   New themes are fun!!

Anime Word of the Day
Chibi (ちび) as an English word is slang used in some circles (for example otaku). It has its origins in the Japanese language. In the context of anime or manga, is used to describe a style of drawing a character in a highly stylized way, with stubby bodies that are about the same size as the head. A chibi rendition of a character is usually done for comedic purposes. Recreational anime artists sometimes use the term super deformed interchangeably with chibi and some use it to describe a child or baby version of an anime or manga character.

In Japanese, chibi is used to describe a short person or child. It may also connote a derogatory meaning when addressing a minor. It is comparable to the English terms runt, dwarf, or shrimp.

Opening Act:
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Halloween. Or if not at least a pretty good Tuesday. ^^ Mine went really well I was actually pretty surprised. A small group of friends came over and hung out with me. Since with this stupid accident I couldn’t go out the parties like I wanted too. Though I did discover that several of my friends get scared really easily! Hehehe So that was an added bonus. I quite enjoyed watching them jump and cringe away from the horror movies we watched. The Grunge proved to be quite the thriller to most of them. LoL It’s just not as freaky when you’ve already seen it once though. ^^ It was great though we kept the lights turned out and my windows covered and lit a few candles. Kept the place feeling nice and spooky for the movies.

And of course I did my fave Halloween tease later that evening…my friend Dan came in and read tarot by candlelight. He’s really good at it too…freaky good at it. ^^ And I pulled out the Ouiji Board! I’ve got a great board, it’s this huge wooden carved one with black lacquered letterings. It really pulls you into the game. Always a great time with a receptive crowd. Hehehe Oh for those of you not familiar with this basically, a ouija board is the term given to a sheet of wood with the letters of the alphabet printed or written across it, along with the numbers 0-9, and the words YES, NO, and GOODBYE. A pointing implement - a planchette is placed onto the board and the people present each place one finger each on it. One person generally speaks aloud and calls for anybody in the spirit world to respond. This sometimes yields a response, more often than not nothing happens - although this can vary depending on who is present, some people are better 'conductors' than others. People can get a bit freaked out about using them, but honestly I quite enjoy the experience. And I’ve never not had the planchette move. ^^

Yes I believe in spirits and the spirit world…I also believe in magic! No I don’t think saying Hocus Pocus is going to grant me wishes. Though I wish it would…^^ But I do believe in the unexplainable out there. Otherwise life would be really boring!

Ok yay for new video games! I also have to blame LordSesshomaru for bringing up the game Okami. I was resisting buying this game but after he talked about it I changed my mind! Darn it! It’s such a fun game! And unique not only in animation but in game play style itself. Plus there’s just something great about running around as a god in wolf form.

Also this week brings the release of Final Fantasy XII and Neverwinter Nights II. I had to choose between these too. And I couldn’t resist FFXII, I’ve been waiting so very long for this game to come out! I’ve played pretty much every single FF game and I have yet to find one I didn’t enjoy on some level. And this one looks a bit darker than the earlier ones so I’m pretty impressed so far. Unfortunately I’ve been fighting my roomies for game time…they’re mean they hide the game downstairs where I can’t reach it!! Darn it all! Oh well at least I still have this closed beta game I’m testing and Okami to play with!

New Works:
Well a new theme for after the holiday season! I’m now featuring my fave characters from Berserk! Berserk was actually one of the first anime series I watched and it frustrated me to no end! LoL Anyone who’s seen it knows why. I’ve never met another series that introduced so many amazing themes and then just stopped with no plans for a 2nd season! So I also have Berserk to thank for introducing me to the wonderful world of manga. Since the series continues on after the anime series ends. ^^ Even better the manga story adds more characters and more details and is still an ongoing series! Yay for new manga stories every month! LoL Folks generally call this the never-ending series. ^^

I’ve also posted a few new wallpapers. The first two are from Prince of Tennis. One of my always favorite captain Atobe and one of two of Fudomine’s greats Shinji and Kamio. I had a bit of fun creatively with these wallpapers and I hope others like the effect. I think they turned out quite well and well if I like them. I’m happy with that. LoL

Epilogue:
My fave Halloween costume wasn’t really one that I put together. I had some friends who worked on monster make up for movies and such and for Halloween a couple of years ago they agreed to turn us all into creatures of darkness! ^^ So I got stuck in a chair for five hours and turned into this reptilian alien thingie. It was amazingly realistic and we scared a lot of people at the downtown festival. ^^ I’ve never had so many photo ops with complete strangers…lol Now I know how cosplayers feel when they attend conventions.

Aww no conversations this week…my post is pretty much long enough right now isn’t it? Besides I think I answered most of your questions in this post or at your sites. Hehehe

Random Question: What was the first anime that really got you into the otaku attitude?
