   About the Smile I Wear...
Everyone I know has dreams and plans to do something wonderful.I only have on simple goal: to make it through each day. I'm hoping and praying it's going to get easier.
My mother and stepfather seperated several months ago. My mother still loves him and wants to get back together with him. What she doesn't know is that my stepfather sexually abusing me. It started last year and continued until the day he left.
I know I have to tell my mother about it, but right now I don't think she can handle it. So when the phone rings late at night, I wake up panickin, hoping it's not him and hoping my mother doesn't ask him to come back. She's heart-broken that he's left. My heart was broken when he was here-and so relieved when he left. Now my heart will survive. Maybe. I'm so angry. Once I was so happy.
I am filled with shame and guilt. My shame keeps me sworn to secrecy. Guilt makes me feel alone. Other students may see me as shy; they have no idea what I hide.
I walk around with a smile on my face because if I don't, I'll walk around looking as sad as I feel. Then I'd cry out loud instead of silently on the inside.
I know that eventually the days will be easier to face. I'm looking foward to that time. Until then, I tell my heart tohide the hurt away. So when I get dressed each day, I paint a smile on my face. It helps me convince myself that I will be ok. My smile is a coat of paint to get others to be kind to me, to see the me that one day I am hoping to see again, too.

I put his here because this was my favorite story in the book "Taste Berries for Teens. It is kinda like Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
