Rough Beginnings


January 15, 2005

Today was weird as always. Kotsu told me to meet him today because he had to tell me something important. Fine, I said. He wanted to talk to me at the park. We met in the afternoon. We sat infront of a tree.

Kristen:"So. What did you want to talk to me about?"

Kotsu:"Kristen, I'm not sure. But I don't think your just... Kristen."

"...What?"

"I know it sounds... strange. But you maybe Kanari's incarnation."

"So, who's Kanari?"

"Kanari? She was... a beautiful, sweet & kind, young villager, with a big heart. And the only humaan I ever loved."

"Loved? Really? Why the only human?"

"I wasn't always how I am now. I'm not proud of my past."

"What? You can tell me."

"I... used to be a..."

"Go on."

"... a dangerous assain. I used to kill... just to see the color of blood. For fun. I was going to kill Kanari. I still don't don't know what stopped me, but I couldn't. Something held me back. Soon, I couldn't keep my mind off her. I couldn't stay away. I would always hide in places like trees and watch her every move. Then I got to know her better. Soon we got close. I wasn't a murderer anymore."

I got up and dusted myself off. I started to walk away, but Kotsu held my hand & stopped me.

Kotsu:"Why are you leaving?"

Kristen:"I just want to go home now."

"Did I say something wrong?"

I turned and looked at him.

"Sounds to me, that you only like me because I'm part Kanari."

"No... you don't understand. I don't love you because you're Kanari. It's because you're you, Kristen. Kanari or no Kanari."

"*blush* Did you just say you... love me?"

"Umm... did I?"

It was quiet for a minute.

"Come on. I'll take you home."

We were walking home. Then it hit me. I wasn't just Kristen anymore. I was a reincarnation. Soon, my knees got weak, and I fell back. Kotsu caught me before I fainted. He had to carry me all the way home.
