2009 Post

Hello everyone!

As I can see, a lot have already posted their new year's post... Hmm... I need to do this right, or something, at least.

I wish you all a wonderful new year. May 2009 bring you success in your plans and may you be able to overcome any trials that go your way.

See you around!

*ha, at least internet at home is doing fine... :D

Happy New Year

Hello everyone, as I post this, it is now 2009.

I bring you news of the future: there will be fireworks and merry making as 2009 is greeted - nothing spectacular will happen to most who are awake and waiting for the new year. ^^

Anyway, as for my long disappearance, I blame FailNet and my new FailWall Firewall.

I had a hard time figuring out what in the world is wrong with our internet. Even though it was connected, nothing is loading, and those little monitors at the bottom that mark the network activity is as dark as black... nothing...

After days of figuring things out, I tried deactivating my firewall, and got through! I also checked my Windows Firewall and see it disabled, and is locked at Off... I can't turn it on or do anything about it... Something must have broken it... >:(

At least I got through the internet, though I don't feel very secure... Maybe I'll download ZoneAlarm or whatever it was called again... to repair my firewall...

Well, have a happy new year to all! Let's hope for a better and brighter 2009.

See you around! ^_^

There's More?

January 2 became a non-working holiday...

This is going to one long vacation. Good thing I piled up on stuff to do. ^^

Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas!

or if not, at least, Happy Holidays!

Now, as I type this, it is now the morning of the 24th. I decided to post early because internet at home is being a major pain. I may be able to connect, but pages don't load at all.

I know I haven't posted in a while, I just kept forgetting what I was going to post about. (=_=) yeah, lame...

So, what are your plans for the holidays? Or do you not celebrate it at all?

We don't do much on Christmas Eve. A simple family gathering is all we do. On Christmas, we go over to our grandparents, and celebrate with our cousins and aunts.

And as a parting gift (seeing how I'll probably end up not posting due to FAILNet...), here is a picture of lanterns that Father made as decors.

Getting some stuff done

Hello everyone. The holidays are fast approaching. Here in the Philippines, the Christmas Season officially started on December 16, 2008, as marked by the "Simbang Gabi" (translated as Evening (gabi) Mass (simba). Although it is named as an evening mass, it is actually an early morning mass, continuing until Christmas Eve.

Yeah, due to that, Filipinos are considered to have one of the longest Christmas celebrations. I haven't attended a single one yet due to - uh, waking up early issues. o_o,

Also, reading two on-line comics at the same time where one is funny and one dramatic is terribly strange... I jump tabs in between load times and the funny kills the suspense... Yeah, I should not get distracted like that too much... XD

I am also looking forward to vacation this holiday season. There is already a declaration from the national government that days in between official holidays (25th (Christmas), 30th(Philippine Holiday), and 1st (New Year)) will be non-working holidays. That sure reminds me of the days in school. Makes me more excited of the holidays now. Unlike those stuck in the workforce, people in school have long vacations. I just hope that we don't need to render any overtime work. I sure could use some rest.

The downside of the long holiday, is that I will be stuck with FAIL Dial-up at home... Darn it. I'll be marked absent in the chats! :O noes...

Anyway, in other news, I finally got a review submitted to the AAMR. Yeah, I'm not too confident about it... Perhaps I could get it edited by Shin? I hear he's an awesome editor. :D

I'll leave you with a photo of an orchid from our garden I took last month. ^_^

See you around, everyone.

Feeling Lazy...

Hello everyone.

My previous post got a lot of interesting comments. It was very enlightening. So I guess, when I finish my 2-year MBA here, I'll be equivalent to a college graduate in years... Interesting.

To those who asked, my thesis proposal is about service efficiency and customer satisfaction of our company. Not too fun, but a doable research project. It's not something that will save the world, but at least get me a degree...

Well, nothing going on. I have been gone a while for I was busy with work. In fact, I am currently stuck in my proposal draft which is due on Saturday, and I am not feeling very good about it...

*sigh*

Well, see you around. ^_^

I think I should post something...

Hello everyone! How are you all doing?

Anyway, I have not been able to post in a while, busy, busy, busy...

I got tons of work to do, since the year is coming to a close. It's the busiest time of the year for me. Aside from that, I'm starting on my thesis proposal draft. Yes, folks, the unthinkable has happened - I'm working on a thesis.

Speaking of academic stuff, I have been wondering about the education system here and in the States... I think we are missing a school level or something, I don't know. I haven't done much research about it. Our education system has this: 6 years in Elementary, 4 years in high school and 4/5 years for a Bachelors Degree. Now, if I am not mistaken, some have middle school, right? Did our country thought it best to skip middle school? Is that why I have heard that a college graduate from our country is considered a high school graduate abroad?

Yeah, just having some random thoughts, but anyway...

I feel like I am neglecting the AAMR... It has been up in a while, and I haven't posted a single bloody review. I tried, folks, seriously, I tried writing. It just does not seem good enough. Heh, my fault for establishing a review world without any previous review experience, huh? My many thanks to the contributors for keeping the ship afloat.

Well, see you around. Hope you have a great weekend. ^^

-edit-
I did a little digging with regards to the Philippine Education System and this site has a bit more detailed info on it. Philippines - Educational System—an Overview

Obligatory Attendance

I am not much of a fan of obligatory attendance on school activities.

Last Saturday, class schedules got messed up because later that night, the faculty and the grad school students will have their Christmas Party. Wait, it's supposed to be "our" party, though I feel it's more of a faculty and student council party and they decided to drag the students along to share the expenses...

Anyway, as I was saying, the classes got rescheduled to what was normally a 3-hour class to a 2-hour thing. It would have been alright, except the Saturdays was compressed more to the morning, and the Sunday compressed more to the afternoon, to allow students more time to prepare for the party...

There's a catch, though - it was announced the day before.

Yeah, I arrived at 1PM (30 minutes late) to see that announcement posted on the Boards, and I literally went 'WTF?' in my head. Instead of being 30 mins late, I was an hour late. What should have started at 12:30 and ended at 3:00 started at 11:00 and will end at 2:00, and so on.

After some worried investigating, I found out that most students did not get the memo. My class ended up having no one attending. Hurray...

I did not attend the party. I heard that only a handful of students attended - almost the same number as the faculty. If they end up collecting the contribution for those who also did not attend... I'll probably be shouting 'OBJECTION!' at them or something. It was not something the entire student body agreed on, and the attendance showed their opinion on the subject.

Yeah... fun times, eh?

Today is a what?!

Man, I woke up today thinking it's a Thursday... I spent yesterday thinking that today will be a Thursday. It's not, it's a Friday...

You people of the past have messed with the flow of my time. It made me forgot I'm in the future... XD

Now, I don't have much time left for me to finish my projects due for Saturday Class... =_= I thought I had another day to put it off to. So much for procrastination, eh?

See you around!

Avatar Change!

After years of using my old avatar (and some minor edit for the VV size), I changed my avatar...

Same character still, just different shot. :D

Darn it, I just refreshed the chat to check my new Avatar and it's not letting me back in!

*bashes on Chat Room Door*

Hey, guys, let me in!!!

At least Indi confirmed that I was not the only one who got DC'd, and took a long time to reconnect...

Well, see you around!

XD
