Booyah, Baby! Booyah!

I just completed the last cup in F-Zero GX on Master Class... Or so I thought. But what do I see pop up after the credits role? "You have acquired 46 Tickets"? No, after that: "Arcade courses have just arrived for purchase at the F-Zero Shop," that's what! You can get the F-Zero AX tracks without having access to an F-Zero AX arcade machine, you just have to beat all the GX tracks on the highest difficulty. Booyah!

Heheh, but yeah, I am overjoyed at this, since I probably won't ever get to play an F-Zero AX machine. (At least not for, oh, say, ten years, when they become cheap enough for an arcade around here to get one). So far I've purchased the first five AX tracks (a complete cup, that is totally and completely awesome), which set me back 200 Tickets, and then Sounds of Big Blue, I think it's called. (That cost 99 Tickets--99 stinkin' Tickets!) And, after beating the AX Cup on Novice Class, I unlocked another AX track. I'm now wondering just how many AX tracks there are, and if I'll be able to unlock the AX machines, also. Some of them looked pretty cool when I was racing against them in Grand Prix.

Also, about that Sounds of Big Blue item, it was actually worth the 99 Tickets. What it is, is an alternate song for Big Blue tracks... And it's the original Big Blue theme, from the original F-Zero! (Though it's been remixed, of course). I absolutely love it! The Big Blue theme has always been one of my favorites in the series, and this version is at least as good or better than the version in Super Smash Bros. Melee. I'm also now wondering if there are more of this type of item, too. I'm really hoping there are; I've always loved the music in the F-Zero games, and getting a bunch of remixed original tracks would be awesome. ^_^

Now Playing: FFIV - Prologue

This week's tune is the prologue theme from Final Fantasy IV. Though you actually get to control Cecil, the main character, a bit before the part where this song plays, it's only walking around Baron Castle a bit. This is my favorite song in the game, and this midi version sounds almost exactly like it does on the SNES (at least for me it does). I love how the story unfolds in FFIV, and the way they did the prologue was, at that time, quite amazing. The awesome music, cool background, and scrolling text that faded in at the bottom of the screen and faded out at the top all came together to fit perfectly with the story that's layed out. Though of course, the prologue really only scratches the surface and hints at the true themes of the game.

Take a look next Sunday and you'll find a new midi, just like every week. ^_^

What Color Link are You?

I made a quiz to go along with that article I linked to. Go here to take it, and find out which color Link you are. ^_^

Myself, I'm Purple Link, if you didn't already figure that from the picture I'm using on here. I'd actually come up with the personalities for each one quite a while ago, I'd just never written them out or done anything with them until now. So if you've been wondering why I like Purple Link so much (no, it's not just because violet is my favorite color), now you know.

The Four Swords of Link

I wrote an article about the four different colored Links in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords recently, and I just posted it up on OtakuBoards for comments and such. Check it out here. ^_^

F-Zero GX too hard? Pffft...

You know, I kept reading about how hard F-Zero GX was supposed to be. Heck, two of the three reviewers in EGM complained about its difficulty and, from the way it sounded to me in the reviews, lowered their scores because of it. Yet here I am, having completed all but Emerald Cup on Master Class, which I haven't tried yet. And for each of the other three cups, it didn't take over five tries to get first in them. (Well, except for Diamond Cup, but that's because I refuse to go on from the first track without bashing five people off to get an extra life, so I usually end up restarting a few times just from that).

Now, either I'm extremely good at the game, everyone I've read reviews from complaining about the difficulty really sucks at the game, or their claims were exaggerated. I'm betting on either the first or third option, but what do other people think about the game's difficulty? Comments would be nice. ^_^

Flogging Molly

Before you totally freak, no, I have not just flogged someone named Molly... Really. >_>

Heheh, Floggy Molly is a band, which I've recently taken a liking to. (See, I do listen to some music besides videogame music). They're sort of an Irish punk rock band, I guess. A couple months ago they stopped in our town for a concert, and two of my older brothers went. After they got home we were out in my oldest brother's room, and he put on some of their music. Then, I wasn't listening too closely, since we were talking and stuff. (My second oldest brother had just driven up from the bay area for the weekend). Now that I've started really listening to their music, however, I'm finding I like it a lot. I'm also wishing I'd gone to that concert.

My favorite song, out of the ones I've heard, is Devil's Dance Floor. Nice and fast paced and catchy. One of those I can just put on, hit the Repeat button, and not get tired of it while I'm browsing the net or whatever. If anyone's interested, their website is www.floggingmolly.com.

New Pet

Yep, that's right, I got a new pet yesterday. It's a Praying Mantis. Yes, it may be an insect, but they're still cool. It's fun to watch them eat, heh. They wait until their prey gets close enough, then they reach out with their front legs (which have barbed claws on them that actually hurt if they grab your finger or something) and grab the insect. They're so fast the other insect never has time to react until it's too late. Then they usually chew off the head first, before devouring the rest of the body. I tried to take a picture of it eating a moth last night, but the lighting in my room sucks.

I've been wanting to catch another Praying Mantis for quite a while. A couple years back I caught one in Spring, and kept it until Autumn when it finally died. It got so fat from me feeding it a couple beatles almost every day, heh. Now, after waiting a long time to find another one (they're not all that common around here), I've finally got one. So I'm happy about that. ^_^

Now Playing: SM - Brinstar West Theme

This week's tune is the western Brinstar theme from Super Metroid, which, obviously, plays while you're in the western part of Brinstar. While it's not my favorite song in the game (couldn't find a good midi of the ending theme), it's still one of my favorites.

Songs change every Sunday, so don't miss 'em.

2-Year Otaku Anniversary

Well, today (Sept. 6) marks the end of my second year at OtakuBoards. Ironically, I've barely visited the board at all today, since I've been doing other things. (Such as playing F-Zero GX, Chrono Cross, and watching The Two Towers). Right now I'm actually making a banner, though I took a break to type this up. I'll probably get on OB after I'm done and I get it uploaded and everything. By then it probably won't be the 6th anymore, though. Of course, it's already the 7th for most people, so whatever, heh.

So yeah, I've been here for two whole years now. Whee. ^_^

Ice Rod Fanart

At last, I've finally gotten my Ice Rod art scanned! And I just submitted it, so it should be up pretty soon. Unless Adam/James decides to torture me and not accept it... >_>

So yeah, pretty soon you'll be able to marvel at my total lack of any shading skills whatsoever. (I didn't even try any shading because I knew I'd fail miserably, especially trying to do it in color). I do, however, think I got it to look decently 3D on the end with the crystal, just from the outline. And even though my spirit will probably be crushed later, when people point out all the pic's flaws, right now I'm still a little proud of myself for managing it that well. ^_^
