A young soldier, no more than sixteen or at most seventeen, of the Mizumaru clan nervously enters the chamber of the Elders. His ears are back and his eyes are wide, darting from place to place in a pitch black room. A spotlight shines down over him and he drops to one knee, not daring to look at the Elders. He has heard terrible rumors of both their power and their cruelty and he nearly wet himself when he was chosen as a messenger.
“M-my lords, Captain Okena has returned with Lord Kazemaru. She also brought two humans from Terra, a teenaged boy and girl,” he stammers. He flinches as he says that last part, there have been messengers killed over bad news before and he wishes to avoid that fate at all costs.
“Very well,” replies an ominous voice from the darkness. “Send us Lady Captain Okena.”
“Yes, lords,” the young man says timidly. Inside he breathes a sigh of relief. He half expected them to kill him at the news of humans coming. “Are there any further orders?” he asks.
“Yes,” says a smooth and crafty-sounding voice. “Take the boy and put him a standard room, escort Kazemaru to the room prepared for him, and take the girl to the women’s chambers. You may choose a reward from there if you wish,” it adds. The young man smiles inwardly at the promise of such a reward, but maintains a straight face and a gaze at the ground out of respect.
“Yes masters, thank you,” he says joyfully. He was glad not to get killed, but he never expected such a reward. A prize from the women’s chambers normally cost a soldier quite a bit in money, services, or rations.
“You may go now, Sanki,” says a third, gentler voice. Sanki gets up and leaves with a deep bow of gratitude and the spotlight turns off.

As they crest a hill, the four travelers see a metal fortress. It is only one story, but incredibly vast. It looks a bit like a spaceship.
“How in the hell did you guys make this?!” Kaji asks. He is totally stunned. The security shows that there is indeed some technology in this world, as does the design and construction of the building itself.
“Did you think that we were primitives just because we do not use guns as weapons?” Okena asks, raising an eyebrow. “Perhaps if you play your cards right, I can get you some videogames to keep you entertained,” she adds with a wry smile. Kaji’s face lights up. He looks like he could hug Okena then and there, but doesn’t. Imaku spots a runner from the fortress heading towards them.
“Sanki!” Okena calls with a wave. “I’d like you to meet my younger brother, Sanki,” she says to the group with another rare smile. Sanki doesn’t waste time with introductions.
“Sister, your presence is requested by the Elders immediately,” he says panting. Okena’s face turns somber.
“Very well,” she says officially. “I trust you will take good care of our young lord and his companions here,” she adds, patting Imaku on the back.
“Yes sister…er…captain,” he replies with a salute. Okena takes off down the trail. Sanki turns to Imaku, but suddenly, Suki catches his eye. He walks right past Imaku and begins to circle her like a shark.
“I know what my prize is!” he thinks to himself, reaching up from behind and placing a hand over Suki’s breast. She responds by elbowing him in the stomach. As he doubles over, she turns around with her hands on her hips and stomps on him.
“Pervert!” she shouts. She stalks off down the trail again and the two boys follow her, leaving Sanki to lie there.
“I’ll let her get broken in first…then she’s mine,” he thinks viciously. He then gets up and catches up to the other three to give a tour.

While Sanki is giving the tour of the base, his older sister is delivering her report to the Elders.
“You have done well, our little sparrow,” says the crafty voice. “You shall be rewarded when all is said and done, you can hold me too that.”
“Thank you my lords. I live to please the Elders,” Okena replies, standing coolly and confidently before them under the spotlight.
“You may go now and relieve your brother of his current task,” says the gentle voice.
“Yes. Thank you,” responds Okena formally. She then bows in respect and leaves the room. Next she goes to find her brother. She finds him coming from the direction of the Yamamaru clan barracks and looking thoroughly pleased with himself. He is alone.
“Where are our guests?” asks Okena. She already has a bad feeling about the answer.
“I showed them to their quarters as the Elders ordered. I gave the servant boy a standard room, I showed Kazemaru to the suite reserved for him, and I left the harlot in the women’s chambers,” Sanki replies with a satisfied smirk. Okena’s eyes widen and the hair on the back of her neck stands on end. She bares her cat’s fangs and her tail stands straight out as well.
“You fool! What have you done?!” she shouts furiously. Then she takes off down the hall toward the women’s chambers. She hears a scream and a deep uproarious laughter. As she burst into the room, she fears she is too late.
