Today does not exist!
I mean, seriously... I should have tried to talk my way out of going into work today because today doesn't technically exist. It's all good though, because work was slow. Wanna know why? It was a freakin' blizzard again. Stupid snow is even getting on my nerves. Pfft.
Version Vibrant launches tomorrow! That has me so excited! Well, I'm excited, a tad nervous and concerned. Then again, it may take most of tomorrow evening for me to figure out all of the new site features.
Remember how last post I thought I was going to cosplay 003 from Cyborg 009? Well, I think I'm switching it to Yomiko Readman from R.O.D., just to be safe. I mean, I am pretty much a rookie at this.
Wednesday was an interesting day. After some spiffy entries into the English Files and the Journalism notes, I had been all geared up to go to Intro to Japan. Sure enough, I get there and two of my female classmates (who missed the past two class periods) tell me there's no class. Sure enough, there was a note on the door that said the teachre wouldn't be there, so we headed over to the student lounge and I handed over my notes for the week in exchange for a hot cocoa. Apparently, the original people they got the notes from took "shit for notes", so I had a fun time interperting what my scribbles meant and according to my classmates, I should teach the class... or at least tutor for it. That made me feel so good. ^_^ Then I got to talk with my film teacher from last semester about some stuff I wrote, which was good for my ego too.
I'm excited about the future at fanfiction.net, for they just added this new feature called "Beta Reader", which is perfect for me. See, I want to work on my editing skills, so if I edit other people's stuff, that should help my own ability as well. Now comes the task of actually registering myself for all the categories I know I can edit for. I am surprised though that there's only 22 readers for One Piece so far, while Bleach has 103 and Naruto 243. I realize the latter two are more popular, but I never knew that much more popular. *shrugs* Oh well. Whatever.
Oh, on the fourth of March, Blood+ is coming out on DVD, so says my latest issue of Anime Insider. It also said that there was going to be a 25 episode box set to start with. I'm thinking I'm pouncing on that box. ^_^ Now I need to await that, and Fairy Tail, which debuts next month. I'm pumped for next month.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Allamorph: I love you as a friend even more now. I come from a middle-class area and it seemed like over half of my classmates were trying to dress like they were from "da hood" at any given time, because they thought it looked cool. We had kids bused in from inner Detroit who didn't even dress like that, but here you've got a school full of some of the whitest, most obnoxious posers you've ever seen... and they thought the were happening. Anyone who dresses like that, in my opinion, just looks like uncultured, idiotic, no good trash. I know it's not right to judge someone by apperance, but to some degree, how you dress can ultimately reflect your character. No matter how rich--or poor--someone is, dressing like you're from "da hood", when you can dress otherwise, looks tacky and awful. I bet we'll both be glad when that trend is over with. Oh... and in One Piece, Ace is dying.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Okay. Yeah. I'll just go now. Later.
EDIT: So I'm going through the beta-readers categories on the ff.net, and I seem to actually be the only beta-reader for several categories so far. I know after a while, the Speed Racer category's gonna skyrocket, but someone else has to join me in the other categories sooner or later. I mean, come on... there's got to be someone else out there who likes Kappa Mikey and Thundercats. Yeesh. Comments (2) |

A long, rather uneventful post...
It's snowing... again. Nature seriously needs to make up its mind. It snows, then melts, then snows, then melts and turns into ice. It's starting to really tick me off. *grouch* I can handle snow... all I need is for the snow to just stay. I forget, what did that stupid giant rodent predict? Pfft.
Oh, I apparently have an "annoying deck" according to people who I play YuGiOh with. 90 percent classic cards, no real theme and I still can fend off the insane Crystal Beasts and Magicians. I'm still scared of my one friend's remove-from-play deck. It's ominous.
So one of my friends asked me to go to Youmacon with him this year (Oct. 30th-Nov. 1st) and really wants me to cosplay somthing, since he's going as Toshiro Hitsugaya from Bleach. I'm leaning on trying to cosplay 003 from Cyborg 009, but I'm not sure. *shrugs* Are there any pieces of advice/suggestions out there? If so, they would be most appreciated.
Yesterday was an interesting day. I was minding my own business during my break when I catch some movement outside the building. Of course, it was at least twenty degrees Farenheit warmer yesterday, so it did not seem totally unusual that there was a bunch of people outside. It bothered me though that they were all gathered around the building's front steps... in a circle. In my personal experience, circles mean fights and fights are never good.
Being the curious person I am, I went to go investigate. Sure enough, it looked like a fight (or the start of one) on the surface. I watched for a couple minutes and discovered that it was actually a ritualistic preformance known as a "dance-off". It looked really bad at first glance, because the contestants consisted of about seven black guys who were obviously trying for "da hood" look, as well as an extremely white prep-jock who had cocked his University of Michigan hat sideways to be more "gangsta" (and I can assume most would recognize the potential misinterpertation of this scene). I could tell that they were just having some fun, so after a little while I just went back to playing cards and told myself that if the white kid wasn't done by the time him and I had to head towards Intro to Japan, I'd call him out on it.
Sure enough, no one was there next time I looked.
Prep-jock Boy wasn't in Intro to Japan either. It has me puzzled. I'm wondering if the campus police broke it up and made them all leave. It would be sad if that's what happened. Campus police and other officials tend to be kinda uptight at my college, for some odd reason.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Timechaser: I respect your parents, being with those little rascals all the time. I know that if I ever had to become a teacher, I'd take the easy way out and teach upper high school or college. Elementary students are just large swarms of annoying and I have come to believe that half of all middle-schoolers are either emo or assholes... or a combination. The only reason any of them like me, apparently, is because I give them candy. -.-'
Allamorph: I suggesting going to FictionPress for all of your original story needs. I've never browsed extensively on there, but have heard multiple accouncts of how it is fun. I don't normally post original stuff on the internets, so I couldn't tell ya my personal experiences. Actually, the epitome of fun to me is often finding how un-original some authors can be. Take The Inheritance Cycle for instance. Some find it annoying; I find it hilarious. It's just one of those things, I guess.
Miss Anonymous: My Oma is always worth being broke over. It's been six weeks and a day and she can walk at almost normal pace without her cane now. I think Pokemon's been popping up everywhere due to the recent hype it's been getting from the Cartoon Network. Don't tell anyone, but I'm trying to level my Dratini. ^_~
Reaper16: I already talked to you... didn't I? *checks mailbox* Yeah. Okay, we're cool now.
First graders are little embodiments of the Devil...
Just trust me. They are. @.@ I had to substitute teach during church school a room full of 'em and those rascals were out of control. At least I got them to sing their stupid song. Feh. One more reason for me to "teach" kindergarten. It's all coloring for my grade. ^_^
My brothers have next week off, the buggers. They were teasing me about how now that I'm in college, my school breaks are off kilter compared to theirs. I retorted by mentioning how I've got every Friday off. They glared at me. ^_^ I love irritating them sometimes.
Speaking of the possibly irritating...
My youngest brother can sing parts of it. It's incredible. I was originally exposed to it through my Intro to Japan professor on Wednesday. He's silly.
I feel so awful. I haven't been trolling on the internet. Mainly, I just read manga... or fanfiction. I haven't actually written anything in a few weeks. It's saddening. Hopefully the Chopper plushie I bought kicks in as a new muse soon.
I have "Mushroom Hunting" by the Seatbelts stuck in my brain. o_o
So for Valentine's Day, I celebrated in style. I played Magic with the guys at school and then took my mom and oma out to lunch. It was the first time in a long time Oma's been out of the house other than a doctor's visit and her escapade to the local grocery store. She had a double knee replacement in mid-January, so she's been needing to use cumbersome contraptions such as a walker and now a cane. I'm telling you though, for her to be out of the hospital, using a cane and now to the point of almost not needing it... after only a month... the woman deserves to be treated to lunch. So we all went to a deli where there was free pickles and had burgers. I paid. I was almost instantly broke. Pfft.
So I survived work without the superior. It was an interesting ordeal. I can't remember most of it at the moment. Today's surviving skills came to me via a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Blue. I curse Koga's Wheezing to the depths of PokeHell! I need to wail on some bikers now to get my spirits up... and my team's stats. I've got a lame fire-oriented team. Once I evolve my Eevee, I'll have... *counts on fingers* ...four out of six pokemon as fire-based. It's kinda funny, since my Pikachu is named Ener and my Vulpix is named Wiper. Two sworn enemies... on the same team. *weak laugh*
Alright, seriously... is it really that strange for a female to be playing Magic the Gathering and YuGiOh? For some reason, there is always a guy who every once in a while comes over from the college's other campus in order to kick our asses in card games and is in mild shock/amusement that I play both games. The real kicker is that I don't play because I've got a boyfriend that does. (Then I get stared at again for not having a boyfriend, but that's another story entirely.) I know females sometimes aren't as geeky as to go after trading card games, but I don't understand why it would seriously be that incredible. Luckily, I have yet to recieve a bad reaction. I think once I stop hearing "I love this school" being shouted, I'll start to worry.

Comment Replies
Allamorph: My main websites are theO/myO, fanfiction.net, deviantART.com, onemanga.com, Toonami Jetstream and Wikipedia. I can spend hours on the internet just wandering those sites. Sometimes, I don't even know what I'm doing though. I'll be sitting there and all of a sudden... *oh* Why am I here again? Yeah. *rolls eyes* Hey, I learned hypercubes while in the public education system. I learned more (and more effectively) from the public education system than I did from the private system.
Exotahu4: Really, most of us are proficent in both Magic and YuGiOh, sometimes Pokemon. I think you would like to duel the one guy we've got in YuGiOh. He makes overkill decks in less than an hour that flatten anyone who stands in his way, including remove-from-play, samurai and cyber dragons. I try to play both games, only because I think they're interesting.
Timechaser: Sometimes, I believe that my old high school cultivates a special breed of idiot. Partially booksmart, as to decieve, then totally lacking in common sense when put into the real world. Many are nice during school, don't get me wrong, but the stupidity is mind-boggling. I blame Barney the Dinosaur. For my youngest brother's generation, I blame the fact Cookie Monster doesn't eat cookies anymore and an over-exposure to Spongebob.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Something tells me I should leave the internets alone now. Whatever.
Random late night posting...
...while I'm reading manga. I know I haven't been going to other's sites recently. I will, trust me, but right now, work just drained me and after this, it might be all I can do to just click the mouse for a while.
Oh, guess what!?! My middle brother has this cough that sounds like the Everlasting Gobstopper Machine from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! It's amazing. I can hear him in the basement. I don't know why he's down there if he's got a cough, but whatever. *shrugs* He's a big boy and can take care of himself.
Speaking of... I have semi-hilarious news. There was a snow day for my local public school district on Thursday. Being that there was a lack of things to do, there was a trio of junior boys who decided that they were going to play "robbers" and harass other kids. They robbed at realistic-gun-point (I have to give it to them for using a spray-painted toy) five kids, including an eight-year-old and a family friend who is the nicest kid in the world but was already full of jitters. Why do dumb-shits have to do stuff like this? It only brings down the overall intelligence level of wherever they're from. This is why sometimes, I never really did like some of my classmates. Some were just total retards.
So I was training new-new person yesterday. Jeezum crowe, it was bad. I don't think she had been trained at all when she was being harassed on day-shift. I basically had to teach her near everything. I got carried away though and we ended up being late, but I guess it was okay because the manager wasn't yelling or anything. It's a good thing new-new person seems like she's got a brain in her head, otherwise it would be a waste. Then new person (who worked with me tonight) liked to complain, so it seemed. *sigh* Of all the times for my superior to take a vacation to Arizona. Murh.
So I now have a proper deck box for my Yu-Gi-Oh deck and the orochi/wurm/spider MtG deck my one brother's loaning me. It's so nice now that I'm back into the swing of playing trading card games. Now if I'm ever late to Intro to Japan, I can give the excuse that "I was playing Magic with God, Jesus and an Asian man", which my professor would totally understand. Last Wednesday, he brought in some Japanese games to show us, inluding Go. He filled in the blanks Hikaru no Go left in my brain on the gameplay. Unfortunately, only my brain had those blanks. My classmates are all still confused. Oh well.
Timechaser: It's okay, you don't have to understand Bo-bo-bo. I guess it's just one of those hit-or-miss things. Sure thing, I'll stay frosty--just as long as you stay botanical.
Allamorph: Spongebob is crap, but there are many things in Bo^7 that I understand that my Spongebob-loving brother doesn't, so it's all good. I go to community college and live at home, so all I've got is the trusty home connection that is always in danger of being occupied. I need a laptop, badly. Oh jeezum crowe, tesseracts. My friend drilled me in hypercubes/tesseracts when I was a high school freshman, so four years is a bit long for me to remember fully all that math. I think the form is correct... maybe. Hm, I still need to write my friend about that.
dramaqueenisback: Uh... thanks?
Miss Anonymous: I will agree with you that Bo^7 is best in small doses, but I can't help watching an entire episode now and then. I'm trying to remember now if it was on that show that I heard a joke about the Detroit Lions going to the Super Bowl or if that was one of the rare occasions of me watching Zatch Bell. All I recall is I laughed quite hard and a few of my brain cells died. Uh, I'll try not to get sick, but with all the cold and snow that's outside my door, I dunno. *shifty eyes*
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Alright, I'm gonna go now. I've got to finish the load of laundry I left in the washing machine. Later.
New fanart categories are strange...
You know, one would think that the Mod Staff could be a smidgeon kinder when dealing with people's out-of-category drawings that were made years before the new and improved categories. I just got what was probably my twentieth PM about modification because I failed to put all my "Fan Characters" in the category. Pfft. Whatever.
See Alla-san? I'm updating. ^_^ I haven't been updating because I was sick--so sick I had a fever of 101.2 Farenheit last Monday, which was ultra-evil because I've got a lower body temperature to begin with. Needless to say, I slept a lot.
So today I earned major Brownie Points with the math professor by talking to him about how simple three-dimensional graphing is, hypercubes, and then actually holding my own when he brought up the fourth dimension of time. His face lit up. It was incredible. Shame I had to get a 52% on the test on line equations I took in there Thursday. There are just some days where I am totally math-illiterate, so much so that it's cruel. I need to find my TI-83+, like, now.
Oh, yesterday, one of my classmates in Intro to Japan and I were trying to discuss the entertainment quality of Bo-bo-bo Bo-bo Bo-bo. It was epic, especially since no one else in the room understood. I had to explain it to the people sitting in front of me. Apparently, few find humor in a martial arts focusing on the power of one's nosril hair. Maybe I'm just easily amused or something. I can't wait until tomorrow's class. We get to play go and shogi. I love having a geeky professor.
So I've been reading JoJo's Bizarre Adventure lately and now I realize why the English translation begins where it does. There's some wicked bits of violence already, and I'm just on the fourteenth chapter. Burning live dogs, vampirism, slicing skulls and hands clean open... oh, it's great fun. Plus, you can't go wrong with late ninteenth century England. It makes me smile. ^_^ Oh, and the third chapter of Embalming's finally out. That made me happy too. Man, I'm getting too much into the horror genre. Hopefully I don't induce nightmares.
Soon, I gotta go to work. Today is the only day I work this week where I am not "in charge" of the deli. See, tomorrow, the technical "deli night shift manager" is going on a vacation that's been planned since the summer. Since I'm next in line senority-wise, that makes me night manager by default until she comes back on Sunday. To top it all off, there was another firing last week with a quick hiring, so I've got two newbies now and I'm the only one who knows how to work the rotisserie (?did I spell that right?) while Night Shift #1's away. Needless to say, I'm the closer three out of four times this week once I'm in charge. It's a rather frightening thought.

Comments on Comments?:
timechaser: I wish I hadn't slept through math multiple times now. It really bites. I probably would have been able to tell if the milk was spoiled. We drink a ton of milk at my house, so it hardly ever goes bad anyways. I'll keep an eye out for that PM and yes... that is one pampered bicycle.
Allamorph: Eh, I think my school's run by some sect of Nazis sometimes. I can't really get on a computer without some sort of photo identification, which is something I currently lack. (A computer class would've worked too, but alas.) I would be all over spending a good chunk of my four and a half hour break on Mondays on theO, but I guess that's what the midnight hours are for. Your nerd comment wins... for now.
Miss Anonymous: Can you believe I couldn't spell "anonymous" until I met you? Anyways, yeah, I provide links so people don't just think I'm making things up. I've got the remembering thing still in the works, so I like having concrete backup for things I say.
Rawr!
So My youngest brother is home sick with an undeterminable bout of the throw-ups. Lucky for me, he slept most of the morning and left me alone. It's a pattern that hopefully stays the same now that he's awake. He better not want my ravioli.
News from Intro to Japan: I made the ultimate nerd comment. We were looking at a computer slideshow my teacher conjured for us and he happened to show a photograph of Fujimura Shinichi, perpertraitor of the Japanese Paleolithic Hoax, planting one of his archaeological "finds". Of course, I answer quite quickly after the laughter dies down with "He rolled a one for Stealth." I'm wondering how many people besides my teacher thought that to be hilarious. Oh well. *shrugs* Everyone else in the room is fascinated with Google Earth to care, I bet.
I so totally skipped math yesterday. I was waiting for class to start by sleeping in the student lounge. I woke up pretty close to class time and went right back to sleep. I almost slept through class it was incredible.
*takes a drink of milk* Aw, nuts. My milk tastes funny. If my milk tastes funny and is still in date, that means I'm sick. This bites. I can't afford to be sick.
I adore the podcast comment spam. ^_^ It's so much fun and I want to participate in it more, but I've already said how work and school kind of prevent that.
*Mail Douche starts shouting in my door*
Why must my mailman be such an idiot? It hurts. Anyways, so I was listening to the podcast this morning and was thrown off-balance by the features that were being thrown at me. I'm wondering what it will really be like once Version Vibrant launches.
People are funny...
Yeah. They just are. It's a long, long story that involves having to go to school today. *grins*
So in my "Introduction to Japan" class, I've been finding key objects, people and concepts that I have been previously been exposed to through anime. For instance, tomoe (a common symbol), Orochi (a snake credited by my professor as the first version of Godzilla) and magatama (which I previously thought were fangs or something) are all in different anime/manga I've seen. I'm also coming up with this theory as to why Naruto is so popular in Japan. Too bad once I incorporate non-Asians into the mix, the hypothesis is doomed.
Speaking of manga, I finished reading Eyeshield 21. I have no clue as to why I am so drawn into this manga. I need to finish watching the anime on Jetstream. Nurh. Maybe it's the fact that the series is about American Rules Football, which in my eyes is a spectacular game.
The training of the new person has been a success. Tonight is her first night of closing, so I'm wondering how she'll do. I, of course, don't have to work until Thursday, which is going to suck because I'll be the ultimate in slow.
Another Intro to Japan story. We were talking about the films of the weekend, right? So, it morphs into talking about Astro Boy being made into a movie, then Speed Racer (where I was quite giddy, being I adore the trailer despite the YouTube quality of the trailer I've seen) and then finally, I mentioned the Dragonball Z movie that they're pretending to film right now. My professor's face fell. It was amazing. I think it almost beat us teasing him for his left-handed scrawling of the hirigana character no, but that was priceless.
. . .
I feel kind of awkward now. I'll go wander now. Later.
EDIT: I've had some problems with linkage. Sorry 'bout that. Comments (3) |

One resolution bites the dust...
...like I told Alla-san, super-secret resolution #11 is to make sure at least three of my New Year's Resolutions happen, because we all know how much I suck at them normally.
Other than that, there hasn't been anything too exciting or pressing going on. I started my new semester at college. My class on Japan does not have a section on language, so I'm guessing I'll have to work on reading kana by myself. We have a new person at work who they're leaving me to help train. This woman's, like, late fifties and being trained by an eightteen-year-old. I feel inheritedly evil for some reason about that.
Then, today, I was playing a three-way Yugioh duel with two friends and the one ticked me off so bad, I forgot which finger to point at him. I was so mad, I can't even remember the card anymore. I've got this mostly basic dark/fire/life point deck I play, but he's got mostly new cards that I've never heard of before. The card that made me angry today let him basically play card-roulette on a Standby phase, trying to guess which kind of card it was. If he was right, I got poked out of 700 Life Points. It hurt, because he was always right. At least I didn't make the mistake of playing the only other girl that plays Yugioh. Her Cloudian deck literally obliterates. I guess the good part is that at least everyone is understanding of the fact I have about a pack worth's of cards outside an original starter deck or booster pack, plus haven't played for years.
Final note: Eyeshield 21 is strangely addictive. To kill my boredom, I've been reading it while waiting for a new Shonen Jump to come out. It's rather fun, since I knew the rules and roughly how Japanese people normally grasp "Amefuto". It's just the ultimate win.
