part twelve, into the hearts depths we delve!
“So are you sure?,” Blanco placed his hand on his friend’s shoulder.
“Of course I am. I have to achieve the next level. If I do this, I’ll be two steps ahead of you!”
“That’s your biggest concern. You idiot. Of course I’ll find my totem faster than you. By next week I’ll be done. By Ur, I’ll be the next totem of speed. Blanco the lightning.”
“You’re an idiot. The name doesn’t work at all. Some stupid character out of children’s fable.”
“Forget it then. I’ll come up with a different name alright. Maybe even find a name I can stay with.”
“I would laugh if I thought u weren’t being serious. Oh, wait. I will any way! Hehehehaaahaha.”
“That was the cheesiest laugh I’ve ever heard. Now go on, we’ve both got a lot to do.”
Vaughn gave a stiff mock salute, turned and walked away smiling like an idiot.
He’s never going to change, but then again I guess that’s a good thing. I myself have a lot to do. I hope it’s actually not that much. I mean Vaughn made it sound like a hallucination or something.
Blanco stepped into the tent belonging to Vaughn’s chief, and waited. The chief was staring at the ground as if in a daze.
This tribe seems to have a special liking for those weeds. They really shouldn’t use that much, but if they insist, who am I to judge? Is he going to ask me to sit, or what?
“Since you are so impatient, you may sit down.”
Must have been my body language.
“The body says many things, but I was not listening then,” he looked up as Blanco sat down on the only rug within the tent.
“So you really like it rugged, huh? I mean, only one rug. Hehe.”
Tough crowd. I’ll remember to keep my day job!
“Yes. You are quite a humorous young man, but I don’t think this is the time. So why don’t u just ask me the question, so that I can give you the answer.”
“Where do I get the really cool moves with my totem?,” his hands cut through the air in joke kung-fu moves. “You know, hi-yaa, waaaaa, hi-yaa!” The chief hit Blanco in the side of the head and returned to his seat in the blink of an eye.

“If it were not so necessary for you and you alone to do this, I would never allow you to attain the power you are being given. It is true that you are different from the others in that you do not know your own true homeland. So there is no place you can go to find what you seek,” and then he just stared. “Did you expect some great wisdom?” The tattoos on his forehead moved as his brow arched.
“Then what power were you going on about when you tried to take my head off with your ninja attack?” Blanco stood and turned for the door.
“Young one, look at my eyes.”
I’ll do more than look at them. He turned towards the older man and said “, What do you mean youn- oh.” The old man’s eye had changed, much in the same way that Eve’s did. The difference being that instead of giving a command, it gave a world. It showed places that Blanco knew he had been to before. A forest covered in snow, and this forest just seemed to go on forever.
This must be where I was born. My old chief never told me where they found me, no matter how much I begged him to tell me.
A shape was moving through the trees. It was fast. At times it was only a grey blur rushing from tree to tree. No tracks were left behind by it, and then it stopped right in front of Blanco’s view. Shocked, he felt back. The snow was cold.
Snow?
“Hey chief! Your tent has....an entire forest inside of it.” The wolf walked over to him.
“How have you been, Blanco? It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in on you. As a matter of fact, I haven’t seen you since the day your family was slaughtered.”
“YOUUUU!!!!!!,” and Blanco was a wolf and leaping without a second thought. The other wolf blurred and appeared behind Blanco.
“No not me. Did you really think a pup could survive such a slaughter without help? I kept you hidden while the succubus servant of the vampire did her work. I believe you know the one I’m talking about?”
“Her. Why didn’t you stop her?”
“That is the place of your friend Eve. Not yours and not mine. My place is to show you how to replace me,” the wolf tried to smile, but a lupine face is not made for such things.
“Who are you?”
“I am Vorac. Totem of the wolf,” and then he changed briefly into a man, who looked no different from any other, and then changed into something that was a mix of man and wolf. “This is the highest form of the were. At least for now. Whenever a new totem ascends to its place, the power for all weres rises with them. Eventually all weres will become beings of incredible power. And you will be the next step in our great family.”
“If you know all of this, do you know my name?”
“Not that you’ll even remember this, but I assumed that your name was obviously Vorac.”
Do I feel stupid or what?
“So what do I do to get this power?”
“Before you worry about things such as power, you should worry about your friend.”
“You mean Vaughn? Or is his name really Slief?”
“Right both times. And if you want to know where he is, you are a wolf. That makes you a hunter, so find him yourself.”
“What?”
“Use your senses, Fool!”
“Fine, since we’re apparently done with the friendly chat, I’ll shift back to being Stumpy the wolf.”
“You’ll find your leg healed. At least in wolf form, otherwise you will have to wait out the rest of the year for the healing to occur.”
“Sweet,” and then Blanco shifted.
Okay, let’s see what the upgraded Blanco, I mean Vorac can do.
His senses reached out across the world, and his mind was thrilled with the overwhelming sensation that washed over him. The terrain flew past, but he knew he was standing still, and then he was looking at Vaughn fighting three copies of the knight who had attacked Eve the day she disappeared. The urge to help flooded him, and then he was by Vaughn’s side in the middle of the fight.
Why am I here, wasn’t I just talking to the totem, what did he tell me. Oh no. I’m just like Vaughn here, I can’t remember! Might as well make use of my leg, and tear them apart.
But by the time Blanco had come out of his thoughts, the three knights were all dead. “Oh, well. It’s the thought that counts right? I mean it’s not like you even needed my help.”
“How did you even get here?”
“Not sure, it seems that every time you talk to a totem your memory goes on a little trip to the temple of the seven moons. Hey you every find it odd that there are seven totems, and seven moons?”
“You think of the most random things, but yes I have thought of that.”
Laughter rang from the trees all around them, and both switched back to their animal forms. “My master wants you dead, so here I come!” The trees exploded into flames, and from among them stepped Saygram, who was holding his own head. All of his skin was a grey and cracking. “You haven’t enjoyed life until you’ve mastered fire magic. Yes, indeed.”
I have a feeling he had something to do with those so called knights, and that means he has something to do with Eve. He’s gonna die badly, that is, if he isn’t already dead.
Both weres leapt forward at the ghoul Saygram and were knocked back by a wave of flame, their bodies healing the wounds instantly.
This is the first time in my life that I’ve seen a flying bear. We’re going to have to find a new tactic.
Blanco broke left as fast as he could, hoping that Vaughn would catch on. He did, but it wasn’t enough. Saygram caught them both again with an expanding globe of fire. “You are not fast enough.”
I wonder if you could be any more wrong than you are right now.
Blanco jumped around, knocking as much dust into the air as possible. But, Saygram’s vision was not impaired at all. Vaughn charged again, and was once again incinerated. The trees around them were beginning to fall from burning, and then Blanco got his chance. A tree fell between Saygram and himself, and for the blink of an eye, Saygram lost sight of Blanco.
Die. Die. DIE!!!!
Blanco was behind him and charging in to tear Saygram’s legs apart. The same globe of fire began to erupt from Saygram, and it’s light reflected in Blanco’s eyes as he bit in. Tufts of fur caught fire from the heat of the oncoming death moments before the rest of him ignited. Spellforce sent Blanco flying through the air, with Saygram’s leg in his mouth. The spell was interrupted, and the flame died down. Before Saygram could stand again, Vaughn brought both massive paws down on top of his headless shoulders and split the body in two with razor edged claws. The fight was over.
“I’d say our new bodies are quite nice.”
“I would agree, but I’d still like to know how you got here so fast.”
“I..umm...forgot.”
“I can’t believe you.”
“I can’t believe either of you think I’m dead,” both weres turned to see that Saygram’s head was unharmed and still talking. “My master wants you dead. I am only one of many ghouls, and one of us is bound to beat such weaklings.” If there was anymore to Saygram’s speech, no man will ever know. His head was mysteriously crushed. By the print its remains were left in, most feel that it was a very large bear that stepped on him. This is only a theory of course.
