Changes
Thanks to great friends for comments and support! It was a challenging week...and this week continues the cycle. A close family friend is getting married next week, and this week sadly we lost an elderly family member. I don't want to elaborate more there. I may not be posting for a bit. Life is a circle, and that means changes, some we like, some we don't. But, that's why there are seasons, that's why there is growth, and that's why we have memories. Love you folks much. Will return.

Happy Mothers Day
Above all, a happy mother's day-- to all moms! A day to be celebrated!

This week has been a bit of a popper! (normally I would use a select expletive-- 4 letter rude word) We had a fire start in a park along the highway I have to drive. The traffic stopped when I was near the park--you could hear exploding noises like the fourth of July! When flames came up to the trees, the pine trees exploded! (I did not know that). This is the secend fire near the canyon (number one was in the canyon)in only 2 months! At least it did not go up the canyon wall or jump the highway. But I got a snoot full of smoke, on top of a virus, so I had an asthma attack and had to miss a day of work again. I was out only one day because I have fought long to get full time hours. Then, 2 days later I was victim of hit and run on the highway! I wasn't hurt--it was pretty minor-- but I was fried the driver kept on going! I was emotionally shaken up--- then just funked out. I was glad to be busy (yes, went into work because I wasn't hurt and hate to lose time) The next morning, all I wanted to do was stay in the house. Luckilly, my neighbor and friend was outside and called me over. We chatted, had iced tea, and put together some Japanese lanterns, I helped install some solar walkway lights. My neighbors are really wonderful-- but I don't like to call people up when things go wrong for me-- because this year, it has just happened that often! But I think things would have felt very bad today had we not shared some time together.

It gave me some motivation to use the computer-- I was just hiding in the den or bedroom. My friends here are also a big help.

So here's to a quiet week (I hope) ! A picture from my back yard-- baby persimmons-- when they are small , you can only see them from underneath the tree. If they make it (most usually fall off), they are brilliant orange in color. I'm told that they make nice cookies and breads. I wish all my friends fun on mothers day, and a good week.

Hot Town, Summer in the Canyon
Well, we are way ahead of schedule into (shudder) fire season. One was in a town park-- I was stuck on the highway near it-- I heard popping noises, small explosions. On the radio, they said the pine trees were exploding when the heat reached them. On TV, they showed the big Griffith Park fire, near the zoo. That is far from me, but there were 2 smaller fires now far by. I went to work 2 days, even took standby and was up most of the night, but after the fires, it was hard to breathe, so I had to stay out today. I don't like to miss work days, but I want to feel decent enough that I can think clearly. So I'll be going back tomorrow. Beginning to get some ideas for small sketches so I'll back my pencil and pad and maybe doodle after work. Big M is back from travels , and no big trips fo r the next 2 weeks at least. It's been so hot, that I have been taking pictures through the windows, but they are terrible!

What to you do to reduce tensions and worry? At least I am kntting little squares again. I had stopped for several months. Some day. for a lark, I will photograph the squares. I want to make another blanket, , although making and aghan size may be better. What do you all think?

I can't believe that sometimes I have to watch Ghost in the Shell 4-5 times to "get" the plot, but I am appreciating it more. This I may need to learn a little more about CSS and make some little changes in my site. (yes, I generally try to sketch my own backgrounds, unfornately I rush the sketches many times.)

What are your long time non anime favorite movies? I love Shrek, Monsters Inc, but also Wall Street. Anything that has nothing to do with work-- that can kinda seem like a fantasy to me.

No photos today, but I want to send warm feelings and good fortune to wonderful friends, who though I am irregular in posting, make me feel like they are standing right by.

Love, Peace, and biscotti!

Been Tagged...
I guess when you are tagged, you reveal some things about yourself... so here goes:
1. I graduated from an engineering college, but have a degree in biology.
2. I have 2 parrots, one of which talks, and has gotten me in trouble ! (it tried to supervise a trainee, then made a rude remark! The trainee though it was me, so it cost a pancake breakfast!)
3. I used to play the Bassoon!
4. I am a klutz!
5/ I am semi-ambidextrous.

I tag Kitsune Tsuki, CosmicSailor, ad Twilight Samurai!

Thank you for all the kind thoughts for my sister. She is feeling better-- she had chest pain, but no heart problem which relieves me, and went to the doctor. She has been dealing with really bad stressors, so I'm glad she got things looked at-- like I said before, I;m the family worry wart. This weekend I need to get back into things--- I want to get an anime disc (vol 5 of Ghost in the Shell), and may sign up for a photoshop class to hopefully learn more about digital art. ( the community center is sponsoring it-- the camera shop is too far to get a class after work and the community class is on Saturday, near the house). I started knitting again tonite to make my blanket squares. I haven't been knitting in months. Also haven't taken many pictures. Time to get back to life-- guess I've been spending too many hours not doing much. I just want to thank my friends, you all have helped me out more than you can know!

Here is a picture of the California quail-- might be a Gambles quail-- sorry for the poor contrast-- they tend to appear in the evening, and run quickly!. Have a good one!

Circles
Not much going on, yet all I do is keep running. Circles. Work is busy, and once the weekend comes, all the plans seem to vaperize, and I spend time just watching television. Oh, no, I am turning my brain into guacamole! Can't seem to plan anything, because items come up where I am feel like I am on permanent standby. My sister wasn't feeling too good lately-- I hope everythng turns out OK. She just says its stress-- I tell her to check it out. Can't help it , I do worry.

As its Sunday, time for the shopping, but first I think I'll have breakfast out, and read my book for a while, or maybe go to Borders after shopping.

Well-- I included a little picture, a little bird who is going to get into the fun of taking care of his own little house:

Good weekend to good friends!

Rain, rain
Well, the week when out with a bang! Thursday night, when coming home, something said to me-- don't you want to use the standby room tonite? I dismissed it, and went home. Monday and Friday, I commute about 50 mile one way- well when I woke up Friday, it was pouring! Here in So Cal the water mixes with the road oils and wheeee! Like Tokyo Drifting without the parking garages, and throw in bumber cars! I could have kicked myself for not heading to the standy by room!

As I look around at the mess in the home office, and the clouds out side, today will by moview and anime. FORGET THE CLEAN UP! (for one day). I am tired. Hey Solo Tremain, thanks for the website RE: Yoko Kanno, and CosmicSailor, I have seen Akira 3 times to understand the ending (I am so easily perplexed)/ Caprice, so wonderful to hear from you! I have started Samurai 7 and agree its so cool, and also Twilight Samurai good to hear from you-- Kncking On Heavens Door is the Bebop movie and really good, hey Kitsune ! Yeah, who did eat all the goodies in the Closet of Anxiety-- not fair! Shireishou-- love teh Double Face pictures you posted, want to see if I can find that manga, and Jaguar- HOWDY-- I guess we have all gotten busy-- seems to be the cycle this time.

Well, will see if I can get my lazy bones to put some pictures up-- so lazy I took them in the backyard! And as we speak, yes, Caddyshack paid me a visit yesterday, leaving behind yet another tunnel!

A great day to wonderful friends!

Time is variable
Feels like time speeds up like lightning, or slows down to a crawl-- just going the everyday stuff feels like riding a bucking bronco. Think I'm beginning to get used to a variable schedule. Tonite I'm actually awake after 10 PM! (Doesn't mean the brain works to good). But slowly things will fall in place. Saw Akira on tv--- saw it a long time ago, but this time I could appreciate it more. I still love the art of anime. I can't conceive of hand drawing all the cels for a movie!

Looking forward to the weekend where I can have my own little anime festival--- I just got vol 1 Black Cat, and want to watch Bebop Knocking on Heavens Door again I love Yoko Kanno's music. Is she getting involved in anything new?

Survived the 12 days of work (barely) and slept the weekend. I want to do something a little more productive./ Do you all have plans for the weekend? Well, see you soon! You are all wonderful friends/ Hopefully some photos tomorrow.

Wanderer
Been having another pretty busy week, until some stomach bug yesterday--- stayed in bed and SLEPT! Not an interesting activity, but it felt really good. Today, once again, try to tackle some more stuff for the house.

But, I get distracted by the critters--- watching the birds building the nest in the bird house, and today I saw 2 California quails in the backyard! They have a little group of feathers on their head that looks like a question mark. They are real shy, and real cute. That weekend on standby was a beaut- never left, then got to work 12 days in a row. No wonder I felt sick yesterday. But I'm going to get some more chicken soup today. Yeah, supplies are very low. So's my ambition today. Last last I had everything I needed to do lined up in my head, and was determined I would charge about and do it. Well, at least a couple of things are done (laundry, vacuuming the stairs).

Hope everyone is surviving the odd weather-- I don't remember snow storms ever coming so hard and so late!

I took a picture of a roadrunner we saw in the yard, will try to put it up here! Trying to deal with a lot of things right now, so I think I'm spending more time in the closet of anxiety , while trying to press forward. Not even going to wait for a slow down-- so today, its either take a picure, or pick up my long dormant knitting, and take a break! Enjoy the road runner! Good thoughts to you all!

Grumpy agin
Well as I toss about, sleep is light, and I wake up looking for Snow White, yup each morning I realize I have turned into Grumpy again. Whining has recently become my specialy, and really, who wants to hear it? Everyone has a barrel of stuff to deal with-- so I have to stop seeing everything as a major tragedy, and start regaining seeing tehe lighter side. Since the fire, we have been having more animal visitors-- momma and baby bnnies come in th e evening. I must say, it's amusing to see how the parrots are fascinated by them, as well as new birds in all the trees. My backyard is very little, but full of things to look at. Need to start knitting again (have a blanket half done, and Borders armchairs are so comfy). My sketchpad seems to call "Use me-- even to doodle"/ I just have been tired , but I think ready to slowly restart doing more things than work-- work and sleep only dulls the mind, brings on the grumps.

Cosmic Sailor, I am going to try a lizard soda jerk- that's such a great idea. Many folks suggested Black Cat- I got the disk since I have to work standby this weekend , so I will bring a little player, the disk, sketch pad, and use the stanby room (its a 47 mile drive if I get called, and I usually do) so I would like to have something to relax with , and not fight traffic.

Just want to say Happy easter, and lots of good thoughts to great friends, because lately, I know I have been coming and going more than Houdini!

Hopefully, there will be time for a tea break this weekend, and maybe getting re-acquaintained with my pencil. Still working on the picutres of the birdhouse and nest building, but there coming!

Happy spring!

Bird nests---
Being an adult stinks! Bills, housework, the job-- all so very not fun-- then I noticed an old birdhouse Big M built when we first moved here. Here were 2 little sparrows- picking up straw, then hiding behing the bush, then flying as hard as they could to be the first to clain the birdhouse! I just put down the bills and watched the birds, tried to get some photos (will need to crop them)-- then the dwarf peach that was slowly dying because of a big pine tree in back of it-- my gardner to the rescue! He is wonderful with trees- clipped the pine, trimmed the peach (during the winter, the poor thing had 2 branches), and now it has four and sixteen blossoms! Wow! it hasn't had that many in several years! And those 2 birdies working together were so adorable--- as I watched them struggle but keep going, I figured, I can slog through the paper work-- and got it done! (Yup, Big M is on 2 big trips!) And did a little in the back office-- just going to keep doing a little, but one day it will be done. But I am not going to let go of anime and manga! I got myself a new disc-- Black Cat, and figure next weekend, oh boy, here comes the popcorn, I'm going to enjoy!

What are you reading or watching? Any good internet sites to find things? I'll try to get the birdhouse pictures up-- hey were just so determined and cute!

one uncute thing.....Caddyshack the gopher is back again! So someone will come monthly hopefully to trap him, chase him off--- the mole left, but I found out they don't do damage. I have a variety of geckos on the fence, so maybe I will see the roadrunner again. They are interesting birds!

So again the cycle of nature-- this year I will get to the bird sanctuary-- but also Surf City (its not far) and Venice Beach (ah- the ultimate in Los Angeles strangeness). Could it be this old East Coaster is getting Californianized? Well, dude, I live in sandles (but I always did) and I enjoy my punky little spikey hair... I think I could do worse.

Well, I guess I will say good night to good friends for now. Go outside at night, look up and find your star! You are all wonderful. Sweet dreams, and sweeter biscotti!

oh, can any one tell me the difference between old school anime and new school?
