Poetry Posse
-HARSH REALITY-

Standing still on a secluded hill,
With only the stars above as my guide,
The wind playfully whips at my hair,
As I warm myself with an embrace,
And from afar I hear a voice,
Yet I cannot see with my eyes blind,
So I decide to search with a new perspective,
Releasing my mind from the grasp of reality,
I hear again the sultry voice,
Calling out my name so lovingly,
And with my mind’s eye and innocent outlook,
Out comes soaring a magnificent creature,
Ivory wings outstretched and feathered,
As a heavenly glow elucidates from his nakedness,
He reaches out his hand to me,
Pulls me in ever so close,
My shoulder blades begin to ache,
As I hear my flesh tear to make way,
I scream in agony as tears flow freely,
He whispers consoling words in my ear,
While smiling down on me almost mockingly,
After sprouting now lay raw wings on my back,
The divine creature liberates me from his hold,
Sending me plummeting to earth with vicious speed,
I pierce through the earth’s hard surface,
Continually falling until I’ve reached the core,
And just like that I am now trapped,
Wings mangled and torn unfit for flight,
Possessed by hate and sorrow yet I feel forsaken,
To think that I wanted to love so freely,
But now I sit alone as flames lick at me legs,
Regretting the fact that I chose to feel,
To see what’s not meant to be seen...
