Dud!
Well, I had plans for the weekend, but alas, definitely not in the stars. I got very frightened yesterday, seing hundreds of orange dried out 1 inch wormy looking things--- and there was a large mysterious bulge in the backyard. Subterreans termites I screamed! I'm surprised I didn't suspect vampires! Uh oh, another new little hole-- meaning Caddyshack , the gopher could be back! I called the gopher people, and I am glad that they could come on a Saturday (no daytime breaks anymore, but I would rather be working). When they came, I was embarassed-- the orange things turned out to be buds from the neighbor's pine tree! (Can yo say red). The bulge in the grass was a new visitor-- a mole! So, we are still gopher free. Except now I set up that they will check monthly for me so I don't get freaked out about everything... but pine cone buds, that's a new one!

That was the big excitement this weekend=== somehow its still hard to get moving and clear out the back office, and get organised. I end up sitting in the den-- not really watching TV or reading or anything, just letting my thoughts go to random. Like my sister says, sometimes I just think too much, and the world passes by. Well, maybe I'll take my novel and go read somewhere. Its a mystery set in Edo (with a samurai detective)-- I was happy to find the authot just wrote a new one!. I had even stopped knitting for a long while. Somehow with spring comming (all too short in So Cal), maybe the sun will help me to get moving , just a little, and maybe get things moving. Stll trying to get used to new schedule as I am in 2 offices, and have to manage to keep it all co-ordinated. One day, hopefully that will happen to the house too!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Grumpy!
Though I am a clutter bug, I do have a thing about things working right-- like using the right schedules and having things in place... so I get grumpy when people call me at random for standby when it is not my time, or forget to contact me when they need help and call someone at random, or even better, screw up my schedule by promising me to 2 offices at the same time. Maybe underneath the skin of every Oscar, there beats the heart of a Felix (as in the Odd Couple)

Slowly trying to clear up the house (yeah right) especially the home office (which I have been avoiding)-- well started rolling up cables to prevent triping-- a start....

I guess I still have been in a rut, but I have to work on making changes-- I think maybe starting some more nature photography, maybe sketching. Looks like I'm going to be in So Cali for a while. This is a bad time to sell the house, and I am finally full time! (I think). I am waiting for the official papers--- maybe I am getting a little Merryl-ish about stuff like that.

Well, a little picture to reflect how I felt last week, a bit prickly...

Well, trying to loosen up a bit and get a bit more organized, but also enjoy some things. Hope my wonderful friends have a good week!

Bubba Gump bush
Thanks for all the good thoughts from great friends--- we had lots of smoke , but lots of water dropping helicopters for the hills, and the fire stayed out of the litle canyon next to the street, so we are all OK-- and we are having a lot of fog (good) and maybe a little rain in a couple of days (better).

One good thing-- I am full time now. Worked first full time week last week --- just waiting for the official papers and stuff, and the paycheck. We had the gopher guy come--- but uh oh-- Mamma saw some new holes out there! Yes, I think Bill Murray's little gopher friend now lives in my back yard! If you have never seen Caddyshack, rent it-- its a good laugh!

I might even go to Border's and get some tea. Haven't been there in a while, and today is cool in the morning because of the thick marine fog layer-- It will feel nice to cozy up with a book and some chai.

I hope anyone living in the Northeast is OK-- It was scary to see all the snow and ICE! (soo close to spring).

Hopefully, next week will be quiet after the excitement of last week. I finally got to have dinner with my 2 buds from work on Friday-- fish and chips, but it was really good.

I don't know if I have posted this picture before, but they call this a shrimp bush-- I got to see this in full bloom at the Arboretum, a favorite place. Hope you enjoy!

Guess most of the house work will wait for next Saturday...

Would someone tell me my name?
Yep, the ultimare in confusion. We found out, the gardner trapped the gopher in one neighbor's yard, but my other neighbor has tons of gophers, who invaded my yard, so gopher man did the treatment anyway (these little guys have been playing hide and seek for a long time, and I would like to be able to walk in the yard without twisting an ankle!).

We have been in the high 90's and had a large brush fire. There were blockades, so I couldnt get to the highway or anything. I packed and was ready to evacuate. This fire was much closer than the one 2 years ago. And the camera jammed. There was something wrong with the card. I found a small one and took 2 pictures. We heard helicopters all day, my neighbor and I got together. Then, the lock to the front door broke! I was able to get someone to fix it before the blockades moved up the hill. Today, my back is killing me, the air smells awful, and when I looked out the door, I saw a new plume of black smoke. It was small, and heard the helicoppters again. The thing that really makes me mad, was to hear that it was arson! Luckilly, though no one was hurt, and the fire departments of several towns responded-- I will post 2 pictures of what I saw out the front of my house. As this is the second time I've been through this, and have a neighbor who has lived in the canyons longer, and been through this more times, that helps. It also really helped to be able to spend time with my neighbors when things got really tense--

Well--things seem to be either all or none-- but being able to have friends to share with makes many things a lot more tolerable.

Here are the pics:

G day
The gopher man is supposed to come this morning-- say your prayers varmints! Actually, looks to me like they skedaddled- no more mounds of dirt! Gawd I hope nothng worse took over.

The schedule is changes again, and in 2 weeks I'll be full time. I still work in 2 places-- funny thing is the smaller office is kick-a-- pace. I am really drained when I come home from there, and fall asleep pretty quickly.

Now is Cali's time for its not good weather-- high temps. Going up into the ninetys! Last year we had 20 days of over one hundred degrees, so all outdoor repairs and stuff will have to be getting finished soon. The biggest, getting the house painted, was last year. Most other stuff is indoors, like my horrible home office. And I'm going to need new glassed, I fall asleep and bend the frames. Well , one thing about hot weather, I look for Borders, and sometimes sketch

The Valentine season for parrots seems to be taming down-- no more big screams, although Ramana seems to want to be picked up a little more and ride on the shoulder like a pirate's parrot. I like the idea of her trying out for American Idol! Thanks, Jaguar, that really cracked me up.

Today's challenge--- can I get any significant cleaning in the home office done? Big M is away--and going on a further business trip end of this month.

Wonderful friends, have a great weekend-- watch out for weather wherever you are, Mother Nature has been in a huff!

Sleepwalking
That's what it feels like-- many obligations, and so hard to get any energy to do them-- like the vacuuming and such-- things are getting done at odd times (after dinner-- after doing not much of anything during the weekend). Groan-- more gopher burrows, and not even the energy to take a picture OH NO! Anyway, trying to get things back on track... and now it seems to be Valentine's day for parrots if you know what I mean. Ramana B Byrd is a girl parrot, and calling the flock so loud that upstairs, and all doors closed you can't hear yourself think. One time when I brought her to the vet (check up) there was a boy parrot there-- they were trying to nuzzle through the carriers. Kinda cute anyway! I wonder if parrots dream? We are having rain, but need it. I see Chicago has had 2 significant storms since I was there. That would be tough weather for a Californian (and to think I used to life Upstate New York!)

Well, I wish a great day to wonderful friends. Will try to get around to more sites tonight. Will be putting pictures up again pretty soon.

Just Lazy
Well, no more 6 month deadline to get everything spiffed, and get the house ready to sell. Guess I will be a Callifornian for a while-- actually, I think it is probably a better fit--- I should get a photo taken of me in a business suit with the spikey hair-- somehow I don't think that played too well , but that's who I am. So, there are many worse places to be. Just have to get the energy up to start making changes in the house so I can enjoy it. Guess I am enjoying sleeping a little too much! Haven't been to Borders for tea in months. Driving this weekend will be a little nuts near LA-- the Academy Awards-- so maybe a little more work on the home office-- oh yes, and the gophers!

back again
Well, after the interview, lots of waiting and wondering, but I will be staying in So Cal for a while... so slowly trying to empty out the awful home office, and sort out so may things that just got tossed back there. Well, trying to get everything done and relocate would have been nerve wracking so one issue solved. Sorry again been away long, but after the interview a lot piled up, and basically I could get up, go to work, and that was about it--- so I have some time to do what I need to at the house. I need to do several things, and multitasking is something, well , I mess up. Anyway, Happy Presidents Day --- guess me and the parrots will watch some movies today. You are great friends, and in my thoughts often.

Don't Look Back
Well, its ready, set, shake here-- the interview is on Monday, and just thinking about the things I would need to do to move is making me anxious, and a bit short tempered. Its not helping that we are working in overdrive, and for me in two places! And right now, I can't let anyone know what's going on because if the transfer does not happen, its better that nothing be said. Luckilly I have 2 good friends who know about this -- but when I am working in 2 places, its hard to go for lunch or dinner and relax. And my dad's health is an issue again-- so I just have to go one foot at a time. Monday I will have the interview, but then the hard part comes-- considering making a big change IF they offer the transfer. The head cold is FINALLY breaking up.

I have been watching video discs-- Big O recently. Anime is very soothing to me, saving Howl's Moving Castle for the weekend. And I look for any place I can catch anime on TV-- I need to just keep focused on today right now.

CosmicSailor, thank you so much for your suggestion of the dancing pickle-- here he is- again thanks for lending me your Muse!

The Hunting Parrot
Well, the big parrot has finally stopped her loud jungle calls. She has discovered a new, previously unexplored part of the earth--the side of her cage. We put a little ladder made of twigs there a couple of years ago, and today she discovered that its fun to climb up and down the ladder. She also loves to play with her shadow, and flutter her wings at it. I love the look of surprise and joy on her face when she finds these things.

Unfortunately that nasty head cold still has me in a vise, my head aches so bad, and all the other fun things that come with it. I want to draw the dancing pickle-- and I will! Again , many thanks to CosmicSailor! Its been all I can do to get to work, and 2 locations with the virus gets hard (I get calls from both places now, instead of them channelling everything through the computer). The sound of the phone is driving my head batty and well as being stuffed up.

Oh, well - will see what comes. A question-- does anyone know if the FMA manga takes the story past the movie, or a different direction than the movie? I find I am really liking FMA== again I like the complex characters, and the different focus of the series. Who is a favorite anime character, and what do you like about them? I like Vash (duh- with my screen name of Mamma Vash) for his imperfections-- often naive and clueless, and having a part that seems to be shy and anxious. I also like Millie, and Ed-- all have surprising traits at times.

Guess its going to be a movie day with the birds today. Thanks my friends for your comments and support! If there are any chickens-- better run because the last can of chicken soup is gone! LOL

A little picture-- to share a serene moment from the lake at the Arboretum... this little fellow is cruising along, oblivious to the cold, and deterermined in his course...
