Some Religious Blather ^_~
A person's faith in God is amazing.

I've just been reading a friend's blog , and I continue to be astounded by how high her regard is for her faith. She believes totally, and absolutely in her own version of God, and is willing to fight for that belief, tooth and nail. At least I think she is, from what I've read this is the case.

And then there's more people. Like another friend, Kal, for instance. She goes to church every Sunday, almost without fail. And it amazes me sometimes that she'll do it, even if it's raining sleeting and hailing. She'll get up and trundle herself off to church. It's a quality in people I admire. A determination. A willingness to place complete and utter faith in something that has to be true, or you've spent your life living a lie.

That's why arguements occur between people. Maybe not religiously, but in a placement of belief. "I believe this is right, and I believe you're wrong. Thus we disagree and must have this arguement." I hear that all the time, and often it's my own stubborness that gets in my way. How can I possibly be wrong? I've said it's like this, and so it must be so.

That's why I don't like answering questions in Maths too much. There's only one answer (or there's two sometimes in A-Level Maths, but y'know) and how do I know I'm right? I can't always be right, otherwise I'd be a star student and wouldn't have to be resitting a million and one exams this January.

I wish I could have the kind of faith I see in those around me. A willingness to believe. I guess there's nothing wrong with what I think, and I also suppose you could claim I'm not blindly following something. But I personally think that, while not yet willing to put my entire trust in something, I'm an open person. I like to hear what people have to say, and I take it all on board. I also think, in not being sure what to believe, I'm less judgemental. I won't stamp my foot and say "I'm right!" - which kind of contradicts what I've just said...

Blah, like the title says - I'm blathering ^_~

Subbed vs Dubbed - What's the Deal?
Well, I've just been writing in my proper blog and I thought I'd chuck it in here as well ^_^;;

Dubs and subs. What's the difference, and what's the deal?
Well, Dubs are language tracks other than the original. Since they were "dubbed" over. So, in anime it's usually the English tracks that are refered to as the "dubs" because those are the non-native tracks. However, the same anime can be dubbed into French, German, Spanish, Cantonese, Hawaiin, whatever - and they'd still all be dubs. Dubs are just translating the audio into a different language to be enjoyed by people who are not Japanese.
Subbed, is a shorter ways of saying "subtitled" and it keeps the original audio track but supplies text along the bottom of the screen to translate what's being said. Many people argue that this keeps the anime, or show, or whatever, in the same context as the creator intended it to be. The same voice acting that he/she approved persoanlly. You shouldn't try to fix it if it's not broken. And this is all very well and good. Lots of people prefer one type or the other, and that's fine. Watch exactly what you will in whatever medium suits you best.

However, the rivalry starts when people with different preferences clash. People who prefer subs see themselves as truely watching the show "how it was meant to be" - people who prefer dubs see the sub-prefering people as elite and totally close minded. Personally I don't care - anime is anime. And I have a tendancy to warm to the language I saw it in first. Granted, there are a few expections, but that's the case on the whole. Because, I think, if you get to link a voice to a character (in whatever language) then it sticks with you. It's like making a new friend and then his voice breaks. You know it's happened - you can hear it. But if it's the same person it doesn't really make a difference - though his voice may grate on your nerves from time-to-time. ^_~

I was going to make a brief list of subbed/dubbed anime I just can't stand... but out of the animes I like I could only find two that I felt strongly about. For example, Outlaw Star is the only one I can think of that they mushed up really badly. Saiyuki and Gunsmith Cats, however, I prefer to hear them dubbed. It all depends on the individual anime I suppose.

I'm looking forward to seeing Matantei Loki Ragnarok and Gravitation dubbed though... it should be interesting ^_^

GAAAAAAH!!! >_<
Excuse me while I vent...

AHH!! I DESTROYED MY FORUMS!! *weeps* *then sighs* Oh well... I'm gonna start it over... Why didn't I back up? Why?! I could've saved myself a lot of heartache that way!! *grumble grumble grumble* I was modding my forums, and then decided that I'd screwed up and I should just replace the entire thing. So I re-upload all the files, just to find that it wants me to reinstall O_o So I've lost all my dedicated users and all their opinions... I don't even know if I'm going to get all of them back. *sniffles* chibichan and Mamo-chan may not come back... Trance, snoopy, Little k, all gone... Nashi'll come back, as will Bish, Kal and Walnut. But aside from that... *sigh* Yes, I'm obsession... I dare you to stop me.

Good luck to Kal in her piano exam tomorrow - she won't need it, but y'know - you can never have too much of the stuff ;)

And 10 days!!! Teehee ^______^;;

   Not bad compared to yesterday
Well, considering the rant I had yesterday, today wasn't so bad. My Othello revision went well (if I get a question on Act 3 Scene 4 there's no stopping me!). Maths went okay, but I still have that exam paper to finish. My coursework's done though - I just have to print out the last bit which I'm going to do in a minute. English - today I wrote a mint essay (I think O_o) and I'm totally geared up for revision and biting those exams where it hurts! Whoo!

Heh... Okay I'm done!
