Because I feel like it
Okay....So....I need to say I haven't really been working on my theme....^^' I'm finally going to scan in some of the art tonight. Until I can get them all colored...here's the prologue!!!

“Not many have heard of this story, no one talks about it, no one tells this story to their children when they ask for a bedtime story, no one even pays any thought to her strength and courage. In fact…I may be the only one left who still remembers…”

“I can remember the very night that she came…”

“…It was like a beam of light breaking through the thickest darkness…”

“My name is Helix Knightfall, allow me to tell you our story…”

Near the end of the eighth nova century, a dark age was approaching. The current ruler of Oblivion was murdered on his night of excellence, and that very night his son inherited the Knightfall family throne and the kingdom that ruled over Oblivion.

Helix, who was one of the few who held immortality in the palms of his hands his hands, would not be an easy one to kill. He had also been trained in six different disciplines of the sword and two in hand combat.

The night his father, Heliauron, was murdered; there was a great massacre. Creatures of the dark had appeared and began to steal the souls of many. There were creatures of different classes. Some could wield swords; others could mimic every one of their opponent’s moves, and some can kill by staring into the eyes of their prey. The massacre left only five men standing, and Helix was among them….

They sky was covered with black clouds, the city below showed almost no light, making a dark blue color of the buildings and skyscrapers that inhabited the dark city. The clouds then quickly parted showing a clear dark sky and a red moon glowing. It’s radiant light shown on the city and made a strange mixture with the color there.

Off in the distance five pairs of footsteps could be heard. The people making the noise were hurriedly running through the corridors between buildings. They ran into a dark alleyway, four of them collapsed from aching feet and legs while their hearts raced and pounded hard in their chests. The fifth slammed his back against the wall near the corner. He began to peek slightly around it. He had the appearance of a teenager, the light around the corner showed his dark silver hair and deep blue eyes.

He looked closely and saw far in the distance a large group of the creatures, every second that passed brought more and more. There were a couple that looked like they were garbed in suits of armor. One walked by and turned its head in the boy’s direction. He caught a glimpse of one of its glowing red eyes and he quickly pulled away from the corner. One of the four on the ground looked up at the boy.

“Helix…” he said rather loudly. Helix immediately knelt down and covered the man’s mouth. “They’re right around the corner,” he whispered. Helix stood up and got a good look at all of them. There wasn’t much of a difference between them all, the four sitting in front of him were all brothers, all in their teenage years, who were fighting for the same cause he was, revenge. They all had brown hair and green eyes; they were garbed in the same armor he was wearing. All of them had a silver vambrace on each arm along with gauntlets, as well as a breastplate and a slim long sword. Only Helix’s armor was more king-like and had several belts wrapped around the armor, over all that he was wearing a black cloak.

“Helix, what’s going to happen to us now. Everybody else is dead, is revenge really worth fighting for if there are only five of us?” the man whispered. Helix knelt down amongst them. “Do you remember what this place was like before the shadows came? Before the moon turned red,” One of the other men chuckled. “We all have not lived as long as you, Helix,” “This place was like paradise, despite the fact that it’s always night. Even though this place is just a gap between realms, you could still find happiness. Revenge is only half of what we fight for; we also fight to reclaim that lost paradise,”

“How can you have so much faith that we’ll reclaim it? Even if we did win over the shadows, the women and children were all killed off. I doubt paradise will be made out of us five,” “I believe the prophecy,” Helix said calmly.

They all heard more sounds and noises; Helix stood up and looked around the corner and his eyes widened. The amount of creatures had doubled since he last looked. Helix looked back at the four, “You won’t last in there, I want you all to search the city for any possible survivors. I’ll go in there alone,”

The four nodded, got up and ran in the direction they came in. Helix closed his eyes, took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He opened his eyes and walked around the corner as he approached the shadows slowly. When one of them saw him he stopped. Helix grabbed his cloak and threw it off, showing his armor, the belts wrapped around his were holding sheathes of four swords. Strangely enough several black feathers fell down from the area his cloak was at. He reached his arms to his back and grabbed two swords and held the one in his right hand over his right shoulder. The other he held next to his right side.

Helix bent his knees a little and prepared to charge. The army of shadows turned towards him and they readied to fight. Everything paused and it began to rain lightly. Helix threw himself forward and charged towards the army with great speed. The first battalion of shadows charged, and right before they collided Helix put the swords in a cross in from of him, the shadows swung their swords and clashed with Helix. He was now blocking the swords of about ten shadows. He pushed them all back and while off guard he took his swords and sliced them all in half.

The upper halves of the shadows hit the ground and vanished leaving wisps of darkness behind. Helix back flipped a ways back and regained his fighter stance; he then moved his head in a way to beckon them.

The second battalion walked up a little closer to him and held something over their shoulders. Helix looked closely, the shadows’ weapons seemed to represent machine guns. They began to fire at him and Helix spun both his swords in front of him, blocking most of the bullets. One he didn’t block went right passed his leg, barely grazing it. Helix charged while twirling his swords as they fired more rounds. They ran out by the time he reached them, Helix jumped up and delivered swift swing to the one in the middle. It disappeared leaving wisps of shadow. Helix threw both his swords to the left and right, they blasted through the battalion and their blades stuck in the buildings to that side.

The next battalion was elemental sorcerer types, the one in the middle walked closer to Helix, put it’s hands in front of him and a blast of wind shot out. Helix pulled the two other swords out and crossed his blades in from of him, the wind pushed against them and sent him back a ways. Helix put the swords back and ran to the sword over to the left. The sorcerers threw all kinds of blasts at him and he rolled and jumped away from every single one. He was near enough to the building and Helix jumped and flipped onto the building’s wall. He pulled the sword out and jumped all the way onto the other wall and pulled the sword out. He then jumped onto a high part of the building next to him and kicked off it, flying towards them while holding one sword in each hand like a dagger and with his arms crossed.

He flipped and at the same time slashed at them, killing off all the sorcerers. He held his swords in a different fighter stance while panting. There were still a rather large number of shadows remaining.

The four men ran through the corridors of the city, franticly searching for any survivors. They came to a road that split into two different alleyways. The oldest one turned to them. “We’ll have to split up...you two” He was cut of by the sound of someone moaning. They turned towards the corridor on the left and saw a girl on the floor bleeding intensely and in severe pain. They ran over to her to help her out.

Her breathing was unsteady and there was stab wound in her stomach that went through to her back. Along with deep cuts all over her arms and legs. The youngest brother tried to pick her up and the oldest one stopped him. “If you try top pick her up she’ll hurt even more,” “but we can’t just leave her here!” The oldest one looked past his brother and was distracted by something. The three others looked and were amazed.

In the far distant wall there was a tiny orb of light, it started to grow bigger and bigger until it took up the majority of the wall. Then they saw a figure walk out of this enormus light, afterwards the light vanished and they got a good look of the figure. It appeared to be a teenage girl with flowing black hair and platinum eyes. She was wearing a short white poncho over a tight black undershirt as well as a long white skirt that almost covered her feet, which were wearing glistening silver sandals. One thing that stood out was that she had a pair of large, glowing white wings. She walked over to the girl on the floor and knelt down next to her.

She put her hands together for a couple of seconds and then separated them. In between them was another small orb of light. The girl put it inside the stomach wound and it began to heal itself.

“Stay with her…” She said in a calm gentle voice as she stood up and walked away from them.

Helix charged at the next battalion and swung his sword at every passing shadow until he went right through the whole army and killed about fifty. Though it was a little amount comparing it with the huge army at hand. He was breathing harder and harder every time he killed one shadow. The creatures began to start charging at him now. Helix no longer had the strength to fight them; all he could do was block. And so he did till one of the larger shadows delivered a swift kick to Helix’s back. He was sent flying a large distance away, he landed and rolled onto his stomach. Helix lay there almost about to pass out and began to cough up blood. He heard something come up next to him; Helix looked and saw it was a grenade. He quickly covered his head and it exploded, it sent him flying into the wall and his swords flew out of Helix’s hands. He made contact with the wall and all the armor on his upper body cracked and fell off.

Helix fell on his stomach and it looked as if there was a big pile of black feathers on his back. He slowly began to stand up and there was blood trickling down his chin. He wiped it off and grinned.

He looked up, spread his arms out and four black wings stretched out from his back and it seemed like it was raining feathers for a moment. He pulled the other two swords out, jumped up, hovered for a moment, then flew in the direction of the army and continued fighting. Killing a couple shadows every second.

After a while it seemed like this war had been won already, then the large shadow grabbed one of Helix’s legs, swung him around and threw him, sending him flying through a window in one of the buildings, out the window in the opposite wall and onto the ground in the center of the city.

Helix felt like he was going to go out cold at any moment. He couldn’t take any more of the fighting, but his allies couldn’t help him right now. He heard the army coming close by, he didn’t want to get up, but he had too. He got up and noticed there was a rather large piece of glass jammed into his left fore arm, also that his shirt was almost completely torn apart. He pulled the glass out and it dripped with blood. The army came around the corner of an alleyway and the entire section of sword wielding shadows charged for him. He threw the piece of glass aside and noticed has had no more swords. Five of the shadows swung their swords at him and he blocked them with the only remaining vambrace he had.

His mind raced with thoughts of the past, present and future while trying to defend himself. Is this really how it ends? Do I fight holding to my immortality to end this war? Or do I let myself die and fail my comrades? What am I really fighting for? Paradise or revenge? It must be revenge; at this point there is no hope to recover anything. Helix looked up and screamed “WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PROPHECY?!”

“Knightfall…” A calm female voice said. Helix blocked the swords and turned around and saw a girl walking out of an alleyway behind him. This was the same girl who encountered the four brothers. The girl smiled. “I’ve come to show you your destiny…” “What…destiny…?”

Helix’s eyes widened as he felt a shocking pain going through his body and heard an unpleasant sound. The girl in front of him gasped with both hands over her mouth.
