   Brainwashing & YouTube

I came to a decision recently. That is, if I ever adopt kids (there's no way in hell I'm having my own), I'd have a lot of fun picking out what they can and cannot watch, read, et cetera. Like, right off the bat, no Barney, no Nick Jr, no daytime children's TV in general. What will they watch then? The first two seasons of Digimon, the original Power Rangers (if I could ever find it), The Nightmare Before Christmas, and select Disney movies (after I've explained the fatal cultural flaws in the plot, such as pretty much all of Aladdin). And once they've gotten a bit older, there will be Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Avatar: The Last Airbender (that show rocks, damn it. There's some pretty complex and depressing stuff for a kid's show, plus it's well-drawn. Good Ol' Nickelodeon), Animaniacs, Corpse Bride, Dinotopia, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, Beetlejuice and Howl's Moving Castle (basically anything Miyazaki). Next stage (middle-school-ish) is full out anime, Pride & Prejudice (A&E mini-series), A Midsummer Night's Dream, Lord of the Rings, The Daily Show with John Stewart, and The Colbert Report (gotta get them interested in politics early). The final stage (high-school-ish) includes gems such as Donnie Darko, Blade, Chicago, Dune, Firefly (Serenity too, of course), The Fifth Element, and Daria. I'm sure there's more to be added in all those levels if I give it some serious thought. But you get the picture. Brainwashing, er, I mean... beneficial personality development is fun ^_^

And now, I will take advantage of YouTube for once, and post the first episode of Bleach. Why, you ask? Cause I feel like it (Muwahaha!)

And now, a music video curtesy of YouTube. The song is from the same soundtrack as my background music. I almost used this song instead (oh, and the show is Avatar)

Later, all ^_^

-Quote of the Day-
[from the Extended and Deleted Scenes. The class is discussing Watership Down]
Karen Pommeroy: "This could be the death of an entire way of life, the end of an era..."
Donnie: "Why should we care?"
Karen Pommeroy: "Because the rabbits are us, Donnie."
Donnie: "Why should I mourn for a rabbit like he was human?"
Karen Pommeroy: "Are you saying that the death of one species is less tragic than another?"
Donnie: "Of course. The rabbit's not like us. It has no... keen look at something in the mirror, it has no history books, no photographs, no knowledge of sorrow or regret... I mean, I'm sorry, Miss Pommeroy, don't get me wrong; y'know, I like rabbits and all. They're cute and they're horny. And if you're cute and you're horny, then you're probably happy, in that you don't know who you are and why you're even alive. And you just wanna' have sex, as many times as possible, before you die... I mean, I just don't see the point in crying over a dead rabbit! Y'know, who... who never even feared death to begin with."
-Donnie Darko-
