Excerpt from SOBV
For all of those people who love Harry Potter, here's chapter four of 'Harry Potter and the Secret of the Black Veil,' my fic. If you like this, leave a comment and I'll let you know where you can find the rest.

Chapter Four - Avada Kedavra

Harry yelled and ducked as a pillow came swinging his way. Laughing maniacally, Remus advanced on Harry and swung the pillow again, only to have himself smacked on the head by the pillow in Harry’s hands. Having realized the truth that Sirius was, indeed, alive, the two had wanted nothing more than to jump around in glee. They had soon found themselves in the midst of a pillow fight. Harry yelled as he jumped off his bed and threw the pillow at Remus, who ducked just in time.

They heard and “oof” behind Remus, and both stopped and turned to look. Standing in the doorway to the room was a glaring Mad-Eye Moody. He scowled at them and then growled out, “What do you two think you’re doing?” He then proceeded to give them a lecture, explaining (quite thoroughly) about how he heard screaming and laughter and thought that Death Eaters were attacking.

When he was finally done scolding them, he turned around to go back outside. Harry and Remus looked at each other, and both grinned mischievously, as Marauders tend to do. This, however, earned them yet another lecture from moody, who had seen them grinning through the back of his own head. Remus reluctantly followed Moody back outside, leaving Harry to clean up his extremely messy bedroom.

HA! As if he cared.

Harry lay on his bed not long after, staring at the ceiling. In just one night, so many things had happened. He had learned that Sirius actually wasn’t dead, and he had learned this from his parents, no less, who were able to visit him in his dreams.

Harry smiled. It was wonderful, knowing he could talk to his mom and dad any time he slept, and knowing that soon he’d be able to see Sirius again. But how were they going to rescue him? What was the veil like? What lay in store for him? And what about the prophecy? As all these questions and thoughts swirled throughout his mind, Harry drifted off to sleep, into a dream that wasn’t a dream…

“Mom! Dad!” Harry called. “I’m back!” The air around Harry began to shimmer and he suddenly found himself in a very familiar place. Harry paled and took a step back. “The Department of Mysteries? Why am I here?”

“We brought you here, Harry,” said a familiarly kind voice.

Harry turned and saw her beautiful face. “Why, Mom?”

“You have wondered what lies beyond the veil,” she said quietly. “It is filled with things that cause hate, pain, and fear. Full of lies and hurt. You have to be prepared to face your worst fears, Harry.”

“But I’ve done that,” said Harry. “I faced the Dementors in my third year, and the Boggart.”

“Yes, but much has happened since your third year,” said his father. “You must be prepared to face fears that a Boggart cannot imitate, and you must be able to discern illusion from reality, for in the veil, they look much the same.”

“We brought you here to help you, Harry,” said Lily. She held out her hand. “Come with us, Harry. We will help you prepare to rescue Sirius.”

Harry hesitated for only a moment, and then extended his hand and clasped onto his mother’s. “I would do anything to rescue Sirius,” he whispered.

A hissing voice replied, “I know.”

Harry was pulled forward by and unseen force and felt himself falling...falling…falling…

Into the veil.

Harry opened his eyes and stood up. Around him there was nothing but darkness, but then an evil cackle erupted and green light flickered throughout the darkness. Where it was coming from, Harry could not tell, but he recognized the laughter. It could only belong to one person: Voldemort.

Harry spun around, realizing he was alone. He knew it hadn’t been his mother and father who had greeted him this time. His mother and father wouldn’t put him into a danger like this. Not when there was a chance that Voldemort could find a way to get to him. Was a dream any different than a reality? Was this Voldemort nothing but a nightmare – an illusion?

Did he dare wonder?

“Voldemort!” Harry yelled, stepping forward as bravely as he could. “Show yourself!”

The cackling stopped, as did the green flashes of light. Harry wondered momentarily if it might all have been an illusion. And then, from behind him, “Potter!”

Harry spun around to face the demonic being he knew resided in the darkness, at his back. As he spun around, he met Voldemort’s cruel, red eyes, and watched the familiar words form on his lips. “Avada Kedavra!”

A green light enveloped Harry, his scar seared with an unbelievable pain, and Harry screamed.

*****

Three loud cracks sounded in the room on the second floor of Number 4 Privet Drive.

The Dursley’s had gone out to a movie, and Harry had been alone in the house, sleeping. Moody had checked on him an hour before. However, when a scream erupted throughout the silence of the night, the three members of the Order – two Aurors and a werewolf – were suddenly holding their wands in their hands and standing in the room where the Boy-Who-Lived now lay, screaming in what could only be absolute agony.

Remus was immediately at Harry’s side, but the tone of the boy’s screaming nearly made him retreat, as it painfully made his sensitive ears throb. Remus watched in worry as Harry writhed on his bed, his hands clamped over his scar. His mouth was opened in a scream that was going on and on.

“Harry?” asked Remus, his voice full of worry. “Harry?”

Suddenly, Harry’s mouth snapped shut, and silence filled the room. Then, his arms went limp and fell away from his face. Remus felt a lump jump into his throat as he saw Harry’s face.

Harry lay completely motionless on his bed as his eyes gazed up at the ceiling, as green as the light cast by the Avada Kedavra curse.

Remus collapsed to his knees at the side of Harry Potter’s bed. He felt the stinging of tears behind his eyes and did nothing to stop them from rolling down his cheeks. “No…” he whispered, trying to deny seeing that his best friend’s son lay before him on his bed, having drawn his last breath, far from long after he drew his first. “No…not Harry…”

   SA ch. 1 Part 2
"Oh my sister, please cease this foolishness. Can ye not be happy for Inuyasha? What he could not have in your heart, he has found in Kagome's. Be at peace now, Sister Kikyou, for he has found love."

"Will he betray her as he betrayed me?" asked the angry voice of Kikyou.

"Was it truly Inuyasha who betrayed ye, or ye who betrayed Inuyasha?" asked Kaede.

"Even older than I now appear, Kaede, you have still the hopelessly naiive mind of a child. Inuyasha is a demon, and for that he must die!"

"And if humans are to live, Kikyou, does Inuyasha's being half-human not give him a shield against your hatred?"

Kikyou turned and looked at the old woman. "No," he said. "It does not." Kikyou turned away.

"Why, Sister Kikyou?" asked a child's voice.

When Kikyou looked back, before her stood Kaede as she had been 50 years before. But Kikyou looked at her without emotion. "You summon me here to persuade me to see your truth. Is that it, Kaede?"

"No, I want you to see the truth, not my truth," said young Kaede. "it was naraku who attacked you, Sister, not Inuyasha."

"How do you know this, Kaede?"

"I have lived far more years than you, Sister, and have seen a lot. Inuyasha loved you, Sister. He never would have hurt you."

"I'm not sorry I shot him," said Kikyou.

"What happened to you, Sister?" asked young Kaede.

"I died."

"By the hand of Naraku," said Kaede, her young face staring up at Kikyou.

"Once the threads of Fate have been tangled, they cannot be undone," said Kikyou, repeating the exact words she had spoken to Inuyasha that day, when Kagome saw them kiss...for the second time.

Kaede closed her eyes. "That would be true, Sister Kikyou, if the threads of Fate ever had been tangled, but they were not. From Fate's desire, it seems to be true that you and Inuyasha were never meant for each other." As she took a step forward, she was suddenly Old Kaede again.

"And yet Inuyasha was attracted to me," mused Kikyou, with a smile on her face that Kaede did not recognize.

"No," said Kaede. "I do not believe that Inuyasha was ever attarcted to ye, Kikyou. He did not fall in love with Kagome because he saw ye in her. He fell in love with Kagome 50 years ago, when he saw her in ye. Be happy for him, Kikyou, for he knows happiness and life, and he lives."

"And I do not!" cried Kikyou. "Because of him, I died, and he shall die! He and that girl who stole my soul will die!"

"The soul within ye in Kagome's," said Kaede. "'Tis her soul that brought ye to life, Kikyou, nearly at the cost of hers."

"You speak as though I should be grateful to her," said Kikyou, raising her eyes to Kaede. "I am not," she hissed. "The girl will die, and Inuyasha with her."

"What have ye become, Kikyou? Ye are not my sister as I remember ye. Why have ye changed so much? Why do ye hate as ye do? Do ye not remember love?"

"Love? What love? As you have said, Inuyasha never loved me."

"What about the love of a family, my sister?"

Kikyou stared at Kaede, her eyes blazing with hatred. "Do not call me that. I have no sister."

"Do ye not, Kikyou?" She looked into Kikyou's blazing eyes and sighed. "No, ye do not. Ye are not my sister. Ye are but dirt and bones brought alive by young Kagome's soul. My sister, whom I loved dearly, died 50 years ago. She, herself, has not risen since, but in Kagome, who is her reincarnation. I pray my sister may rest in peace, knowing Inuyasha is finally happy."

"How dare you say I am not who I am!" yelled Kikyou, flames flickering in her eyes.

Kaede stood calmly, facing her sister's dirt and bones without fear. "Killing me will do nothing but give speed to the inevitable."

"It will give me the satisfaction of watching you die!" hissed Kikyou's dirt and bones.

"Then go ahead," Kaede replied calmly. "Fulfill ye heart's desire. Ye will not win, in the end."

Kikyou's face seemed to grow calm, but the deadly hunger in her eyes - the evil hatred - only grew. "No," she said quietly. "An immediate death is too merciful for the likes of you. Slowly, you will die, filled with much pain."

"No more pain can ye give me than seeing how blind you be to love. Hatred fills ye so, and ye do not fight it, but welcome it. The pain of that is beyond anything you can inflict."

"I think you will disagree," said Kikyou, twisting her hand quickly.

Kaede gripped her chest. Although she did not cry out, pain was visible in her eyes. "Kikyou," she whispered.

"As you have said, dear Kaede, I am not your sister - I am not Kikyou. I will not answer to such from you! I am Uoykik, and I am the executioner of you, and all you hold dear!" Slowly, she twisted her hand further, until Kaede fell to the ground, clutching her chest. "How does it feel to die, Kaede?" asked Uoykik, with a smile. "I hope it's filled with..."

Chapter Seven: A Promise Over Tears
A/N: Finally, the seventh chapter of Souta's Adventure ~ the tear-jerker ~ has come. Hold your box of tissues close...for now...it begins...

Chapter Seven: A Promise Over Tears

"Inuyasha went to Kagome's time?"
"Yes, Kaede," said Miroku. "We watched him enter the well with Souta, Kagome's younger brother."
Kaede sighed. "I have felt the rage of my sister. I believe she knows Inuyasha has chosen young Kagome over her. Ye must go and warn Inuyasha, before my sister finds him. I fear she may follow and attempt to kill Kagome, or Inuyasha."
"Or both," muttered Miroku.
"But kaede, we can't go into the well!" said Shippou. "What are we going to do?"
"Yes," said Sango. "Only Inuyasha and Kagome were able to enter the well."
"Kagome was able to go through the well, I believe, because she held the Shikon shards. Without them, she can not return here. I believe that if ye take one of the Shikon shards, ye can enter Kagome's time, as well." She presented Kagome's jar of Shikon shards. "Now hurry, before it be too late."
They each took a shard of the Shikon Jewel.

"Kagome?" asked Inuyasha, as he entered her dark room. His ears twitched at the sound of her even breathing. He walked over and pulled back her curtains, careful not to rip them with his claws. With the sun shining in through the window, he was able to see her sleeping face. Watching her, he was surprised to see something silver roll down her cheek.
Inuyasha brushed the tear away gently, as he softly sat on Kagome's bed. It broke his heart when he heard her give a muffled sob and another tear rolled down her cheek.
"Inuyasha," Kagome whispered, and two tears dripped onto the sheets of her bed.
Inuyasha watched Kagome sadly, his ears wilted. 'Kagome,' he wondered, as he watched more tears roll from her eyes. 'What have I done to you? I didnt realize how much I was hurting you.' He watched with pain-filled eyes as she shed more tears. 'I should have, though. Miroku was right, I need to ope my eyes further. Kagome...' Inuyasha reached over and gently brushed away the young girl's tears. "I'm sorry," he whispered.
"Hmm...Inu...Inuyasha?" Kagome asked sleepily, her eyes still closed.
Inuyasha climbed off of Kagome's bed and knelt before her on the floor. He reached out to touch her arm, but hesitated, and then pulled his hand back. "Kagome," he whispered.
Kagome's eyelids flickered, then opened fully. She stared for a few moments. "Inuyasha?" she asked in a whisper.
Inuyasha continued to watch Kagome silently. 'What do I say to her?' he wondered. 'How can I expect her to understand? Even to accept me? She has no reason to.' "Kagome, I..." He shut his mouth. 'How can I say that?' he wondered. 'She chose to leave...' "I...Kagome..."
Kagome satred into Inuyasha's golden eyes. 'What is he trying to tell me?' wondered Kagome. 'And why is he here? He came back...why?'
'What is she thinking?' wondered Inuyasha. 'I...I have to tell her the truth. I have to make her understand. I don't love Kikyou, I love...' "Kagome."
"Why'd you come back, Inuyasha?" asked Kagome. "You...You had Kikyou," she said, almost desperately. 'Why did he come back? He loved Kikyou - he chose her. Then...why?' "You had what you wanted, Inuyasha. Why...?"
"I don't," said Inuyasha.
Kagome stared at him. "Don't what?" His golden eyes met hers. "Inuyasha?"
"I don't have what I wanted," he said.
"What is it...you don't have, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked softly.
Inuyasha leaned forward until his and Kagome's noses were almost touching. He lifted his golden eyes and stared into her brown orbs. They shined in the light of the sun entering through the window. "You," he said softly. Then he kissed her, his lips fitting hers like they were meant for each other.
Kagome could have drowned in the passion Inuyasha had in his kiss. She closed her eyes, relishing it. "Inuyasha," she whispered, when finally the kiss ended.
"Kagome," said Inuyasha. "I love you. No one else, just...you." He wrapped his arms around her. "Don't leave me alone again, Kagome. I couldn't bear to see you go."
A tear rolled down Kagome's cheek as she wrapped her arms around him. "Never again, Inuyasha, I promise. Never again."

A/N: *sobs* That was so sweet... *wipes her eyes with the last tissue and sniffs* Well, that's the end of Souta's Adventure...lol...just kidding. No, there's another part - Souta's Adventure Part II. They still have Kikyou to deal with...or do they. You may ind a surprise coming up with "Kikyou." She isn't who she seems, but that's Chapter One of Souta's Adventure Part II. Do you think I should continue and post a chapter 8 here, or make a new fic for Part II? Please review and tell me what you think, and I'll update soon. If you didn't cry here - not a single tear - don't worry. These were tears of romance...tears over pain come later...maybe. And those of you who love Fluffy (Sesshoumaru) stay tuned for Parts II and III. *looks into the empty tissue box* Crap...I need more tissues. *winks* Revew soon and thanks for reading!

A/N: I made a mistake. Last chapter I said that this chapter will be full of teary-eyed readers. Sorry, it's next chapter. This chapter is short and is the door you must go through (along with your box of tissues) to enter the Era of Tears. Please review, and I will not be long in updating the seventh chapter.

Chapter Six: Follow the Little Brother

Souta opened the door to the house and Inuyasha followed him inside. His grandfather was out sweeping up leves and hadn't seen them. He suspected his mother had gone shopping.
"This way," said Souta, leading Inuyasha through the rooms and up a staircase.
'I know,' thought Inuyasha. 'I can smell Kagome. Her scent is all over this house, but I could easily find her. I do know where her room is.' But he could see how happy Souta was to be able to help his sister, so he didn't say anything and let the boy lead.
Souta stopped before white door. "This is her room," said Souta. "I think she might be sleeping, so you'll have to wake her up. But then talk to her. She really loves you, Inuyasha. She just doesn't understand." Then he ran back downstairs, leaving Inuyasha alone in front of Kagome's bedroom door.
Taking a deep breath for courage, Inuyasha turned the knob and pushed the door open. Walking inside, he shut it behind him and prepared to face the demon within his heart.

A/N: Kind of boring, I know, but it's worth going through to read the next chapter, I promise. And I made sure this time. The next chapter is the tear-jerker. It's a happy tear-jerker, but it's makes one cry nonetheless. My friend is mad at me because it made her cry. heh heh Well, please review and I'll update soon. Ja ne

SA ch. 5 - Inuyasha's Decision
Souta's Adventure ch. 5: Inuyasha's Decision

"Miroku!" Shippou yelled when he saw the monk about to go back inside Kaede's hut. He paused, listening. "Miroku!" Shippou cried again, running forward. "Miroku, where's Inuyasha?"
Miroku, his hand on the side of the hut, looked down at Shippou. "Inuyasha wishes to be left alone, Shippou."
"I really need to talk to him," said Souta, stepping forward. "Can you tell me where he is, please?"
Miroku looked at the boy, frowning. "Who are you?"
"My name is Souta," he said. "I'm Kagome's younger brother."

"Kagome never mentioned she had a brother," said miroku, looking at Souta as they sat in kaede's hut. "Of course, I suppose there wasn't much time."
"Well, she told me alot about you guys. I loved hearing about your adventures." He smiled. "Especially Inuyasha."
"Why are you so attached to Inuyasha?" asked Sango. "After all he's done to Kagome?"
"He's my hero," said Souta. "He saved me and Kagome from the Flesh-Eating Mask in our time. I know he can be really stubborn, but it's obvious he loves Kagome."
When Souta looked back at them, they were looking past him. Slowly, he leaned his head back until he was staring into the golden eyes of his hero. "Inuyasha," he whispered.
Inuyasha turned and began walking outside, motioning for Souta to follow. He obeyed.

As they walked through the forest, Inuyasha had remained silent. But when they reached a clearing, and the Bone-Eater's Well was in sight, the half-demon finally spoke.
"What are you doing here, kid?" he asked harshly, but there was something in his voice that Souta caught - heartache.
"I came to see you,' said Souta, looking into his face.
"Why?" asked Inuyasha, turning away from him.
"I'm worried about Kagome," said Souta.
"Why come here and bug me, then?" Inuyasha growled. "Kagome's back in her own time, safe."
"Safe from demons, maybe," said Souta. "But not safe. She'll never be safe in her time."
"Yeah, and why's that?" asked Inuyasha, pretending not to care.
"Because you're not there," said Souta, quietly.
Silence covered the forest. Inuyasha's back to Souta, he lifted his head and, with lonely eyes, stared at the well. "I don't know what to do," he whispered.
"Come back to my time with me, Inuyasha," said Souta. "Please...I can't stand to see Kagome like this."
Inuyasha looked at Souta. After a moment, he nodded. "I'll go."

SA ch. 4 - Into the Well
Souta's Adventure ch. 4: into the Well

Souta sat in his room, thinking about what Kagome had said about Inuyasha. 'I know he can't love Kikyou more than Kagome. Inuyasha's smarter than that.' He opened his hand, revealing the Shikon shard he had stolen from Kagome months before. "I'll just go and see him," said Souta. "And they'll get back together again."

Shippou sat on the edge of the well, staring down into the darkness, waiting for Kagome. There was a flash at the bottom of the well and Shippou stood up. "Kagome!" he cried, and jumped into the well. He could feel the presence of one of Kagome's Shikon shards. However, when he landed at the bottom of the well, the person there wasn't Kagome. "Who are you?' asked Shippou.
"My name's Souta," said the young boy. "I'm looking for Inuyasha."

So, you're Kagome's brother?" asked Shippou.
"Yeah," said Souta, nodding.
"How's Kagome doing?"
"Not so good," said Souta, frowning. "She's really depressed. She thinks Inuyasha hates her or something, but I know that's not true."
Shippou folded his small arms across his chest. "I know Inuyasha doesn't hate Kagome, too, but he can be a real jerk sometimes."
Souta shrugged. I have to talk to him. Are we close to the village you were talking about?"
"Yeah," said Shippou. "Inuyasha might not be there, though. But Miroku would probably know."
"Who's Miroku?" asked Souta.
"He's a monk. He's always hitting on girls and making money by doing fake exorcisms and stuff. But he really does have magic."
"Is he the guy with the hole in his hand that Kagome told me about?"
Shippou nodded. "Yeah. Naraku cursed every male in his family with an Air Rip in their hand. Miroku says that if Naraku isn't destroyed, the Air Rip will someday kill him."
Souta frowned. "Shippou, you're a full-demon, right?" Shippou nodded. "How come you're not evil, like most demons?"
"I was raised differetly," said Shippou. "Why?"
Souta shrugged. "I don't know. If you had the Shikon no Tama, what would you use it for?"
Shippou stopped. "I don't know. For Naraku to disappear, I guess. Or maybe for my father to come back."
The two were silent for the rest of the walk to the village.
