Highlights of the Week^^
I've been jumpy in orchestra the whole week because the teacher's been threatening us with a chair test (we play a section of a piece individually and she moves us depending on how well we do) I'm afraid she'll test us on the shifting part... [side note: I quit private lessons a couple weeks ago. The teacher was too focused on recitals :( ] So I don't know shifting, except 2nd and 3rd position (there are, like, 8 positions) But I can guess my way around positions up to 6. Bleh.

We had a special event called the Hunger Luncheon on Wednesday as part of our school’s “International Week”. It took place in the Gym at lunch. The way it worked was, we paid $2 for a ticket (I believe proceeds go to children in Africa), and when we arrived, we were given a numbered card; I think the numbers were 1-19. Once everyone got a card (there were about 780 people [that’s a lot of cards!] 0_0) they called out a few numbers, and people with those numbers on their cards got First World lunch. That has turkey, peas, mashed potatoes, biscuits, cranberry sauce, butter, and apple juice, as well as a cupcake for dessert. Those people ate at tables with tableclothes and folding chairs. After calling the First World numbers, they called out some more, and those were the Second World people (beans, rice, and water [they got a fork], who eat at those fold-out tables). Everyone else, the majority of the students, got Third World, which is rice, water, and no utensils, eating on the floor. The point was to raise awareness how most of the world doesn’t get enough to eat, those who do are often wasteful, and the people who are the worst off don’t always have food every day.
I’ve done this event every year at school, and I got First World both years. Actually, I didn’t want to get First Word three years in a row; I felt like it wouldn’t be fair. And what do you know, I got called for First World (crap.) But I had a friend who had Second World two years in a row, so we traded tickets. And I got Third World. Which, strangely enough, made me happy^^
But the most adorable part was, while we were eating, they were showing a slide show of children in orphanages in Africa, and there was this one picture of a group of boys in soccer uniforms. Then, we noticed they were wearing uniforms from our city youth soccer league that we donated! (They were dark-red uniforms with “Sharks” printed on them) It made me a bit teary; the kids had such big smiles!

Okay, fine. See if I care.
~~~
I CARE!!! :(
But anyways, I'll post a super-short journal of the trip, if I ever get around to it. (I probably won't...)
EDIT-later that day
Omg. Omg. Omg omg omg. I got the last issue of Trigun in the mail today. I read it (what little I can understand) and I cried. Really. But afterwards, I didn't feel so sad. Either I've accepted it, or I'm in denial. But really, this was soooo important to me and now it's over! *sighs* All I can do now is attempt to translate it... TT_TT
And afterwards, I had to go outside and water the plants. The irony was unbearable.
I'm alive!!!
I haven't been on in a while... I think. Uh... what the heck have I been doing? No idea.
Oh yeah! I set a personal record for myself by listening to nothing Dir en grey for a whole week. Yes, I declare myself officially insane. I remember when one of my friends burned a CD with Metal music on it and shared it with the rest of us, and we were all like 'meh.' and politely gave it back. And now I'm like OMG Metal ^_____^ Yeah weird what Japanese music can do to my (nonexistant) brain. :P Actually I was going to post this yesterday, but someone *coughmydadcough* crashed the computer. He was burning a CD and decoding some file at the same time. I don't know what caused it, though. You know the dad in Foxtrot who crashes the computer every time he turns it on? He's like that. He uses a PC at work so he's completely clueless with Macs, even though we've had this computer almost two years now. Once he asked me how to move the Safari window over to the left. Come on! It works the same way as my friend's Dell... [/rant, haha.] So I was trying for an hour last night to get it to restart. Have you ever seen a Mac crash? Really ugly! I've actually never seen a PC crash though, go figure -_- But it made all sorts of clicky noises and a whir louder than I knew it could make! scawy... 0_0 I tried all sorts of stuff from this manual we bought like the shift key at startup, or the option key, heck I even tried to get into the Unix window but it didn't work. I was so freaked out and thought I'd lost everything! But! This morning I tried the 'shift key' trick and got it to work! Yay!!!
Did anyone actually read this huge chunk of text? Oh well.
OMG I GOT A KURONEKO HAT!! :D It has whiskers <3
Hehe...
Today was 'crazy hair day' at my school. My friend and I sprayed our hair blue (because we're Legato fans ) and my other friend came to school with pink polka-dots, so I gave her some blue ones, too^^ Then, my other friend wanted streaks so I started doing that, then ran out of hairspray. So she went through the day with one blue streak in her hair! But she and my other Legato-obsessed friend have black hair, so it didn't stand out that well. As for me, my hair changes with the seasons (XD) so right now it's sort of a dark brown. I wanted to take a picture of it but my camera's broken--- actually I just had the idea to take it w/ my mom's cell phone, fufufu... ^_^
Meh, I haven't posted here very much... I ended up posting alot on DeviantArt. The only really interesting thing in my life is how I'm sad I'm not making it into Honors Geometry in 9th grade next year... TT_TT But none of my friends did either, and one has to repeat Algebra... I feel sorry for her... sooo... yeah, that's about it for now.
A Very Interesting Day... 0_0
Event 1: P.E. We were playing hockey on the tennis courts, and 3 of us were playing with a tennis ball (including me), two with a bottle cap, 3 with the actual puck, and one was yelling at us to stop goofing off and play the game. =_=
Event 2: History- My history teacher was singing along with a song on her computer... and dancing... *creeped out* We're all traumatized now.
EVENT 3 EARTHQUAKE ZOMG!!!!!!!
I was performing with a chamber group at a recital at school, and a 8:40 there was a magnitude 4.2 earthquake almost right before we played. I think the most amazing thing is that the kid playing before us didn't even stop. All of us in the other room started talking, then realized we weren't supposed to and went "SHH!", which was actually louder than our talking. -_- I'm still really freaked out right now...
Yay!!!
We got a new keyboard and mouse!! Actually, it was because my dad broke the wireless mouse trying to change the batteries... So now, we have a wired one. At least now, we're not changing batteries every week!
I'm also trying to watch the Oscars at the same time as I'm typing this, so there's a lot of deleting and retyping going on X] Some of those people can be really funny^^
Anyone in Seattle?
(I myself actually live in California TT_TT)
Okay, I'm just wondering if there are any Trigun fans in or near Seattle. Or if you can get there. The reason I'm asking is that Sakura-Con is coming up March 6-8, and Yasuhiro Nightow's gonna be there OMFG! My mom won't let me go, even though it's over spring break, so I thought I'd let you all know. If you're gonna be in the area, please, go in my place!
http://www.sakuracon.org/
Yeah I know that was like one big ad, but I was so excited about this when I found out (and so crushed when I couldn't go...) This would be like a dream come true to me... I hope that anyone who goes has lots of fun!
Happy Chinese New Year!
So, as you may be able to tell by the title, that's what I celebrated yesterday! My mom's whole family got together at my grandmother's apartment to celebrate. We could hear firecrackers but they were a couple blocks over, so we couldn't see anything. Oh, and there was food! My favorite was the chow mein; it was really funny because someone brought tacos as well XD And I got $60!
For those of you who don't know;
This is chow mein--->
And these are 'lai see' which are the red envelopes people put money in^^
Happy Valentines Day, everyone! Today, I got all the strings on my violin replaced and the fine tuners taken off... X_x I'm gonna die in orchestra tomorrow if I'm outta tune. That's the one thing I don't like about my private teacher; she just goes ahead and does something without really asking.
Next subject: How was everyone's Valentine's day? Mine was... ordinary. One of my friends gave me chocolate, though! ^^
