RADIO MOOT

That's right, tonight. 8:00~10:00 EST you can hear the crazy musics and ramblings of DJ Fuhgeddaboutit, (me) DJ Awesome, (GrapeRoad) and apparently some other people like the esteemed YamiSnuffles, (DJ Chibilicious?) as we talk to you FROM YOUR COMPUTER.

I'm currently working on a report at 3 AM (in the morning) and having a ball! Seriously, I think the lack of sleep has given me a bit of a euphoric daze. Everything is right and wonderful in the world. La la la. ^______^

Yosh
Test and paper make today a little annoying. But the weekend sounds like fun. I expect we need to steal some Naruto 4 at some point.

Thanks to everyone who voted on my fanart. (And check it out if you haven't already, haha,) Next up we'll see if I finish this comic by Friday or not. Then, maybe something else if I don't lose ALL my willpower.

Oh, and yeah for people liking my slightly different site. The background reminds me of the whole Alchemist symbol and that makes me smile. Truth be told, though, it was merely two lines I blasted with the...wave filter, I think, and it ended up like that.
Freaky.

Fanart!
I have a new fanart up. It's a mini-comic for YamiSnuffles' Chibi.

So, yeah, go vote for it if it makes you laugh, okay? And go bother Snuffles, as her comic is the "real deal" for realz.

Other than that...I plan another comic for Friday, albeit one panel. Is this a wave of things to come? Yes. Be wary.

Crazy men...crazy men riding lions!
There's a new T.M.O up for all y'all. I'm a little behind, but I'd love to start a monday/Friday update schedule. Then again, I also need to finish my fanart up that's lying about.

Strife!

Well, enjoy the comic. Toodles!

Well yes, yes?
Interesting comments from many, as usual, much praise to Roboartemis for her genius also, reminding us all to listen to our teachers.

Heh, reminded me of my Junior comp teacher who taught me how to deal with a piece of writing that's being difficult: throw your draft on the floor and leave it there while you go for a walk or something. For DAYS if need be, but don't pick it up again until you're ready to face it.

That was more a vent than anything. I'm not a great writer, none of us probably are, but we're learning. If you've got a passion for writing, then yeah, study it in college and maybe you can get paid to write someday. God knows I'm banking my future on that idea, heh. You're going to get a lot of criticism in your life, so learn to build from it and use what's given to you. Yeah, it won't all be useful, hell, half of it probably will be ignorant, but it can still give you some insight into your own work...insight removed from yourself. If you can get that kind of feedback for free, more power to ya, right?

At the risk of being a jerk, I just MUST comment on what Mr. JD Person has said in my comments from the last post:

1. "i thank you for telling me that there are some still not satisfied with my work."
-Well...are YOU satisfied with your work? Satisfaction really only goes to a point, doesn't it? I mean, how many times have you revised your writing? Once, twice, twenty times?

I'm really just trying to gauge how serious this thing is supposed to be. I mean, are you writing it like it's supposed to be a novel? If you're aiming for that, your format isn't very cohesive to such an idea.

2. "if i fail to meet yourexpectations i think i'll still be a writing god to many, but i'd still like to suck slightly less under your rubric."
- You are a writing god to many? I cannot respond to this in any way without being "mean" so I shan't say a thing. Suffice to say, my rubric comes from one studying writing in college. You're what, high school? You've got time to learn if you're serious about writing, or if you're not, file this away under generic shitty fanfiction on the internet.

Personally, I just like trying to help people out, because I've been in love with writing far longer than I could write. I was (and still am) full of grandiose storylines, and that's key, but your actual execution of those stories will take time and refinement if you are willing to give it to them.

T.M.O is still kinda delayed. Three writing assignments at once has killed my will to control the mouse.

Criticism
There will undoubtedly always be people who will find fault with creation as long as people keep creating. Depending on the level of effort put into the creation, the skill of the creator, and their own ego, any judgment passed on the piece will be met with a response either positive or negative.

How does one measure this response?

If you draw a picture and someone tells you it is crap, what do you do? Most likely, inquire as to how they came to this conclusion and reevaluate the work itself based on your findings. This would apply to peers in your field, more advanced artists, and those who you find some respect in their opinion and views. Random yokel on the street may not have much of a say in your masterpiece, but depending on your goal...a thousand idiots who love your work may be more useful than one genius.

Now where am I going with this...well, DON'T FLIP OUT WHEN YOU GET CRITICISM.
Your ego can be the size of our national deficit (zing!) for all I care, but if you ask for comments on your work, I will respond truthfully. Does that make me right and you wrong? Nope. It means you're getting a view of your work that's removed from yourself, perhaps from friendship, perhaps from any familiarity whatsoever.

whether art or writing or anything, you might want to try remembering that feedback is an important part of the process. If you want it, seek it out and glean what you can from those with more experience. I won't claim to be a great writer, but it's my major, I may know a thing or two. I guess the fact that someone wants comments and I say "needs more detail" only to get yelled at to stop bitching...well, it was rather annoying.

I've had writing I thought was perfect get ripped to shreds by vile professors, so I damn well went back and looked over it, only to find flaws I had never seen before. I think it's a plague on kids who only read manga nowadays and not enough books. They turn around and start writing fanfics with nothing but dialogue, forgetting that people can't "see" the pictures that their word bubbles are in.
Leniency for fanfics aside, (as you can usually shirk on some descriptions, such as characters,) but when this stuff expands into personal characters, stories, and the like...you're going to be stuck with a whole mess of incomprehensible crap.

So either actually USE what people are trying to teach you...or go open a damn book and figure it out yourself.

   Ah, yes.
Well, cosplay was fun...sort of. It started way too damn late, really, but such is the way of the lackluster anime club.

We got third and goofiest. Too be fair, though, our competition was a pair of girls whose "costume" was them stripping to bathing suits and dancing about, and a most hairy man (the anime club leader.)

The thing was...their whole "fanservice" act wasn't really funny or anything. It was just...girls stripping. They won, of course, but it didn't make me laugh as much as our club leader claiming to be the shopkeeper from Beck. Now THAT was funny, he deserved his own prize back, heh.

But in the end, our foursome obtained a bottle of Pocari Sweat (weird, yet fruity?) and five bucks to Borders.
As our materials cost about $1.00 per costume, we each made 25 cents! A net victory for us!

...maybe we'll go buy some expensive Borders candy. Mmm.

Their may be some moving involved. Er, movieing, so the show may be shorter than normal. Stuff will still happen, however. Maybe?

This is no subject
How wonderfully daffy, how drollfully mad!
With what skillful precision eccentrics are had!

First it's talking to squirrels, and giving them hugs,
to fishes and geckos and saving poor bugs!

As you roll around campus, as you roll down the hill,
You scream to the heavens, liberal arts major still!

Building my treasures with tape and cardboard,
trying in vain to be called "Tetris!" Lord,

who would have thought this complex would work?
Run around as a box, and act like a jerk!

We shall see, huh? Cosplay tonight!

Trifling matters
SO we got back from spring break to the glory that is college. I drew a bunch, so I actually have fanarts to color...but it must wait til after the cosplay contest on Thursday and my paper due next week is finished. Yeah, yeah, I know...*sniffles*

Have you tried this stuff "Vault" from Coke, yet? I wouldn't advise it...the stuff tastes like melted gummy worms.
It's green, though, so I assume they will replace Mello Yello with it someday. Luckily they haven't yet, though, since Mello Yello is the only thing that keeps me alive. Seriously, believe it.

Oh...and they killed the pussywillow trees outside the hall of music. Dug up the grass too, how nice. I shall miss them, as they reminded me of the pussywillow tree we had in our front yard when I was a lad. The soft buds were oh so nice before blooming into brilliant flowers for a short time.
To be fair, though, that's just what we called it. Not willows, anyway, but I THINK the tree is a birch or something...there's a few trees that have those kinds of buds. The little guys are actually called catkins...I think. Catkins sounds nice too, though, catkins...catkins...sounds like a name for a little ball of fluff kitty, huh?

Catkins for all!
