Ow.
Sorry I haven't been around lately. Was very busy in the past few weeks... aaaand I got all four of my wisdom teeth out yesterday.

Went to the hospital around 8:30. Didn't end up taking the Xanax after all 'cause I felt pretty calm anyway. Go me. ^_^ There was less waiting around than I expected, mostly because I had to do an exam beforehand and whatnot. Was in the waiting room for a while, then I moved to another waiting room for us outpatient-surgery kids. And the gayest Disney show in the world was on TV. There were a bunch of guys in bright, skintight sweaters dancing and singing, and little kids in matching sweaters and pirate outfits. And then it was animated. And then it was live-action again. I think it was called "The Wiggles."

So anyway, then they gave me a loritab, and "happy juice." I get on the gurney and the anaesthesiologist comes and talks to me. Says they'll put me to sleep before the needle goes in, and offers flavored laughing gas. I picked cherry. But I really didn't need to, because in the middle of talking to the surgeon, I woke up in the recovery room.

Although apparently, I was still awake when Mom left, because she said the nurse asked for my birthday, and I looked at her blankly and said, "Birthday?" That happy juice is some good stuff. I should've watched more of the Wiggles after I took it. Once I realized it was, in fact, over, I started trying to read the clock with my fun double-vision. Then when I managed to ask the doctor with a ton of gauze in my mouth, he said I was more alert than most people. Yay?

Then I got wheeled into this curtained room with my mom, and they put some anti-nausea meds in my IV and took out the gauze. I stopped bleeding really quickly, apparently. Double yay! I stayed there about fifteen minutes trying to get back to sleep, but the screaming babies were making that a bit difficult... so I convinced the nurses I was well enough to leave. Sitting up has never been that hard. *laughs*

Finally, after taking my temperature about three times ("Stick it under your tongue, honey." "I don't know where my tongue is!") they had Mom go down and bring the car around and wheeled me downstairs. Which was more difficult than it sounds, considering the elevator hated us. As soon as we reached the bottom floor, she started to wheel me around... and it closed and went to the top again.

Didn't start feeling nauseous 'til we got home again. Actually, outside home, to be more precise. But after we got inside, got to sleep on the couch for about two hours... until Dad and his friend Glen came home. Now, I've known Glen since I was, like, five, but that didn't make it any more comfortable, so I moved into my room. After emptying the contents of my stomach. (Note to self: if you're going to eat anything, eat before the Vicodin, not after.) After sleeping until about 6:00 PM, I moved back to the sofa and tried to watch some House. Which was difficult, because the first disc was scratched to hell and I couldn't get one episode to work all the way through. And by the time I put the second disc in, Dad and Glen were drinking more and more wine and laughing and talking over the TV. Not only that, but they asked me rather loud questions during Lost, and often the same ones over and over. *facepalms*

I may be being a grouch, but I don't recall inviting my friends over after my dad's shoulder surgery to talk loudly where he was trying to relax. Or laughed at him. Yes, I'm sure I'd be in on the joke if it didn't hurt to talk.

Vicodin not working as well as I thought it would. It's already made me sick twice. And I know it only works for four hours, but what good does that do if it doesn't kick in for 45 minutes? And I took one at 7:00 AM, and it never did kick in. Also, my throat hurts (from the breathing tube), and my left arm and abdomen, for some weird reason. All in all, ow. Local anaesthesia? I miss you.

Must go curl up somewhere QUIET now. Later~

I am Beck. Watch me rant.
My doctor's bedside manner blows. Like, a lot.

So I went to my pre-op checkup for the wisdom teeth yesterday, everything goes pretty much fine. I was one of three patients in the waiting room, so we got in really fast. Then Dr. Miller's like, "Oh, since they're putting you under, we need to do a blood test to show that you're not anemic," and schedules the test for Monday. And some of you know that I'm absolutely, irrationally terrified of needles, so I started getting a little worked up (but really? Not THAT worked up at all), and he says to my dad, "Is she seeing a counselor for these problems?"

And while I'm trying my hardest not to give him the WTF look, Dad's talking like I'm like this every time something medical is mentioned, and he just doesn't know what's WRONG with me. He even tells the doctor they can't say "the b-word" in front of me. At which point I wanted to remind him that I'm taking AP Biology, where I hear worse things every day, and just asked him the other day to describe the process of stitching a wound for writing-related purposes... not to mention my favorite shows tend to be crime dramas. *grins* I have no problems at all with the word BLOOD. I just have a problem with someone shoving a needle into my vein and sucking it out. Savvy?

Mom gets there a bit later, and is slightly more understanding when it comes to the idiocy (but takes the time anyway to nag me about using the Crest Whitestrips she bought for me. Ay. @__@) The nurse was probably the nicest about it. Have decided that I love nurses.

But really, every doctor that I tell I'm afraid of needles acts like they've never seen anything like me before, or it can't be that bad because I'm not screaming or anything. When I told my oral surgeon, he responded by giving me a graphic description of the teeth-pulling process. The nurse who gave me my hep-B inoculation talked and talked about her neighbor who was just like me until my mom had to ask her to give me the shot. *laughs* So I'm used to people sort of not knowing what to do with me... but therapy? Bitch, please.

I'm getting this done on Monday, and just to show 'em, I'm not going to be bothered at all. Then again, I will also have a Xanax, but SHHHHHH. *grins*

So, what are everyone's plans for this weekend? ^_^

HUNGRY.
I have this theory that school punctures a hole in my stomach. Because no matter how much I eat afterwards, I'm always still hungry.

At least I'm gorging myself on rice cakes? *grins*

Heh, I don't really need to lose weight, but I do need to get in shape... or at least some semblance of it. I don't have enough energy for the day, and I'm always getting colds. Dad got me a yoga mat and DVD for Christmas, but I haven't really tried it out yet. I really should.

Although I probably won't need exercise when I get to Brandeis... the whole campus is made up of hills, I swear.

Well, must go write a historical fiction story for writing class... hope everyone had a good Monday!

Happy New Year, everyone!
Yay, 2006. And I am absolutely dead tired. *grins* I slept waaaaaay too long this morning.

I'll post properly when I'm less asleep.

EDIT: Ugh. To leave comments, I have to turn off the firewall on everyone's user ID, not just my own. And Mom's is password protected. *frowns* How annoying.

   Do-de-do-de-do...
My shoutbox is so WEIRD. o_O It won't let me post in it... ah well.

So, now time to actually post! I haven't been doing much in the past few months... well, I've been doing a lot, but not much of interest? Mostly just trying to get through senior year alive. (My teachers? CRAZY.) As a few of you know, I'm a creative writing major at an arts' high school, and due to our new, senile department head, the senior writers are pretty much running the department. Me especially. x__x

I've been doing TONS of writing lately. Some poetry here and there, a little cowriting (which I love), and the biggest project: a suspense novel that I've been working on since September. I've written about twelve chapters out of a planned twenty-three or twenty-four, and I'm having an AWESOME time with it. I do wish I could draw my characters though. *pouts* I'm also getting a lot of my writing ready for a big portfolio contest in January, which has a huge money prize. And I really need that prize, because...

I got into Brandeis University, my first choice college on Monday with a $15,000 scholarship, and about $5,000 in loans. ^__^ This leaves about $10,000 to pay, plus I'm gonna be broke for the next decade or so. But God, it's so worth it. I'm incredibly excited.

Mew, having sent off all my cards, now I have to write fanfic gifts for several people, and wrap my parents' gifts. And maybe knock off a little of the break homework. >_< Hope everyone is having a kickass holiday!

A few quick things while I procrastinate.
- In case any of you HAVEN'T heard, the PPTs (and Aurus) have started a THAT site. That way, we can keep track of everyone, and actually... you know, do things. ^_^ So do head on over there (myO username is simply: that), and, those of you who are artistically talented (which is many, I know!) enter the avi contest!

- Don't you guys just LOVE what Shanny did with my site? *grins* Well, so do I. Although I know she still wants to do something with my shoutbox color... and I don't trust myself to do it! *laughs* But thank you again, Shanny, it's positively mahvelous!

- You all better be reading SomeGuy's latest installment of Cream and Nougat! SG, lovin' the story so far, dear.

- I'm thinking of posting some of my poetry here, since I've been uber-creative lately... but I'm self-conscious and cowardly. *sheepish* Besides, don't know if any of you are huge poetry people.

- I'm going to an anime convention this weekend! YATTA!

Love you all~
