The Otaku User of the Week (revisited)
Hey guys!!! I know that it has been an extremely long amount of time since I last updated my contest, but now is the time of my return! For my return I decided that a different approach to this contest was necessary! This time I chose an individual work, rather than an overall artist. The main reason I did this? I wanted to do something different, and this was my first idea...no big meeting or anything. So, shall I give you the results?
For my top choice, yes there is more than one winner, I chose a fairly recent work. "Mermaid Among the Shores" The piece was drawn by ElvesAteMyRamen. I highly recommend this artist to anyone, anyday! The artwork is extremely involving. The background provides meaningful atmosphere for the viewers pleasure while the mermaid brings in the eyes to a wonderfully detailed focal point. Beautifully done ElvesAteMyRamen!
My second choice for this contest came from none other than blackwings, one of my personal favorite users. The piece is second only due to its lack of a background. The two characters in "Coming In" are richly colored in a way that teases the eyes into euphoria. "Airy's" hair and kimono blowing in the wind create a beautiful dynamic aspect to the piece not found in many artworks. Beautiful lighting effects increase the already tantalizing colors of blackwings' piece! A must see!
My final choice goes to kiba only for her piece titled "Fire Emblem." This is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, pictures of Axel from KH2! The pose and fire effects entice the eyes to percieve a pain of loss, and even the need to protect himself. It is a touching picture when looked at analytically. Superficially it is still an awesome picture, but what truly makes this art worthy is the emotion within the picture itself. Take the time to seriously consider the art! Way to go kiba only!!
There you have my top three choices out of every piece of fan art on this site for this week. This contest is purely my way of giving recognition to these amazing, talented artists. I hope that each of them recieves many, many comments on these pieces as well as others! So, if you're curious as to why I left the title the way it is, but have more than one user featured...well I left it that way becuase of Nostalgic reasons. Besides....it says revisited, heh heh! Now, go comment! |
