   ^___^

Thursday, June 22nd 2006; 1345.
Listening to Kimeru's Maek You Free.

Oh, boy, I'm trembling as I'm typing this... I got the most amazing news last night, and I'm really really happy and hyper. ^____^ I'm trying to keep myself from screaming. My friend called me nearing midnight last night - luckily I wasn't asleep yet-, and I was so stunned to hear the news. OMG, I can't believe that I got that award. I'm on the Director's List! It's an award given to the top 10% of the cohort, which means I'm in the top 10% of my course!

There are 8 other people receiving the award, including the friend who called. She said: "My dad got a letter; the Director's List." I said: "Yeah, my dad got a letter, too, but he's not back yet, so it's hasn't been opened." She replied: "You got it, too." I was like: "How'd you know?" She said: "The list is online, your name's on it." At that point I was grinning like heck, I was SO happy! She was happy, too, and we were SOOO happy. ^__^

I didn't try tp open the letter; my mum was adamant that we wait for my dad. So I went back to bed. I couldn't sleep, and was trying to keep myself from giggling. In the end, I nodded off, but I woke up this morning feeling quite rested. ^__^ That was really good news, and we received it just as we were stressing out on the projects we had to finish.

Inhale. Wow. Now that I finally got that off my chest; I haven't told anyone except for my family, I can give the highlights of my past week.

Sunday to Tuesday my family went to a chalet for a short break. It was fun, staying up until past midnight, and eating a lot of junk food normally not eaten. ^^ We went to the Theme Park, too, and I got on a few rides. It was cool.

Last week, my aunt form Norway came down for a visit. And next week, her kids are coming, so I think the family dinner will wait until then. My aunt gave us chocolate, and it's DELICIOUS! ^^ I love milk chocolate, but I like white chocolate better. ^^

But the rest of the week, I had to continue doing my projects. *shakes head* Only two out of the five I have to do is actually complete. *cries* And school starts at 8 am on Monday. >_<

But! I don't care anymore, because I'm on the Director's List! ^__^ Although because the award ceremony is on the same day as the visit to the Mental Hospital for Psychology students, I can't go. Ah, well. Too bad, but I really wanted to go on the trip. ^^ But, I'm too hyper to care anymore!

So, all the best, everyone! Take care, God Bless.

PS: To answer Yensid's question, mainstream Singapore schools start their Academic Year in January. It's divided into two semesters, two terms in a semester. A term lasts about 10 weeks, and there will be a one week break between each term. And between semesters, there will be a four week break.

So techincally, school starts on Jan 2 until Mar 10, a week's break, then from Mar 20 to May 26. After we have a month's break, school starts again; Jun 26 to Sep 1. One week break, and the last term from Sep 11 to Nov 17. From there until Jan 1 next year, it's a holiday. So, at most, our vacations last for six weeks. And since we don't have seasons here, we go to school rain or shine. Public holidays apply, too, but there aren't so many of them.

But of course, since I'm in a polytechinic, which uses a different academic calender, my holidays are totally different. Sometimes it coincides with my sister and brother's holidays, but not all the time. >_< That's why it's so hard to plan holidays. LOL

   Projects...!

Saturday, June 12 2006; 1047.

Projects projects projects. Now that my term tests are complete (I think I screwed two papers), I have to concentrate on my projects. So I guess I still have lots more to work on. >_< Uwaah! I'm on a two week break, but I still have so much work to do. *sigh* -_-;

As a reminder for me (and it'll be helpful if I get nudges once in a while):

1) Biomedical Physics debate: Abortion is morally correct. Proposition.

2) Medical Electronics: patch up the EMG circuit. Find data sheet for the IC.

3) Molecular Genetics: do the project on DNA chromosome packing.

4) Apel report on community service.

5) Psychology advertisement skit. Get ideas on how to market a bamboo pole cover.

6) Get some rest.

Right. I'm getting depressed just listing out the projects I need to do. Alright. Better to finish these early, then I can have fun. ^^;

All the best, take care, God Bless.

   On Hiatus

I'm officially on leave now. I have a week of tests next week, and not to mention a whole lot of projects to do after that. I think most of you people out there are on summer vacation? I hope you all have fun! So, wish me luck for my tests! ^^ And a present for Magnus Lensherr: the first icon. I found them all by accident, not mine. All icons by killabarbie from here.

Take care, everyone, and may God Bless.

   Tired...

Just a short update. Life is busy right now. Heck, I'm actually in school, waiting for my lecture to start in 20 minutes. My midterms are coming up in three weeks. Now I've lots of projects and tests. >_<; I feel like screaming with my workload right now!

Just to remind myself:
1) Please do the Medical Electronics project presentation on the electromyogram. AND finish up on the EMG research. Deadline: Thursday after next.

2) Please figure out how to understand the Biomedical Physics topics before the quiz on Monday.

3) Finish up on the Community Service presentation before the Wednesday after next. Oh, and study for the Networking Fundamentals quiz on the same day.

4) Study for the Maths quiz next Thursday.

5) Study for Medical Electronics quiz on the Thursday after next.

6) Get some time to relax before the midterms in three weeks.

So there. It'll help if you guys would poke and remind me to do these once in a while. I'll try to get on as often as I can. ^^ All the best, everyone! Take care, God Bless.

   Very very tiring week.

I'm so tired...

Sat, May 6. 1556.

Listening to: Sakura Kiss, Ouran High School Host Club.

The first two weeks of school has passed. And I realise that being a second year now means that I have more work to do. Even though my time table is less packed, I realised that my workload stayed the same. For my first year, most of my school days were from 8am to 5pm. This time, it's 10am to 4pm. The difference is that they put the tutorials and lab sessions together, so we have to do the same work in less time. So instead of having a 1 hour tutorial and a two hour lab, we have a two hour tutorial and lab. >_<

And my lecturers this time sucks. My Medical Electronics lecturer, who is also my lab/tutorial teacher, will explain the topics slowly in a very long winded way, and when he realised that he won't have enough time to finish the lecture, speed up. He's very very boring. We were supposed to learn how to solder resistors to a circuit board. All he did is show us how to do it once, and that was it. Then he told us to go home and try it for ourselves. >_<;

And Biomedical Physics... God, my lecturer sounds like he's struggling to explain the dynamics of Fluid Pressure and all those things... I couldn't understand anything he's talking about! >_< I really need help for this subject, as I never took Physics in secondary school. Luckily, my tutorial teacher is not my lecturer, so I have someone to help me. ^^

And if anyone's interested, here's the list of subjects I'm taking this semester.
Biomedical Physics
Engineering Maths 3
Introduction to Psychology
Medical Electronics
Molecular Genetics
Networking Fundamentals

Enough talk about school. Yesterday, there was a gathering for all those in my course. We were to mingle around and know more about our juniors and seniors. It was fun, though very tiring. There were games, mostly water, of which I didn't participate in, because I was wearing white. ^^ Which was lucky, because at our last station, my group members were doused with water from two floors above. They threw pails of water on them. ^^ I didn't get wet at all! ^^ And in the end, my group won second place. ^^

A long post. I think it'll be quite a while until my next post. Lots of projects to do. I'll try to visit when I've got time. ^^ Till next time, all the best, take care, God Bless.

   Tired.

Saturday 22 Apr 06; 1552.

It's been an eventful week. Last friday my brother and I went to visit my grandparents (they live with my uncle's family) and was dragged out to dinner at a Thai restaurant. The food was nice, and we all went for ice cream afterwards. ^^ I had a fun time with my cousin. He's my age, but he's attending a Junior College while I attend a Polytechnic. So which means he's taking the A Level exams at the end of this year, while I get my diploma next year. Talking to him was fun. My family and my uncle(my dad's bro)'s don't talk to each other often. We live on the opposite sides of the city, and only see each other during special occasions once every two months, usually. Pathetic, huh?

Thursday I went to watch a movie with my friends. Take the Lead, starring Antonio Banderas. ^^ It was a really great movie! ^^ I was my first time stepping into a movie theater (I'm serious; my parents disapprove) and there was a ten minute segment before the start of the movie playing nothing but advertisements. >_< Since it was my first time, I was giggling all the way.

I've got my timetable, though I don't really know what subjects I'm actually taking except for Psychology and Molecular Genetics. School's starting on Monday. I would've had to go in at 8 am, but since it's the first day, there's no lab. So my first lesson is at 12. I think my timetable isn't as packed as the last two semesters', but I'll be quite busy still. Mondays are 8am to 4pm. Tuesdays are 10am to 4pm. Wednesdays are 9am to 4pm. Thursdays are 10am to 7pm. Fridays are the best: 9am to 1pm. ^^

Good luck with school (or work or whatever -_-;), everyone! All the best, take care, God Bless.

   I'm back... computer all healthy.

YES, my computer is all fixed and healthy. But all files gone. I defaulted the computer, so all my files are gone. I backed them up, but I couldn't fit the GSD Final Plus into my camera's memory or the thumb drive. So now I only have Full Metal Alchemist's episodes 13 and 39 (the funny ones) and GSD 39. All other stuff is still intact; pictures were uploaded to photobucket.

Good thing about reformatting my hard disk is that now my comouter is more secure. I have reliable antivirus, and now I can use MSN Messenger, which I couldn't last time. And I'm using Firefox now, instead of Internet Explorer. ^^ So I now can go visit all the sites on myO again! ^^

Lately I've been watching Prince of Tennis on YouTube. Great way to pass time. I'm also watching anime on tv. Subbed ones. Witch Hunter Robin is playing, and there's a new one called Desert Punk. They're quite good, and is more geared towards adults than kids. ^^

I've also been reading manga. Vampire Knight, Zig Zag, Tsubasa, Fruits Basket, Ouran High Host Club and Mythical Detective Loki. There's this publishing company, Chuang Yi, which releases manga translated into English in Singapore. they have a lot of titles, including Saiyuki Reload, Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden, etc, all translated into english. All the manga I read are from them. Although they don't ship overseas because their licences are only meant for Singapore only, wallgarden.com.sg buys the manga and resells them overseas. I don't know how reliable this site is though, because I've never needed to buy stuff online. ^^

Alright, this concludes my post today. ^^ A long one. I was thinking of changing my layout soon. Maybe. LOL. All the best, everyone! Take care, God Bless.

PS: And to answer you, Yensid, we call it mosque. It's our place of worship, though we can pray anywhere, really. Most people don't understand Islam, and they think that the Islam that they understand is THE Islam. And Islam and Christianity is more similar than you'd think. I can elaborate on this at length, if you want. ^^ PM or email me.

   ARRRGHHH!!!

I hate this. My computer is infected with spyware, adware, the works. No virus, though, which is good. Still, annoying pop ups appear at random, sometimes about spyware, sometimes about casinos, and most infuriatingly, about sex. >_< How am I going to let my brother use the computer now?

I tried to flush out this spyware, but I couldn't completely delete evreything. So now, I'm planning to wipe the hard drive and hopefully, everything will be back to normal. After I back up and store all my files on a thumb drive, which I'm planning to get very soon.

I haven't been really active lately on myO, mainly because of this adware, spyware, thing. So the next time you see me posting or commenting will be when I actually manage to get my computer back to normal. *sigh* Which might be a long time, what with my procrastinating habits, the like. >_< So pester me, and maybe I'll get back sooner. -_-; I realised that I really need people to yell at me before I get anything done.

And something I found online. A TIME photo essay on an islamic school in Illinois. Really interesting. Somewhat similar to my old school, (we call it madrasah, which is school in arabic) except that the headscarf is part of the uniform from the start. I attended an all-girls madrasah since primary one at the age of 7, and left at secondary 4, at age 16.

Hope to see you all again soon! So, all the best everyone. Take care! ^^

   -_-;

Wow. I'm in a mixed mood. I'm estatic because I saw the Prince of Tennis movie trailer. I'm a huge fan of PoT and that trailer had really hot guys in it... *screams* It was so cool! I can't wait to watch it! With subs, of course. ^^

I'm a bit ticked off because of bloody bad dubbing. They're playing Gundam SEED Destiny, and the dubbing is so awful. Granted, you can't translate directly from jap to english, but this is ridiculous! So the show is shown with dual sound, english and jap, with english subtitles. Since my tv doesn't have the dual sound function, I had to watch it in english. So, we were watching Phase 25, the one where Kira and Athrun were talking, and Kira says: 'I'll stop the fighting.' while the subs says: 'I don't want to fight, please don't make me fight.'. I mean, how different is that? There are numerous other differences in the sub and dub, but I'm too tired to say any other.

But the main point is that the dub changes the perspective of the viewer. When you see the dub, you see Kira as the selfless hero or something, because he said that he'll stop the fighting. But in the sub, he actually said that he doesn't want to fight. He doesn't like to fight, contrary to what the dub makes him out to be. And that's frustrating! To me, at least. I know most people don't care about sub or dub, but I feel that the dubs change the whole character sometimes. -_-; Okay, I'll stop the rant.

Ryoma-kun
I already forgot where I got this, but he's Echizen Ryoma from PoT. ^^ Isn't he cute?

A short update. All the best, everyone. Take care! ^^ *huggles*

   It's hot hot HOT!!!!

I'm really irritated. It's really really hot! It's like 33 degrees Celcius out here, and I'm inside the house! We have no air conditioning, and the fan's already turned on.

If anyone's wondering, I live on an island nation called Singapore. It's located in South East Asia, near the equator. Which means I live in a tropical country. And which also means that it's hot everywhere: the beach, the park, etc. Except the shopping centres. Those are air conditioned. So the temperatures for Singapore is around 25-33 degrees Celsius. That's like 77-91 degrees Fahrenheit. >_< Now you understand why I'm griping about the heat?

The past two day's workshop was fun. I learnt about learning styles. Try this site for an online test to see what your learning style is like. There's 70 questions for you to answer, but it really works. I find that it really reflects what I do when I study. Here's my results, comparing it with those in my age group.

I've cooled down a bit now, but it's still hot! It's 4 PM here, and FMA is playing. I'm off to go and get a drink. All the best, take care, and God Bless. ^^
