WWE WRESTLER EDDIE GUERRERO HAS PASSED AWAY
I am saddened to inform you that WWE wrestler Eddie Guerrero has passed away at the age of 38, allegedly due to a fatal heart attack.

Eddie Guerrero, often called "Latino Heat", was a talented and entertaining wrestler who was known for lying, cheating, and stealing. He became WWE Champion last February 2004 at No Mercy.

Aside from the wrestling moves that he exhibited such as the "Frog Splash", he was also known for making people laugh. I was one of those that enjoyed his antics and the way he handles his low-rider.

Eddie Guerrero will be missed by WWE and wrestling fans like me. Tears even went out of my eyes when I learned about his death.

I would like to request you to pray for his soul, that he may now rest in peace.

Again, goodbye Eddie. We will miss you.

EVER HEARD OF A SONG THAT CAN KILL...LITERALLY?
Hey guys! Before anything else, I want you to read or, if possible, sing the lyrics of this classic song by Frank Sinatra. It's entitled, "My Way". (Ask your parents or grandparents about him and the song. I bet they know.)

My Way
by Frank Sinatra

And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain,
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full
I travelled each and ev'ry highway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention,
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each chartered course
Each careful step along the by way,
And more, much more than this
I did it my way.

Refrain:
Yes, there were times
I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew,
But threw it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out,
I faced it all and stood tall
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing,
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
Oh no, oh no, not me.
I did it my way.

Refrain:
What is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has not,
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels,
The record shows, I took the blows
And did it my way.

(Instrumental)

I did it my way.

"Now why did I share you this song?", you ask. You see in our country, this song has literally killed a number of individuals and injured others. The rising key changes and high notes of this song often cause singers to go out of tune, sometimes resulting in laughter and jeers from listeners, in turn sparking violent reprisals.

Some of these tragedies include:
1. A man getting shot dead and another wounded in February after laughing at a performance of the song;
2. A fight that broke out in a bar last October after a waitress refused to play the song; and
3. A man getting stabbed last week by a listener who didn't like the way the man sang the song.

And when you analyze the lyrics of the song itself, it really sounds like a eulogy for the victim itself! How ironic.

I think this is a bit funny that things like this happen. But on another sense, it's also tragic. To be killed because of being a bad singer and to kill because of singing bad. Has the world gone cuckoo already?

And I really pity ol' Sinatra. He was a renowned singer at his time, (and I guess a legend today) and now his song becomes the cause of a number of deaths? I sure hope the late singer can still rest in peace despite these events.

That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!

   I WON! I CAN'T BELIEVE I WON!
Hey guys! I just came back from the Press Conference where I, as I said last time, was the representative for Sportswriting (Filipino). And guess what? I won 3rd place! Wow! Out of 21 contestants from other schools, I was 3rd place. And for a guy who doesn't really watch sports that much, it really was very surprising for me. And to think I had to suffer having my writing hand being "frozen" while making the article due to the aircon.

Now my victory today means one thing: I'm going to the Regional Press Conference, which will be held a few weeks from now in Toledo City, Cebu. Well, I hope I can do well.

Well, that's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!

I'M STILL ALIVE! BUT THE STRESS IS KILLING ME!
Hey there guys! It's finally November. My last post happened to be the only post I ever made in October! Would you look at that?

Anyway, I'm gonna be quite busy this coming Saturday and Sunday. Unlike my other classmates who can get a very long rest from school, I have to go to the Press Conference...again! And like last year, my category is Sportswriting in Filipino *sigh*. Since I'm not much of a sports addict, this is going to be pretty tough. But, on the bright side, at least it's not as difficult as Editorial Writing.

On other stuff, I regret to tell you that Blue Hawk, Number 5, ryosuke, aLaStOr10515, and Ezel may not be present from their sites unlike last year. School is really giving us pressure, especially since we're graduating students. I hope you understand.

On anime-related stuff, here's the link of my Detective Conan site:
http://pinoy.edogawaconan.com. It's still under construction, but you can go take a look at it. And if you can, please contribute something to the site. Thanks.

   BACK FROM A CRAZY PARTY!
Hey there guys! Sorry for not updating for the past....let me calculate.....ok...ONE MONTH! I'm a bit busy in school and there was nothing good to post....until now!!

I just attended Blue Hawk's 16th b-day party today! It was great! Everyone was eating, playing PS games, having pillow fights, and even wrestling. I even tried doing the Master Lock on one of BH's friends. (He requested it, by the way. He's okay now.) I'd love to tell you about how BH was upset with her cake, but I guess that's gonna be like suicide.

Blue Hawk: Good thing you know, The Mask! *prepares her umbrella*

Umm...anyway, I'm currently working on a Detective Conan site, courtesy of EdogawaConan.com. I'll tell you the URL once it's finished.

   BLUE HAWK, YOU GOT PUNK'D!
Hey guys! We had our field trip today and it was quite fun. We saw some science exhibits that were quite cool, although I've seen a lot a long time ago already.

But what made the trip fun was the prank that I did on Blue Hawk. You see, BH kept making missed calls to several people while in the bus (read: 31 missed calls!). So I decided to borrow her cellphone and change my name in her phone book from "J.R.P." TO "GLOBE" (GLOBE is the name of her cellular service provider).

Then, I made missed calls to her using my cellphone. She was like, "Oh my gosh! GLOBE's calling me!" Then I sent her a message that told her that "GLOBE will disconnect her unit if she ever makes another prank call."

Good ol' ryosuke joined in the fun and sent her a message that told her that "her unit has been temporarily disconnected for 24 hours since she had exceeded the maximum limit of 30 missed calls per day". To make it more believable, ryosuke even hacked her cellphone.

Then came the last message: "Please contact the GLOBE Service Hotline. Look for The Mask or ryosuke."

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! We were laughing our hearts out when she realized it! That was one of the best pranks I had ever done! Blue Hawk, you got Punk'd!

Blue Hawk: THE MASK!!! I'M GONNA KILL YOU! *arms herself with an umbrella*
The Mask: Oro?! I think I better go now! *runs away*

That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!

LISTEN TO THE RHYTHM OF THE FALLING RAIN...
Hey guys! It's raining here in our place right now, so it's a bit cold around here.

Anyway, my dad and my bro are currently at the Waterfront Hotel watching the concert of "The Cascades". (If you don't know who they are, they're the 60's band who were well-known for the song "Rhythm of the Rain.") What made them lucky was that they got the front-row tickets for FREE, since my dad's company sponsors the event.

Too bad there were only two tickets available. We also can't afford to buy more tickets since it was too expensive. Oh well! I'm busy with my Physics assignment anyway.

And since I was talking about rain and the Cascades, I guess it would be nice to share to you the song, "Rhythm of the Rain". Here it goes:
RHYTHM OF THE RAIN
by The Cascades

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain,
Telling me just what a fool I've been.
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain,
And let me be alone again.

Now the only girl I've ever loved has gone away.
Looking for a brand new start!
But little does she know that when she left that day.
Along with her she took my heart.

CHORUS 1:
Rain, please tell me now, does that seem fair
For her to steal my heart away when she don't care
I can't love another, when my heart's somewhere far away.

(Repeat 2nd stanza)

CHORUS 2:
Rain, won't you tell her that I love her so
Please ask the sun to set her heart aglow
Rain in her heart and let the love we know start to grow.

(Repeat 1st stanza)

Oh, listen to the fallin' rain,
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter.
Oh, listen to the fallin' rain,
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter.

FLICK FUN ON A FREE FRIDAY
Hey there! Today was one of the most unusual schooldays I've ever had. Why? It's because we had no classes at all!

You see, most of the high school students were outside the school to participate in the MILO Little Olympics. (I'm not one of them, by the way.)

In fact, there were only 8 (out of 24) students in my class. That's less than last July when there were only 13 students present since a lot of us got really sick.

Anyway, since we didn't have classes, our teachers decided to let us have a film showing! Weee!!! The movies they showed were "Evolution" and "Mission to Mars". It was fun, especially in "Evolution" where they defeated the giant alien using a huge amount of Head and Shoulders shampoo. (Ha!)

WHEN ANIME MADE AN IMPACT
After posting two anime-related incidents last weekend, I've decided to make a new segment entitled "When Anime Made An Impact". Part 1 of the segment was the 1997 Pokemon Seizure Incident while Part 2 was the 2003 Evangelion Murder Incident. (If you haven't read them yet, see my Archives.) And for Part 3, we're gona have the 1970's Giant Robot Anime Ban. Here's the excerpt:

Anime was already present in Philippine TV in the 1970's. At this time, "giant robot" anime series like Daimos, Mazinger Z, and Voltes Five were very popular to kids. However, these shows was later banned due to violence. But some Filipinos suspected that the real reason these "giant robot" shows were banned by the government because then-President Ferdinand Marcos didn't like the political theme of these shows. The plot of Voltes Five, for example, was focused on rebels fighting for freedom against a dictatorial aristocracy, which somehow reflected the situation of the Filipinos under the Marcos dictatorship. And since the country was under martial law in this period, media censorship was very common.

In 1981, President Marcos decided to lift martial law, which gave freedom back to media. Then on 1986, Marcos was ousted by the Filipino people through the People Power Revolution. With a new president leading the country, "giant robot" anime were now back on-air.

   BACK FROM THE FAMILY DAY!
Hey there guys! We just came back from the Family Day activity in our school. It was quite fun.

First of all, the comfort rooms in the new location is REALLY cleaner than the one from last year. Aside from that, I got to go to the mini-zoo and take a look at the wild animals, especially the monkeys.

Aside from that, me and my fellow classmates won the Catch the Dragon's Tail game. I wasn't supposed to be in the game, but since the original contestants left already, I was included. I got 50 Pesos (less than $1) for joining the contest. Weee!!!

But Number 5 was more lucky. She won 500 Pesos (around $9) in the Bingo Contest. Congrats, #5!

And after the 1997 Pokemon Seizure Incident I featured yesterday, I have to show you another anime controversy. I call this the 2003 Evangelion Murder Incident. Here's an excerpt:

22-year-old Japanese citizen Hiroyuki Tsuchida came to believe the phrase "The ultimate conclusion of (human) evolution is ruin," from Neon Genesis Evangelion. He also came to believe that humans were unnecessary, being responsible for the destruction of the environment. This brought him to want to kill people and he chose to start with family members as he believed it would be easier and it would desensitize him to the process of killing. In 2003, Tsuchida beat his mother to death using a baseball bat.

He was arrested on the same year and was tried in the Yamagata district court. In February 2004, he was found guilty by the court and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Info from Anime News Network

Quite scary, huh? I sure hope you won't do the same thing that he did.

   LONG TIME NO POST!
Hey there everyone! It's been quite a while since I posted here. I wasn't really busy; it's just that I don't know what to post about.

Anyway, tomorrow will be the Family Day celebration in our school. I guess this year will be a bit better than last year. It's gonna be held at 'D Family Park, a place better than the police training camp which had very dirty and disgusting CRs.

The bad thing about this year is that it seems to be more boring than last year. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Anyway, I did some research on the effects of animated shows to children. While researching, I stumbled upon some info about the 1997 Pokemon Seizure Incident. Here's an excerpt from my research:

The date is December 16, 1997, just a few days before Christmas was to be celebrated in the USA. The usual routine was played out. The show began, and it seemed all was well until the symptoms came around about 20 minutes into the show. (symptoms such as convulsions, sickness, ect.) Hundereds of worried parents rushed their kids to the hospitals. Then when the news came on soon after, even more people complained of feeling sick. In all, 700 + people, ranging from 3 to a 58 year old were sickened by what was, sadly, one of the most popular animes in Japan.

TV Tokyo (the Japanese TV station who ran the show) soon found out and went nuts, trying to figure out what happened to cause this phenomenon. It was soon discovered that an 8 second segment of the episode had a "wee bit" too much special FX done to it. (actually it was repetitious strobe light effects from Pikachu's eyes, that was to blame). Anyways, it was soon found out and fixed.......but not before cancelling the series for a good 4 months during investigations.

The news spread quickly worldwide of this problem. As we anime fans know, critics already weren't fond of "anime" in the US and Canada, and this seizure episode gave them more of a reason not to be.

Anyway, that's all I can say. HAVE A NICE DAY!
