   Pink is the New Orange
So aside from various small fixes here and there, the most notable change is the new theOtaku header. It is a slimmer version of the old header. The blue header is still blue. However the orange header managed to turn pink. I think Adam has gone colour-blind :P. You may notice that the Jukebox is no longer there. As far as I know this is temporary and should return in some fashion in the near future.

   Fan Manga Overall Fix
There was a bug causing a series to have the wrong last page and date. This bug was affecting all strips and series covers. It has been cleared (hopefully) and I have manually fixed all the existing series page counts and dates. Any feedback is always helpful since this site is still in its infancy stage.

   The Mad Hatter's First Trick
*Mad hatter takes off his cap and out pops...a comic*

A Comic? Yes indeed. We are pleased to inform those who have previously submitted comic strips to the fan art site to contact adam for the opportunity to beta test the upcoming section.

   My Birthday!
It has finally come! Who woulda thunk it. I am now of the ripe old age of 20. Unfortunately there is no time to party since I have a midterm on Wednesday. But after that I will be able to enjoy my new age in all its glory.

On the top of lastest animes I've watched, here is a list of what I can think of at the moment:

1. Gantz (Season 2 Only)
I was told not to watch season one because "nothing actually happens." But luckily season 2 was pretty good. I enjoyed the story even though some brief parts are really softcore porn. My only disappointment was that the ending was so ambiguous. I did read up that the manga continues way past that anime and that the last mission on the anime is an anime-only mission. I don't mind the deviation so much since this mission explains a part of the story that the manga implicitly follows.

2. InuYasha Movie 2 and 4
Both decent movies. I saw the second movie a long time ago on YTV actually and just recently saw the fourth movie. The only complaint that I have about InuYasha is that all the battles are the same. They will struggle to even touch the bad guy and then in one strike they will defeat them.

3. Spriggan
Definitely one of the more unique storylines. I find it interesting how North Americans will commonly take ancient stories from Greek/Nordic/Roman/Arabic mythologies and make a "universe" out of it, but on the other hand I've seen a number of Animes that take Jewish and Christian mythologies and turn them into something else. This movie was pretty good in my opinion. I really liked the imaginative process that went into the story. I would rank this movie as a 4/5 only because it didn't quite have that "wow" factor that I've seen in other high quality animes. Visually it looks quite good and thankfully there aren't really any cheesy characters.

Still need to watch:
1. Ghost in the Shell
2. Samurai Champloo
3. Cowboy Bebop
4. InuYasha Movies 1 and 3
5. RahXephon (although I'm told nothing happens in this one either)
6. Blood: The Last Vampire
7. Tenjou Tenge

Oh and as a side note, ever since I went to Japan I've been trying to find a way to watch the GTO Live Action series. For some reason that show was so entertaining for me even though I couldn't understand 99% of what they were saying and had to keep asking for a translation.

   Fan Art Votes
Along with continued production on project Mad Hatter, a bug relating to votes has been fixed.

Previously when you voted for a piece, it did not show up right away and you were required to reload the page to see your additional vote. This no longer occurs and now the value you see is the value that includes your vote.

   Continuing Production
Just a small blurb about progress. I will most likely not be updating my dev posts for a while since Adam has got me working on this secret project I like to call Project Mad Hatter. It is definitely a big one and worth the wait for all you art fans and artists.

You never really know what the mad hatter might have in his cap...

   New Fan Art Caption Limit
Yes you read that correctly. The caption limit has now been removed. Instead, artists can give as much explanation as necessary. Long entries will be trimmed down to show only a portion of the caption with an option to fully expand the caption. It might also be important to note that this effect is retroactive and artists may update the captions for previously submitted works.

   Fanart Voting Time Limit
Pretty much self-explanatory. There is now a 90 day limit on voting for any given piece of art. This helps the server run faster by yet again lightening the load. But more importantly it levels the playing field for all works of art by giving each piece a finite window of opportunity. That way older works cannot keep getting votes and appear to be more popular than they actually are/were.

I think its a good change, hopefully most of you agree.

   Private Messages
I've heard reports of pm inboxes having "phantom" messages. These messages are usually from users that didn't or no longer exist. All staff related messages should be visible now. I will continue to clean up the pm table as much as possible so that there are no more phantom pm's.
