibling stuff . . . aww . . .
  • Titanic . . . "Oh, the ship already sank . . ."

Toronto -> (Edmonton) -> Vancouver (June 28):

  • Played Wii Sports instead of sleep all night . . . ah well . . .
  • Tim Horton's . . . mmm . . . . . I'm home . . . . .
  • Allegedly I was a welcome surprise. Good . . .
