part of the book the wizards first rule
since ive been obsesing over my book, im putting up part of the first book: Wizard's First Rule

It was an odd-looking vine. Dusky variegated leaves hunkered against a stem that wound in a stranglehold around the smooth trunk of a balsam fir. Sap drooled down the wounded bark, and dry limbs slumped, making it look as if the tree were trying to voice a moan into the cool, damp morning air. Pods stuck out from the vine here and there along its length, almost seeming to look warily about for witnesses.
It was the smell that had first caught his attention, a smell like the decomposition of something that had been wholly unsavory even in life. Richard combed his fingers through his thick hair as his mind lifted out of the fog of despair, coming into focus upon seeing the vine. He scanned for others, but saw none. Everything else looked normal. The maples of the upper Ven Forest were already tinged with crimson, proudly showing off their new mantle in the light breeze. With nights getting colder, it wouldn't be long before their cousins down in the Hartland Woods joined them. The oaks, being the last to surrender to the season, still stoically wore their dark green coats.
Having spent most his life in the woods, Richard knew all the plants -- if not by name, by sight. From when Richard was very small, his friend Zedd had taken him along, hunting for special herbs. He had shown Richard which ones to look for, where they grew and why, and put names to everything they saw. Many times they just talked, the old man always treating him as an equal, asking as much as he answered. Zedd had sparked Richard's hunger to learn, to know.
This vine, though, he had seen only once before, and it wasn't in the woods. He had found a sprig of it at his father's house, in the blue clay jar Richard had made when he was a boy. His father had been a trader and had traveled often, looking for the chance exotic or rare item. People of means had often sought him out, interested in what he might have turned up. It seemed to be the looking, more than the finding, that he had liked, as he had always been happy to part with his latest discovery so he could be off after the next.
From a young age, Richard had liked to spend time with Zedd while his father was away. Richard's brother, Michael, was a few years older, and having no interest in the woods, or Zedd's rambling lectures, preferred to spend his time with people of means. About five years before, Richard had moved away to live on his own, but he often stopped by his father's home, unlike Michael, who was always busy and rarely had time to visit. If his father had gone away, he would leave Richard a message in the blue jar telling him the latest news, some gossip, or of some sight he had seen.
On the day three weeks before when Michael had come and told him their father had been murdered, Richard had gone to his father's house, despite his brother's insistence that there was no reason to go, nothing he could do. Richard had long since passed the age when he did as his brother said. Wanting to spare him, the people there didn't let him see the body. But still, he saw the big, sickening splashes and puddles of blood, brown and dry across the plank floor. When Richard came close, voices fell silent, except to offer sympathy, which only deepened the riving pain. Yet he had heard them talking, in hushed tones, of the stories and the wild rumors of things come out of the boundary.
Of magic.

well i guess that the prophecy was a little to hard for all of u. the book is called the Temple of the Winds. im putting bios of some of the charaters below:

RICHARD RAHL
Richard Rahl is a young man with thick, coarse, light brown hair, a hawk-like brow and gray eyes and powerful muscles. He is bigger than most men, perhaps 6' 0" ( it is believed by most, that when he was digging a grave in the 9th book entitled Chainfire, his head was level with the ground ), with broad shoulders. He starts the series in his mid-twenties. His eyes are gray and piercing, and the colour is used as an identification of him several times later in the series. Several women in the series claim that he is one of the most handsome men they have ever seen. He wears earth tones at the start of the series, with dark greens and browns. However, later on, he gets the outfit of Barracus, the last War Wizard. He wears a golden cloak and black tunic, with silver wristbands carved with runic symbols. At his waist are pouches containing various items, most notably is white sorcerer's sand and black sorcerer's sand. Usually he wears the Sword of Truth at his hip, in a special leather baldric. Around his neck is, among other things, a gold medallion with a large ruby in the center.

NATHAN RAHL
Nathan Rahl is a wizard and ancestor of the Sword of Truth's protagonist, Richard Rahl. He is tall perhaps 5' 10" ( recent studies have found he is not quite as tall as Richard Rahl ), broad shouldered, and has shoulder length white hair. Despite his extreme old age, Nathan is still a handsome man, and he is in excellent physical condition, all things considered. Nathan is clever and sometimes deceitful, but his intentions are always pure.

KAHLAN AMNELL
Kahlan is described as an attractive young woman. She has thick, long brown hair, the length of which is a symbol of her authority and position. She has green eyes, a trait she inherited from her mother. She is almost as tall as Richard Rahl and about the same age (she starts the series in her mid-twenties). She typically wears the white, square-necked dress of the Mother Confessor. The weave of the fabric is fine and smooth, almost glistening, and bears none of the lace or frills of more conventional dresses, with no print or colors. It hugs her curves and complements her form. She wears good boots of soft leather, the kind of boots worn by one used to traveling. Even when not dressed in her Mother Confessor garb, her hair, her face, her figure, and mostly her bearing speak of what she is and the power she has.

DARKEN RAHL
Darken Rahl has a lean frame of 5' 11", delicate fingers and striking good looks. His blonde hair is straight and fine and hangs almost to his shoulders. His eyes are a painfully handsome shade of blue. His features set off his eyes perfectly. His voice is usually quiet, soft, and almost kind and had a clear, almost liquid quality to it. His skin is smooth and taut over his well-proportioned muscles, except on his upper left thigh, and across part of his hip and abdomen, which is covered in horrible, bumpy scars. He typically wears a white robe that goes down to within an inch of the floor, its only decoration being the gold embroidery in a narrow band around the neck and down the front. He wears no jewelry, other than a curved knife in a gold scabbard embossed with symbols warning the spirits to give way. The belt that holds it was woven of gold wire. His scars, inflicted by a ball of wizard's fire that had killed his father, Panis Rahl, are kept carefully hidden by his robes.

ZEDD
Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander is an old man with pale, leathery skin that drapes loosely over a collection of bony projections that make him look as frail as a dry stick, he is about 5' 8". He has scrawny, twig-like fingers and spindly arms and his bottom lacks any padding whatsoever. He is anything but frail, though. His voice is normally as thin as the rest of him. He typically wears simple, plain, unadorned robes which show his rank as an extremely powerful wizard. His face has sharp, keen features and angles with thin lips and intelligent eyes. His jaw is smooth and is kept clean-shaven and he has hazel eyes and wavy white hair. Despite his thin body, he is notorious for his voracious appetite and will eat almost anything offered to him, and lots of it.

As a young man, Zedd's face was pleasant to look upon and gentle in appearance. His wavy brown hair looked ungovernable, but his eyes seemed to see all, to know all, to understand all.

thats only some of the characters, my favorites is are richard, and nathan:)

WELL I FOUND OUT THAT MY COUSIN HAD HER BABY YESTERDAY!!!!!
