   Ibuprofen...
... aka Motrin & Advil.

Indications for use: Mild to moderate pain. Inflammatory disorders [Rheumatoid Arthritis, osteoarthritis], and lowering of fever.

Side Effects: [some of MANY] headache [go figure :P ], dizziness, drowsiness, GI bleeding [intestinal/stomach], hepatitis, constipation, nausea, vomiting, rashes, renal failure...

I just wanted to type a drug up cause I was bored. There are a lot more side effects than listed. Those were the ones that were more often than others. The ones in red are things that nurse have to look out for in case of surgery or people with hepatic [liver] disease. Those are potentially life threatening. I take at least 800mg [big pill] whenever I get bad headaches or the "lady problems" bother me. I moved down from Naproxen which is basically Aleve, but I had a higher dose than what you get at the store. It's almost the same as Ibuprofen, but it is more absorbed, has a higher risk of bleeding problems because of the interactions with other drugs and food can increase the anticoagulantic [blood thinning] effect. There are more differences, but it's hard to put in normal word fashion. Both thin the blood so you should really tell your doc before surgery if you take this stuff cause it slows down your ability to stop bleeding!! Dangerous if you take some right before it cause you can bleed to death! O. o

Always tell about your over the counter meds and even the foods you eat and the vitamins you take! Guess what? If you like garlic or licorice and are taking Aleve those two foods can increase the thinning effect? Kooky, ne?

Questions about the drugs! I learn better when I show others what I've learned and what I need to look up to answer.
