Random anime update: Dec. 26th - 2007
Anime Relations: Myself; Yourself, Death Note

Warning: there are and will be spoilers for the Death Note series in this post. I'll put tags before and after each paragraph that contains spoilers.

[Death Note Spoilers]

I finally got around to finishing Death Note earlier today. I originally watched up to episode 27 back in june but after L died I lost interest and dropped it. And as I said, I decided to pick it back up and finish it.

Maybe all I needed was a break because I marathoned all 10 episodes in a day.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending though, since I had grown rather attached to Light, like L before him. Though I think it was rather suitable because however much I may agree with him I still do believe he was evil at heart.

Anyways, the whole series was extremely enjoyable and thrilling ride. And even though I did take quite a large break in the middle of the series I'm marking it down as a 9.

Other random anime I've finished recently that I'm too lazy too wright in depth about.

I've been acting lazy recently and haven't bothered to write reviews or comments on what I've finished.

So hopefully this review will make up for the time I was inactive.

Name: Mononoke
Demographic: Seinen
Genres: Horror, Fantasy, Demons, Magic

Plot Summery: Mononoke follows the Medicine Seller as he deals with various spirits or "Mononoke" in feudal Japan. He combats with a series of tools and his vast knowledge of the supernatural on his side, but can only slay the Mononoke when he uncovers its form (Katachi), the truth behind its appearance (Makoto) and the reason for its unusual behavior (Kotowari).

Story 8/10

Mononoke does not follow a single plot or storyline but is rather 4 stories compiled into arcs. Interestingly enough I found each arc to be very unique and compelling in it's own way.

Animation 10/10

The artistic styling of Mononoke is truly one of a kind, the colors are amazing and with HD encodes it truly shines. Each new environment is unique, colorful, and captivating. The colors and use of quick camera movements add to the suspense. The animations themselves are intentionally very stiff at times but as the action speeds up they become very fluid and top notch. The backgrounds are rarely stationary, but appear as though you are observing a painting at the same time. Often times the animations of common things such as snow or water are displayed in a very unique way that makes you simply want to get lost in it.

Sound 8/10

The sound and BGM were not overly fantastic or anything like that but they did indeed do their job very well. Weather it was making a scene more dramatic with drumbeats, more suspenseful with the ticking of a clock, or just plain frightening with thumps or screams.

Characters 9/10

Apart from the Medicine Seller, each arc sees the introduction of new characters. Each character usually represents a different Japanese stereotype. Samurai, priests, monks, government types, children, and many others. Kusuriuri's alternate self, I won't give anything away, is almost worth watching the story for on its own. The Medicine Seller is a very sarcastic person and often times at a very serious moment he'll crack a joke that is totally absurd and you can't help but laugh.

Enjoyment 9/10
Overall 10/10

At only 12 episodes is more than worth the time and although it may be very Japanese in terms of content, it does not take away from the enjoyment at all. And I would highly recommend this to any anime fan.

   Le *Gasp* first post
I didn't really know what to post about before now because honestly, I was not very comfortable with thought of just posting about my self.

So instead I'm going to only post about anime. Weather it be writing a short review about a series I just finished or just commenting on a episode I just watched.

So without further ado, I present to you my few readers with a a short review of my most recently finished anime.

Name: Fate/Stay Night
Demographic: Seinen
Genre: Action, Contemporary Fantasy, Romance, Thriller

Completed: Dec. 3rd

Plot Summery: Shirou Emiya lost his parents in a fire when he was young and was later adopted by a sorceror by the name of Kiritsugu Emiya. Although he was full of admiration for his adopted father and yearns to become an ally of justice, Shirou has limited powers and was unable to become a strong sorcerer like his father. That is until one fateful day, he was drawn into the Holy Grail War and had to summon a female "Servant" known as Saber in order to protect himself. It turns out that the Holy Grail War involves a series of battles among powerful sorcerers to fight for the possession of a relic that will grant one's wishes, the Holy Grail. There are altogether seven "Masters" who can summon their respective "Servants" from different classes known as Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Lancer, Caster and Assasin. These "Servants" have to hide their names in order not to reveal their weaknesses to the enemies. The story revolves around Shirou and his entanglement in the Holy Grail War. - ANN

Story 8.5/10
The story was very enticing and enjoyable, as well as very skillfully put together. The only thing holding me back from giving it a 10 was the ending. It was very coherent and fitting with the story but I'm just not a big fan of "bitter sweet" endings.

Animation 10/10
Not only was the art beautiful but the animation and how the characters danced and flowed during battle was simply breath taking.

And since my word most likely isn't enough to convince many of you I found a example on youtube. Crude as it may be it helps me stress my point.

Sound 9/10
Another strong point of the series. The music did a very good job of amplifying every scene to the most they could possibly be.

Characters 8.5/10
The characters were all excellent and well crafted but other I had a hard time relating or caring about any characters other than Saber and Shirou.

As far as character development goes it wasn't the best but what was there I thought was quite good.

Enjoyment 10/10
Despite how critical I might've sounded, I EXTREMELY enjoyed this series and finished it in less than 3 days. The only other anime I've ever watched that intently would be Eureka Seven and Gurren Lagann. This is also more or less one of the reasons why FSN is replacing Diebuster for my 3rd favorite anime.

Overall 9.5/10
Overall, it was pretty high above you're average anime, excelling in almost every area, from the exquisite animation to the wonderful soundtrack. And I'd recommend it to anyone who likes action/romance anime.
