   Work Drama
Bleh, so last night was the night of getting hit on by drunk guys at work. Ugh, and that would be the down side to working Friday night shifts at a sports bar and grill. It started off with my first table. (Though luckily he wasn't drunk and he was slightly cute.)

Anyway, it just got worse as the night progressed. There were several football games on, so everyone thought they would stand around watching the games right in front of my section, which was by the bar. I had to wade through a sea of drunk, slightly drunk and some just idiotic people every time I went to check my tables. And then, there was the toasted dad who kept trying to flirt with me in front of his family...and the weird Indian guys who said they could get me a job if I got fired from the restaurant. *Sigh* And then they didn't even tip well. Seriously, if you're going to flirt with a waitress, at least tip well afterwards...

Grr, by the end of the night I was ready to hit something if one more stupid, drunk guy called me sexy or cutie or hottie. (I ended up hitting Phil, one of the servers. But only because he overheard me say that and decided to act drunk and hit on me. Ah, that guy makes me laugh...) The funny thing is, I looked like crap last night. Oh the things alcohol will do to someone...

In other work related news...we had one person fake cutting their hand open in order to get out of work on Thursday night. Oh, and then someone accidently served an alcoholic frozen drink to a 16 year old, thinking it was a virgin last night. Oh dear, did that cause a commotion. Work never ceases to be lively...

I suppose that's all that is happening now. I've pretty much decided that if I'm going to finish Sciezka and Rock Lee before break ends I'm going to have to sew by hand. Stupid sewing machine... Bleh, since when did they start making machinary smarter than people...

P.S. Did I mention that Jonathan Rhys Meyers is hot? What is it about those Irish boys...Ok, and here I end my mindless hot boy ramble... :)

   The Video...
Yea, we had a little too much time on our hands today...

A Laser Tag Christmas

   Merry Christmas!
First of all, I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! It's cloudy and humid here in South Florida. Good thing we're not planning on going to the beach today!

My Christmas has been good so far. I got a lot of clothes from mom and gramma, which is good since all my clothes were getting too big. (Yay for jeans that fit!) And I got some Christmas/Birthday money that I think I'm going to use to finally get an iPod, so that's fun.

Though, my sister and I have probably had the most fun playing with my brother's Christmas presents. He got a laser tag set and we've been running around in the backyard playing with it. We're about to go out and make a little video which should be tons of ridiculous fun.

Tomorrow my sister and I are planning to head out to Captiva on my day off to take her senior pictures on the beach. Then I think we're going to stop by a game store so I can get her the second half of her Christmas gift, a strategy guide for Kingdom Hearts I. I got her Kingdom Hearts II for Christmas, but she's not allowed to play it until she beats Kingdom Hearts I and she's a little stuck at the moment.

Well, I suppose that's all from me. Meg is anxious to go make our video. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

   It's Almost Christmas!
Thanks everyone for your encouragement! I'm doing good. Work is going well. Tomorrow is my last shift for this week and then it's two glorious days off to spend with my family. Gramma and Papa are leaving on Tuesday, which is sad. But they're only a couple hours from me when I'm at school, so I can visit them whenever I want. :)

Good news is, I've made more than enough money for my Austin trip in February. Now the trick is to keep from spending it until then. I'm sure that's quite doable...maybe if I hide it in my closet and forget about it... Nah, it should be safe in savings.

My sister and I are planning to head to the beach sometime next week with a friend of mine. We need a girls' beach day, so fun times there. The three of us always have a blast when we're together. Hopefully, I haven't gained too much weight since this summer so the swim suit won't look too bad...

And finally, I'll leave you with a fun Emmaism moment from today. I work at a sports bar and grill, so naturally there are a ton of TVs up showing all sorts of football games. Well, since it's play offs and such they've taken to labeling signs under the TVs with who is playing what game. James, my manager, had me balancing precariously on a bar stool labeling the TVs. If only I had fallen off, that would have probably been less embarrassing than what happened.

I'm so embarrassed, especially since I'm a journalist and should be able to spell most words. Well, James told me to label a TV with Indianapolis @ Houston and for the life of me, I couldn't seem to spell Indianapolis right. After a few attempts, I had James spell it out for me, but he kept getting distracted mid-spelling and the three other managers were having too much fun teasing me about it while he was distracted. I think someone ended up yelling, "Thank goodness you're not a sports journalist!" Oh the joy...

At least now I know how to spell Indianapolis...

   Better
Last night at work went a lot better. I worked a normal section and did okay in tips. I started to enjoy it more like I did this summer. Plus, I really got to talk to one of the girls that I work with who use to really scare me. (She was shift leader on the 2nd day I trained and was really hard on me because my trainer hadn't taught me how to clean up my section very well.) But it was a really good talk and we got to know each other a bit better and now I'm not afraid of her anymore. :) I'd go as far to say we're friends now.

I'm still not too happy about working so much. I feel like I'm missing out on spending time with my family and grandparents (who are only here until Tuesday). Yesterday they all went to the beach and I couldn't go with them because I had to be at work by 4:30 pm. Oh well. Tonight's my last night shift for this week and tomorrow and Christmas Eve I work day shifts, so I'll get to have some more time with my family then. Plus, day shifts seem to go by faster than night shifts for some reason, which is probably why I like them more even though it's less money. But I can't complain about having night shifts this week because I have my Austin trip almost completely paid for after just two shifts. I'm pretty sure I'll have registration, hotel and food taken care of after tonight's shift. Yay for being a waitress.

I'm such a slacker. I haven't worked on either of the outfits that I brought with me. I really need to go to Wal-mart first, and get blue, gray and maybe green thread. And then I've got to figure out how to work my little machine. I accidently left the manual sitting in my room in Arkansas... But once I get started, it shouldn't take me long to finish. And then all I'll have left to worry about is Sister Kate. Hooray! I'll post pictures of my stuff, once I get it finished. Rock Lee is so close. Just one more layer of tulle on the skirt and then adding the collar to the top and hemming it. Oh, plus I need to take it in about two inches. And all Sciezka needs is for the flap to be moved over to the right side. See, not a lot of work. I could get it done in one night if I would just go get the thread...

Ok, so I'm off for now. I am about halfway through "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyer (for the second time) and it's calling to me! Catch you later!

   Crazy Busy
I figured it was about time I let everyone know what I'm up to down here in Florida. My first five days here were wonderfully relaxing. We didn't do much of anything save read books and housework. Gramma and Papa got here on Tuesday night. Yesterday, Mom, Gramma, my sister and I went Christmas shopping. It was fun and tiring. We spent most of the time at Old Navy. Mom and Gramma wanted to get me out of the way since I had to be at work last night. Work...oh dear...

When I got to work, I discovered that I was smoking end cap. At first, I was happy. I knew that end caps were normally first cut, so I figured that they were taking it easy on me my first night back.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

I didn't realize that smoking end cap was high tops. I've never worked the high tops before. (They are a little harder than booths, but only because they seat about 10 people so normally, you're dealing with more people and more orders. AKA More chances to screw up.) Also, smoking end cap is in charge of to-gos. I've never worked to-gos. Bleh, not only was I dealing with being rusty from not working since this summer, I'm having to learn something new...

I spent the night pretty much running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Thank goodness everyone was so understanding and helped me out. I couldn't have done it without my Alehouse buddies. And all in all, I did okay. There were a few mistakes that I felt really bad about, but hey, at least I learned from them and I know what I need to work on for tonight.

Bleh, when I told them I would work, I figured that that they would be so overstaffed from training for the new store opening next month that I would only get assigned 2 or 3 shifts a week. Nope, I'm working 5 shifts this week. Three nights and two days. (Another first, I worked mostly days this summer.) Including Christmas Eve. But I'm working a day shift that day, so hopefully I'll get off in time to make the Christmas Eve service with my family. And then I get Christmas Day off. Well, we all get Christmas day off, which is good. I'm hoping I'm not working so much next week, but I have a feeling I will be. Oh well, I suppose God knows that I need the money. And with a little luck, I'll probably get all of my Ikkicon trip (food and cosplay included) paid for with the money from break.*Sigh* Why do I get the distinct feeling my break is going to go by ridiculously fast this year...

   Wigginess
Ok, so I'm officially hooked on wigs. I've been talking to someone about Motoko Kusanagi wigs, and she suggested dying the wig to get it the right color and suggested getting the dye from Katie Bair's website. So I scampered off to the web site and proceeded to spend about 45 minutes oogling everything. Oh my gosh, the goodies. I seriously want to buy all her stuff! She has a ton of styling accessories and dyes and wiggie stuff. It was like a paradise for wigs.

And then I read through all her tutorials on styling wigs. And it just made me love wigs even more. I had been wanting to learn more about styling wigs. And I seriously think I can do it. I've always kind of had a knack for finding good wigs at decent prices. (Though some of my friends just think I'm lucky. Of course, that doesn't stop them all from asking me for wig advice.) Anyway, I'm now ready to take it to the next level and really learn how to style wigs. Motoko will be my first wig to do serious work on. I'm going to have to dye it, cut and style it myself, and I'm really excited about that. Maybe if I'm good enough, I can make a small side business out of it...Ok, so maybe that's getting a little ahead of myself, but a girl can dream, can't she? But if Motoko turns out good, and Hikaru from Ouran, and Rip Van Winkle from Hellsing, oh Karen from X (talk about curls of doom), then maybe I can start my own wig business...

   Florida Calls My Name
So, I'm officially home. Hooray! Though it was a little icky having to get up at 4 am this morning to catch my flight. Oh well, all that matters is that I'm home with my family!

I can't believe it's already Christmas Break. This first semester of school completely flew by. I'm kind of afraid that the next one will too. The other day I got this irrational fear that once I graduated in May I would never see any of my friends from school again. I began going around asking everyone at least 20 times if they promised they would come visit me in Florida. Yea, it was silly of me. And I'm glad I have good friends who can put up with my silliness. They all reminded me that I was moving to Florida, which insured that they would come visit. And we all vowed that we would meet up every summer to go to Otakon. So, there. At least I know of one place we'll always see each other every year.

Speaking of moving to Florida, I've been trying to meet up with some Florida cosplayers so that hopefully I can make some cosplay buddies down here. It sounds like there is a pretty active cosplay community (what with Maboroshi centered out of here and all). I might try to make a Florida con this summer, depending on time and money. Apparently the biggest one is in Tampa about 2 weeks after Otakon, so I might try to go up for a day or so. Maybe the whole weekend if I find some new cosplay friends to hang out with and the money for it.

Ah, but no more crazy talk about the future. Right now it's Christmas Break and I intend on enjoying mine. Especially since I get to work at the Alehouse. Yay for making con money!

   A Kiss of Paradise
I don't know what it is about finals week, but for some reason I've been watching more anime this week than I have all semester. I discovered that one of my favorite manga had been turned into an anime recently, so naturally I had to scamper off to Youtube to find it. And I did!

I just finished watching all of Paradise Kiss. It was a relatively short series, only 12 episodes. But there were only 5 volumes of the manga. It's kind of a girly series, but I love it anyway! It's about fashion and the art style is so pretty and chic in the manga. I loved how they kept it up in the anime. Though, I almost feel like I liked the anime more than the manga, if that's possible.

They trimmed up the storyline a little from the manga, which I thought helped the flow rather than detract from it, even though it was already a short series to begin with. Honestly, there was only one part that was cut out that I was unhappy about. I won't say what it is, seeing as it gives away the end of the series. But it wasn't too imperative to the story line, so no harm done. Also, for some reason, I ended up liking the two main characters more in the anime than I did in the manga. In the manga, George and Yukari are quite annoying. George is an egotistical pervert and Yukari comes off as a whining, complaining bitch. They still have those aspects of their personalities in the anime, but I found myself sympathizing with them more and actually liking the characters. They didn't seem quite as annoying, and at times were pretty entertaining. Don't get me wrong, Miwako and Arashi will always be my favorite characters, but now George and Yukari are right up there.

More than anything, I felt like both the anime and the manga really focused on developing the characters, which is probably why I love it so much. You really get a sense of who each person is. Of what their strengths are, their weaknesses, their dreams and goals. I love it when a series can pull me in like that. It's refreshing, just like reading a really good book. It's what makes Paradise Kiss so great, even though there is no real large conflict in the series. It feels real despite the heavy surrealism that echos throughout it.

Anywho, it's a good series. I recommend it if you are into that type of genre. It is a shoujo, so it's definitly not for everyone. But if anything, just enjoy the art style and the amazing clothes. Here's the opening to give you a little taste of the show. The song is really catchy. (It's been stuck in my head for the last two days.) It's perfect for the show, if you ask me. The techno-80s vibe screams high fashion and runways. The whole series had a lot of really great music in it. Tommy February6 and Franz Ferdinand to name a few. Well, I suppose I'm off. I need to get back to studying...Hope you like the show!

   What a Downer...
So, I've been watching X and boy, is it ever depressing! Gah! The pessimism is so thick! But it's so pretty...The ladies of Clamp are geniuses...

Anywho, so I've spent pretty much all day watching X while working on my Spanish paper (which is now done, praise the Lord). I started on episode 2 and right now I'm watching episode 18. There are only 24 episodes so I'm definitely going to finish up the series tonight.

It's been interesting watching it. My roomie and I have had some silly moments to offset the seriousness of the series, including me randomly breaking out into "It's the end of the world as we know it," and reacting quite loudly to different parts. ("How dare you kill her dog! I spit on your computer!") So now, I leave you with fun moments with X courtesy of me and my roomie...dedicated to those who either know me too well or have seen X and know what we're talking about...

Me: How dare you get her new clothes all dirty!

Me: Oh my god! Fuma's gay! I didn't know Fuma swung that way!
Dual: No, he's not. Evil Kumui is. Fuma is sitting somewhere inside Evil Kamui going, "Don't do that with my body!"

Me: I think I'm going to develop a phobia of sakura blossoms after this series...and white feathers...

Me: Why is Heaven not winning!? Excuse me, Heaven is suppose to win! I grew up in an evangelical society and heaven is suppose to win!

Me: It looks like they're going to make out! (talking about when Kamui is helping Subaru)

Me: What are those things sticking out of Kamui back?
Dual: Huh? Oh, demon wings.
Me: But what? I thought he was from heaven.
Dual: It's his dream...Kamui is a tortured soul.
Me: Oh, I see...AH! IT'S A NAKED KAMUI!

Dual: *Singsongy* I've got a pretty picture of Fuma!

Me: See look! The future isn't determined yet! Thank God for some optimism in this show. Heaven is going to win because the good angel is on their side, not an angel of earth, see?
Dual:...
Me: Don't you love how my logic isn't really logical.

Me: Ah! She's kissing a naked Kamui! Please, no sex!
Dual: What? She's just kissing his head.
Me: Yea, but naked and kissing equals sex...

Me: Ah, I know Seishiro is evil, but...he's so...alluring.
Dual: What?
Me: Fuma is just evil, but Seishiro, he's evil and so..
Dual: Hot.

Aoki: But if you pull another stunt like this, that's just what I'll be. Angry!
Me: And this is my angry voice!
Dual: And I'm making an angry face and saying angry things!

Sorata: Yea, because you want the eggs to be soft and fluffy.
Me: *giggles insanely*
Dual: Emma!
Me: I'm sorry! I told you earlier that the gutter was way up here *motions high above my head* and my mind was way down here *motions towards the floor*.

Dual: Yup, another naked Kamui.

Me: Gah! Subaru's dead!
Dual: No, he's not.
Me: Well, he's as good as dead.
Dual: Well, that's not very optimistic.
Me: I can't help it! It's that damn show! It sucked all my optimism out!
