I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in... 10days!? Man, I'm lazy. T.T I'm sorry... So much for my personal record... -_-

... I know there was something I was meaning to post about... Hm... Can't seem to remember... *goes to previous posts and comments* Oh right. Community Translation and Girls' Day. ^^'

Ok, first about Community Translation. It's a translation class between Japanese and English. We don't really study anything. We just translate community texts, and the teacher tells us what we did wrong. We then try to make our next translation text better. I hope that made sense. ^^' Oh and community texts are... um... stuff for the community. Like information pamphlets you would find in community centres and government-related offices. It could be about the different types of illness going around that we have to be careful of. Or different government supports. Voting information. All the things members of the community need to know for their day-to-day lives. I hope I made sense. If not, ask me where exactly I lost you. And I'll try to improve my explanations. ^^' Oh and I have 2 teachers for this class. One for English-Japanese translations. One for Japanese-English translations. And now they're telling me that I still have to do the Japanese-English translation assignments... So I have one late assignment now... T.T

And now to Girls Day. I don't really know what the Japanese are doing for it now, but I'll tell you what used to happen when I used to live there. ^^' There are these dolls that are displayed prior to Girls' Day, and they have to be taken down as soon as the celebration's over. Here's a pic I found on Wikipedia:

I know the pic's a bit big, but I wanted you guys to look at the detail. ^^ Girls would usually dress up in their kimonos and invite other girls for a party. Boys aren't invited. XP Well, it depends if the girl who's hosting the party wants to allow bboys to come or not. ^^ They're allowed to have some sake too, if the parents say that it's ok. And the reason as to why the display has to be put away as soon as the prty's finished is so that the girl can get married. If the display stays out for too long, then the girl would get married late. Superstitious? Yes, but it gets the house clean. ^^b

The dolls are REALLY expensive. You could probably buy half a brand new car with the money spent to buy the display in the above pic. So the dolls are passed down from generation to generation. And they are said to protect the girls during the celebration. I don't have my own set, since my mum's Turkish. So what I did in my final year of high school was to make my own. (it was also a school project) It's not that good. It's well, pretty crap. But I guess my daughter (if i ever have a daughter) would appreciate it... I hope. ^^'

These dolls are proudly displayed by the front door by my mum... It's been there for years... *sigh* I guess I'll never get married... T.T

Hm... That should be everything. ^^ If not, sorry. ^^' Oh right, I was going to post a pic of me and my first cat... Well, the post's really long now, so next time. ^^
