Now Playing: FFXI - Republic of Bastok

The game may not be out in the US yet, but that didn't stop me from getting some Final Fantasy XI music for this week's song. As the name says, it's the theme for the Republic of Bastok. I heard it while watching the Live Vana'diel streaming video thing on PlayOnline.com and I thought it was really good. And, what do you know, it just happens to be one of the few FFXI midi themes I found floating around on the net.

There's new music every Sunday... But you already knew that, right?

A Bunch of Stuff That Happened

Well, school went surprisingly well today, especially for having gotten up at about 5:00 PM. After getting up I messed around on the net for a few minutes, checking a couple things on OtakuBoards, before dinner was ready. Of course, I ended up eating dinner in front of my PC, so there really wasn't much of a pause in that regard. Watching the news while eating dinner isn't my thing. Or watching the news much at all, really. Unless something big is going on, I'm usually not interested.

Then came the mad rush to get dressed and ready in time for Wednesday night church. Though of course, just as it happens almost every time I do that, I ended up being ready before my parents were. The message in the highschool class...well, not today anymore, but yesterday...was on obeying your parents. Not something I usually have a problem with, but I did learn a few things I didn't know before. (Though, if you're reading this Samgee, I think it would have done you good to hear it. ~_^)

*puts on "Why Can't This Be Love?" by Van Halen* ^_^;
Yeah, I sat by that "someone" I mentioned in my last post. (And really, Samgee, if you can't narrow it down to two girls, three at the most, you're less perceptive than I thought. Either that or you don't care enough to try and figure it out -- that's good too). I try not to let it distract me from what the youth leader is saying, and it doesn't really, but dang! I've never had a crush this strong before, heh. Just our arms, even with the sleaves of our shirts between them, brushing together a bit on the armrest of our chairs... Okay, I'm starting to get sappy, aren't I? You get the idea, so I'll stop now. (And if I hear any smart remarks about "Dessy's in love!" there's going to be hell to pay. Take that as you will).

Back to the original subject of this post: school. After a bit of playing Animal Crossing and a post in FF Survivor 2, I hit the books. Good progress in chemistry was made, though I'm still behind. History was...well, history. I just read a few chapters, like usual. Surprisingly, English is my favorite subject this year, at least so far. (This coming from someone who used to hate English work and only liked math and science). Who woulda thunk it, eh?

And actually, I've become more and more interested in writing the last couple years (which I credit mainly to writing on OB and ShineGet.com), and one of my English books is all about how to write. So that's been enjoyable, though sadly, I'm almost done with it. I think it's really helped improve my writing, however. Sometimes I'll be writing a post on OB or wherever and I'll catch myself doing something that the book mentioned, and I'll stop and think how I could rewrite that bit in a better way. In fact, I did it with that very sentence.

So now here I am, with school done for...well, technically yesterday, but let's not get bogged down in the details, hmm? It's 2:00 AM, and I've got a few hours before I get tired enough to sleep. What should I do? Certainly not linger about, typing random nonsense at the end of the this post, that's for sure... Oh, heck, I can't resist. *runs off into the night screaming "proofreading time!"*

Monday: P.E. and Chemistry

Ahhh...finally some rest. Today I got up to go to PE and play basketball with some other homeschooled kids and, because people don't like me wearing my steel-toed boots while playing, I dug out my running shoes. Having your toes stepped on by heavy boots can hurt, I guess. One of the girls even took a picture of me kneeling to show off my shoes, lol.

I can move and jump faster with the running shoes than I can with my boots, but the running shoes aren't nearly as comfortable. Running and jumping also doesn't take as much effort with the shoes, since they're a lot lighter, but the downside of that is that I run and jump a lot more... So I actually end up getting more tired out, faster, than with my boots on. I must find balance, heh.

After PE I went over to a friend's house to do a chemistry experiment with him and one of his sisters. Since we're all using the same chemistry book this year, we decided to do all the experiments together. This way we only had to buy one lab kit and we get more social interaction, apparently. That's the one real downside of homeschooling, I guess; you're not around people near as much. (Though for me, I actually consider that a plus in most cases. I'm not a very social person).

So now I I'm finally home, with some time to relax. Tomorrow, though, I'll be getting up at 8:00 AM to go help babysit kids for two hours at my church during the women's Bible study. Apparently, a couple of the people that normally do it are gone or something, so they asked me to fill in for one of them. It'll be nice to get an extra $15 ($7.50 an hour for two hours), and I also might be working in the same room as the girl I like. ^_^

And yes, I do have my eye on someone, but don't get any ideas. We're just friends as of yet, and I don't plan on getting into anything serious for quite a while. I've heard her say she isn't going to start dating until she's ready to get married, and I agree.

Edit:
Hmm, scratch that -- I just got a call, and I guess one of the people that normally does the babysitting is going to be there after all. So that won't be happening.

Now Playing: Belinda Carlisle - Heaven is a Place on Earth

Wow, this week's song isn't from a videogame. Amazing, isn't it? This is the song from my favorite of those Ah! My Goddess AMVs, so I thought I'd use it here. And since you don't get the lyrics in midi versions, I guess I'll post them.

Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?
Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first
We'll make heaven a place on earth
Ooh heaven is a place on earth

When the night falls down
I wait for you
And you come around
And the world's alive
With the sound of kids
On the street outside

When you walk into the room
You pull me close and we start to move
And we're spinning with the stars above
And you lift me up in a wave of love...

Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?
Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first
We'll make heaven a place on earth
Ooh heaven is a place on earth

When I feel alone
I reach for you
And you bring me home
When I'm lost at sea
I hear your voice
And it carries me

In this world we're just beginning
To understand the miracle of living
Baby I was afraid before
But I'm not afraid anymore

Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?
Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first
We'll make heaven a place on earth
Ooh heaven is a place on earth

It's a Miracle!

My printer/scanner/copier is finally working! And I also got a 20 GB hard drive and a CD burner from one of my brothers! Booyah!

We had to re-install Windows to get the printer to work, but it was worth it. (Especially now that I've got 20 more GBs of space). I just re-installed most of my programs, so I'm already back up and running, and everything's going smoothely so far. The main thing I have left to do now is making sure I've gotten everything I want off of my old 10 GB drive, and then formatting it. (To get rid of the old install of windows, you know?) I figure after I do that I'll use the 10 GB drive for my game info and music, which takes up 6 GB, and put everything else on the 20 GB drive.

As of late, life is good. ^_^

   Current Mood: Romantic

Heh, I just went and watched all the Ah! My Goddess anime music videos that my oldest brother has... And so what if I watched some of them more than once? ... Okay, so I did just put that one on loop and stared at the screen for a while with my headphones on, lost in thought... Yeah, yeah, and maybe I did almost shed a few tears... Who says guys can't be sentimental, huh?

All I know is that I must watch this series now.

Fall Cleaning?

Last night I decided to totally rearrange the basement and second floor of my house in Animal Crossing. (The Master Sword shrine on my first floor is only going to get slightly tweaked). So now I've got sort of a lounge/living area in my basement, complete with NES games, (soon to be) a TV, a computer, a CD player, a pool table, and some sofas and chairs. I also have an actual bed to sleep in now, too. (If anyone has a widescreen TV in Animal Crossing and would be willing to trade one for something else, PM me on OtakuBoards or instant message or something).

I wish they had done NES games the same way they did music, though. That is, make it so you just get one NES, and then make it so you get cartridges for the games that you can put into the NES. Then you could just select from the list of games you have when you want to play one, instead of having to deal with a NES for each game; trying to find places for all the individual NESes that go with each game can be a bit of a pain. This is something they need to change for AC2.

For my second floor, Nintendo Power has finally released passwords for all the Mario theme items, so I'm going to use my second floor for those. I'm still not sure on the layout I'm going to use, since I've mainly just been working on my basement so far, but I'll find a way to make everything fit. I always do, heh. ^_^

Now Playing: Star Fox - Venom Theme

Another week, another midi...and this time, it's the Venom theme from the original Star Fox. Most people will probably recognize it from the Venom level in Super Smash Bros. Melee, however. I would've used a remix of the Corneria theme, but that was 88 KB, while this one one is only 8 KB; big difference in size.

I'd write a witty remark about how there's going to be a new midi next Sunday, but I'm too tired. You'll just have to live with it.

No Sleep / Games / Still No Sleep

Bleh, looks like there'll be no sleep for me yet. 6:00 AM and I can't sleep...yet I'm tired. Tired, but apparently not tired enough to sleep, so laying in bed does me no good. That's why I'm sitting here at my PC, typing this right now. And somehow, out of the workings of my sleep deprived mind, it now seems like it's your fault that I can't sleep. Yes, you, the one reading this right now. o_O

I played FF Tactics Advance some more a bit ago. I'm up to 87 hours of play time, with 202 missions completed -- only 98 to go. I didn't end up playing FFVI anymore, though. At least not yet; I still want to continue through Kefka's Tower so I can beat the game. What I did do, however, was play Animal Crossing. And I finally managed to get a Golden Rod (and a neat fish weathervane thing on the roof of my house) for catching every kind of fish; go me, heh. Now I guess I should start seriously working on my insect collection, though I don't think I'll be able to complete it before winter. I'm pretty sure I've missed some of them over the summer months, so I'll either have to mess with the game's clock or wait till next year to catch them. I wonder if I'll still be playing AC, even if only every now and then, in a year?

*rubs eyes, blinks* Gahhh...so tired. It's times like these that I wish humans had the ability to go to sleep on command. It would make keeping my schedule semi-normal so much easier. I wouldn't have to bother about being tired in order to sleep; I could just get in bed at night and sleep till morning. As it is, I usually find it hard to get to sleep before it's starting to get light out in the morning, and I end up sleeping in till the afternoon. Then I end up having to do my school in the evening or at night, which is annoying since I'm used to having that time free for other things.

I lead one really screwed up life.

Final Fantasy VI

On a whim, I decided to play FFVI today. (It's actually the SNES FFIII, though, not the PS1 port). I'm currently going through Kefka's Tower, and I finally managed to beat the last two Dragons, Poltergeist (one of the Statues), and a couple other bosses. That leveling I did earlier payed off; my secondary party doesn't die off from the first couple fights anymore. And for my third party, I've got Mog in it with the Moogle Charm, so I don't have to worry about random battles with my weak party. I just have to watch out for bosses (which I'm fighting with my main party, going in and out and taking different paths), and hope I don't get a monster-in-a-box.

My next challenge will be fighting the Atma Weapon for the second time. I've heard you can steal another Atma Weapon (the sword) from it, so I'll have to try that. Atma Weapon x2 + Offering + Genji Glove = major damage. ^_^ Right now I have Celes using an Atma Weapon and the Illumina with the Offering and Genji Glove, and the damage she does with hits from the Atma Weapon is a lot higher than from the Illumina. (For those of you that don't know, the Genji Glove lets you hold a sword in each hand, and the Offering lets you do four attacks with each, for a total of eight hits). If I could get two Atma Weapons, the total damage she'd be doing would rival that of Edgar using the Gem Box to cast two Ultima spells in the same turn, which does 20,000 damage to most things.

Hopefully I'll also be inspired to play some more tomorrow. When I decided to play through FFVI a second time, I did almost everything up to Kefka's Tower, and then just stopped. (I never have liked end dungeon type places, and I especially don't like having to switch around between three parties of characters when only one can stand up to most of the monsters). And though I've played through most of the game twice now, my first game got erased as I was doing the last couple things I wanted to do before going into Kefka's Tower. So this is still new to me, which is fun, since I get to explore somewhere I haven't been before. And after I go through it, I'll have done pretty much everything there is to do in FFVI -- I'll also be able to say I've beaten the game.

Heh, and maybe after this I'll go back and finish up FFIX, too. I'm just before where you switch over to Disc 4, and I haven't played it in over a year. Aren't I horrible? I play through FF games till I get close to the end, and then just stop, lol. I don't think I've played a single FF game that I haven't done that with. Granted, I only did it on my second time through FFVII, and not on the first, but still... I am still playing FF Tactics Advance, however, and haven't stopped yet. Even if I've been playing for over 80 hours, I haven't gotten the least bit tired of it; maybe FFTA will finally end my nasty habit of stopping-for-a-year-before-beating-an-FF-game. ^_^;
