   Geez, you people

Fine, fine, here's the link to the CGA Boards:

CGA Boards

And here's the link to the CGA home page:

CGA Home

You can probably figure out what the CGA is by going to either one of the sites. The cool thing is that it's a legitimate student organization, meaning we get university funding! Hehehe.

I am Oosh.

   CGA Boards operational

Just a quick update, the CGA Boards are working now. They're pretty bare-bones, but they're functional. If you are interested, check them out.

   Vacation

I am going to take a vacation from my MyOtaku for a time. It shouldn't be too long, but long enough to make some big changes.

Those of you who miss Sciros at OB, feel free to AIM me and I'll be happy to sit down for a chat. My AIM screen name is (duh) Sciros Darkblade. Those of you who don't miss me, you know where you can shove it.

DC and Marvel RPG at OB

This OB member Domon is starting a DC/Marvel RPG over at Otakuboards. I signed up (as Batman, obviously), but I have numerous reservations. First of all, the entire premise is 6 villains vs everyone else. Ummm... yah. To do that those 6 villains would have to be Dark Phoenix (M), Onslaught (M), Parallax (DC), Darkseid (DC), Zod (DC), and Tyrant (M). And even they would get their asses handed to them pretty quickly; superheroes are a resourceful bunch.

So we'll see what this guy comes up with. But he's clearly not very familiar with the DCU, which I think can pretty much pwn the "basic" Marvel Universe in terms of firepower. And since the guy's 6-villain team is... what? Joker, Carnage, Dr. Doom, Magneto, etc. I don't know. We'll see. But being Batman's always fun.

   Barrghhh

I forgot my GCN AC adapter and AV cables at my cousin's house in Toronto. Kendo is cancelled for tomorrow. And on top of that I have a cold. Sucks, sucks, sucks.

Tomorrow is my last chance to do New Year's gift shopping, and I'm sick. This is gonna get tricky trying to dodge everyone and leave the house for long enough...

   Christmas Trip

I'm leaving to Toronto to spend Christmas with my cousins. Hopefully the roads will be in better condition tomorrow than they were today (ice rain = everything covered in a layer of ice 1" thick = all trees around town break = disasters; nobody working because it's pre-Christmas Thursday = no roads cleared = disasters; ninjas = disasters). Though I know for sure that it will be damn cold. And I hate cold.

Also we don't celebrate Christmas in the religious sense. But it's an extra holiday and we get a few more days off, so why not take a trip up north? The only thing is my cousins only have X-Box and so that means I'm hauling my GCN up there for some Smash and Mario Tennis, heheh... I can't play Halo 2 and DOAU for *that* long.

Anyway, since I'm leaving for 4 days, that means you'll all get no witty or insightful or abrasive or sarcastic or awesome or Batmannis posts from me on OB for a little while. Just don't panic and assume I'm dead. ...Though if you do, my return will be very cool indeed, so go ahead and assume the worst. Har harharhahahr.

Martial arts in film

Reading the thread on "Hero" at Otakuboards reminds me that most people have virtually zero appreciation for *real* martial arts. Something that demonstrates actual skill. I find Jackie Chan's and Jet Li's and Van Damme's *realistic* fights much more interesting than the wire-assisted crap that's all over the place nowadays.

Honestly I think the last time I saw a real martial arts fight in a film was in Cradle 2 the Grave (and just thinking about that movie kills my brain cells) or Transporter. Why is it that films like Hero and Matrix are liked for the fights when the fights are so fake it hurts to watch? Clearly they do not require real martial artists... Keanu Reeves and Lawrence Fishburne are downright pathetic and untalented with zero skill, and Zhang Ziyi is a dancer not a kung fu practitioner.

Good technique (which Ziyi does have; I'm not bashing *her* for anything really) is just not something people seem to discern or even care about nowadays. I'm sure a large part of why is that almost nobody knows what proper technique really is. Still, it's annoying to me to hear people praising that stuff as if it's anything other than hanging on wires for a while or just plain sucking ass at fighting.

Honestly, what a waste of good martial artists.

   Winter Break

Winter break is upon me! Full time real work, web design (counts as work), grad school applications, Japanese studying, honing my Smash skills, beating KOTOR I and II, Halo II, tons of other games.

I'm so glad I actually have time for all that, heh.

   Sexy Urd

Here is Urd for now. I will of course color her in and make her super sexy. But she's already looking plenty good, don't you agree?

   Drawing Urd

I'm drawing a super sexy picture of Urd right now. It's awesome. I'm trying to see just how sexy her outfit can be and still pass as a "Goddess" outfit rather than something Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo's characters sport ("barbarian wear").

Right now I'm trying to decide whether to make her barefoot (barefoot = sexiness x2), or just wear really sexy shoes. Probably barefoot; Urd of all the goddesses wears shoes the most infrequently.
