Poem for school contest *edit*

This is the poem I'm using for our school contest. Please tell me what you think!

Bleeding Roses

There is a garden, of which I know,
With roses deep red that love to grow.
Centers so dark they cannot contain,
The pain and anguish they drink from the rain.

Their roots spread deep to sooth the land,
Shifting with the time like sand.
Their color so black it hides the way
We people live our lives day by day.

Their leaves, ever green, turn to the sun,
To find some hope, some laughter, some fun.
Only to see the fighting and destruction,
Of our society so full of corruption.

Their petals wilt with the everlasting pain,
That they must carry in this endless rain,
And from their centers do they cry,
Staining the ground with blood red dye.

The garden I grow blooms rich and slow,
Its peace and bliss wills us to know,
Why they bow their heads to mourn,
Because this world is nothing but torn.
