   AC3 2006
I am going to my first anime convention this upcoming weekend. I plan to go on the Saturday and I'm so excited. This year it's called AC3 2006, which stands for "Anime Convention in Canada's Capital", and it's being held in Ottawa, Ontario, which is the capital of Canada, hence the name. I've been wanting to go to an anime convention for years but the closest was Anime North in Toronto and I could never afford to go since it was too far away. There's finally an anime convention close to where I live. I even looked up for the fun of it and Montreal also had one this year. It was called Otakuthon that was held in June of this year. I can always go to that one in the future now that I know about it. This is Ottawa's third annual convention. I found out about it back in May. I wished I knew about it before, I would have gone to the last two in the previous years. Oh well! At least I know about it now. Is anyone else living in the area going? If you happen to live in Ottawa or the surrounding area and interested in going, here is the website:

http://www.ac-cubed.ca

You can find everything there from the admission to get in, the location, the events, etc. Remember that only cash or money order will be accepted at the door. Unfortunately I won't be able to cosplay because I don't know how to make a costume. Maybe I'll try to learn in the future. I hope to go with my friend Yana. I'm trying to talk her into going but she hasn't decided yet. I hope she decides to go. I don't really want to go myself but I will if I have to. I've been wanting to go for years and nothing is stopping me now. Also keep a look out for the fan fiction competition if you go. I entered one of my fanfics in the competition.

InuYasha's Halloween Mayhem

If they have the same competition next year, I'm definitely gonna enter 12 Days of Christmas - InuYasha Style.

Now I would like to update on what I've been doing since after Thanksgiving over a month ago. On Fri. 13 back in October, I help host a Fear Factor night at the residence I'm residing in while in college. I joined the SOS team, which stands for "Social Orientation Staff", and we plan and organize events. It was fun hosting this event except for the eating of live crickets. I had to walk away otherwise I would have barfed. I felt so sorry for those poor innocent bugs. There was also a huge bin filled it ice cold water and ice cubes, martini drinks filled with good and bad ingredients, bobbing for foam letters in cream cheese and an obstacle course.

On Oct. 26, I got to meet Eva Avila in person. She is the winner of Canadian Idol this year. She came to visit her hometown of Gatineau, Quebec, which is right beside Ottawa where the two provinces border. I bought the album, which contained her single "Meant To Fly", and I got her to sign it. Besides getting her autograph, I also got a pic with her. It was great meeting her. Her main album came out this week. It's called "Somewhere Else" if anyone is interested in getting it. I'm hoping to get it for Christmas.

For Halloween, I dressed up for the day as a witch. I later wore the same costume to a Halloween party held on Nov. 3.

On Nov. 10, I was informed by a friend through MSN Messenger that Howie Dorough from Backstreet Boys was in Ottawa and the St. Laurent mall promoting some new artist name George. My ultimate dream was to meet all the members of Backstreet Boys and Brian blowing me a kiss last year at one of their concerts was the closest I ever thought I would get. I went anyway hoping to meet him and I did meet him. I shook his hand, got his autograph, as well as George, and got a pic with him. I'm so excited. He was so nice. I told him my friend Rose got me into BSB and that I've been a fan of theirs for 10 years. I meant to tell him about the BSB Club that I have dedicated to them on deviantART but I ended up forgetting. I also should have mentioned that I have everyone of their albums, including the solo albums by Nick and Brian. I'm looking forward to their new album and I can't wait for it to come out. Howie is taking a break from recording it while promoting George.

Nov. 11 was Remembrance Day in Canada and I gave two minutes of silence to remember everyone who fought in the war. I had relatives on both sides who fought in World War 2 but, in the end, I'm glad that the good forces won.

On Nov 11 and 12, I finally got a sneak peak at the new Final Fantasy 12 game. I've been waiting 4 or 5 years for it to come out. I remember seeing pics of it from that far back. So far it looks awesome and the graphics kick butt.

   Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Canada! *Gobble gobble*

I am finally going home this weekend. I had to stay to finish up some homework. I'm so glad I have no school on Monday since it's a holiday in Canada.

I went to a potluck dinner this week that the MBN organized. Their full name is Multicultural Buddy Network. I met a new friend at one last year. Anyway, you had to cook some from the country your from but instead I went with my heritage, which are German and French. I went with German. I cooked some Oktoberfest sausages, which I bought from the grocery store. I'm not much of a cook so I can't make them. Anyway, I didn't think anyone would love them but I was wrong. Everyone really liked them. I didn't even get to try one. I plan to next week. They are still on sale. I've only eater regular sausages so I bet these ones are good.

Earlier this week, my computer broke. It's fixed now. The video and mouse adapter's got corrupted and had to be re-installed. The only thing that doesn't work now is sound. That couldn't be fixed. I have to go out and buy a new sound card so I can't listen to music on my computer in the mean time. I'll survive. My computer has been thought worse in it's past 5 years.

Last weekend on Sunday, I went back home for Waterfowl Day at the Bird Sanctuary. Once again I was showing my friend Yana, from Belarus, the sites. Even though it rained a bit, it was still good. Saw Upper Canada geese eat corn, saw reptiles, a lynx, badger, porcupine and birds. Yana and I even had our picture taken with an alligator. I took me a while to talk Yana into it. She didn't want to do it. I also got two things from an auction and that's about it. It was lots of fun. I even got to go up the tower and remember the times when I was a kid and it was my house. LOL

   More News
When I last update, I'm so sorry I forget to mention something important. A while ago Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter, passed away. I feel sad just as many other people. The world has lost an important person. He did so much in humanitarian efforts for animals. I will deeply miss him.

There is also someone else I miss dearly. Usually around the same time each year, I'll usually talk about Muffin. She was a white cat and my best friend. My user name is even in memory of her. It's half of my real name Melanie and half of hers. She passed away on Sept. 24, 1998, which was 8 years ago. I will always miss her but I am very happy cuz I know she is in heaven with God.

Just last week, my oma was in surgery. What she had done to her was Angioplasty, which is medical procedure in which a balloon is used to open narrowed or blocked blood vessels of the heart (coronary arteries). Luckily she didn't have a heart attack or stroke and now she's feeling much better. My opa had the same thing done to him after he has his heart attack back in Dec. 1999. He was lucky too cuz only 10% survive the certain massive heart attack he had. They are the only grand parents I've ever known. Unfortunately my dad's parents passed away before I was born. I really wish I could have gotten to meet them.

Last week on Friday, I was in the cafeteria at the college I go to and someone comes up to me and asks if I'm MelMuff. Apparently they recognized my pic off the internet. It happened to be Bluemuse, another fellow ReBoot fan. It was great meeting her. I always wanted someone to come up to me and ask if I was MelMuff and it finally happened. :D

   My first journal entry
I've decided to start using myOtaku and this is my first journal entry. Enjoy!

I'm quite busy with school work. I have so much homework to finish and I feel like I'm not gonna get it all done. I have a huge text this week and I'm so afraid that I'm gonna fail it. Anyway, I don't want to talk about school anymore. I see that from my last update, I talked about Steffi Di. Unfortunately she was voted off that same day but my second favourite Eva Avila ended up winning Canadian Idol so I'm still happy. Plus I've heard that Steffi is going to have one of her plays produced.

On Sept. 4, I finished my summer job for the year. I'll get paid one more time this week. It's sad to see the summer end but life goes on. I hope next summer will be just as fun. I started school on Aug. 28 but classes were canceled that day and I attended an orientation instead. The free pizza and pop were good. There was also a scavenger hunt and the team I was in came in first place. We won a book bag filled with goodies that we split within the group. I've done another scavenger hunt. I'm living again in residence and they organized a photo scavenger hunt, which I entered. One thing on the list was a picture of the Prime Minister and while I was going around Ottawa taking photos, I happened to be at the right place at the right time and I got a tip on where I Prime Minister was in person so I got his photo. I'm not really a supporter of our current Prime Minister in Canada because I disagree on a lot of his issues like to get rid of our health care. I'm not going to say anymore cuz I don't even like politics to begin with and I don't want to start making other Canadians angry at me. In the end, I am very happy that I got his photo just for the contest alone.

I went home last weekend for the fall fair at UCV. It's where I worked during the summer. I also brought my friend Yana, who's from Belarus, with me. I showed her around as they were closing, my foot kicked a rock while I was walking and I broke my toe. It's not the first time. I've broken another toe twice so I'm used to it. At least now I'm not limping anymore and I can walk normal again. I also had a dinner at UCV almost two week ago. For $6, the meal was splendid. Filling but not too filling. Absolutely perfect!

The last time I updated too, something freaky happened. I happened to be walking with a co-worker of mine and a bee hit my head. It bounced off and then bumped into the head of my co-worker and unfortunately it stung her. It was truly a freak accident.
