A Kindred Spirit!
Today I bought some manga (and a real book too... which I haven't touched yet even though I finished two of the manga already). I got DGM vol. 3, some random yaoi which was pretty good (glasses, yum) and the fifth volume of Emma which is yay.
Every volume it seems Emma looks more and more like me. So I guess if you want a good idea of what I look like, look at Emma. In fact, her current fancy maid uniform is just my style. I wants it! XO
I like reading afterwords by the artist, they're usually funny. :3 Kaoru Mori's are usually pretty interesting. I guess you could say I relate to her a lot... "If you were a guy, you would be a perv." Heh heh heh. I guess you can see a lot of similarity here. That would be my reaction. Ah, bunny girls... Almost as good as maids. But only almost. Maids with glasses! Maids with glasses! Yay moe! X3

So today I'm a raging lesbian. WHOO!

Keep Your Children Indoors...
Cuz I've got my license now and I'll hit them if they're being stupid. Not really, but I'd like to.

I passed the test by a hair...on my third try...but I'm a good driver, i swear! Well, in comparison to Marcella (lol, Marcella lane change! I love inside jokes). Just cuz I don't turn my head all the way around like someone possessed when looking for traffic doesn't mean I'm not looking, jeebus. Peripheral vision, motherfucker: do you has it? (Whoah, sorry for the language. I blame the cats.)

I've decided that next dress-down day I will wear a shirt that says "Meanest person in Good Counsel". With the little falcon logo--with angry red eyebrows drawn on! That's my mature solution to the problem of the narsty art teacher. I wish the idea were original.

I'm making ramen at 1 in the morning cuz I haven't consumed anything but tea and a milkshake in the last 12 hours. Ta-ta.

Exsqueeze Me?
I have a gripe. Grr.

The setup: In art class, we are doing watercolor paintings. Because our class is notorious for never having enough paints, I brought in my own full set, which is in quite good condition and cost a decent amount of money. I had to tell a lot of people that they were not up for grabs, as they kept mistaking them for the class watercolors (same brand, same set), but I didn't really mind, and people were considerate. I let a few people borrow a bit if I felt they were responsible enough to use only as much as they needed, and alert enough to not put them back with the class watercolors. There is a girl in my class named Marian, and I've known her since 4th grade. Not only is she a compulsive liar (not an exaggeration, either), but she's been awfully bitchy lately and she never liked me or treated me well.

The climax: Marian stopped by to ask if she could borrow some. I impulsively said no, because I do not trust her. Marian asked why; I said because she was mean (which she is, or has been to me anyway). The art teacher, we'll call her Ms. S., butts in all of a sudden and says, "That's funny, to hear you say that, because you're the meanest person I've ever met at this school."
Whoa buddy. Hawha? And of course then Marian latched onto her and started telling her about how I kicked her in 6th grade "for no reason" (I had a reason; it was because she was being a bitch and I was very emotionally unstable at that time).

The gripe: At the moment she said it, I was too stunned to think of anything to say in response. Later, however, in CST, I told Tuna about it and she flipped even more than I did. Apparently Ms. S. is every bit as nasty a person as her comment implies--she is extremely rude to the drama department kids, and paranoid about her art supplies to the point of calling the art teacher one room over (their rooms are connected, too) to verify that he said to borrow some from her room. For all this time I had thought she was just cranky in the mornings, but no, apparently she's horrid all the time. Art class is going to suck this year. *sigh* Well, maybe if I'm lucky she'll die in a fire.
Also, me, the meanest person in the school? This coming from an art teacher who will see maybe half the kids in the school at some point during their 4-year career? Yeah, not the most reliable source. She also obviously has never met Evan, aka Satan Incarnate. I hope she does.

Things That Are Cool
I was talking to Exo just now and it reminded me of something I thought was pretty neat.

When we went to Rochester, we did some traveling to and from Syracuse/Liverpool area. The first trip we made in the dead of night (well, 9 PM maybe), and as we drove along we began to smell this smelly smell, kind of like sulfur or methane. It also got really foggy, even though the weather was clear in the surrounding area. It was kind of creepy, but we passed through and went on our way.
The next day when my parents made the trip in daylight they found out the area was a swamp called the Montezuma Wildlife Preservation. It was stink-free and clear in the daytime, but again on the way back at night, it was smelly and foggy. Pretty cool.

This little story is from more than a month ago I think. Both my FMA pocket watches and also my wristwatch had died (batteries) and we couldn't figure out how to open them, so we took them to a clock shop in the local antique district that did repairs. We walked into the shop and it was warm and packed with clocks of every shape and size and age. (My favorite was a vintage-looking Japanese Seiko clock that said "A Nice Clock" on the front.) The young lady at the desk told us to go "up the stairs" for the repairman; it turned out there were three steps leading into another room stuffed with more clocks, mostly grandfathers. The man who did repairs was tucked into a corner behind a table and surrounded by little wall-mounted drawers that I assume held all kinds of watch parts, and he wore one of those single-eye magnification lenses. When he waited on us he spoke quietly, brusquely, and with a heavy accent, maybe Russian or Eastern European. He changed the batteries in the three watches in under five minutes total and commented that the pocket watches were rather poor quality. Then we were off to pay. The whole time I couldn't help but think the man would hand me some old broken watch and say something cryptic before disappearing along with the shop, and the watch would open a portal to some other world. It felt very like a children's fantasy book. Very cool.

Those are some cool things. I'm going to finish re-reading a HaseoxEndrance fanfic now.

A Wee Revelation
I finally realized why I hate religion classes. It's not that I hate religion or even Catholicism (though I dislike being categorized as a Roman Catholic). The problem is that I don't learn anything whatsoever in these classes. Sure, last year in world religions we spent some time on other religions and I learned; and I enjoyed that to some extent. But now basically we're just going over stuff that either I already know or that even the Church hasn't figured out yet (way to go, guys, glad to see the authorities are keeping up with things).

And that is why I am trying to think of every excuse possible to not do my insane amount of CST homework...and nothing's working. Because if I don't do it my computer is going to be forcefully separated from me. And I will cry.

So I'll get right on that homework. After I'm done prepping for anime club tomorrow.

Something's Different...
After something like four years it's hard to break the habit of typing that HTML code in front of every post...but I'm givin' up the pink, guys. Ssh, it's a secret as to why. :3 Not that y'all are dumb or anything. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

I also updated my sidebar information for the first time in ages. I feel accomplished, woot. As a little treat(?) I will now list all (or most) of the things that make me drool.

-Girly guys
-Girly guys with minimal amounts of clothing
-Girly guys in compromising positions
-One or more girly guys in any of the above states
-Short haircuts on tall skinny girls (just discovered this one)
-Glasses, glasses, glasses!
-Nekos
-Chicks with guns
-Lace
-Frills, ruffles, more lace
-Leather or good quality PVC
-Corsetry
-Chains
-Big boots
-Any of the above on guys
-Integra Hellsing
-Sexy voice actors
-A really good beef sukiyaki
-Language dictionaries
-Good quality anime figurines
-L's feet

Now you know how to get into my bed--I mean head. LAWL just kidding, I'm the least promiscuous person I know, and some people probably appreciate that, my parents aside. I'm so terribly evil...

Crunchiness Is Not the Issue Here
Umm. I'm alive. Things have happened concerning other people and that's why I've been quiet lately... That and stuff is boring.

Yeah...I've got yaoi on the brain and...it's really distracting...I kinda wanna write something...Eve thoguh I'm supposed to be working on Azure Endrance for Exo. Eh. It'll get done. I've got some cool ideas for it. In the meantime I have to get my art class stuff scanned in for dA since I said I would.

Yeah, um. I thought I had something to say but I don't. So see y'all later.

Physics, Dammit
This just in! Tory has run out of room on her reference book shelf! Oh god, why?! She still has four more books that need to go in there!!
I have a lot of reference material. =_= Mostly dictionaries and HTDM books, but also some books on Japan that Yuki brought, some art books, some D&D guidebooks, and an assortment of books on various things: mythology, equines, general writing--oh, and two Bibles, which I haven't opened in like a year or two.

Sooo, last night I got to thinking about Twelve Kingdoms. I like thinking about Twelve Kingdoms. But there are some big questions in my mind that have not yet been answered. No, not the fate of the black kirin; we'll find out once that book is translated anyway. No, I like to ponder logistics, how things work, so I've been pondering the system of childbirth. In the world of TK, children are born from ranka (eggfruit) from a special tree, in the spot where a couple has tied their ribbon, a wish for a child. Because there is some transfer between TK and Hourai (Japan, etc.) because of shoku (particular storms), their is the possibility of ranka being blown into Hourai, where they become implanted in a mother's womb and the child is born normally as a taika.

SO, all this having been said, here are my questions. Please feel free to make suggestions to further my pondering.
-The big one: If women in the TK don't have to give birth, do they have wombs?
-Following from that: If the men don't have to fertilize any egg, do they produce sperm? If not, how do they ejaculate (because it is known that there certainly is sex)?
-Slightly less awkward: When a taika is born, does the metaphorical "shell" that affects their appearance in Hourai also provide them with reproductive organs?
-If not, wouldn't a taika notice if they didn't? Not getting her period, not going through puberty (for guys), not being able to conceive, and of course, if a doctor ever takes a look inside and finds a big empty space.
-If a woman doesn't have to get pregnant to have a child, how does her body know when to lactate?
-I seem to recall that the metaphorical shell of a taika wears off as they get older. If this is the case, what would happen to a hanjuu (half-beast) with no shell in Hourai? Would they just stay in human form all the time automatically?
-One of the best questions: About this ranka being planted in a mother's womb. Does the mother have to already be pregnant? If so, what happens to the other kid(s)? If not, would this cause apparently immaculate conceptions? Was Jesus a taika?!
-If a female kaikyaku (someone from Hourai blown to TK) gets her period, does anyone in TK find it odd? Would she be able to get pregnant from a native man (see sperm question)?
-Since youma (monsters) are also born from eggruit, do these ever get blown into Hourai? Does this explain Nessie, Bigfoot, etc.?

Umm, those were more awkward than I thought, lol. Oh well. I do like to ponder. And since this is one of the least-explained phenomena in Twelve Kingdoms, there's a lot to wonder about. Maybe there's more to find out in the books. :3

Warning: Nipples Ahead
I get a lot of my "ideas" for opinionated posts from reading other stuff on the webbernets, but this one is actually a bit more current. Today's topic is breast-feeding: is it indecent or what?

It is not indecent. I'm not even gonna add "in my opinion" or whatever, because this is just so bleedingly obvious that only those who were dropped frequently as children have the right to think otherwise. Face it, folks. Boobs were made for feeding babies. That is why they exist. They are not just hood ornaments; they've got a predefined function and anything else they may be good for is a happy coincidence (quite happy, as I may say, being an appreciator of breasts). Not only that, but breast-feeding is a preferable choice for many mothers for several reasons: first, it's cheaper than buying formula; second, it stimulates the maternal bond; third, it keeps crazy ladies from harassing them for NOT breast-feeding, since a lot of women think it's infinitely healthier for the baby and a moral right and whatnot. Whatever.

So breast-feeding is a good thing. Did I mention yet that it keeps the kid quiet for a while? If you're offended by a breast-feeding mother minding her own business, imagine what it would be like if the child were hungry and screaming hysterically. In the end, the important thing is the manner in which one breast-feeds. When doing something like breast-feeding or using the toilet without a toilet, politeness is really the priority. Just like you should find a suitable tree or whatnot to wizz behind, it is generally considered adequate to place a towel over the shoulder to cover any particular bits that may be exposed. You shouldn't have to go hide in the bathroom or anything; who wants ot eat in a public bathroom anyway? Eurgh, I feel gross walking past them.

What matters in the end is decency. Why should a mother bother being "decent" when she's doing such a natural thing? Well, some people just don't want to see it, for one thing. There are plenty of people out there who are extremely uncomfortable with the human body as a rule, and would prefer not to have a phobic reaction to your breasts. Then there are people who want to look at your breasts but can't, because they would be punished for their perviness (as well they should; staring is rude). It helps all the guys, lesbians, and other lovers of boobery to be polite to you if you cover up.

This brings me to my Public Service Announcement of the Day: If you don't want your body stared at, keep it where we can't see it. Clothes (real ones, not just dish towels you tied around yourself or stuck on with scotch tape), walls, etc. work fine. So that I don't make you uncomfortable, stop making me uncomfortable. Seriously. Put that back.

Life Sucks? Try Kicking God a Few Times
So for once I'm posting in a good mood! Yaayyy. I don't really have much to say though. Hmm.
Well, next weekend is the Rochester trip, for which I am very excited. With any luck the week will fly by quickly.
I'm working on a portrait for art class of Mana. It's funny when I call him "him" and people go "O_o". Ohohoho, apparently people don't know me. Oh well, they will learn soon enough to fear me. I'm very glad we're using pencil for these, because we started the class with charcoal ad I waned to tear my ears off. Charcoal has the uckiest texture and it makes such a terrible noise... *shiver* Pencil is so friendly and useful.
In anime news, not much...I'm looking for the next volume of Love Pistols but can't find it anywhere. ;_; First Anime Club meeting the other day went pretty well. Jen dressed as L that day for no apparent reason so I had to hug her. Cuz, admit, it, no matter who you are, you want to hug L. And I'm still plugging away at GU. I've got the SPOILERS to fight next. I was surprised at how easy those three SPOILERS were. SPOILER is kind of annoying me, but whatever, not like SPOILER has to fight or anything. I hope. I'm kind of looking forward to SPOILER and SPOILER, and especially SPOILER. Hee hee.
Yes, so, once I've finish GU and have some free time, I'm gonna go through all the various allusions and references in the three games and catalog them. Because I'm a total nerd. ^.^
I think that's all for now. Oh, locker problem is in the process of being fixed, so I'm a million times less stressed. Ahhh.
