Earth to Mars...... yep, daydreamin agin
Well, still a bit tired, the cold is still hanging on , a lot better, but wow do I have a froggy voice. My luck with appliances and machines has not changed either. When I returned to use the bigger office, the computer slowly died.... the screen began to shuttle through several images, and someone in the office with me began to get motion sickness. Then, with a blaze of glory, the hard drive crashed! I can imagine someone writing its name in a notebook and ..... LOL. I still feel a little day dreamy, and in a Jimmy Buffett frame of mind. When I was on vacation, was I watched the sunset from my balcony, you could hear Jimmy Buffett songs being played below.

Oh, how I do not want to be doing housework ! Rather be walking on the beach with my camera. Watch out--- there will be many beach photos coming up!

How is everyone surviving the weather? Its cold and hot here , with rain. We had some pretty big waves briefly. What are folks doing to celebrate the season? I found some stars that change color-- I got them, and hope I put them in the windows this weekend. Wishing good friends , many good things.

So, here's a little Florida with more to come...

Shells, sand, dolphins, and AAACHOO!
It's been a long time since I have logged on--- work has gotten to be hectic-- you have to kill your butt to get 4 days off! Anyway, I did go to work on Halloween as a tax form, complete with silly newspaper hat, and fake money stapled in the hat, and on the form. I will try and post the picture later. Hauled heavy to get things done to the point I could have 5 days off, then day after I arrived, I have an awful chest cold. This will be the first year Big M will be coming to since the new job-- and when the holiday is over, he is off flying to Europe again, unexpected! I'm hoping we can go on the shelling tour (goes to a little island I used to swim out to with a plastic bag, to collect bit cockleshells for decoration, and hope to find a sand dollar). The hotel is on the beach, and I got up yesterday, went out and took picutres of a sand dune, with sea oats, and miniature flowers.

Thanks all for the suggestion of Death Note-- it is quite intersting! I have to get a DVD recorded or TIVO or something, because I fall asleep too often and usually wake up as the credits are rolling!

Well, I just want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all friends, with wishes of family, togetherness, and peace to you all!

If its cold in your area, you can feed the birdies after your meal is over with bits from a roll or piece of fruit....they are having Thanksgiving with my persimmons-- when they land on the fruit, their eyes are big as saucers! (some fruits weight 8 oz !)

Time for ghosties!
Well-- they gone and doneit-- set me off like a rocket! Screwed up the schedulem, heaping piles of paperwork! Thank God for iPods-- had to stay til 8 pm. At that hour, kick off the shoes while I'm banging on the keyboard of computer sticking, going in circles, shutting down. I swear, there must be a candid camera in the office (one of my co-workers cracks up because what I yell at that #$%^ machine! Well, tonite the iPod is loaded with quite a few songs, and while closing up at 8 pm, it was Karaoke at the Office! Yup, dancing around, belting out I Love L. A, and some anime ballads by Yoko Kanno.... then all of a sudden bursting into laughter, forgetting I had loaded on "Yo, Pumpkinhead!"

Are you all dressing up. Though it is late, I will try to make the income tax costume (complete with news paper hat!)

I've been able to catch Elfen Lied on TV (oh, the episodes are quite spaced apart), but its good.

Strange thing-- we had BAD Santa Ana winds during the fires-- the one closest to me was arson (it was arson 2 times before-- and one came too close). This time the winds blew the wrong direction-- that fire is still burning today. The persimmons stayed on the tree, but my metal gate bent the hinges, and yanked the post out of the ground. So, gate repair on Thursday!

Well, Happy Halloween! And don't forget your Post Ghosties for breakfast! Check out Yensid's site with a terrific Halloween display!

You know what's coming....
That time of year--- when things go bump and #$%^ in the night! Not ghosts, just ole Mamma Vash because the nights are getting longer, it gets darker quicker, and I trip over everything! LOL. Well, the persimmon tree boughs are bent over, groaning with fruit. Though we have had the tree 12 years, we never got more than 5 fruits on the whole tree! Well, this year, it will look very Halloween-y! So here comes the picture of the tree====

Is any one going to dress up for Halloween? We can get dressed up at work... I was thinking of going as an income tax form (yes, I have a strange sense of humour). I hope I get home in time to give candy to the little kids-- they are always so cute.

Upside down!
Wednesday is the likker day at work-- what's this-- opennings in the schedule? Gah, makes me wonder if I am in a parallel universe. Well, the toilets have been rebuilt and repaired! That's done! Have some more things-- just have to do them one by one. The persimmons are not fully orange yet, but some critter is taking bites out of them before they are ripe! Must be the revenge of the squirrels again! I wonder what they taste like when ripe ? Anybody had a persimmon? We leave them on the tree for the hummingbirds-- I guess they ferment a little and get juicy- the hummers (not the cars) love 'em, but fly a little crooked after taking the juice!

BigM is coming Saturday-- then leaves again on Sunday! The little parrot is happily playing with his paper boat, and ball-- he is a stitch. Is any one having changing leaves yet? Miss that here is Cali. I so badly need to go out to take photos-- the pepper trees are starting to get pods, and the peppercorns grow inside the pods-- they are really pretty. Hope to get a picture.

Hope that everything is good for great friends!

Fruitcakes (J Buffett)
I always associate Jimmy Buffett songs with laughter-- at the bigger office, the group I work with are Parrotheads, for real. There's one song that cracks me up-- especially when I think of some folks I have known who are so serious button down corporate types- yuppies! (shiver)--- not my style! Anyway, the song Fruitcakes has a cool line " We need more fruitcakes in this world, and less bakers". I had to get up very early to get to send off overnight mail, get to office number 1 and set up, the line in the post office was very slow-- I popped out the iPod and started listening to Jimmy Buffett and started smiling, though I was very tired.

I showed our director the sketch of the ninja squirrel- she wants a color repro to hang on the wall! We were laughing about the squirrel problems (man, when they happen they are bad!) and she brought everyone a yummy Starbucks at lunch.

Tomorrow I will have to get up early for the plumbers, and beginning to slowly get things done in the house... changing one job for another. But either tonite or tomorrow, I think I will try to go to karaoke at a local restaraunt. Definitely a change of scenergy will help-- it the traffic lets me!

Enjoy the weekend

Here it Comes!
Ah, the weekend was a breath of cool, clean air. We had a little rain, which was such a relief from the 100 degree plus heat we were having. Starting to feel like a real fall! But, that will disappear in about 1-2 days, after all, this is So. Cal !

Although I heard the call of housework begging to be done, I decided work has been too many long days, and after the attacks of the ninja squirrels led to staying too late again, I did do the ninja squirrel, had a wonderful hot chai green tea, and played with my new toy. Yup--- got an iPod...when I have to stay late, at least I will have my funky music--- a lot of (I know you guessed it)... Yoko Kanno from various animes. And Ringo Starr's You Know it Dont Come Easy (that really relates to work!)

Well, here it is (you can start giggling).. I tried to make him a bit comical-- a headband that indicates he is of the Village of Acorns, and Data Line Haters!

Attack of the Ninja Squirrel!
Well, something that prompted me to start a sktch (finally). I work at 2 locations, one is a little office, in the older part of a suburb. It is knicknamed "the tree city"-- there are beautiful , very old trees lining all the streets-- pepper trees, sycamores, and it looks a lot like back East. (Queen Anne houses, along with Calirnia bungalow style). But.... there lurks a clandestine menace-- determined to battle technology wherever it may be found--- this hidden technology assasin-- is the ninja squirrel! A family of them live about 6 blocks from the office, and they chew through the data lines, sometimes the phone lines! You got it, the computers are out for 6 hours, sometimes even the phones. But, we still have to continue business as usual--- with old paper forms, and sometimes other manual equipment. All eyes stay on the monitors, waiting for the computer to jump back to life. At lunch yesterday, everyone started making little sketches of the squirrels attacking the cables (they have been shielded, but since when did that ever stop a determined squirrel). Our director howled when I sketched a squirrel with scissors-- I said with some time, I could alter him, and color it-- and put a couple of changes in there. I will post it when finished here.

I wish a good weekend, with blue skies, cool breezes, and beautiful coloured leaves (miss that in California !)

   Still sleepy.....
I guess I have returned-- YAWN.. I hate time zone changes, and jet lag! A world traveller, I Ain't. I do day drives, and short trips, and I guess I am amazed at all the international things I can find here in the US. (though one day, I would love to see Japan ! In the meantime I have found beautiful Japanese gardens in Florida (Morikami Gardens) and in the Chicago Botanical gardens, a Large Japanese garden, with a shonin house, and docent talking all about it. I got some good pictures there, and a great blue heron landed on a little island across from the house!

I started watching Elfen Lied on TV (various channels carry anime briefly, so I make hay while the sun shines). In Illinois, I got to see the Lippazan stallions-- the horsies that dance and jump! (will post those pictures later too.)

Any good anime series coming up for fall? Right now I am reading a mystery set in Edo era of Japan, and its very good. Its a series by Laura Joh Rowland, and pretty good... takes me away!

Well, here is a water lilly from the gardens....I hope you enjoy it.

Still tired
I slept away most of the weekend-- kinda muggy and hot.... it is just seeming so hard to do anything constructive! Working at 2 offices is right now feeling a bit much.

Has anyone seen The Simpsons Movie? I thought it was pretty funny (I still do get a kick out of them). I got the Ghost in the Shell movie, so I am saving that one up for next week.

This Friday will be the trip to Chicago-- hope the weather holds out! It's supposed to be a scorcher in So Cal!

Well, a little photo to share (in part inspired by some of Cosmic Sailor's sketches!). Yup, Surf City USA....
