   Evil vs. E-vile
Today was a very sad day. A senior at my school died of an allergic reaction. A lot of people I know were very close to him, so would you have them in your thoughts, please?

But I had a fun post idea for today, so here goes.

I have recently learned the difference between 'Evil' and 'E-vile.' When a villain is evil, they are often more interesting to watch than the hero. They are complex, creepy, and a lot of fun to watch. But when a villain is e-vile, they are boring, contemptible, or just plain annoying. So here's a little analysis on some anime villains. Enjoy!

------------------------
Exhibit A: Nakago (Fushigi Yuugi)
The Good- To be fair, Nakago is a bit of a bishie. Not just a bishie, a blonde bishie. Plus he's out to kill Miaka, which, in some respects, makes him the hero of the show. And now that I've seen the rest, I suppose he's a bit less boring.
The Bad- He's so boring! I can't watch all the evil plotting scenes, because I just want to tear my hair out in frustration and scream 'Get on with the evil!' And he's got that calm, deadpan personality. Pshaw. Any villain can do that.
Unnatural Villain Hair Color- This crazy golden blonde.
Over-the-Top Villain Line- "Don't waste your childish emotions on me."
Conclusion- E-vile. Bishie-ness alone doesn't make up for being a boring villain. Plus he's indirectly responsible for killing my favorite character. How? I don't know.

Exhibit #B- Dilandau Albatou (Escaflowne)
The Good- This guy is nuts. And I mean NUTS. Totally over the top insane. He's my favorite character in the show, and he's the most compelling one onscreen. He sets just about every town in the show on fire, kicks around his subordinates, and laughs maniacally. Plus, he's a prettyboy. Case closed.
The Bad- If you've seen the last episode, I think you know what I want to say here. But to not spoil the surprise, I'll keep my mouth shut.
Unnatural Villain Hair Color- Silvery-white
Over-the-Top Villain Line- "The city's burning because you're in it!"
Conclusion- Evil. He's one of my favorite anime characters of all time. Totally glompable.

Exhibit C: Legato Bluesummers (Trigun)
The Good- If there ever was a bish of a villain, it's ol' Legato. Easily the coolest character, he quadruples the body count of the series in just a single episode without even picking up a gun. But he's still polite, and kind to children. Awwwwwww.
The Bad- He's a glutton, a hand-licker, and he let's himself be kicked around by Knives. Stand up for yourself, man!
Unnatural Villain Hair Color- Blue.
Over-the-Top Villain Line- "However, this is not an act of mercy. It is simply to teach you the pain of living."
Conclusion- Evil. Whenever he's on, the show gets so much better.

Exhibit D: Akito Sohma (Fruits Basket)
The Good- He's so... ELEGANT! He makes being an invalid 19-20something year old in a pink yukata look sooooo good. And he has the coolest Japanese voice, even if the dub sucks.
The Bad- He's single-handedly scarred everyone on the show, beat up half the girls, deprived everyone from having a life/love, all because he was bitter. That's pathetic, dude.
Unnatural Villain Hair Color- Purple-black.
Over-the-Top Villain Line- "You will regret it. I will make you regret ever becoming involved with the Sohmas!"
Conclusion- Undecided. He's got plenty of e-vile characteristics, but he's still interesting to watch. Hm.

Exhibit E: Naraku (Inuyasha)
The Good- He has minions. *Nods* Minions are good. Plus he killed Kikyo. Beck does not like Kikyo, no she does not.
The Bad- Bo-ring. I usually fast forward through his scenes. He lacks bish-ness, and he has a spider burn mark. I hate spiders. *Shiver* Plus he's a bastard, and not in the cool way even.
Unnatural Villain Hair Color- Black, pretty much.
Over-the-Top Villain Line- "We share the same goal. To kill InuYasha." (See why he's so boring? Ugh.)
Conclusion- E-vile. No two ways about it.

----------

I'm off. If you want me to analyze your favorite villain, pray tell who! Unless I haven't seen the series, mehr.

Bye! Have a good day!
