part eight, isnt it great?
Blanco’s lupine form was bouncing through the underbrush of the forest, with a single flower gingerly held in it’s jaws. A second form, much more.....seductive, was waiting for him. Eve’s face turned to Blanco, and the look she gave him could have singed the foliage directly in front of her.
“You’re late, Blanco.”
He sat obediently in front of her, his mouth open to allow her to retrieve the flower.
“Drool on my hand, and I’ll be wearing a new werewolf skin coat. As a matter of fact, I could do that, let you heal and do it again,” she said as she took the flower “But you did do a very nice job of getting the flower. Hmmm. I could make a great deal of poison with the one flower. All right. I forgive you. But remember, Blanco. Piss me off now and it’ll be a poison coated silver dagger I throw into your foot. ”
Shift. “I’m glad you like the gift. Now, let’s get on our way. How many days travel are we from the next checkpoint?”
“Two. I say we stay in that town for the night,” her finger lifted to point at series of buildings just across the clearing. “And do me a favor.”
“Yes?”
“Stand behind something from now on when you shift, your ‘appreciation’ for me is unwanted.”

.....

The bar was rather dark, and even more disgusting. Eve was trying as hard as she could to avoid touching anything, while still existing within the building.
“I don’t see why we have to come here,” she said, dodging around a drunken patron who thought her breasts were hand warmers.
“These places always have rumors running through them. I’m telling you, if we want to know anything, we should be here. Just watch,” he turned to the main part of the room, stepped up on to a table, and said “,Does anyone know how to get through the Valley of Dirges?”
Complete silence fell over the entire room. Everyone either stared at the fool on the table, or whatever was in front of their face. Eve leaned in towards Blanco and whispered “,I don’t think this was good idea.”
“Are you kidding us?,” came the first voice from the pack of men.
Another man piped up “,Do you have any idea how many people have died in that place?”
Blanco gave a blank expression, shifting uneasily in his newly stolen clothing “,I’m sorry. I’m new here, if you could just expla-”
A man who appeared to be the oldest in the room stood “,I’ll tell you what happened. This used to be a happy town. Then that money hoarding king of ours wanted even more money. So he hired us to mine the caves in the nearby valley. What he forgot to tell us was that the caves were inhabited by a giant ghoul.”
Uh oh. I think I know what happens in this story, and I think that I’m not going to like it.
You’re telling me, Blanco.
Oh, hello. So do you have a timeshare in my head or do you just rent?
What are you talking about? Forget it, I’m just going to hypnotize them all, and then we are going to walk out of here, and kill ourselves a ghoul.
“Hey boys! The first one of you to tell me what color my eyes are gets a free ride. If you know what I mean.” Every man in the room, even the blind one in the corner, stared intently at her eyes. And then each and everyone of them went slack jawed as they fell under her control. “You just have to know how to talk to your pets. Are you paying attention, Blanco?”
“As you already know, I’m trying to pay attention to anything but your eyes.”
“You’re right. I did know that since my eyes are up here!”
“True, but the best parts of you are right where I’m looking.”
“Remember the dagger, Rapist!”
“Then stop doing the weird thing with your eyes, and I’ll pay attention to them.”
“Just walk out of the door now, while you still can.”
I’m walking, I’m walking.
The air outside the bar was quite clear now that Blanco took the time to notice. Which was odd for any active mining town. Dust should have been floating around in at least some minor amount. “How do you think the people of this town have been making a living if they haven’t been mining the cliff side?”
“My guess is, killing people like us who wander into this place. The field we walked over would make a perfect graveyard for hiding bodies.”
“Then I suggest we get going, to avoid having neighboring plots.”
Eve gave him a coy look and asked “,Blanco, don’t you want to spend forever next to me?”
“Don’t misunderstand me, I love you, it’s just that I can’t admire that perfect body of yours if I’m dead. “Hhahahah.”
“Everyone should be allowed the chance to admire my body. Ahahhaha.”
“I completely agree with the both of you. Blanco I do say you are a lucky man, if you can be called such a thing, to have a pair of hips like that at your beck and call.” The heads of Eve and Blanco snapped back at the same time to see the man who was standing behind them. He looked like the rest of the townsfolk, but was obviously not the same, since he was not hypnotized by Eve’s still colorful eyes. “I have business with the young lady. So if you wouldn’t mind Blanco, I would like to talk to her alone.”
“As a matter of fact I would mind, so I’ll just stay right here if u don’t mind.”
“Hhmm, good idea ,Blanco,” he said. And then his face shifted the exact same way Eve’s could, and his eyes turned into multiple colors of hypnosis. But where Eve’s eyes were a beautiful rainbow, his were all blacks, greys, and the colors of death and rotten flesh. Blanco became as still as a statue.
“Blanco? Speak to me. Blanco!,” Eve turned with rage in her eyes. “Ok. This is going to be fast, and this is going to be rough,” she said as she pulled out her favorite dagger. She slowly began to walk towards him, the sun went behind a cloud and she bolted toward her unknown enemy. His toothy smile widened, and he caught here in the air with a mental blast. Her body was thrown to the ground. She could only stare up into the sky as whatever had hit here was now pinning her.
“You know I could teach you how to do that if you came over to us and helped out just a little.”
“Helped out with what? And teach me what?” Talking was difficult with her lungs being pressed on.
“Teach you this.” He snapped his fingers, and the force pushing on her became visible as a giant severed hand. “And you would just be helping us with what you were doing already.” His hand went into her pocket and took out the map.
“You’re lucky that’s all you touched. If you even try anything funny with me-”
“My dear, I’ve already been quite humorous with you. I believe I have you pinned, unless my memory is slipping.” He turned and began to walk away with the map in hand. “I’m sure you have this memorized by now and have no future need of it so I’ll just be leaving with it.” And then he was gone.
“Okay ,Eve! Kick his-hey, where’d he go?” Blanco’s head was snapping back and forth looking for the man who had been there seconds before. Eve stood, dusting herself off. “What were you doing on the ground? Taking a nap?” Her hand grabbed him by the chin.
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again.”
“Like what?”
“Forget it lets go.”
She’s losing her mind.
And I can read yours!
