Hmm, what to write about?

Other than my distinct lack of motivation.

I'm working on some new site graphics, catch is they're all illustrated by me! This could either turn out kinda cool, or throw me in the dust and trample me. We'll see I guess.

So, my roomate's gone, which gives me a few nights to myself to study with loud music and stuff. Also watch tv. Anyone else notice the new marketing campaign for boardgames are being directed towards adults? It's a pretty good idea, I spose. I dunno about you guys, but I love a good board game. My fav is Trivial Pursuit, of any kind, but I also enjoy a good Monopoly, Stratego and Battleship.

This Shin-Chan show is weird. I probably won't watch it again.

I did watch VH1's top 40 videos of the year. Not really sure why. Fergie was number 1. Oops, spoiler alert. Which was a little weird to me.

Does anyone know the name of that song with the music video where the guy is singing and there's all the animated tears that all the girls are crying and it floods the whole city? I'm a bit stumped on that one.

Hm, what else to talk about? Oh, my roomates are cheap bastards, cause I gave them all christmas presents AND b-day presents on their birthday, and they all left today cause they were done with finals. I didn't get squat. I know I shouldn't be angry cause it's the season of giving and crap, but SCREW THEM. I need some gratification.

So, other than that, I just keep doing work and studying (though not whole-heartedly and with little progress). Last night I actually stayed up really late, like 4 AM or so, working on a paper that turned out to be super crappy anyway. Even Some Guy went to sleep before me. And he's 3 time zones away. It was ridiculous. My sleep patterns are going to be very screwed up.

But I'm excited for Winter break not only cause of christmas, but I'm getting my car fixed, and I'm gonna do some artsy stuff I've been meaning to do, and I'm gonna finish christmas shopping, and there's gonna be movies and cookies and video games. Fun stuff.

So take it easy everyone! Hope your week's going well, and if you're Final-izing like me, good luck!

GIANTS BETTER WIN CAUSE PHILLY EATS IT

Also, I need the Giants to win so I can get ahead in my mom's office pool. Last week was pretty horrible for me.

So, further procrastination in the wake of me not writing two papers I have due Tuesday. Both must be around 10 pages long. But to be fair I'm almost done with one. Haven't started on the Tolstoy Kruetzer Sonata yet. Plus I plan on watching Tin Man at 5. Crap, I need some food, too. Merp. *sigh* And I need a shower. And I need Cincy to win too. And there's alot of things I need. I've also been hopping around theO, leaving cracked comments on people's posts and talkin about Batman and stuff. Personally, I am most proud of the comment I made on SG's blog today. And thanks TimeChaser, I'd like to think that I win forever.

I have several comics in the works, at least one Bleach one, at least one Mario-Sonic one and at least one Bowser one. However, I probably won't be doing any this week because of finals, so if you see any, scold me profusely. Plus, I'd like to wait for my tablet I'm pretty sure I'm getting for X-mas before doing at least the Bleach one.

I also downloaded a bunch of the Vitamin String Quartet covers of songs. My favorites are Smells Like Teen Spirit, Everlong, Wonderwall, Snow (Hey Oh), Face Down, Starlight and Woman, originally by Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Muse and Wolfmother respectively. Anyways, this group's got like 3 alternative rock compilations, and then whole albums for just one band like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Weezer, Oasis, etc. I love it so much. Way better than that Angry String Orchestra cover of Dance Dance I DL'd. But I'm not gonna lie, I like that alot too.

Also picked up the graphic novel Pride of Baghdad this weekend. I know I said I had it at some point, but that was a lie, as it was a gift for someone else, and I read like, a quarter of it. But now I own it myself, and not only is it beautiful to look at, the story is so haunting and compelling, i just keep finding myself re-reading it. So, I highly reccomend it.

If you're at all a fan of graphic novels, pick it up. Also, it's not for kids. One of the many things it features is a giraffe's head exploding.

That's all for now. And wOOt, Bowl Cuts got featured on the Fan Manga page! Also, sorry for the horrible spelling today, I'm using IE without the built in Spell Check.

Take it easy!

December already? Crap, finals are next week!

So first and foremost, a very big thank you for all the birthday wishes, and to others for plugging my birthday on your sites. You guys are great friends.

Secondly, I have some new comics up in the fan manga section both here, and also on my Deviant Art account (link in my profile, there's a button). Two have to do with Pokemon, one with The Birds. Thanks to SomeGuy who plugged my Pokemon one, glad you liked it so much.

So, for my birthday, SomeGuy sent me a WONDERFUL copy of The Seven Samurai, as I've never seen it all the way though, and I do need more "classics" in my DVD collection. Duorocks17 sent me some AWESOME Jin and Mugen shotglasses. Course, I still don't like alcohol a hell of alot, so I don't really plan on drinking from then, but hot damn they are awesome.

For my birthday, my parents gave me an obscene amount of money, so Duorocks17 (and perhaps Schultzie and SomeGuy) are taking a trip to Anime North in Toronto in May, to visit Enin and to have a hell of a time. I got the idea today that we should do a panel for TheOtaku.com, not just walk around like we're the elite members of a super secret club.

Which we are.

Haha, just kidding. Or am I? You'll never know. But this is cool, cause I've never met any of MyO friends, even though Snow Fox literally lived 15 minutes away from me in HS (*hits head* stupid me, stupid me) and Shanny lives across the river. So this will be awesome, I already know.

We plan on cosplaying Legends of the Hidden Temple contestants, as it's a costume everyone can do, and it's realtively cheap. I even plan on making a silver monkey that in photos we will not be able to put together.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKVp-WK4lIU
Worst Attempt at the Shrine of the Silver Monkey EVER. Now you see what I mean.

Also, everyone should go watch the Speed Racer trailer RIGHT NOW. It's amazing. It sounds like a horrible concept (though not quite as horrible as the DBZ movie is shaping up to be), but it really is awesome, and the style is very original. I'd say the Wachowski brothers have a winner judging by what I've seen so far.

Don't believe me? With your foot on the pedal, race towards the end of the Earth, youth is on your side, and go check it out for yourself as your hand-woven scarf flutters in the wind.

Take it easy.

Obligatory Birthday Post!

Someguy was so nice and plugged my birthday on his site, so here's his obligatory post.

I totally had a dream that my roomates together basically gave me a box of pudding cups. I don't even like pudding! I thought they were really cheap. I also told them not to get me a cake cause I wouldn't be here, and one was like "Oh, I assumed we were taking you out..." I thought to myself "Why would you assume that? I never go anywhere with you guys anymore." Anywho...pudding...blech.

Also, it's clear to me that me and Nami-chan shouldn't be on the Internet the night I have a paper due. We wasted away the hours talking about Chinese horoscopes and stuff. I'm year of the tiger (course), and I'm a fire type. My...I dunno, destructive force is Exploding, or PAO! haha. Being born under fire associates me with The South, Summer, Vermillion Bird (phoenix?), the planet Mars, the color RED, circulatory system and heart (does that mean I won't die of a heart attack?), and Dynamic, Humanitarian, Energetic, Passionate, Enterprising, Adventurous, Restless
and "likes a good laugh". That's all true enough. I'm also a Third Trine sign which says:

"The third trine consists of the Tiger, Horse, and Dog. These three signs seek one another, and are like-minded in their pursuit of humanitarian causes. Each is a gifted orator and excels at verbal communication. Relationships and personal contact are of highest priority and each one seek their intimate soul mate. Idealistic and impulsive, the Tiger, Horse and Dog follow the beat of their own drummer. Defiant against injustice, these three signs wilt without large amounts of physical affection and loyal support for causes. They are productive, enthusiastic, independent, engaging, dynamic, and honourable. They can also be rash, rebellious, quarrelsome, hot-headed, reckless, anxious, moody, disagreeable, stubborn, and selfish."

Which is all pretty correct. I think monkeys, rats and dragons were like, the dictator type people, haha, and rabbits sheep and dogs were concerned with the aesthetic and little hippies. Anyways, it's all on Wikipedia. They also do lunar animals and animals by hour, and even talk about the Cat thing. *plugs ears from screaming Kyo fans* Yeah, well, fun stuff.

I also share a birthday with Ed Harris and John Stewart.

ANIME USA 2007-DAY 2

TIME: 8 AM
LOCATION: A DARK HOTEL ROOM

We woke up and began putting on cosplay. Just for the record, red paint gets everywhere. Poo. But it came out pretty well! Here I am cosplaying the Painted Lady from Avatar season 3.

Fuckin hat didn't stay on...

Making our way down to the tail end of the hall costume contest (of which our Toph won 3rd place and a trophy!), we began taking in the sites and other cosplayers of the day.

First time I've seen Starfox cosplayed, and it was pretty sweet.

My friend Aang, who found the cutest little fire nation Aang! Unfortunately, he was more excited firebending than actually standing around for anything or meeting our Aang.

Movin on down the escalator with L...

Majora's Mask cosplay! And they even have a cucco! Awesome! If anyone's friends with these people, tell them sorry I didn't know where the coat check was!

No con is complete without some lightsabers and head-tails.

Oh, uh, SPOILER! Beautiful Midna.

Wheee! Other Avatards! Yue and Suki!

When it comes to playing Children's Card Games, Yugi knows best. There were also two Bandit Kieths. I had a conversation with one, which consisted entirely of us finishing our sentences by yelling "IN AMERICA!" at one another.

Hot Fire Nation Katara was willing to do any pose we asked, as you'll see later.

LOVE those teeth!

This Hallow guy was awesome. Not only did he have like, 3 foot stilts, he also had a mirror in his chest that did a very convincing job of seeming like a hole. At one point I remember seeing him and thinking the mirror actually was a hole, and then thinking there was nothing out of the ordinary about it. I guess that's how much of a Bleach fangirl I am.

I'm not really a .hack person, but I know some of you are, and these costumes were just really well done.

Look at all the Bleachers!

Harley Quinn!

Then came time for the avatar photo shoot. There weren't many of us, but we did the best we could. It turned out pretty well. When others get their pictures up, I'll post them here again. But here are mine.

We're not the kinda people who should be cosplaying children shows, we all decided.

KATAANG!!

Katara Blood Bends!

THESE PICTURES I DID NOT TAKE, AND ARE THE PROPERTY OF THE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHERS. I AM NOT PUTTING THESE UP FOR PERSONAL GAIN. /Disclaimer. Here's some other photos I thought you guys might like to see.

I was actually about 6 feet away getting coffee when this was taken.

These guys won something and their cosplay looked really good.

Bleach Photoshoot.

Don't know what this is from, but it's HELLAGOOD.

Mr. Game & Watch!

Guitar Heroines.

CHA LA! HEAD CHA LA!

The shades just add to the outfit in my opinion.

Naruto photoshoot.

Really creative Okami cosplay.

There was a pirates vs. ninjas dance off. I have no idea who won.

Star Warriors attack the Bleach photoshoot. I love when this kinda thing happens.

After some downtime in the room...

Like I said before, we're not the type of people...

DICE FLAIL!20-D'd!!!

Will you help feed this boy? He has cancer.

TIME: 11 PM
LOCATION:3RD FLOOR IN THE ADULTS ONLY AREA

Time for the Cosplay Dating Game! I've been looking for videos of this all day, but there are none up yet. It's really too bad cause it's funnier that way. But the first round, the contestant was Nekozawa, and the bachelorettes were Riza Hawkeye, Anthy, and Ed. Nekozawa ended up getting both Anthy and Hawkeye and stayed to watch the rest, offering the occasional HILARIOUS comment. Guy was amazing. At the end, a Spike came and picked up Ed and told her he was taking her to dinner. It was so cute.

Round two was Michiru interviewing Aoshi, L, and Zenegata. Zenegata was fuckin HILARIOUS, and was cool enough to hang out with us at the end. "What am I supposed to get you? I can't even find a man in a red coat in France!" Also, Muchiru was accompanied by the rest of the SOS Brigade, who taped the whole thing and kept running on the other side of the screen. At one point Haruhi pushed L's chair over and he fell flat on the floor.

Then was the Yaoi round. Vash interviewd Yumichika, Aang, who was the funniest, one of the clones from FF7 who was pretty good, and some Sora that randomly got in and was pretty much being really anoying the entire con. Very bad acting skills. But Vash didn't put up with it, haha. Vash: "How would you relax me?" Aang: "I'd show you my arrows!" Vash: Choose one word people use to describe you." Aang: "Pantsless!" Vash: "I always feel lonely without my brother. Do you have people you'd invite along?" FF7 Sepiroth Clone Guy: "Well, most of my brothers, sometimes Cloud and Vincent...and I always personally make sure Mother Comes." One thing about the FF7 person, was she was very monotone, but it made her deliverance pretty funny, as everything out of her mouth was sexual innuendo.

After that was downtime, and chillaxing. Tomorrow comes the con wrap-ups, plus Red Rants. I'm also driving home for the break tomorrow. Yaaaay! Take it easy everyone!

ANIME USA-DAY 1

Well, I don't really have the patience to go into quite the story mode like certain Chuck Norris lovers I know, but I'll try my best.

TIME: 12:00 PM
LOCATION: NEWPORT NEWS, VA
DESTINATION: ARLINGTON, VA

Well, my friend and I left from his house around 12 noon. We were stoked. I had just bought the new Dane Cook album to listen to on the way up, had the Sat Rad ready to go, and we entered the freeway and BAM. Traffic! At noon? Very weird. We munched quietly on our Chik-Fil-A sandwiches, and inched slowly along I-64, a two lane freeway that goes from Norfolk VA to Richmond, and some other places. Normally to go from Newport News to Williamsburg is about a 15 minute it drive. It took us 50.

That part's boring. Skipping ahead, 3 hours or so...

TIME: 3:10 PM
LOCATION:CRYSTAL CITY HYATT LOBBY
MOOD: ECSTATIC, BUT ALSO PISSED IT WOULD COST $30 TO PARK MY CAR FOR THE WEEKEND.

We met up with my friend, dodging other uber nerds so we could get the roomkeys, and then we attended her panel "Elitism In Cosplay". Well, her and a few friends. It was very interesting. We talked about what defined elitism, told stories of elitist, and shared personal experience. Basically, a cosplay elitist doesn't have to be a cosplayer themselves. An example would be someone that goes up to a cosplayer and says elitist things that can be negative or positive. Not to be confused with constructive criicism, examples include:

"Wow, that Yu Gi wig is the best I've ever seen."

"I saw another Sora cosplayer, but you're way better than him."

"Your jacket sucks."

"You're the lamest Sakura here."

"Why did you add that accessory? It doesn't fit the cosplay and it looks horrible."

Basically, cosplaying should be a community. However, due to a young age demographic and quite possible immaturity level (I think everyone on this site can attest), cosplaying is seen as a much more competative and combative hobby than it should be. It discourages alot of people from participating or to have what could be really great cosplayers participate because the hostility is too high. We talked about a lot more than I have room to say here, but that's the general idea. Just be aware of the things you and your friends say.

So after the panel, my friends changed into their Sokka and Toph cosplay and we walked around exploring/looking for trouble. Here's what I found!

First pic of the con, a really nice girl I met at the panel cosplaying a character from Trinity Blood. Sorry, I don't know the name.

Woo, Raven!

Edgeworth!

These cosplayers were really good. I was so impressed with the invincible armor especially. It's a really neat idea. There was also a Zora Armor cosplayer which looked great, but unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me when I saw them.

Not sure who they're cosplaying, but they look good.

Pimpin' Urahara. There were A LOT of Kisukes there, but this was the most original one, I thought. I don't have many pictures of Bleach cosplayers or Naruto cosplayers, because there were so many. Sorry bout that.

My friend, Tsunade No Hime over on cosplay.com, sports her Toph outfit (complete with blind contacts) and finds a giant Appa!

Totally took that picture by accident, but so worth it.

The whole Phoenix Wright gang!

Inuyasha fandoms have kind of died out, as is the way of DBZ before it, and Gundam Wing before that. Naruto's next, then Bleach. But this guy had a sweet Sesshomaru happening.

TIME: 8:30 PM
LOCATION: CVS PHARMACY

After dinner at a Thai restaurant, we went to the CVS to pick up some bandages and condoms for Sokka. I'm not sure why he needed the condoms, as he got no action the entire weekend, and is single.

TIME: 11 PM
LOCATION: HOTEL ROOMS

After we returned, we chilled out and got our things read for tomorrow. We were going to bed early, because it'd take us two hours to make Aang's bald cap the next day...

Woo! November!

I love November. Wanna know why?

1. Gingerbread Lattes and Peppermint Mochas

2. Anime Cons Galore

Football gets SERIOUS (both these teams blow, by the way)

4. Roomate angst.

Yes, the last one was a note that appeared next to our bathroom sink after a random rampage of passive agressive notes lately. I submitted it to www.passiveaggressivenotes.com, which is a great site to pass time on by the way, because it's just so ridiculous. I'm so sick of the roomate shit.

My costume's almost ready for AnimeUSA in two days. I have to the props. My body paint never came, so I'm going to a costume store today to get some and also some bald Aang "skin" for my friend and cosplay benefactress who is currently sewing my costume. I also need to glue some hat shit together, but for putting it together a week before the con, it looks alright.

Next year our Avatar group aspires to be season 3 cosplayers. We have an Aang, Zuko, Sokka, Katara, and Toph, and I'll probably be Azula next year. If anyone is going to AUSA, come to the cosplay dating game, as my benefactress is playing Aang in it. There's gonna be alot of "Why am I here? Where am I?" and of course "Where we're going, we don't need pants!"

So true. Anyways, even though it's a year and alot of money away, I'm still excited to be a bad guy. Our group needs a real villain. We only have Zuko the emo anti-hero.

"Good and evil are always at war inside of me. I'm going to go listen to some My Chemical Romance now."

Oh, and everyone must watch Yu Gi Oh the Abridged Series if they haven't already. It's pretty much the most amazing spoof I've ever seen.

Enjoy! And have a great weekend!

Woo

well, I'm at a friend's house, and I can actually read comments here...so I'm pretty sure my problem is something on my browser. I'm supposed to be working on my cosplay for The Painted lady from Avatar, but everyone else is busy at the moment so no one can help me. I had to sneak up to maryland from southern VA and sneak into my house to get my sleeping bag without my parents waking up on the way. It was fun. I'll be back sometime tomorrow, as I drive back to Southern VA. Woot. Later!

Please help...

Ever since I've theO's been back up, I can't view any comment pages or artworks or anything like that. I keep getting the error message "The Connection Was Reset." Please, if anyone can help me, I implore you to send me a message of how to fix it via PM, as I can't view or read or leave comments. I'm using the latest version of Firefox, and this is the only website that this is happening on.

I've also tried writing the Otaku Help people, which didn't do anything. XP
